Odd Balls
Who needs other people coming to deliver,
Baskets of grief as if fruit to eat.
Respect is what is needed,
To help lift those tensions,
With relief.
Expressing respect,
Should be one's prime delivery.
False sympathies spoken,
From those hearts deep in misery.
Hinders the healing of the ones who leave,
Agonies felt,
Behind them as they mend.
They wish not to hear them over and over again.
Those that are able to reflect from mistakes,
Are free to welcome happiness,
With a shedding of that which has caused heartbreak.
And doing what it takes,
To stand strong and tall to then walk away.
Who needs other people coming to deliver,
Baskets of grief as if fruit to eat.
With a convincing attempted,
To get attention as they speak...
How people who are honest and truth seekers,
Are the 'odd balls' to disbelieve.
People nourishing insecurities,
Love to feed them as if they are welcomed company.

Threats To Keep A People In Grief
How can we seek solutions...
When our denials love to bask,
In a pleasing done by deceit.
How can we non-fictionalize our lives,
When fiction is all we seek.
How can we ever expect to accept the truth,
When none of it is believed.
And how is a greatness once perceived,
So willing to feed decadence...
And allow conflict and division succeed.
All of these may be questions!
But the opportunity to answer them,
Become threats to keep a people in grief.
Threats to keep a people in grief.
'Why no one answers them? '
They're threats to keep a people in grief!
'Why? '
They're threats to keep a people in grief!
Threats to keep a people in grief.
'Why no one answers them? '
They're threats to keep a people in grief!
'Why? '
Threats to keep a people in grief.
'Why no one answers them? '
They're threats to keep a people in grief!
'Why? '

Respect, Respect me
Respect, respect me, I say
In every single way
Respect me day by day
Don’t put me down
When we are out and about with people around
Playing me like a fool
Portraying me as one who never went to school
Respect me sweet heart
Till life sets us apart
Respect my needs
Listen and take heed
Respect to me is what means love
And not those commonly spoken words,
‘I love you’
To respect me is to publicly and privately honour me
To respect me is to listen attentively while I speak
To respect me is to bread and butter my desire to be free
To respect me is to stand by me when I am weak
Look up! Look up to me!
I may not be perfect
Nor a genius of an intellect
Respect, respect me & our love will stand erect!

Undeserving
The grave’s been filled, the last wreaths laid
The last farewells have all been made
In quietude the mourners leave.
and I am left alone to grieve.
Though I behaved respectfully
as people would expect from me.
It was for show, it was not true
I’m happy to be rid of you.
You were a bully and a beast
I did not love you in the least
You made my life a misery
when there was no one to see.
There was no physical abuse
for blows are sure to leave a bruise
I was my self respect you hurt
you treated my like so much dirt
I was not allowed to go out
though you were free to gad about.
You judged my wishes by your own
you did not trust me out alone
When we went out in company
you kept a jealous eye on me.
You thought that I would cheat on you.
Something that I would never do.
My marriage vows I always kept
a truth that you could not accept.
Now kindly death has set me free
I will not miss your jealousy.
Although I loved you when we wed.
The hidden truth can now be said.
You weren’t the man I thought you were
you miserable philanderer.
The wasted years that I regret
will not be easy to forget.
Though you are ancient history
I can forget you easily.
The man that other people saw
was just the public mask you wore.
But I saw what lay underneath
a brute a bully and a thief.
I shan’t be coming here again
For I have nothing more to gain
To tell the truth I’m satisfied
to know I live but you have died.
The words “until death do us part”
are graven deeply on my heart.
Death parted us and I am glad
I have no reason to be sad.
Now you are dead beyond recall
I will not grieve for you at all.
I will give thanks for my relief
you don’t deserve my honest grief.

Respect Yourself
Refrain:
Respect yourself
Change your mind
Respect yourself
Dont be blind
Respect yourself
And you will see the light
Respect yourself
And you will find your way
So practise what you pray
Dont run away
Respect yourself
Respect yourself
Respect yourself
And you will see the light
1.
If you are feeling weak so deep inside
No place to run, no place to hide
R. E. S. P. E. C. T
Respect your destiny
If you dont know what is right or wrong
If you feel confused and your thoughts are gone
R. E. S. P. E. C. T
Respect yourself, be free
2.
Dont care about what people say
Believe in yourself and go your own way
Respect - no resignation
Leave the path of isolation
Dont care about what people say
R.E.S.P.E.C.T , will never get away
Today, we stay, and pay attention anyway
Fairplay, everyday dont run away
3.
You dont know, no, what you dont know
Like the colours of the rainbow
Respect is the name of the game
Respect yourself and you never miss your aim
If you gonna show weakness
You gotta let them know
You dont know, no, what you dont know
If you really wanna grow, say no just go

