Pollsters Stare
Entrenched in indifferences.
And tossed about by negative opinions.
With a decision to make,
As to who best represents them...
During times all stand on shaky ground.
The sounds of sighs from the people are heard.
And with random surveys collected,
As clues they hold in hand...
The pollsters stare becoming very much aware
Not one of the respondents mentions politics.
Printed on the surveys many have suggested,
Names of psychiatrists and some with addresses!

The camera relieves us of the burden of memory. It surveys us like God, and it surveys for us. Yet no other god has been so cynical, for the camera records in order to forget.

Somehow I Am Immediately Alerted
If I can express,
From my own point of view...
A committment to honesty,
As 'my' experience with it
Allows me to be.
With a self assessment...
That encourages I should be limitation free.
I will not be seeking opinions,
As to how my own impressions...
Affect me emotionally,
Mentally or physically.
Somehow,
I am immediately alerted.
Or why my feelings are felt,
The way I feel them.
Somehow,
I am immediately alerted.
Nor am I going to address that in debate.
To await who wins!
Somehow,
I am immediately alerted.
If I say I feel a certain way about my life...
I do not seek a validation.
Nor will I take random surveys.
Somehow,
I am immediately alerted.
Any emotions I can not define...
That are mine,
Has very little to do with outside observations.
No needs do I have to schedule visits,
With qualifying psychiatrists.
Or analytical dissections of dysfunctions,
Performed by anyone ordained...
To deliver sermons from a pulpit.
And...
Who believes themselves to be more in touch,
With 'my' reality.
Since all my realities have my name on them!
My creditors will vouch for that!
And would be happy I've made any attempts,
To contact them at all!
So if there is anyone who is in doubt,
About what comes out of my mouth.
Know this...
Any questions I may have,
About my life and directions I take...
To broaden my own awareness,
Will 'first' be heard by God.
And what is decided from 'our' conferences...
More than likely!
And will produce all the comprehension I need.
Unless God is not available.
And it is rare I've had to reschedule,
Priorities to accomodate my visits with Him...
Her or IT.
So far,
I've been extremely fortunate...
To find I am expected.
Somehow,
I am immediately alerted about this!

On Return
Wearily, she puts down her bags.
She surveys the scene;
Another year,
A new class.
Yet, old friends
Have been working fervently
Since she left on sabbatical
So long ago.
At last, she smiles,
She surveys the scene;
Yes, it's going to be
An interesting year.

I Am Shaky Today
I AM SHAKY TODAY
I am shaky today-
Why I am not sure
But after all I have been through
And after all I have done
And all I have learned
And all the many times I have gotten through shakiness in the past
I am shaky today
As if all my life and its lessons have been for nothing
And I cannot control a simple mood-
I am shaky today
Like the earth might open up and swallow me forever -
I am shaky –Shaky-
After all these years
I have learned nothing-
I am so so ashamed-
Shaky still now while writing this poem.

Matter Of Decision
Id be home free if I could make up my mind,
What to do about you.
One minute I think I love you, the next Im playing the fool.
Youre such a part of me, cant tear myself away from you.
Dont care what people say, I just wanna be close.
Ive changed my mind a thousand times,
Now its a case of do or die.
Theres no more time to reason why.
Now its a matter of decision,
Why cant I make up my mind?
I cant stand this indecision,
Im going out of my mind.
The world is in such a sorry state.
In the papers, in the news.
Politicians cant see their hands from their feet,
Nobody cares about the truth.
Wish I could make the world a better place for you and me.
You always run and hide, I only wanna be close.
The teachers stuff your head with lies,
And make it hard to realize,
Whats going on, whats wrong, whats right.
Well, its a matter of decision,
We all must make a stand,
For everything that we believe in,
Every woman, every man.
Its a matter of decision.
A matter of decision, a matter of decision.

Hold On
Verse 1:
I worked hard, baby, night and day
The things i had somebody took away
They took away everything i earned
But there's one lesson that'a i have learned
Chorus:
You got to hold on, little girl, to what you've got (4x)
Verse 2:
I been pushed and i been knocked down
But i picked myself right back up off the ground
And baby there's one thing that i have found
Fighting's the only way's to stand your ground
Chorus:
You got to hold on, little girl, to what you've got (4x)
Bridge:
I've been used, i've been abused
I've had, baby, my regrets
I've been lost, i paid the cost
But there's one thing i ain't gonna forget
Verse 3:
I've heard some hard lines, i've seen some cryin' times
Bad luck and trouble they been friends of mine
Got to stand straight and stare right at your face (fate?)
And play it hard before it's too late
Chorus:
You got to hold on, little girl, to what you've got (8x)

Negative To Positive
In everyone’s life, we go through times
when it seems full with turbulence
and the negative feelings take hold.
Sometimes they don’t last long,
while other times they stay for quite a while.
Then we will do something quite out of the ordinary
and those feeling
turn from negative to positive almost overnight.
The mountains we thought we could never climb
become climbable now
and those distant dreams we had
now become reality.
We feel there isn’t anything
that we cannot do,
until the next time the negative thoughts break through,
and once again,
we try to make the positives ones come back.

