I Thought You'd Be Glad to See Me?

I am totally baffled,
By your appearance.
And why you are here.

You were the one who told me,
Many years ago...
The way I lived was unacceptable.

The fact that I live the way I do,
I remember when you said to me...
How much I embarrassed you.

And when you drove me to the suburbs,
You rushed me into your home.
And insisted I speak quietly,
As to not disturb your neighbors...
Entertaining in the backyards,
While talking loudly on their cellphones.

And when I requested to sit in the Sun on your deck...
You rushed me to your garage,
To show me tools and artifacts you collected.

I am totally baffled,
By your appearance.
And why you are here.

You were the one who told me,
Many years ago...
The way I lived was unacceptable.
And you made that quite clear.

Does your appearance have anything to do,
With you losing your job?
Does it have anything to do with your eviction?
And repossessions from those possessions,
From you that have been dissolved.

I remember standing outside,
In the pouring rain...
When you waved to drive away.
And that was just two months ago,
As you shouted out of your car window...
To quickly say,
'I have an important meeting to attend.
I'm in a hurry.
Have a good day.'

And today you claim,
To be passing through my neighborhood.
But you're needing to pay the cabdriver.
And if you can borrow twenty bucks from me...
That should take care of the fare,
And all is good.

No it isn't.
What do you take me for?
Nevermind!
That's not a question.

I'm going to give you fourty bucks.
Half to pay for the cab...
And the other half,
To get away from my door!

'Why this attitude?
And I thought you'd be glad to see me! '

Zig Zags Rolling Another One

She came home today from her vacation with an attitude
Told me she was leaving me for good
Said her love had died since she’d been gone
Now it was time for her to be moving on….
Then she asked me for the car keys and fifty bucks
Twenty five years of marriage and all she wanted
was fifty bucks and the keys to the car…
She won’t get far…

The Day That She Left Tulsa

(mark d. sanders/steve diamond)
We were a half mile high on the ferris wheel
At our old county fair
I didnt even know we had trouble until
She told me way up there
Thats when my life started spinning round
My world came crashing to the ground
The day that she left tulsa
In a chevy in a hurry in the pouring down rain
With the caution lights flashing in the passing lane
From a bridge I watched our dreams goin down the drain
In a chevy in a hurry in the pouring down rain
No she wasnt showing yet but shed be by christmas time
Up there like a fool I took for granted it was mine.
She never came out and told me that I was wrong
But all of a sudden the light came on
The day that she left tulsa
In a chevy in a hurry in the pouring down rain
With the caution lights flashing in the passing lane
From a bridge I watched our dreams goin down the drain
In a chevy in a hurry in the pouring down rain
I guess she thought the truth would end up driving me away
Well she was wrong but I never had the chance to say
The day that she left tulsa
In a chevy in a hurry in the pouring down rain
In a chevy in a hurry in the pouring down rain
In a chevy in a hurry in the pouring down rain
With the caution lights flashing in the passing lane
From a bridge I watched our dreams goin down the drain
In a chevy in a hurry in the pouring down rain
In a chevy in a hurry in the pouring down rain

Undiscovered Fresh Dirt

'Did you not say this was undiscovered,
Fresh dirt?
This is the same dirt that has been here for years.
What is so unique about it? '

How it just lays there under the Sun!
Remember how it use to kick up dust...
When others rushed here to try to find something?
Different from what it had been then?

'Why 'now' is this so important to you? '

Oh, it's not!
I just thought if I told you it was undiscovered,
Fresh dirt...
You'd be the first to spread the rumor!
I had no idea you would see it like I do.
It's the same stuff, right?

'You must be running out of ideas,
To keep your name scandalized? '

Well,
I must admit...
It isn't getting any easier.
I remember the days when I didn't have to think,
To be innovative!
Today...
Everybody wants to get in on the act.
And I had been crowned 'King of Eccentricities'!
Remember?

'Man,
You are not in your right mind.'

Thank you!
At least I know you and I will always remain good friends.
You are quick to identify that.
And that is why I am not afraid to expose it to you,
At all.
Come on...
Let's do lunch.

My Big Brother

You've always been here for me,
But now you are about to leave.
I know we fuss and fight,
But I love you with all my might.

You are my big brother,
And there is no other.
No one can take your place,
And when you leave, there will be this big empty space.

We've never been really close,
But at least you have not always lived across the coast.
Because some big brothers do,
I'm really grateful for the years I've lived with you.

I remember when I was small,
And I would always fall.
You were always there for me,
And I know you always will be.

You told me not to cry,
That it would be ok.
Even if I thought you lied,
It was like my big brother saved the day.

