Seminar

By a show of hands.
How many of you discovered,
You had increased difficulty...
Dealing with reality last year?
Excellent. Excellent.
The numbers are dwindling.
Now!
By a show of hands...
How many believed that having good credit,
Meant spending like there was no tomorrow?
I see!
We have some reluctant participants in the audience!
Did any of you think...
You were better off than those who could 'not' get credit?
AND bragged about the number of credit cards you had...
AND have maxed them to their limits?
Please...no crying!
Will someone pass tissue,
To those sobbing loudly in the back row!
I have a surprise for all of you!
Yes...
Please escort them in!
These people,
Ladies and gentlemen.
Are the very same people you had no problems laughing at...
Just 'months' ago!
See those smiles upon their faces?
Well...
In this seminar,
They are willing to prepare beans and franks.
AND lend you their can openers...
For one week to anyone of you,
Who agrees to clean their apartments.
By a show of hands...
How many wish to take them up on their offer?
Settle down. Settle down.
We will sign up as many of you as possible.
No need to rush them.
They have been known to be a patient group of people!

The 'Look-At-Me-And-What-I've-Got-Type

I've met a few snooty people in my days.
The ones who perceived themselves,
Better than others...
Because of a higher mortgage the had to pay.
Or the ones who bragged about their good credit.
And would announce the number of their credit cards,
To anyone for a quick display.

And those who were comfortable being who they are,
Always attracted my attention with admiration.
Those who were comfortable being who they are...
Were honest with themselves.
And to me this was a priceless possession.

People who talk about their stocks and bonds,
And investments they live on...
I don't fault them for what they believe is security.
People have their values and I respect that.
It is the ones self obsessed who appear to thrive best,
On masquerading their unhappiness....
With a projecting of pretentions the try to hide,
In a shallowness of emptiness.

The 'look-at-me-and-what-I've-got-type'.
You know...
The ones climbing down from their high horses,
Hoping not to be seen at night.
Since today the economy,
Has their mouths and lips shut firmly tight!

I've met a few snooty people in my days.
The ones who perceived themselves,
Better than others...
Because of a higher mortgage the had to pay.
Or the ones who bragged about their good credit.
And would announce the number of their credit cards,
To anyone for a quick display.

Well...
Those who were and 'still' comfortable being who they are,
Always attracted my attention with admiration.

Social security, bank account, and credit card numbers aren't just data. In the wrong hands they can wipe out someone's life savings, wreck their credit and cause financial ruin.

No Option...

I used to watch the news
but it's too depressing
listening to people
with good jobs
telling me
to hang in there.
'Make a plan'
Talking to people
Who Iost their job
are losing a house
can't fix their car..
people who's
credit cards
lay dead in the wallet.
people who got letters
saying sorry but.
the retirement fund
is gone
(the company 'lost' it all..)
Yep,
their advice is welcome
everyone's making some plans...
They don't forward unemployment.
gotta have a address.
gotta have a car
gotta have a phone.
gotta have all that
or you got problems.
Fancy people with jobs
look in the camera
like robots....
Offering advice.
on how to cut back
how to survive
In spite of it all..
They never seem
to 'get it'..
They go there
but they ain't
'been there.'
But The fear
in their eyes
the shaking of hands...
can not be hidden.
it's come a time
when anyone can be
cheaply replaced.
no job is secure.
we can all hit the wall.
& the more people make
the further they'll fall.

A terse poem on numbers

Numbers are everywhere
twenty four hours in a day
seven days in one week
thirty one in the month of May.
A number on your front door
and on houses down your road
numbers on your credit card
and also of your postal code.
Numbers called out at Bingo
two fat ladies are number eight
and if your numbers come up
you'll go home feeling great.
Would you like a cup of tea?
one or two sugars in your cup?
sorry but I have to go now
that's the end time is up!

A Wanta Be

Pity all the wanta bees
drones to misfortune
short cut seekers to fame
beware hidden strings
to make a puppet dance!

Do you know a wanta be?

