Our Way of Life
It takes two quarters back to back
Of slow or no growth,
To qualify what we are not experiencing...
As a recession.
Now...
And I want this totally understood.
If a tree loses a few leaves...
It can still be identified as a tree.
Just because there are no waves showing,
At Laguna Beach at noon on Tuesday...
Does not mean the surfers are going to abandon it!
They realize these things happen.
And will show up on Wednesday at 10AM.
It's like this...
And this is the way I see it.
What's the difference between brown and white eggs?
The taste is the same.
The winds are blowing a little rough right now.
But who here believes those sailors aboard our submarines...
Are not below those waters wishing for smooth sailing,
All the time?
When I had visited the USS Prosperity...
They were all high-fiving!
You all should have seen that!
Now...
I know none of this makes sense.
But I am here to tell you the economy is strong!
And that reminds me of Mrs. Parker.
She only had ten dollars to her name.
Not once had I heard her complain,
About feeding her 15 children needing food to eat.
You know why?
Hope!
And just because we are going to lend,
Trillions of dollars to those financial institutions
That lost investments in the housing industry...
Does not mean we are suffering from a crisis!
And these allegations have to stop,
If we are expected to maintain our greatness.
What we are going through right now...
Is a slight bump on the road to recovery.
And that's why we must stay in Iraq!
To give up now would mean turning our backs,
On our way of life!

Momentary Contact With This Slight Inconvenience
With trillions of dollars in debt.
There are still some people,
Who are hopeful...
The price of gas will lower below a dollar.
A loaf of bread,
Will be twenty five cents again.
A push cart will be full of groceries...
For less than twenty dollars.
And what is being experienced now,
Is not a crisis!
It's a temporary slugfest...
With someone bashing them over the head,
With a ton of bricks.
However...
This 'momentary' contact with this slight 'inconvenience'
Is being addressed and will be taken care of...
As soon as it becomes recognized as a severe condition!
And folks are hopeful these sentiments expressed,
Are being made in the utmost of honesty!
Their lifestyles will return them to Utopia!
'Oh,
I sure hope so.
We must not accept negative thinking!
You know how that can play tricks on the mind?
Better times are coming back.
The gasoline is 'almost' below four dollars now! '

Girl In The Sunset
Girl in the sunset
I only saw you for a second
Yet your voice penetrated my brain
And echoed endlessly
'Stay with me' you cried
As Your golden blond hair was spinning
And as your lavender shirt caught the slow warm wind's
Under a palm tree that was swaying back and forth in that very same wind
I cannot put a name to your face
Yet you looked so familiar
Were have I seen you before?
In my many years of sailing to come will we ever meet?
That sense of togetherness I felt was indescribable
Passion I have not felt in nearly a decade
Girl in the sunset
I wish to stay under that palm tree
And view the orange sunset with you in my arms in that slow blowing warm winds
On that cobblestone road
Why do you elude me?
When will I find you?
I think I found you
But you are not “her” yet
Girl in the sunset
Please wait for me...

But It Is to Your Interests
'We are against him.
He proposes to redistribute the wealth.
And that is not our interests.'
Oh?
But it is to your interests,
To maintain a drain on the economy
With trillions of dollars...
To give to a few,
With hypocritical views...
You campaign to keep.
To rescue with a 'bailout'
In a brainwashing of those who follow,
Standards and values that deplete them of reality!
'He wishes to inflict upon us socialistic values! '
And you...
Wish to keep those in need.
As you continue feeding your greed!
In a democracy that bleeds.

Whenever You Are Around
Who do you think you lie to?
When a lieing you do is too much.
And...
Who believes in the things you say?
Or is left impressed as if awestruck!
When you open your mouth,
An expected embellishment...
Is known to be heard that comes right out.
With that same exuberance fixed to a grin...
That leaves no one to wonder,
Why they are glued to a doubt you give to them.
And why do you even bother,
To detail your explanations?
There is no need for you to expound upon,
Your taste for wholesome exaggerations!
Who do you think you lie to?
When a lieing you do is too much.
And...
Who believes in the things you say?
Or is left impressed as if awestruck!
Even children today are bored with clowns.
Have you noticed them yawning,
Whenever you are around?
When you open your mouth,
An expected embellishment...
Is known to be heard that comes right out.
With that same exuberance fixed to a grin...
That leaves no one to wonder,
Why they are glued to a doubt you give to them.
With a wishing for them your performance ends!