You’ve made me laugh, you’ve made me cry,
You've even helped me hide some lies.
I love you is something I don’t tell you enough,
But I want you to know
When you leave it will be really tough.

I don’t know how my life will be,
Without you here beside me.
You've lived with me for some years,
But now we're shedding our good-bye tears.

I know you have to move out,
And start a life of your own.
But promise me without a doubt,
You will never forget us back home.

Turnaboout

As large as life she stood there
Kissed my cheek and called my old nickname
And though several years had passed
Both of us still looked quite the same
I said hi relaxed a bit
Then asked her how she'd been all these years
She told me she was feeling fine
Came to see a friend who lived up here
Told me she had finished school
And then went on to college for a year
I asked if she had married
Slowly down her cheek there came a tear
She said just an itchy eye
It must be the weather way up here
Told her I can't stand the cold
It freezes me and I can't feel my ears
We talked a bit about Mobile
And thought about how it has never changed
I told her I was a comin' home
To spend some time and hoped it wouldn't rain
She asked if she could see me then
And we could spend some time now and then
Because I lived so far away
Was still no chance why we could not be friends
I drove her to the waiting plane
Watched that big jet streaking through the sky
Thought about the sad young girl
And the time that I just saw her cry
That flame must still be burning bright
I think I'll catch a later flight today
It's time for me to go on home
And spend a day or two down by the bay

(It Won't Hurt) Half As Much

(Bert Berns)
I've been up and and down the highway
And I've seen what a man can do
To some little girl along the byway
That's why I sing this song to you
If you find your baby's gone
And you don't know where or when
You wonder, yes you wonder
If you'll ever see him again
Just remember, remember
These simple words I brought
Soon it won't hurt half as much
No it won't hurt half as much
No it won't hurt half as much as you thought
'Cause I been up and down the highway
And I watch them as they pass by
Broken hearts and I wish that they'd go my way
I'd save them every little teardrop they cry
Won't you listen?
If you think you can't go on
And life ain't got it for you no more
You're waitin' every night
For him to come walkin' through that door
Just remember, remember
These simple words that I brought
Soon it won't hurt half as much
No it won't hurt half as much
No it won't hurt half as much as you thought
Well, it won't hurt half as much
No, it won't hurt half as much
Lord, it won't hurt half as much as you though
FADES
And everytime you're sad, you cry
You feel like you...

It From Us Takes Back

What do I claim?
Nothing.
What do I name,
To label mine that I own?
Nothing.

Why am I here?
To make my presence...
One that is clear,
With my appearance.
To come and go...
With that experience!
To show those observing...
Why I deserve,
With nerve to be served!

If you have witnessed that...
Then we both can say,
All that is meant to be...
We have everything that is,
That belongs to us!
In this moment,
We trust as 'real'.
In an animation...
Providing this sensation felt!

And all that I have to give...
Is yours to be given!
Unless you choose to see this differently,
Then all that I see,
That you claim as yours and choose to be...
Has more of a significance than that?
Even though our paths cross...
Somehow we are on the same track.

And a meaning in my mind...
Yet to be defined as a fact,
To stay as is...
For an eternity that is timeless!
And time with all we say remains,
To keep...
From us takes back!
To erase all steps,
That have been selfishly placed,
To never change or deface.

What do I claim?
Nothing.
What do I name,
To label mine that I own?
Nothing.

Why am I here?
To make my presence...
One that is clear,
With my appearance.
To come and go...
With that experience!
To show those observing...
Why I deserve,
With nerve to be served!
And this...
Whether witnessed or not,
Will not stop me
To glorify
Self indulging gratifications!

'That was well spoken!
Now I will re-read it,
For clues you might have left...
To interpret a meaning,
I can comprehend.'

Sounds good!
And when you find one...
Share it with me.

Own World

Come here,
Quick!
We're hoping you can help us,
Make some sense of this.

We are diehard conformists.
To that we admit.
And those we chose to ridicule...
Had been the ones we selected,
As 'do-nothing' mavericks.
Shouldn't we have been the ones,
To have prospered?
To benefit from our loyalty.
The ones to make the gains...
With lifestyles to benefit?

In fact...
They had been those we ostracized.
And we made sure of it!
Now they appear to have profited...
From anti-social behavior,
That declared them lunatics.

Come here,
Quick!
Do you have an explanation,
For any of this?

'Well,
As an observer...
I can only offer this quip.
It seems those who chose to live free,
Of restrictions...
Are happier they did and did not quit.
Regardless of who thought what of them.
Or who passed judgement on their 'craziness'!

They do not seem to be complaining at all,
About an economic crisis...
That has marched the rest of you,
To the edge of an abyss.

And here you are filled with anger.
The ones gritting your teeth.
And spitting expletives.

