Ridiculie
I bet you never would have believed this,
That in your lifetime...
You would come to witness,
The ridiculous.
And more of it as each day passes!
With all of the abundance of this ridiculousness...
Could we come to agree to lable this surplus,
With the bailouts established to stimulate the economy...
As 'ridicu-lie'?
With the emphasis on 'lie' applied?

Tree
This is for 'B.Y.O. CHOPSTIX', a new song by Nobuko Miyamoto about the ecological ills of disposable chopsticks. Did you know that some 40 million trees a year go into making these items? And that we throw away 100 billion of them annually? Ridiculous.
transformations? evolutions? hahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahah.
Ridicu lous.
In This Lifetime
All things one will receive,
In this lifetime.
Will come.
To leave.
In this lifetime.
That which is believed,
In this lifetime.
Will change as one grows.
To learn, accept and come to know.
In this lifetime.
With trust there is happiness.
If kept.
Much is tested to address...
Each season manifested.
Reasons we all share,
To compare if something in life is missed.
Makes us seek pieces to complete...
With a snug fit.
In this lifetime.
And in this lifetime,
All that is received...
Leaves.
With air that is free to breathe.
That seems not to be an option,
In this lifetime of teased choices made to choose.

Can I Get A Witness
(b. holland / l. dozier / e. holland)
Ah, listen everybody
Especially you guys
Is it right to be left alone
When the one you love is never home?
I love too hard
Yeah, my friends sometimes say
But I believe, oh I believe
That a boy should be loved that way
But it hurts me so inside
See him treat me so unkind
A-somebody, a-somewhere
Tell him it aint fair
Can I get a witness?
Can I get a witness?
Can I get a witness?
Somebody?
Is it right to be treated so bad?
When youve given everything you had
Keep on tossing in my sleep
cause I havent seen my baby all week
Now, you people you do agree
That this aint the way loves supposed to be
A-let me hear you
Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Up early in the morning
With him on my mind
Just to find out all night
That Ive been crying
But I believe, oh, that a boy is a girls best friend
So, Im gonna stick by him til the very end
But he caused so much misery
I forget how loves supposed to be
Somebody, somewhere tell him
It aint fair
Can I get a witness?
Can I get a witness?
I want a witness
Witness, witness, witness, witness
Everybody knows, especially you boys
That a love can be sad
But half a love is twice as bad
Now you people you do agree
That this aint the way loves supposed to be
Let me hear you
Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah
I want a witness
Can I get a witness?
I want a witness
Come on, witness
I want a witness, hey
Come on, witness
I want a witness

Multi-Tasking
Okay!
I agree.
So I'm silly.
So I am ignorant, foolish and out of touch.
Is the emphasis on your assessments,
Delivered to bother me?
Or are they spoken to convince yourself,
Eventually I will accept you as an authority...
Of good taste you wish not to see go to waste?
Which is it?
Or...
Is this your way of seeking a companion to dominate?
And you are hoping that my willingness to listen to you...
Will feed an argument to manipulate my time?
With a dictating of beliefs to disturb a conflict,
Perceived by you to be identified in my mind?
Which is it?
You should know by now I have mastered multi-tasking!
And if you have not noticed...
I have an abundance of patience to deal with several distractions.
Don't leave.
I'm in need of your sense of humor!

One of the most powerful devices of poetry is the use of distortions. You can go from talking about the way a minute passes to the way a century passes, or a lifetime.

That's Ridiculous
Have I ever laid a hand on you
Did I ever make you see the truth
Don't you ever say I never cared
Don't you ever say I never cared
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
Have I ever made a fool of you
Did I ever make you look at me
Don't you ever say I was never there
Don't you ever say I was never there
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
Have I ever made you shout at me
Did I ever take advantage
Don't you ever badmouth me
Don't you ever badmouth me
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
You can't hold me
Don't try to hold me
You can't hold me
Don't try to hold me