A Welcoming Of Their Own Grief
I remember a time,
When being honest with integrity...
Actually made a difference.
People had respect for those,
Who used their minds and were direct.
I also remember,
When people were not so quick...
To protect obvious mistakes made.
Or wasted the time to debate,
A welcoming of their own grief.
I remember a time,
When being honest with integrity...
Actually made a difference to leave.
And people did not pass judgement,
Before they listened to comprehend.
And today people have grown accustomed...
To ignore the message to then blame the messenger,
For their mistakes made to say as if offended...
They should be forgiven for not being accountable,
As they played unconsciously until it became too late.
And I remember the day when I walked away to leave,
This insanity to embrace my peace.

I see something wrong
Some people care about,
you.
Some people don't care
Would people listen to,
our lies?
Why are people abused
I see something wrong
There are pretty people
There ugly people
People play
People talk
I'm tired of people messing,
With me.
I guess people hate the truth
Some people are bad
Some people care
Others don't
Why do people cry?
This is life
I don't understand
Some people like to talk
Some people like to walk
Why people argue over nothing?
People act crazy
Why are people always cheating?
People that are lost
I admire people that have respect,
for others.
We are the people of the earth
What really goin on?
I really don't know

What Has Been Denied
One of the main reasons,
People don't know who they are...
Or can respect others to accept,
Is their approach to life.
And a valued place on false pretensions.
People have been made to believe,
And are convinced...
That reality is to be pretended,
And the more pretentious they are...
The more they reflect a 'version' of reality.
Blindly accepted.
And...
Those who are themselves,
And have lived reality...
From an experiencing of it,
Are perceived as being phony.
Although everything they have done...
Is based upon truth as it is,
And have attempted to deliver it.
But are criticized for being nonconformists.
One of the main reasons,
People don't know who they are...
Or can respect others to accept,
Is their approach to life.
One is taught how to live,
And how to act.
What beliefs to accept,
From those created...
And followed 'faithfully'.
And those who live not accepting,
Those beliefs to follow 'faithfully'...
Seem to live freer lives,
Without having lies to follow.
'Why is there so much conflict in the world.
Why are so many people unhappy? '
That's a good question.
And they are the ones who follow,
Taught beliefs.
Without seeking to live life,
To discover it on their own.
They follow and protest yet accept.
'But,
How can you say that? '
I've learned to stand back,
And observe that which has been denied.
My eyes have been open most of my life,
To see things as they are.
Not what I wish them to be.
With eyes open wide.
And apparently my 'version' has offered me,
A more peaceful co-existence.
And that for me is not phony at all.
I only have one face that I've shown.
Have you ever seen me wearing a mask?
To appease others doing it?
'No.'
You should take yours off.
You'll see exactly what I mean.
When you begin to experience life,
So many become offended.

A Healthier Easter
This is the first Easter
No candy baskets will be here
But we had so many baskets
Each and every year.
The kids are older now
Candy they don’t want anymore
So this Easter the baskets sit empty
Behind the closet door.
Somehow I want the Easter Bunny here
Want those baskets filled with eggs so bright
But my teens want to be healthier
So they make sure that they eat right.
They forfeit sugar and junk
No more Peeps or a big chocolate bunny
But being without Easter Baskets on Easter
Seems to be very odd and funny.
So I am putting the word out
To the Easter Bunny in my town
That I don’t think the teens will mind
If you decide to come around.
Maybe you could leave some health bars
Perhaps some fruit and veggies too
And maybe you could put some books in there
Those things could still say “I love you”.

