Not Without Choices to Make
Sometimes my days come,
Without extended shadows.
My mind can cloud...
In search of definition.
Emotions within me,
Aren't always bright with light.
As I become subdued,
To a darker, quiet side.
Some memories I keep,
Are not always the ones teased by pleasantries.
Although I've had lots of fun,
With those I regarded as 'special' ones.
And they are so missed,
When I sit...
To reminisce them.
And their presence alone,
Would lift me quick.
I try to ignore a moodiness,
My mind explores.
And yet I feel the invited guest...
Forced to participate,
In such brooding activities.
Some memories I keep,
Are not always the ones teased by pleasantries.
And the Sun when it comes...
Reminds me I am not without choices to make.
Although, at times, it is difficult to escape...
From the comfort of those times gone.

Which Appropriate Moves To Make
The best way to ignore a persistent annoyance,
Without letting the consistency of it upset...
Is to acknowledge it with pleasantries.
And move on!
To begin a defense against it,
Will only give it more of a presence.
And many will try to convince,
That absence makes the heart grow fonder!
Well...
In this case,
When annoyance is hard to escape...
The absence of it,
May take a little bit longer.
So...
In this case,
The best way to ignore a persistent annoyance,
Without letting the consistency of it upset...
Is to acknowledge it with pleasantries.
And move on!
A peace of mind kept that has been earned,
Will eventually learn...
Which appropriate moves to make.
And when!

Memories in the mind
Memories are made in the mind,
and there if you search, you will find.
There in the mind, so many things,
so many memories it brings.
So many years have passed,
of our youth, away we have cast
some memories happy, some memories sad,
memories have I, when I was a lad.
Memories have I, of a dog named shep,
memories of him, when he kept in step.
Memories of my friends, when we played,
of those days, for ever memories relayed.
Memories of family and fun,
when we talked until the setting of sun.
Memories of washing our fifty-seven Ford,
and wanting things we couldn't afford.
Memories are made in the mind,
long lost, search and you will find,
memories of days gone by,
searching memories, oh how you try.
Memories will fade out,
you have forgotton, what it's about,
memories lost in the mind,
dig them out and you will find.
Within The Shadows Of My Mind
There are lots of memories locked away
within the shadows of my mind.
Memories of childhood years gone by
and they are located in the dark recesses
awaiting one day to escape from
within the shadows of my mind.
We tend to hide away
the sad things in our lives,
locking them away
never to see again the light of day.
We wish not to resurrect
all their sadness and pain.
Therefore, we store them away
within the shadows of our mind.
In the shadows, hold many tragedies
of which we do not want to relive.
The pain grows constantly
just thinking of them again.
So as I close each chapter
of my life as it unfolds
the memories that bring
the most pain are locked away
within the shadows of my mind.

Memories
Memories of good times
Memories of bad times
Memories of our love
So many memories
Memories of us crying
Memories of us laughing
Memories of our commitment
So many memories
Memories of us hugging
Memories of us kissing
Memories of those late nights
So many memories
Memories of how we met
Memories of how you left
Memories of what you said
So many memories
Why did you leave me
with so many memories
Did you ever realize
that my memories are yours
Everything we did together
stays within our memories
I remember getting hurt
Do you hurt too
Let's make a new memory
that we can both share
Let's love again
in our memories

Some Things
There are some things
that are better left alone;
the past is one
for once it’s gone
you cannot get it back.
Best let it go and lay it to rest.
A lost love is another
for they probably have found someone new
and the more you search for them
the more you make yourself blue.
For there are some things
that better left alone.
The more we learn this lesson
the quicker we can move on.
Though we will retain our memories
as we move ahead.
These memories are there to comfort
at times when we are sad,
but we cannot recapture them
so it is best they remain memories
of good times we had.
As we stride into the future
new memories, we will make.
Therefore, it is best that we remember
there are some things
that are best left alone.