On This Beach...
Life is a beach.
There are jellyfish. And sea urchins…the painful bumps along the road that we all encounter in life. On this beach.
In life..and on a beach there is warm water-like times, when we are happy, and have good times and enjoy living. On this beach.
We also have times, like a beach, when we have cold water times; when we are sad, or upset about losing someone or something. On this beach.
There are rough times, the same way the sea has rough water that pounds angrily against the shore. On this beach.
Life, like the sea, has high and low times, or tides. There is low tide when you think u can no longer go on, that life has done too much damage to you. Then the tide comes back in…and you are reminded that life goes on. Life gets better. You cannot give up on life, like you can’t give up on a beach because of a rough day or low tides. On this beach.
Life has sharks. Maybe not the same sharks from a beach, but they are there. They are the people that thrive on your pain and tears and hardship, the same way a shark sustains itself through brutal killing of unaware seals who don’t know what is coming or how bad it is. The sharks are there. Waiting. For someone…for you…like an unsuspecting seal, to come along and unknowingly become trapped in their lies and hurt. On this beach.
Life…has good times. Wonderful times where the only thoughts you have are about how much life is worth living and how much you love life. It is like the clear, cool blue water on a beautiful day at the beach. On this beach.
Life has those amazing people….akin to the beachgoers on a sandy shore…just along for the ride…to enjoy the good…and pack up and leave when it rains or something goes wrong. But there are the surfers..the daredevils…going back into the fear and love of the sea….of life. They risk the sharks, and jellyfish, and rough water and low and high tides, not because they are invincible, but because they know about the good that is to be had in this world. On this beach.
Life is so comparable to a beach…most importantly in that it has sand like a beach. Billions upon billions of unique grains of sand, like the 7 billion different people in this world, on this beach.

Under Our Tree
Like fine diamonds, the stars could shine
The evening breeze blowing so fair,
From the dark end I could see none,
And from the light end I could see you come,
The leaves will wither with honour,
Witnessing the arrival of the expected,
Under our tree was a house of love
Midnight approaches for two almost lovers,
Under our tree were moments of glee,
The romantic experiences we saw,
Under our tree was a fairtytale
The sentimental touch,
Under our tree was a moment of relaxation,
The sensetional periodic hugs,
Under that tree was a paradise,
Sitting there, sitting with you
Looking there, looking at stars,
Touching there, touching you legs,
Under our tree was a lost story
It was always you and me there,
The world see but it could never know,
Such our place was so nice to be,
Like proving something to someone,
Someone who is expecting nothing,
In pain and in joy, it remains our tree,
And for what the future has for us,
So shall we always look back at the tree,
And so shall we know where it started,
Under our tree was friendship,
Under our tree was more and more,
Under this tree shall be even more

Not Only Can They Squeeze Blood From a Turnip
When a society's entire financial structure,
Is based upon a failing system...
Already built upon the hidden talents,
Of those gifted with deceit.
And those institutions are given cartoon names,
Such as Freddie and Fannie...
There are going to be problems.
Ones without realistic solutions faced.
At least not honest ones.
And now trillions of dollars will be borrowed,
To pay for their failures.
If a society is already suffering from an economic crunch...
At who's expense are these fresh lies being told?
Those embittered by an abrupt awakening,
From their delusions?
Or those sold on the bottomless pockets,
Fed on having 'great' aspirations?
My mother once said to me...
'Boy, I ain't got no money!
What do you think I am?
A turnip?
You can't squeeze blood from a turnip.
Nor is there a money tree outside!
I do not have money for you and your sister,
To have lunch today!
And you will get over it! '
I wish my mother was alive today!
She would be amazed to see...
The things being done,
At DisneyWorld!
They are creating remarkable fantasies.
And...
The people leave the grounds totally conditioned,
To accept anything they are told!
'Mama,
If you can hear me,
Not only can they squeeze blood from a turnip today...
A dollar can be produced from thin air!
I haven't seen that yet.
But that's the latest rumor.'