Look What The Good People Done
They were drinkin his wine
They were usin his name
They were takin the time to take
His name in vain
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
They were havin their fun
Look what the good people done
Well, the good people say things that they
Dont really mean
They look so convincing cause theyre
So squeaky clean
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
Its a million to one
Look what the good people done
They (? put him on walkin down ? ), they said,
Lets go on with the show
And they pad him on whiskey and say, boy,
Youve got to go
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
Hes (? on the highway ? ) to none
Look what the good people done
All the newspaper men
They were lookin for names
Pulled him out of a hat
They needed someone to blame
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
He thought he was the one
Look what the good people done
Well, the good people say,
Keep your nose to the ground
Then theyll build you right up
Just to knock you right down
Look what the good people done to you
Look what the good people done to you
They were gettin their kicks
Look what the good people nixed
[spoken - here we go]
Look what the good people done to me
Look what the good people done to me
Look what the good people done to me
Look what the good people done to me
They were havin no fun
Look what the good people done

Leave Them. Leave Them Alone
When people are immuned,
To get a message that is coming...
Leave them.
Leave them alone.
When people stubbornly refuse to hear a message,
Others hear...
Just leave them,
Alone on their own.
Too many have been fitted to be limited!
So leave them.
Leave them alone.
Too many have been gifted with the flapping of lips.
So leave them.
Leave them alone.
When people are immuned,
To get a message that is coming...
Just leave them.
Leave them alone.
When people rather shuck and jive,
To realize their own survival...
Just leave them,
Alone on their own.
Too many wish to sit and make a game of it.
So leave them.
Leave them alone.
Too many rather drift and not take benefit,
So leave them...
Leave them alone.
Fools are taking numbers just to stand and wait.
So leave them.
Leave them alone.
Fools like this await for frosting on their cake.
So leave them,
To taste it alone.
Too many wish to sit and make a game of it.
So leave them.
Leave them alone.
Too many rather drift and not take benefit,
So leave them...
Leave them alone.
When people are immuned,
To get a message that is coming...
Just leave them.
Leave them alone.
When people stubbornly refuse to hear a message,

Just leave them.

In a world where discovery is more important than delivery, it's the people who find, remix and direct attention to old stuff that should be rewarded, not the people who deliver it or sit on it waiting for someone to show up.

Moments of Their Mourning
The biggest honor you can bestow,
On someone deceased.
Is to participate,
If asked to speak...
During their homegoing service.
You may not believe,
You have this skill or ability!
But someone saw it in you.
That's why you were approached...
To deliver inspiration.
Only in the way that you can do.
Bringing somewhat of a closure,
To those in heartbreak exposing grief.
Your words will lift them up and away...
And relieve them from their agony.
With an effectiveness,
That can and will assist...
To bring them in memory,
Of those happy times that existed.
And it was felt,
That only you would be able to do this...
To ease them during this period,
In which loved ones are certain to mourn.
And you need to be there...
Aware and sharing,
In moments of their mourning.
Dedicated to...
My sister Andrea (Mimmie) D. Pertillar Dixon.
These words were spoken to her daughter Shayla,
My niece.
Who felt she could not speak,
During a funeral in 'celebrating' the life...
And not the death of a close friend.
'Mimmie? What can I say?
I 'had' to lift this conversation.
I hope you realize how great your comments made
to Shayla, inspired me as well.
I may be biased!
However...
You are one terrific person.
I may be one of the writers in the family.
But...
You sure know how to deliver the right words.
And at the right time and place.'
Love you,
Larry

On One To One Basis!
How many people do we know?
Among the people whom we know,
How many people do we respect?
Among the people whom we respect,
How many people do we care?
Among the people whom we care,
How many people do care for us?
Among the people who care for us,
How many people do we like?
Among the people who like us,
How many people do we love?
Among the people we love,
How many people do we remember?
Among the people whom we remember,
How many people do we treasure?
For those we love and treasure,
We have,
The living shrines in our hearts,
And these shrines have to be maintained,
On one to one basis,
Whoever they may be,
How many of them they can be.
Happy Mother's Day.

Deliver Me
deliver me...
from the fury, the noise,
and the roar of the wheel...
deliver me...
from my own insecurities,
my unconscious greed,
and my self driven fears.
deliver me...
from my conceptual understanding,
my limited knowledge,
and my worship of knowledge.
deliver me...
from all anger and hatred
in whatever disguise...
deliver me...
from being driven by
mouth and stomach unchecked,
from what i think i need.
deliver me..
from my countless mistakes,
and the excuses i make!
deliver me...
from any kind of pride
that closes the open hand!
deliver me...
from any sense of self
that would seperate and divide.
deliver me...
from laziness and tiredness,
from bitterness and lonliness.
deliver me...
from all forms of apathy,
and the want to possess...
deliver me...
and bring me to realize myself!