The Spreaders Of Negativity
The spreaders of negativity now as ever are not rare
And that the World is ruled by negative people we are only too aware
With wars waging in some Countries and poor people to be found everywhere
And so much financial hardship and unhappiness in the bigger World out there,
The World is ruled by negative people and their weapon for to cling to power is fear
And 'tis only negative stuff from them we ever do hear
For to cling to power they create fear and division of their promotion of us against they
We'd be better off without their type as leaders that's how I feel anyway
We will never know of peace in the World as long as negative people hold the power
In a garden that is ruled by weeds you won't find any flower
As long as negative people are in positions of power peace we will never know
With them as our leaders mistrust between us and those different to us grow
The spreaders of negativity with us do have their way
They only cause division would that seem fair to say?

Surveys have shown going back as far as you and I can remember that people have perceived a leftward tilt in the basic coverage that they get on TV news.
This party will not take its position based on public opinion polls. We will not take a stand based on focus groups. We will not take a stand based on phone-in shows or householder surveys or any other vagaries of pubic opinion.

Gloomily the Clouds
Gloomily the clouds are sailing
O'er the dimly moonlit sky;
Dolefully the wind is wailing;
Not another sound is nigh;
Only I can hear it sweeping
Heathclad hill and woodland dale,
And at times the nights's sad weeping
Sounds above its dying wail.
Now the struggling moonbeams glimmer;
Now the shadows deeper fall,
Till the dim light, waxing dimmer,
Scarce reveals yon stately hall.
All beneath its roof are sleeping;
Such a silence reigns around
I can hear the cold rain steeping
Dripping roof and plashy ground.
No: not all are wrapped in slumber;
At yon chamber window stands
One whose years can scarce outnumber
The tears that dew his clasped hands.
From the open casement bending
He surveys the murky skies,
Dreary sighs his bosom rending;
Hot tears gushing from his eyes.
Now that Autumn's charms are dying,
Summer's glories long since gone,
Faded leaves on damp earth lying,
Hoary winter striding on, --
'Tis no marvel skies are lowering,
Winds are moaning thus around,
And cold rain, with ceaseless pouring,
Swells the streams and swamps the ground;
But such wild, such bitter grieving
Fits not slender boys like thee;
Such deep sighs should not be heaving
Breasts so young as thine must be.
Life with thee is only springing;
Summer in thy pathway lies;
Every day is nearer bringing
June's bright flowers and glowing skies.
Ah, he sees no brighter morrow!
He is not too young to prove
All the pain and all the sorrow
That attend the steps of love.

Loves Got A Hold On You
(keith stegall/carson chamberlain)
I called my doctor on the telephone
Help me doc theres something wrong
I cant shake it its gone too far
He said tell me what your symptoms are
I said my hands are sweaty and my knees are weak
I cant eat and I cant sleep
Its turning me every way but loose
He said it sounds like loves got a hold on you
No doubt loves got a hold on you
I told my buddies I was settlin down
No more of this running round
They looked at me like I was a fool
And said come on tell us whats wrong with you
I said my hands are sweaty and my knees are weak
I cant eat and I cant sleep
Its turning me every way but loose
He said it sounds like loves got a hold on you
No doubt loves got a hold on you
Well I tossed and turned til the morning light
Holding my pillow hanging on for life
There aint nothing I can do
They said it sounds like loves got a hold on you
Sounds like loves got a hold on you
My hands are sweaty and my knees are weak
I cant eat and I cant sleep
Its turning me every way but loose
He said it sounds like loves got a hold on you
Sounds like loves got a hold on you
Sounds like loves got a hold on you
No doubt loves got a hold on you