Dont Stop
The clock is ticking, and Im here wishing
This new found love will find no end
Dont wanna feel, another feeling
Dont wanna know what time will send
I wanna stop, the earth from turning,
The rain from falling,
The wind from blowing
But dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop (stop), stop the hands of time
Hold back the time
And make forever, the same as the moment I felt your love
Youve touched my heart
Erase the pain, the memories, and mistakes I made
Stop, the earth from turning, the rain from falling, the wind from blowing
But dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop (stop), the flame from burning
Stop tomorrows hurting, from seeing the light
Dont stop (stop), my heart from beating
Keep the time from fleeting, into the night
Cant think about tomorrows fears, cause today is here to stay
Clear away all of yesterdays tears, theres nothing to block our way
Stop, the earth from turning, the rain from falling, the wind from blowing, the sun from shining
Cant find the reason, another season
Could never match a love so pleasin
Dont let it go, no, no, no, no, no
Dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop (stop), the flame from burning
Stop tomorrows hurting, from seeing the light
Dont stop (stop)
My heart from beating, keep the time from fleeting, into the night
Dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop the love, stop the time, another day, to keep you mine
Dont stop the love, stop the time, another, to keep you mine

I'm Just An Ordinary Tree
My existence
start from a little piece of seed...
First, I was bury on the ground...
Then, I showed my two cute leaves up in to world...
But it didn't end just like that...
I grow... more and more...
With love, hope and care,
I became a tree...
Tree with many leaves,
if you need some shady circumstance...
Tree with a strong wood,
if you need me to make a good wardrobe...
Tree with a tight root,
if you want to make a solid foundation...
Tree with a sincerely pray,
if you need a support...
Tree with an everlasting presence,
if you need a friend beside you forever...
Tree with a dry branch,
if you want to share your tears...
Tree with a pure dew,
if you feel thirsty...
Tree with a warm wind,
if you get cold and alone...
Tree with a full color's flowers,
if you feel your life so black and white...
Tree with many hopes,
if you lost your dreams away...
But... after all,
I'm just an ordinary Tree...

The Wishing Tree
A charming sweet youth
Wandered through life
A bit awkward
To say uncouth
Stumbling through
The toils of life
He stumbled upon
An archaic tree
Wishing on
It's old wearied branch
wishing he was
older than he.
With a subtle whack
The tree hit back
And said ‘Thou inane youth you would rather be old like me? '
With a bump on his head
Leaves began to sprout
His flexible limbs
Turned to stalwart tims
Now all that he sees
Are old green leaves
And the old boy began to sap.
Then a new youth appeared
And he gleamed with joy
'Look at me, ' he cheered
'I am a brand new boy.'
He looked at the tree
And sweetly smiled
'Now you wish you were me
A happy child! '

Me, My Dog, And The Beach
To the beach, my dog and I run,
Play catch frisbees, just for fun.
Umbrella's to block the sun,
Waves crash upon the sand.
My dog chases gulls that try to land. Sky so blue, sand so white,
My dog and I, were up at daylight.
Winds are warm and blowing slight,
Ocean sprays, dog strays,
Sand blows, through our toes. It gets cool, the sun goes down,
My dog and I, head back to town.
It's time we leave the beach to rest.
After all, we were just a guest.
All the birds have flown away.
We will come back, another day.
Just me and my dog, to play.

After All These Years
Turn around.
Don't show me your back,
Give me eye contact.
Stop staring at the ground.
You wanted me to be honest.
And honesty I've given.
You wanted me to give love complete.
I'm here to deliver,
Both bitter and sweet.
Don't shut me out!
Let me in.
Help me to understand.
What have I said...
For you to lower and shake your head?
If I am wrong,
Tell me now.
Open up and communicate.
Don't be like that.
I want to comprehend.
Don't give me a cold shoulder.
Over something I'm sure,
Wont happen again.
Can you for once not be so stubborn?
What did I say to offend?
Turn around.
Don't show me your back,
Give me eye contact.
Stop staring at the ground.
I was teasing when I said,
Your head is like cement!
But don't give me the silent treatment.
Or reason to initiate another argument.
Anything but that silence!
That silence you can prevent.
'Okay! Okay...you win! '
Again!
For 'whatever' it was...
That started this 'nonsense' of yours,
To begin!
'Nonsense?
You spent my last twenty dollars,
On lottery tickets?
And you say that is 'NONSENSE? '
YEAH!
But I won a hundred dollars.
'Why did you not say that in the first place? '
Well...
You still have such a terrific behind.
And after all these years...
I took a moment or two,
Of my time to bide...and ponder!

