Beautiful Prize
The father giveth, and the father taketh away
Johanna prays in her bed
He drinks his beer to the tv chatter
Thinks dark thoughts in his head
When the house that he keeps with his hard won pay
Is finally asleep after his brutal day
He turns his eyes on his beautiful prize
Johanna watches her door open just a crack
And a hand that once held her runs down the length of her back
Her fallen angel lies down on her bed
So much confusion in her beautiful head

The bible says the meek shall inherit the earth
And I believe this to be true.
Just look at all- that these woman can do.
They was always the backbone of man
And they knew that thru their strength
That man would understand.
Behind every famous man, a woman was
Always there- and with them
their fame they would share.
Then slowly through out the centuries
They started to claim their rights
And for their freedom - they would
Gladly stand and fight.
So many famous women that are in
The annexes of history and that is
the way -'that it was meant to be.'
Now we're in the 21st century
And they have gotten so much to date
They are in every job field
Although a little late.
They saw their dreams and set their goals
And it mattered not if they was young or old

Just Like That
All of my life I had observed those,
Who sacrificed...
In the pursuit of their dreams.
And doing what it took,
It seemed.
Even if that meant forever...
Holding onto that,
Wish
In the hope that it would happen!
Up for days and nights.
Sometimes not having a bite to eat.
Some I knew,
Even slept on streets.
Back then when they had them so strong!
And I have come to admire people like that!
People who attacked their obstacles.
People who aren't seeking standing ovations.
People who aren't seeking a title to bear.
People who wear their dignity and pride.

People who may cry and hide their tears.
People who for many years...

Whatever I believe in

In Their Haste
I look out at the city
and what do I see,
thousands of feet going nowhere.
Every one of them has a dream,
but most will be unrealised,
in their haste to get where they are going.
Their dreams are wasted there.
They forget about the goals
that they wanted to achieve
in their haste to go nowhere.
Maybe if they stopped
every now and then,
examine what they want to do,
they might get their dreams in the end.