Politics Of Kissing
Shes looking back to see if hes looking at her
They talk without any words
And with a smile hes moving heaven and earth
She dreams of holding him tight
When will the moment be right
Got to be diplomatic, a step at a time
Dont want to blow it baby
Chorus:
Thats the politics of kissing
To know when to show your hand
First thoughts then second guessing
A subtle supply and demand
Balance of power baby
To hold or not to hold
Thats the politics of kissing
Youre finding your way as you go, go, go
How do you know
Head over heels under the moon looking at you
But do you feel it too
And if I move in closer what will you do
Cause Im thinking please hold me tight
Am I the light in your eyes
I wish you had the power for reading my mind
cause Ill never say it to you
(repeat chorus)
Oh-oo-oh-oo-oh, oh-oo-oh-oo-oh
Oh-oo-oh-oo-oh, oh-oo-oh-oo-oh
Oh-oo-oh-oo-oh-oo-oh
Oh-oo-oh-oo-oh, oh-oo-oh-oo-oh
Oh-oo-oh-oo-oh-oo-oh
Hear what Im sayin to ya
Thats the politics of kissing
To know when to show your hand
First thoughts then second guessing
A subtle supply and demand
Balance of power baby
To hold or not to hold
Thats the politics of kissing
Thats the politics of kissing
To know when to show your hand
First thoughts then second guessing
A subtle supply and demand
Balance of power baby
To hold or not to hold

Lookers, Lickers and Stickers
A big round bright red postbox,
Is such a splendid sight, to me,
And the way we try posting our letters,
Is, moreover, a 'fun' sight to see.
People often put their hand in the wide slot,
Holding onto their letters, real tight,
And somehow, they just can't seem to let go,
They are struggling, like mad, in their plight.
To stand, and to pluck up the courage,
And to make a decision to take
Their hand away from inside the slot,
Is a judgement they can't deem to make.
Very gradually, they then start departing,
But have to go back, just for luck,
To check in the slot, and make really sure,
That their letters, have not become stuck.
You can see, it's to them, a great worry,
It is written all over their face,
You so want to kindly reassure them,
And coax them cheerfully back to their base.
There are others who read the addresses,
On each envelope, that they have picked,
They examine the flap, to confirm it is sealed,
And that also the stamp has been licked.
Others read on the plate, posting details,
Not only once, but again and again,
And some try so very hard, to push in
A wrapper, too big, thus in vain.
Fascinating, is the art of letter posting,
Like watching a 'comedy' type play,
And realise with amazement, the many 'odd' ways,
We attempt to post our mailings each day.

Hand In Glove
Hand in glove
The sun shines out of our behinds
No, it's not like any other love
This one is different - because it's us
Hand in glove
We can go wherever we please
And everything depends upon
How near you stand to me
And if the people stare
Then the people stare
Oh, i really don't know and i really don't care
Kiss my shades ... oh ...
Hand in glove
The good people laugh
Yes, we may be hidden by rags
But we've something they never have
Hand in glove
The sun shines out of our behinds
Yes, we may be hidden by rags
But we've something they never have
And if the people stare
Then the people stare
Oh, i really don't know and i really don't care
Kiss my shades ... oh ...
So, hand in glove i stake my claim
I'll fight to the last breath
If they dare touch a hair on your head
I'll fight to the last breath
For the good life is out there somewhere
So stay on my arm, you little charmer
But i know my luck too well
Yes, i know my luck too well
And i'll probably never see you again
I'll probably never see you again
I'll probably never see you again
Oh ...

The Juvenile Offenders Act
The Juvenile Offenders Act gives soft-on-crime judges an out,
While the names of young criminals don’t get published throughout,
The statisticians do surveys that say everything is fine,
And it doesn’t matter who got off with a whole bunch of crime.
The people don’t have referendums nor required to vote,
And young criminals know they can get away with it and gloat,
The height of political correctness with lawyers by the score,
Nodding and waving as the criminals walk out the courtroom door.
Are we the only people in the world with these stupid laws?
As the judges, the lawyers and the pink socialists applause,
Where can we find a politician that really means what he says?
How do we go about getting binding referendums these days?

Releasing Myself From Those Irritations
The music is wonderful.
I think it is really great.
The messages delivered,
I've heard...
When they are given,
Have power and inspiration.
And all of them I've come to digest.
With an understanding I've adopted.
With a renewed outlook I now appreciate.
But it's the infighting and miscommunication...
With all the gossip that takes place.
The conflicts exisiting there I am confronted with...
Makes me feel my peace of mind is threatened.
And I'd rather not bother with it.
I'd rather not participate or congregate,
Around others who express their indifferences.
With wagging tongues whispered,
Sharing an overheard hate!
Something is wrong within the minds of the people,
Who say one thing but really are two faced.
'I can understand your point of view.
At times I have felt that same way too!
But why don't you reconsidered your decision.
Come back and make the return your experience!
God wishes you to fellowship with us...
In the House of the Lord!
That is what church is for! '
That's what I know.
And the reasons I've given is why I don't go!
But I do appreciate your invitation.
I've protected my peace,
By releasing myself from those irritations!
'So you are 'not' a Christian?
Is that what you are saying? '
I'm praying to stay where my mind is at.
And for 'me' there is no hesitation.