Andy G is an incurable wanta be
poor fool he wants to be rich famous
to live the life a fabulous dream life
one of those people who will always spend
all their salary plus more always more

always broke so he self cursing claims
except when secretly spending
always spending spending spending
running up new credit card debit
credit card debit is a vicious scary trap

highest interest readily bank available
springs shut like a clamp clam
when maxed out your purchase quota
no interest no interest no interest
for three six months pulls suckers in

credit card debit is a deadly sickness
infecting spend spend spend target pigeons
come pay day minimum payment
is one day more required than you can ever pay
more than you can pay with food bills manage

now juggle bills finances spend master
mortgage luxury purchase payments
here comes lurking repossession master
taking back toys temporary joys
leaving horrible black holes holes holes

in your hollow empty souls souls souls
stripping house flat bare of furnishings
rooms bare cupboards bare do you care
credit card fraud juggler credit card fraud
is a crime to jail you must go go go

possessions people do not make us happy
we must find that happiness within ourselves
it is not the duty of any except ourselves
to find life purpose to fill all the empty spaces
forget false dreams temporal credit card bliss

this for you I fear I fear
please my friend do not go there!

Told to Go to a Heated Place

People are crazed.
And don't know what they want.

They want the government out of their lives.
And yet they want to be protected from terrorists.
As well as those they know,
Who are revealed to be thieves.
Their next door neighbors...
Who have committed petty crimes.
The ones who drive Benzes and Mercedes.

They wish not to pay another tax.
But expect free this and that...
And become angered,
When they spend their last dime.
Wasted on craps.
And other casino traps.

No second best!
They want to be better than the rest.
They want to build and show progress.
They want their stores stocked like packed nests.
They want to dress and stop breaths...
Because they want to look so good!
Moisturized, tanned and...
Buffed.

And they want to pocket huge dollars for doing,
Less than they should.
ALL...
Delivered by the Good Witch from the East,
Glenda!
Remember her from the Wizard of Oz?
Glenda?
The one who promised Dorothy,
If she really wanted...
She could and 'would' get back to Kansas.
Or get that which her heart truly desired.
Just with the clicking of her pumped and Rubied heels.
Three times.
And...
That's all it would take!

'Please let me get back to a credit A rating!
Please let me get back to a credit A rating!
Please let me get back to a credit A rating! '

People are crazed.
And don't know what they want.

They want also to be the first to occupy 'Space'.
You know...
Outer Space?
With much of that 'inner' space between their ears vacant.

They want the government out of their lives.
Day and night,
Loudly they make this clear.
But want their interests protected by those they elect...
Done.
And 'stunned' by the cost,
To maintain their exorbitant delusions.

And those who confront them...
Are told to go to a heated place!
And while there,
To kiss where the Sun does not shine!

we look at those photographs with weary visa faces

why can't we sit

we need hands palms a pointer sealed in an
unrepeatable unique crucial print of a citizen
why can't we make a handshake

we need this for the sake of neat info organization
so as not to be lost so as to be easily found
why is no one looking for us

Dealing With 'Accepted' Reality

The most difficult part in dealing with 'accepted' reality,
Is the financing of the delusional side of it.
With loans due and credit rates soaring to pay.

And creditors seem to lose their sense of humor,
The moment an application is signed...
And denied for having no credit history.
With no one to co-sign for a lifetime of dependency.

Or one having such bad credit a rating no longer applies.
Leaving those with no debts at all...
Feeling ostracized and looked upon as threats.

And today...
If one is not in foreclosure,
Or has a repossession in progress...
A feeling of being in total isolation is the experience.
With stares received from others for being unpatriotic!

Settle Down My Boy

Settle down, an eat your peas and gravy, my boy
Settle down, settle down my boy settle down
Stop wasting all your time with running around the town
Settle down, settle down my boy settle down
Knuckle down and find a job and take some responsibility
Settle down, settle down my boy settle down
The futures something you should be thinking about
Settle down, settle down my boy settle down
Look around for a wife to start a family, my boy
Settle down, settle down my boy settle down
Listen toy our father and hell tell you the same as me
Settle down, settle down my boy settle down
Your words would go in one ear and out the other side
Dont say my head was empty and I had things to hide
And you better put something away for your old age
So settle down, settle down my boy settle down
Settle down, settle down my boy settle down uh huh huh

Throughout the Meadow

I discovered my purpose,
Long before your good credit rating...
Maxed out on overdrawn credit cards.