Faded Photographs
On the mantle place they sit
Glimpses of yesterdays
Memories of the good times
Before you said it was your time to go
Memories linger on
When the shadows disappear
Memories of the times
When you were near
Glimpses of the love we had
Memories of times
I never wish to forget
Captured forever in our faded photographs

The Ballad (Denny & Jean)
There's a cloud in the sky and it's raining on you
Still you try to keep dry but your troubles leak through
And you've lost all you could, feeling sad
Choose your reveries
Keep the good, leave the bad
Take a few of these, the sweeter memories
Don't forget them please, the sweeter memories
To set your mind at ease, the truest remedies
Are the sweeter memories
There's a life full of pain and a life full of glee
So you see that the rain doesn't mean much to me
For I know that it pays making light
of living's tragedies
Make your days be as bright
Take a few of these, the sweeter memories

Ghost In The Mirror
I've been hearing voices
Voices in my head
Can't escape the noises
Lying in my bed
The winter nights grow colder
The darkness falls too soon
I will hide till morning
How silent is this moon?
Just one look and I will find
Someone else on the other side
A trick of light or the darker mind
Ghost in the mirror
And as the dawn is waking
The shadows burn away
The sun reborn the savior
The safety of the day
Just one look and I will find
Someone else on the other side
A trick of light or the darker mind
Ghost in the mirror
The darkness calls me
The shadows fool me
Is it safe on the other side?
Is this my future?
If it's a dream why can't I wake?
Just one look and I will find
Someone else on the other side
A trick of light or the darker mind
Ghost in the mirror

Memories
(words & music by bill strange - scott davis)
Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine
Quiet thought come floating down
And settle softly to the ground
Like golden autumn leaves around my feet
I touched them and they burst apart with sweet memories,
Sweet memories
Of holding hands and red bouquets
And twilight trimmed in purple haze
And laughing eyes and simple ways
And quiet nights and gentle days with you
Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine,
Memories, memories, sweet memories

To Flourish Encouraged to Nurture on the Same Turf
Experimentations...
Dictating choices of temptations,
Explored, teased and tried...
Are not carried in a mind satisfied,
With re-occurring denials.
They are known.
They have been shown in limitations outgrown.
Run or walk around a block a few times.
The confines within it may be renovated,
And the changes fresh...
With the same steps taken made.
That 'space' still remains the same,
Unchanged!
Revamped temptations...
With updated entrances to dismiss memories.
Follow...
The same mind that allows them,
To keep them safe and from going away!
Introduced by new excuses replace them,
As if the old ones did not exist!
But they are there remembered.
To sit in reminisced places.
Façades are what they are...
And journeys without their presence as reminders,
Are the most difficult to take...
When left behind to embark on unfamiliar ground!
Unchartered frontiers can be found,
If one is willing to give up the notion...
Motivation to move forward,
Requires outside intervention...
To set this in motion.
Leave behind what 'is'.
Leave behind falling tears where they fell!
Without announcements to mention.
Inspite of promises and offers to please...
Quicken a hesitated pace to face real change!
Regrets may come to visit,
But one is not obligated...
To have them stay to produce sorrow,
Season after season...
To flourish encouraged to nurture on the same turf!

Sunny Days
Sometimes it does not take much
To make my day just a nice smile
In the morning before I go on my way
I love it when the sun casts shadows
On the dark street and when I glance
At your picture by the window seat
My days are happy when my mood
Is steady and serene nothing can disturb
My equilibrium not even caffeine
I call those times my sunny days
Because I love the sun and I feel
Well anchored while having fun
Walking around seems easy because
My weight is lite I dismiss all darker thoughts
And everything is all right objects sparkle
And I can smile about threatful things
Because I am well protected
And easily spread my wings
Sunny days are great and
I can connect all the dots even the ones
I had missed before and there are lots
I wish I could thank everyone
For those special days because it appears
That all take part in their own ways

November
How can it be November when it seems January has just passed?
Though it is a special time to be thankful for memories amassed.
Think of all the good times shared with family and friends.
Remember that time steals them away so be sure to make amends
For thoughtless actions and words against these who are dear.
Thank them for the love and kindness which they have kept near.
Forgive them for their errors and faults by cleansing your mind
So that good times with family and friends is all there is to find.
Since happy days or unhappy days are often by one’s definition,
Know you are always in charge of choosing the correct rendition.
If you decide to be happy all will benefit from your style of living
Since every day in every way you’ll wish “Happy Thanksgiving! ”

What I Like From You
i like to think that you think that i am not at all serious about memories.
memories are not like seeds
they do not grow anywhere when thrown
memories are selective
for instance in our minds these memories think that they are special
and must be treated in such ways
like an important guest to be fed and pampered
there were memories that i killed
say i am cruel say i am one of those savages in the mountains
killing innocent natives direct to the eye
bull's eye bullshit bull's eye
the man fell straight to the ravine without the benefit of any doubt
at first we shiver but it will only be for that first time
and there is the second
and there is the nth time
and we become numb to ourselves
to our own words we embrace the silence of the
whatever whoever whenever
the who what where and when
there was that woman naked bathing in the river
and there was that monkey
did you hear the sound again? i wish i have no ears
i wish i have no mind at all
what have you made out of me? a doughnut, a black hole, a grass
a cloud.