Autumn
You called up late
Said you wanted to talk
I was afraid
Cause you spoke so softly
You took my hand
Slowly started to cry
I can't understand
Why our season went by
Why do leaves fall down from the sky
Is the tree not strong enough
You turned away
Slowly opened the door
Said you could not stay
You couldn't take it no more
It started to rain
Tears kept falling from the sky
It did not stop the pain
It did not stop the pain
Why do leaves fall down from the sky
Is the tree not strong enough
Now I fall on the ground
It did not stop the pain
It did not stop the pain
Why do leaves fall down from the sky
Is the tree not strong enough
Why do leaves fall down from the sky
Is the tree not strong enough
Now I fall on the ground
Now I fall on the ground
It did not stop the pain
It did not stop the pain
Why do leaves fall down from the sky
Is the tree not strong enough

Sometimes I Ponder
sometimes i ponder on the useless
things that i think i have done with so much importance
for the day:
1.stopping on a white bridge in Dikayo
and seeing the flood of the brown river
seeing the floating coconuts and
some drift woods
stopping the car.
2. standing beside a bay window
seeing the sea torn into halves
brown on the shore and blue on the
upper portion
stop the reading.
3. setting aside the curtain to
let in the light from the morning sun
turning off the lights and getting
away from the hazards of the
computer screen
stopping, stopping.
stooping.
4. looking over the road from
this two-storey building left by
the Spaniards that once ruled
this old town
aimlessly.
5. stopping for a while. wanting
this world to stop revolving.
wishing.
sometimes i wonder, if all these useless
things that i do can change the world
or just my small world.
I am doing all these. Without thinking much
if the time is wasted.
i sit back on my chair. Staring on a blank wall
that is painted with the color of
the chalk.
Back to writing. The chalk reminds.
The chalk that resembles
the pen.

Enough of the Questions
Am I understanding this correctly?
Trillions of dollars are being borrowed...
And/or created,
To keep the feeding of those greedy?
And this will promote a healthy economy?
Okay...
So once this hole is filled,
The same folks are going to ensure it doesn't happen again?
My mama was an expert at using that very same approach.
She would open up a can of beans...
Serve it to us and say,
'The steak and mash potatos will be coming soon.
Eat this while you wait.
And don't worry about not having enough.
I've got more from where that came from! '
~What about the steak, ma? ~
'It's coming!
I didn't say what day.
But when it comes...
You will know about it!
Enough of the questions.
Eat! '

When Youve Got What It Takes
When youve got what it takes
Youve got nothing to hide
Youve got miles of feelings
And acres of pride
Youve got it
Youve really got it
When you know who you are
Then you live what you feel
You give what you can
And its good when youve really got it
And when youve got it
(*) let it out
Let it show
Letem know
Inside youve got it
Let it shine like a fine tomorrow
For when you do
The feeling comes back to you
What a difference it makes
When youve got what it takes
What a difference it makes
When youve got it
When youre sure of your heart
Then you give it away
And love is a promise
You keep every day
You know it
And when you know it
You begin to believe
Youll do more than survive
That the best part of being is being alive
You feel it
And when you feel it
Repeat (*)
When a difference it makes
When youve got what it takes
What a difference it makes
When youve got it
When a difference it makes
When youve got what it takes
What a difference it makes
When youve got it everyday