I have never identified with bling,
As a means to represent my dreams and wishes.
Being 'different' has had its benefits for me.

I owe no one anything to maintain a pretense.
I am who I am.
Basic.

Truth and I have been friends for years.
But I will admit...
We have had our ups and downs.

You,
On the other hand...
Celebrated achieving faked peaks.

And today you tell me I know nothing of the valleys?
Remember,
That's where you left me before making your climb.

However...
Your whining everyone can hear,
Throughout the meadow.
Have you lost your purpose and your mind,
On borrow time and the cheap 'blinging' of things?
I thought you knew who you were?
Was it you who said I wasted my life,
On useless dreams?
And here you are...
Screaming as if 'you' are the one crazed.

But...
You may be reflecting your purpose.
Who am I to pass judgement?
Enjoy.
Have a great day.

Blame It On The Tetons

Blame it on the Tetons. Yeah, I need a scapegoat now.
No my dog won't bite you, though it had the right to.
You oughta give her credit cuz she knows I would've let it happen.
Blame it on the weekends. God I need a cola now.
Oh we mumble loudly, wear our shame so proudly.
Wore our blank expressions, trying to look interesting.
Blame it all on me cuz God I need a cold one now.
All them eager actors gladly taking credit
for the lines created by the people tucked away from sight
is just a window from the room we're bound to.
If you find a way out, oh would you just let me know how?
Would you just let me know how?
Blame it on the web but the spider's your problem now.
Language is for liquid that we're all dissolved in.
Great for solving problems, after it creates a problem.
Blame it on the Tetons. God, I need a scapegoat now.
Everyone's a building burning
with no one to put the fire out.
Standing at the window looking out,
waiting for time to burn us down.
Everyone's an ocean drowning
with no one really to show how.
They might get a little better air
if they turned themselves into a cloud.

What's The Problem

Temperatures rise,
With the rolling of eyes...
But,
No nobody seems to want to tell,
What is their problem.

Temperatures rise,
With the rolling of eyes...
But,
No nobody seems to want to tell,
About their problems...
To settle and to solve them.

Rolling eyes and moody pouting,
Giving attitude nonstopping...
With a rising of a heat to pass.
But no one has asked,
What's the problem.

Fussing with a cussing too!
As if this is a way to prove,
Being rude and talking crude..
Will even up a score.
But no one wants to take the time to ask,
What are the problems.
To settle and to solve them.

Solutions to confusion can be reached,
If people solved them.
But no one wants to take the time to tell,
What are their problems...
To settle and to solve them.

Gossip starts to leaking,
With a tit for tat-a seeking.
But nobody stops to reach out just to tell,
About their problems.
To settle and to solve them.

No nobody seems to want to tell,
About their problems.
No nobody seems to want to tell,
About their problems.
To settle and to solve them.

'Are you kidding?
That's all I hear 'everyday'...
People who've got problems.'

Oh yeah?
But are you listening to them,
With an assistance given...
To help them get solved?

Look What The Good People Done

They were drinkin his wine
They were usin his name
They were takin the time to take
His name in vain
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
They were havin their fun
Look what the good people done
Well, the good people say things that they
Dont really mean
They look so convincing cause theyre
So squeaky clean
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
Its a million to one
Look what the good people done
They (? put him on walkin down ? ), they said,
Lets go on with the show
And they pad him on whiskey and say, boy,
Youve got to go
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
Hes (? on the highway ? ) to none
Look what the good people done
All the newspaper men
They were lookin for names
Pulled him out of a hat
They needed someone to blame
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
He thought he was the one
Look what the good people done
Well, the good people say,
Keep your nose to the ground
Then theyll build you right up
Just to knock you right down
Look what the good people done to you
Look what the good people done to you
They were gettin their kicks
Look what the good people nixed
[spoken - here we go]
Look what the good people done to me
Look what the good people done to me
Look what the good people done to me
Look what the good people done to me
They were havin no fun