Martha and The Vandellas
'Lover...
You've gone from me
And left behind,
So many memories.'
Here is Martha and The Vandellas,
Singing
Complex and yet simplistic harmonies,
As I reminisce.
And this song I can't forget,
'Come and Get These Memories'
Says how I feel!
I wish you could come and get these memories!
I wish there was a chance,
We could hold and dance like that again!
In the Summer breeze and on the blocked street
Dripping sweat from quick steps done!
But the love we had was like 'Quicksand'.
And in it we were sinking deeper!
'Wild One'
'Heat Wave'
And 'Dancing In the Street'
Recalls those times in our lives well reflected,
With Motown beats...
And the 60's!
'Soooo...
Come and get these memories!
Come and get 'em
Since you've gone out of my life!
Give them to your new love!
Give them to your new love! '
Not really though...
You've become too attached!
And I've become too unwilling to let go!

With Ambivalent Meanderings
I feel at times I am not myself.
With ambivalent meanderings,
Followed as if I am a guest...
Visiting each step taken.
As if I should make with intention,
Precise decisions.
With a purpose to store to be tested.
My mind sometimes protests,
Logic and comprehension.
And I find it is best to let go.
Instead of seeking definition,
For everything to make sense.
When there are days I could care less,
What anything means.

Memories
Memories
All I have is memories
All I have is memories
Memories of you
Now youre gone
They linger on, these memories
All these precious memories
Memories of you
How they linger in the twilight
In the morning in the small hours
Just before dawn
Memories
Of summer days so long ago
People in the places
That we used to know
Oh those memories
How they linger in the twilight
And in the wee small hours
Sometime just before the dawn
Oh those memories
Oh happy times those memories
All I have now is memories
Memories of you
Oh memories
All those precious memories
All I have is memories
Memories of you

Fond Memory
Fond memory brings the light
And color the day with hue that's bright
And reminds us of a special someone
Whose presence is a source of joy and fun
For memory is like a shining star
That is engraved in heart from far
And whenever we feel down and blue
It comes forward for our rescue
So try to collect and keep in mind
About someone who is nice and kind
Whose memory can bring us the light
To color the days of our with delight.

Dilemmanized
A choice to pick between happiness,
Or to be slick and wicked.
Dilemmanized am I and teased.
I prefer to keep my peace of mind at ease.
But in these times we live...
One has to be either ambidextrous,
Absorbed with sex and/or on sedatives.
To be alone and happy raises eyebrows.
Only deep depression and stress is allowed.
If I should be seen whistling and humming a song...
I am threatened by stares,
Feeling out of place like I am doing something wrong.
Dilemmanized am I and teased.
Either I am being crotched inspected,
Or reviewed to be sodomized to please.
And if I turn down invitations,
To discuss immoral temptations!
I become scrutinized...
Because my life is not paralyzed,
In filth!
And there is an absence of guilt expressed,
Around me.
Dilemmanized am I and teased.
And I am doing my best,
To rest my thoughts of experimentation!
Believing the end result...
Provides a higher quality of an accepted trash!
And considered by someone's demented determination.

Old Days
Old days
Good times I remember
Fun days
Filled with simple pleasures
Drive-in movies
Comic books and blue jeans
Howdy doody
Baseball cards and birthdays
Take me back
To a world gone away
Memories
Seem like yesterday
Old days
Good times I remember
Gold days
Days Ill always treasure
Funny faces
Full of love and laughter
Funny places
Summer nights and streetcars
Take me back
To a world gone away
Boyhood memories
Seem like yesterday
Old days - in my mind and in my heart to stay
Old days - darkened dreams of good times gone away
Old days - days of love and feeling fancy free
Old days - days of magic still so close to me
Old days - in my mind and in my heart to stay
Old days - darkened dreams of good times gone away
Old days - days of love and feeling fancy free
Old days - days of magic still so close to me