It's hard to tell them when what's true,
'Cause deep inside you know they’ll judge you,
Put you down and even condemn you,
They perfectly don't know what you feel,
But still, they don't want to understand what’s real,
'Cause for them you're just the dirt in their hands,
They won't open their hearts and accept you,
But they'll slam the door and push you away,
Tell you you're nothing and stab you with the hurtful word they say.
No one is perfect as many people would say,
But in their eyes, they feel perfect and they won't listen to a word you say,
Respect is a broad word to understand not by mind but by our hearts and soul,
It's confusing to know what respect really means,
'Cause respect couldn’t be seen,
People are people and yes we make mistakes,
We try to be perfect but still, there are rules that we break,
The test of time will measure who we really are with every brave soul that sticks to the word respect and practice it,
Is a ghost of reality that haunts everyone to change what they are today,
Change the things that are wrong and learn to give way.
Good people often get hit by intrigues all the time,
But it doesn't mean revenge should come on the line,
'Cause if only people would learn to give respect to live and if we learn to give respect we'll all be happy,
And we'll never see someone crying or planning revenge to somebody,
Let's RESPECT everybody, treat them as a family.

Born To First Recognize Truth
If people were born and conditioned,
To familiarize themselves with the telling of the truth...
Less conflicts would be introduced.
More people would express respect.
Less hospitals would be produced.
And more resources would be shared...
With everyone everywhere experiencing happiness,
Instead of buying into a marketing of despair.
If more people were born to be made aware,
Of their true identities and leaving few to care...
Why some have to lie to hide their insecurities,
To mask a superiority over others.
IF...
People were born not to fear what 'is'.
So much pain today suffered would be reduced.
And none of this 'created' reality would exist,
IF...
People soon after birth were told first about truth.

In The Name Of People
In the name of kind people who aren't hopeless
The people who are looking for bless
In the name of people who have a great self steam and a great view of life
The people who help other people to be alive
The people who respect each other
People who learn to not bother
In the name of people who had pure tears
People who lived a life full of fears
In the name of people …people who will stay
People who are strong in their speeches, they don't say may! ! ! !
In the name of people who believe what is disgusting is LIE!
People who haven't seen my tears tonight…I'm going to say good bye.
In the name of people, the people of a forgotten place
People who stayed strong, even with their blooded face
In the name of people, the people who are dear
People that will cry, will laugh, but they don't betray, with their pure tear

Our Immediate Problems
I could double over suffering,
From severe bladder spasms.
Or experience pain so acute,
To drive me to puke with a sitting done...
On street curbs in view of everyone.
And not one person in my neighbor,
Would could to inquire about my feelings.
Or express a sincerity of caring first.
However...
I may be approached by someone who heard,
How I went out of my way,
To get an attention I did not deserve.
And these are the same people,
Who will declare that a coming together...
Will solve our immediate problems shared.
These are the very same people,
Who will stop to stare will announcements...
Blaring in the air,
That a unity is what the children need to see...
To establish more respect for others.
A respect they can witness to see.
And...
These are the very same people,
Seeking to criticize anyone attempting to 'try'...
To get anything done.
These are people we all know...
Who say the have no time to sacrifice,
With a giving and doing of their involvement that shows.

We Are Mortal
Where silence is needed
The advice must be heeded
Where words are to be spoken
The tongue should never be shaken
Everybody knows that we are mortal
No one can stop death’s arrival
Yet we don’t surrender merely on account of fear
Every now and then we don’t shed the tears
Where one must assertively pronounce
He should do it with high note and announce
Out of million only one brave soul may emerge
He will guide your destiny in crucial stage
What could mar your march or destiny?
Color, creed, race or reasons so many?
People may respect your high stature
As country can see in you a bright future
Hardly may you find a star among us?
To whom you can blindly put faith and trust
They have observed trauma of pain
How person can be made slave and kept in chain
It is shame to be discriminated on any count
Thank God he has blessed us with same blood count
Color is same and feelings also not different
But difference is seen and felt apparent
No people have suffered more than the blacks
What a history we have to learn as period of dark?
How much cruelty on the freedom and liberty?
This can push us to the Dark Age with full certainty
I shall pay great tribute to all those heroes
Who laid their lives else we would been only zero
What else we can expect than shedding of own blood?
Where people live in misery and die for the want of food
Let us rise and claim great respect for such leaders
We feel so much pain and grief as simple readers
How pain and sufferings they might have seen in their age?
I shall have no words to inscribe it on the golden page