The Screaming Mirror...

who wants to show pain?
no one wants to show it and be pitied

pity can kill
makes you shrink like
dough pressed
with a hammer

everyone wants to show a happy face on the road
people walk and
each smiles to
everyone

and when the back of the body
steals a distance

everyone is back to their serious faces again

twisted lips, crashing teeth
misshaped jaws
gnashing fingers

early that
evening

i show pain in the mirror
like the palms
of my hands

the mirror laughs
it is telling me it is not me
and i look funny with it

it says i do not fit well as a beggar of affection
it teases me
the way sissies sashay on the
shiny tiles of the
malls

that when in pain i look like a liar
an old Pinocchio
with a broken wooden nose
reaching the door
from the arm
of my chair
to the hands of the
railing

i insist that this time it is true
my tears are rolling like a river on the tributaries of my cheeks
the mirror
they are boulders
now

the mirror
finally screams for help
of some nearby shadows

i am another movie.

For Wishes of Good Credit

For wishes of good credit...
Should be the least of one's concern.
Good credit against an admitted deficit,
Seems less meaningful and senseless...
If debts unpaid go uncollected.

And if one with good credit,
Is employed and fears.
How can one expect it to be kept good...
If the threat of joblessness,
Approaches.
And repossessions draw near!

Credit In The Straight World

And I will awake
Your highness- Im so high I cannot walk
And I will awake
You cripple, you take away my time, my peace, my empathy
No babies sleep on atrophy
Your unborn love and fetals dree
My bitter [ ] legless caress
Go for credit in the straight world
Look a dealer in the eye
Go for credit in the real world, wont you try?
I got some credit in the straight world
I lost a leg, I lost an eye
Go for credit in the real world you will die
Its the credit in the straight world
Leave your money when you die
Lots of credit in the straight world gets you high
I got some credit in the straight world
I lost a leg, I lost an eye
Go for credit in the real world, you will die

The Reason Why I Am Here

people.
the reason why i am here, people
is people, satisfied people, looking for more
to tickle their tongues
for more satisfaction, the reason is people,
people who become restless because nothing
seems to make them people anymore,
people who love people
are the reasons for being here
people who miss people
people who question about being people
people who offer answers
they look for the content of the poem as answers
but there is really nothing
contentious about this
a poem simply pleases
puts forth what is in the heart of people
one that teases
and yet cannot be held by the hands
of people
one that slips like a fish in your hands
one that flies away
the moment it hears steps of men
coming on its way
birds are the reasons, fishes are the reasons
the sea, the depths,
the drowning feeling,
the rising and the falling the coming back and forth
of waves, are the reasons,
so many reasons why we are here
at the end
we look at each other, hands akimbo
eyeballs rolling,
without an answer.

Zero Covers All

Lately I realize.
I am a numb number,
living through life.
First child.
Date of birth.
Sixth star of twenty-seven.
Scorpio numbers six of twelve.
Studied tenth class,
Then 5-year’s graduation,
Every class I had a scroll number.
Exams written on id number.
Studied law.
Head churning three years,
with numbered sections.
Penal code, constitution.
Clauses of law in numbered sects.
Registered in bar council.
Legal practice.
Case files are numbered.
Subsequently I got,
House number, door number.
Phone number.
Mobile number.
Account numbers.
Credit card number.
Pan card number,
Folio numbers,
Car number,
License number,
Policy number,
Health card number,
Election card number,
Passport number,
Ration card number,
Ultimately, when you put me in morgue,
allotted me a number.
Which, I do no know.
However, I know a number.
I am a big zero.
It covers all my life
Yes, we discovered zero.
What a relief?
Does it not cover all?
fulfill all values!
By the way your number please?
X number or N number?
Infinite numbers.