Not At Your Expense. But Mine
That's strange.
And I am glad you brought the subject up.
You're not the only one who has said,
I have a tendency to others down.
As if to selectively pass judgement.
And,
Ironically enough...
Those who have said that,
Prefer if I kept their masquerading flaws...
And blemished insecurities they choose to keep hidden,
Under pretentions they believe discreet.
Left desperately closeted,
From anyone speaking about them.
Those not so 'cliquishly' involoved in their profiling.
I agree.
And I do not see a positive thing about it.
But tell me this...
Who actually benefits,
From the abundance of it I see?
Or is it just an accepted way of life,
Wanted to flaunt on socialized 'trips'...
That has its own uniqueness I am missing.
Is this some kind of fashion statement...
Only known to those,
Participating in this region of the country?
It is not like it is a secret.
Unknown to media moguls, entertainers...
And those snapping out of their mental,
And physical addictions.
Or is it,
And this you might agree...
Is it,
That when I am not around...
You make it a point to mention my comments,
To over emphasis them with negativity...
To help generate your own following?
Is that what you do?
Because I have noticed you do that with skill.
But...
Not at your expense.
But mine.
Although...
I don't make my comments to gain attention.
I just observe and make statements based upon fact.
And you?
You name dropp and exaggerate with impersonations.
As if to mock is your profession.

Temporarily!
Too little too late to stimulate,
A lost confidence
That has arrived when some
Have become irate.
Lives were pledged...
To follow you to the edge.
And now it is discovered,
That direction is dead!
Too little too late to stimulate,
With or without invigorating debate!
The chances taken to play with people's fate...
Doesn't leave them feeling more protected.
Nor are they feeling more secure or safe.
What a mess has been created,
Because of impulses you made to take!
And now you wish to be believed,
That a quick fix to prevent a tidal wave of grief...
Is going to stop that from happening...
And solve all needs!
'Temporarily! '
OH! ...
Temporarily?

Witness
I saw an ant devour sherman mountain.
Slip across the floor in the river of honey.
I saw the locust drinking from a fountain.
It smiled at me as I paid my money.
Chorus
Caus Im a witness, witness, see the writing on the wall.
Im a witness, witness, I say Ive seen it all.
Caus Im a witness, witness, Ive got all the proof.
Im a witness, witness, I swear to tell the truth.
I saw her buying in the face of fashion.
Wholl believe with her little white lies.
I saw her arrive on my bed of passion.
But I never saw a look of love in her eyes.
Chorus
Some days my eyes can see for miles and miles around.
Some nights my dreams just take me deep underground.
My minds a time machine, Im in the future and the past.
The past... scrape away...

Can I Get A Witness ?
(holland, dozier, holland)
With steampacket
[produced by giorgio gomelsky, 1965]
Listen everybody, especially you girls
Do you liked to be left alone
By the one you love, never phone
I love to holler
My friends sometimes say
That I believe, I believe
That a woman should love that way
Well it hurts me so inside
Ya see I treat you so unkind
Somebody somewhere
I tell ya it aint fair
Can I get a witness
Can I get a witness
I want a witness
Everybody
I want a witness
Witness, witness
Somebody somewhere
Well all you ... agree
Said this aint the way loves supposed to be
Let me hear ya
Let me hear ya say yeah
I want a witness
Get a witness
I feel all right
One more time
Just a one more time
A little bit louder, baby
A little bit louder
Everybody
Well it hurts me so inside
To see love to be so unkind
Somebody somewhere
It aint fair
Jump up early in the morning
With it on my mind

Ridiculous
Ridiculous?
I know.
But somehow that is less disturbing,
Than an abnormal existence...
You insist,
Governs a reality...
Assisted and uplifted by misfits believed.
And until my conscious adjusts to this...
Perception you embrace as one I should face.
I feel much safer remaining in a peace you describe,
As a ridiculous way to live my life!
Free of conflict sweetened with deceit.
And spiced by tasty lies I refuse to eat!

For Sympathy
since you married her
not for love but for sympathy
the gods agree
on some consequences
she will stare at you
and she will be nothing but
a ray of white light
you become the prism
to filter her soul
against the sun
your sympathy
shall spread her into
the many colors of
her griefs
soon she will say
that in the prism
where her soul passes through
there was no joy
there was no bliss
there was only this
little piece of happy moments
this pretense
not meant to last
her lifetime in the mask of darkness

Passes away
Passes away
Everything passes away
The night the star
The day the fire
Everything everything.
I remained as it is
Where it is
Here as a fairy tale.
Death passes away
Birth passes away
And passes away
Everything passes away.

The essence of independence has been to think and act according to standards from within, not without. Inevitably anyone with an independent mind must become "one who resists or opposes authority or established conventions": a rebel. If enough people come to agree with, and follow, the Rebel, we now have a Devil. Until, of course, still more people agree. And then, finally, we have --- Greatness.