You stand in a group...
Shouting in fits.
Cursing others loudly.
And with clenched fists!

Shouldn't that be the actions of those you claim...
To have been the ones isolated and brought to shame?
Didn't you say,
You all had gone out of your way...
To smear their reputations and ruin their names? '

Yeah,
But...

'I thank God I do not live in this neighborhood! '

Where do you live?

'I've been told I live in my own world years ago.
And I am so glad I decided to make it comfortable.

Thank you for asking for my opinion.
I thought I had been totally ignored.

You don't mind if I leave,
And take my peace of mind with me?
I've had it for so long...
Your question caught me off guard! '

Always And Forever

I CANT REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERENT THERE
WHEN I DIDNT CARE FOR ANYONE BUT YOU.
AND I SWEAR WEVE BEEN THROUGH EVERY THING THERE IS
CANT IMAGINE ANYTHING WE MISSED
CANT IMAGINE ANYTHING THE TWO OF US CANT DO.
THROUGH THE YEARS
YOUVE NEVER LET ME DOWN
YOUVE TURNED MY LIFE AROUND
THE SWEETEST DAYS IVE FOUND
I FOUND WITH YOU
THROUGH THE YEARS.
IVE NEVER BEEN AFRAID
I LOVE THE LIFE WEVE MADE,
AND IM SO GLAD I STAYED, RIGHT HERE WITH YOU,
THROUGH THE YEARS.
I CANT REMEMBER, WHAT I USED TO DO
WHO I TRUSTED WHOM ID LISTEN TO BEFORE
I SWEAR, YOU TAUGHT ME EVERYTHING I KNOW
CANT IMAGINE NEEDING SOMEONE SO
THROUGH THE YEARS, IT SEEMS TO ME
I NEED YOU MORE AND MORE,
THROUGH THE YEARS,
THROUGH ALL THE GOOD AND BAD,
I KNOW HOW MUCH WE HAD.
IVE ALWAYS BEEN SO GLAD, TO BE WITH YOU
THROUGH THE YEARS, ITS BETTER EVERYDAY YOUVE KISSED MY TEARS AWAY,
AS LONG AS ITS OK, ILL STAY WITH YOU THROUGH THE YEARS
THROUGH THE YEARS, WHEN EVERYTHING WENT WRONG,
TOGETHER WE WERE STRONG
I KNOW THAT I BELONG RIGHT HERE WITH YOU THROUGH THE YEARS,
I NEVER HAD A DOUBT,
WED ALWAYS WORK THINGS OUT.
IVE LEARNED WHAT LIFES ABOUT,
BY LOVING YOU,
THROUGH THE YEARS

The Odd One Out

Bittersweet is the life lived,
By that one depicted to be...
The odd one out.
The one picked as a child,
To be the one most unusual.

Bittersweet is the taste,
Of being determined to succeed...
Against opposition,
Standing on the sidelines...
And betting one this different will bleed.

Bittersweet is the one that experiences,
Observing other fall to their knees...
With qualifications that guarantees,
Them success.
But no happiness from them is expressed.

Bittersweet is the life lived,
By that one depicted to be...
The odd one out.
The one picked as a child,
To be the one most unusual.

'He is so unlike the others.'

~Yeah.
Despite his appearance,
He is determined, motivated and devoted.~

'What does his appearance have to do with anything? '

~You must be from out of town?
That's how people who live here are judged.~

'Maybe with that already known,
That's why he has chosen to live here.
And has succeeded inspite of attemtps to stop him.'

Put Off Your Old Self

As New Creatures pulled out of darkness, we've been given new sight,
But, many professing Christians continue to live as if in the night.

We have been saved to be a blessing and to give the lost real hope,
And to fulfill our awesome task Christ's likeness must be our cloak.

Believers are not to be conformed to a world that will be condemned,
This also includes avoiding any appearances of evil my dear friend.

Avoiding the appearance of evil in this day is not a new revelation,
For living above this world's standards is The Lord's expectation.

But once you submit to The Lord and give His Word full adherence,
You will be lead by The Holy Spirit, and will avoid evil appearance.

Paul told us 'to put off your old self' with the world's filthiness,
And be clothed in garments that are truly The Lord's Righteousness.

Our appearance as a Christian does more then you can imagine or see,
A Godly appearance draws people to God who presently do not believe.

A choice to be different is a sign that you have some Hope to share,
For who would go to an unbeliever to get Truth in time of despair?

You may fool your family and your friends, but this you can be sure,
The Lord, whom you can not deceive, will one day knock at your door.

Finally Christ's illustration of the Wedding Banquet is quite clear,
Ignore Christ's way for your own and you may have something to fear.

Better Sleep.