Want You Back (feat. Jadakiss)
[Just Blaze]
Real talk. Usher, Just Blaze.
[Usher]
Oh!
Oh ho!
(Mmm you gonna want me back)
[Is the last words she said to me now I'm wishing she was still here with me]
(You know your gonna need me)
And now that day's here, ya man gotta shed tears. Right!
(Mmm you gonna want me back)
You never miss a good thing till it leaves ya
Finally I realize that I need ya
I want ya back
Baby girl I need ya back
Gotta have ya back, babe
Heartbroken when you left my world
Man I wish I woulda kept my girl
I love you
I don't know what I'm gon do wit out my baby
It's driving me crazy (It's driving me crazy)
'Cause I'm missing my baby (Missing my baby)
I'm goin' outta my mind and I'm runnin' outta time
Oh I just wish I could find you girl
Said I'm about to go crazy (About to go crazy)
'Cause I been needin' you lately (Needing you lately)
I'm goin' outta my head and all the things that I said
I wish that I never said them now
Aww baby
What you say now?
(You gonna want me back)
And still I want you, want you, want you, want you, want you
Need ya babe
If I could rewind the time
And get inside ya mind
I would take back all my words
I didn't see it, I couldn't see what I was doin' babe
See baby girl I was blind
And I wish I could try
To be the man that you deserve
Give me one chance to make it work
It's driving me crazy (It's driving me crazy)
'Cause I'm missing my baby (Missing my baby)
I'm goin' outta my mind and I'm runnin' outta time
Oh I just wish I could find you girl
Said I'm about to go crazy (About to go crazy)
'Cause I been needin' you lately (Needing you lately)
I'm goin' outta my head and all the things that I said
I wish that I never said them now
(Mmm you gonna want me back)
Wish I could throw it back
I want it the way it use to be
(You gonna need me)
(Mmm your gonna want me back)
(Jadakiss)
Yeah
Uh Oh
Uh Yeah Uh
Yo I'm tryin' to stay strong
I don't wanna crack but i need her
And she told me I was gon' want her back
Shoulda belived her
Now I'm wishin' I could throw me back to that exact spot
Where we found L-O-V-E at
Lose some then I lose again
When am gonna win some
I said a lot of things out of anger but i meant some
I brought a lot of things to the table besides income
I just want things to go back to how they used to be
I was used to you and I thought you was used to me
Time is against me
You never miss something til' it's gone
That's my word ma
You convinced me
It might not happen but I'm still hopin'
And my heart is broken
But the door is still open
Pillow still soakin
Your boy still loapin'
Dutch still lit
And the bottle still open
If I don't get another chance it'll be hard to get focused
Give me one chance to make it work!
It's driving me crazy (It's driving me crazy)
'Cause I'm missing my baby (Missing my baby)
I'm goin' outta my mind and I'm runnin' outta time
Oh I wish I could find you girl
Said I'm about to go crazy (About to go crazy)
'Cause I been needin' you lately (Needing you lately)
The love of my life but I wasn't loving you right baby
It's driving me crazy (It's driving me crazy)
'Cause I'm missing my baby (Missing my baby)
I'm goin' outta my mind and I'm runnin' outta time
I just wish I could find you girl
So I'm about to go crazy (About to go crazy)
'Cause I been needin' you lately (Needing you lately)
I'm goin' outta my head and all the things that I said
I wish that I never said them now
(Mmm your gonna want me back)
It's the last words she said to me
Now I'm wishing she was still here with me

Leaves Compared with Flowers
A tree's leaves may be ever so good,
So may its bar, so may its wood;
But unless you put the right thing to its root
It never will show much flower or fruit.
But I may be one who does not care
Ever to have tree bloom or bear.
Leaves for smooth and bark for rough,
Leaves and bark may be tree enough.
Some giant trees have bloom so small
They might as well have none at all.
Late in life I have come on fern.
Now lichens are due to have their turn.
I bade men tell me which in brief,
Which is fairer, flower or leaf.
They did not have the wit to say,
Leaves by night and flowers by day.
Leaves and bar, leaves and bark,
To lean against and hear in the dark.
Petals I may have once pursued.
Leaves are all my darker mood.

My Oak Tree
My taste for love is what I long,
The secret so full and free
My heart of love beats every day
Because of this Oak Tree
The beauty of its leaves, we seldom admire
Oh Creator Lord to thee
How foolish our paths would have been
If it wasn’t for this Oak Tree
How quickly this seed germinated
Our eyes could hardly see
I treasured every moment
Beneath this Oak Tree
As little children we play and hide
How sweet are those memories to me?
The games we played, the jokes we shared
Beneath this Oak Tree
I would never forget this Oak Tree dear
For she is very dear to me
It matters not how grey I get
For my Mother is that Oak Tree
I watched this tree as the leaves got dry
The limbs begin to break
I fell to my knees, and begged the Lord
“Please don’t you this Oak Tree take”
Lord, if this tree should bend its head
I dread that day to see
May time give way to that glorious day
When we meet in eternity.