Suddenly it’s so tired that made me felt asleep.
Laid on deck no feeling slowly slept so deep.
No matter the sounds of how many beeper beeps.
I could not control myself has fallen sleep.

My tired body was unable to sit on my deck.
I pulled it go to my bed really took a sweet sleep
I did not care so many books on the deck junk heap
This is the first experience, I felt better after a little sleep

How wonderful I got back my good spirit.
After this experience I learned afternoon sleep.
In the passed fifty years I have never been so tired.
This might be a signal to train myself get rest.

It is why there in Perking teach children noon sleep.
Yes, sleep can help people get healthier.
Why not go to sleep when you’re tired?
You have better learn the advantageous sleep.

About sleep I remember twenty years ago one day.
My eye balls were uncontrollable automatically leaped
It was my experience during my long way’s drive.
That time I had to park my car aside to get half hour sleep.
I scared to drive any more when I really felt tired.
It is my serious warning to you won’t be risk on this.

Nineteen-Sixty-Five

What a year,
seems lke yesterday,
March 29,1965
is a day not
to forget.

My Wife Diana
and I had went
out to eat that night
awaken to a fire.

it was across
the alley from us
flames 100 feet high
fire trucks, oh so many.

We went back to
bed, but not for
long I'm afraid.

She went into labor
oh so much yelling
she did that night.

Diana's parents
lived downstairs,
they rushed us
to the hospital,

as we drove up
i looked up and
said this is
wrong hospital.

So he drove few
more blocks
we made it in time.

Placed her in wheel chair,
and into E.R.
I waited and paced
the floor, so many
smokes i had.

sometime later
in early AM doctor came and
told me it was
a girl.

Her dad said we
should call her
Christine, since
we could thank
Christ for getting
there safe.

So her name became
Christine Lynn Foulk
and I was so proud
to be a father
for first time.

Today March 29,2007,
Christine you are 42,
but will always
remember that
special day
so many years ago,
Happy birthday daughter.

The Ones Who Now Look Back

For most of their lives,
They did exactly what they wanted.
And signs of change,
Were beginning to glow...
With neon messages no one could ignore.

Those choices chosen,
Were made regardless of objections raised...
By those who were told where to go.

And those places told where to go,
Have been taken without looking back.

And the ones who now look back,
Wondering where those who were told to go...
Away to live in their own worlds,
Have done so to live lives...
Without taking theirs for granted.

As those who look back seeking satisfaction,
Have come to realize their own satisfactions...
Had been placed on the wrong track.
With a blaming on others,
As to where their lives lived are at.

'Excuse me,
But can you tell me...
If that boat that sailed many years ago from here,
Is due to make a comeback anytime soon? '

~I'm sorry I couldn't.
I don't live in this neighborhood.
Have you tried asking any ot those people over there,
Standing on the corner watching their lives go by?
I'm sure they haven't been anywhere.
You could spend time with them reminiscing.
And they could probably answer that question for you.~

Embellishments Would Flirt With Exaggeration

I remember when success meant to some...
To assess by comparison.
Made with pointless confessions...
When in discussion to share a narrow mindedness.

Having a good job doing less to nothing.
And being able to dress the part...
To address envy,
Had many proud to walk with pride!

Embellishments would flirt with exaggeration!
On many occasions for those overstating whims.
Once a mind has been sipped,
With a bit of alcohol during 'happy hour'.

I remember when those who were devoted,
To their creativity...
Treated as if they were shiftless and lazy.
And did not want to work at all.

I remember the ones who were more disciplined,
Seemed to be self motivated.
And did not pay attention to what was said about them.
With an appearance of an unrestricted freedom to radiate.

I remember making a decision,
That I would choose a success I felt...
To realize and was kept within.
I had a need to keep my purpose focused.

I remember when I made up my mind,
To be observant and disciplined...
Without a thought given,
As to who's life I lived.

And how successful to others I appeared,
Did not define my peace.
Or how one day I awakened to find it!
With a desire to keep it as close as possible.

Do You Remember

[1st Verse:]
It was 3 O' clock in the mornin'
And you told me to come over
Told me about your crazy fantasy
So I jumped up in my rover
Had to climb in your window
Cuz your moms and pops was sleep
When I did you just took one look
And you jumped all over me

[Chorus:]
Girl what you did to me last night
It's somethin' that I rather not mention
But you had me standin' at attention
Do you remember? Do you remember?
Remember what we did last night?
We boned on yourr momma's couch
And we knocked the springs right out
Do you remember? Do you remember?

[2nd Verse:]
You told me this sexual thing
That you wanted to do
Also that i'm the first one
You ever did this to
You made me feel so good girl
I thought that I was dreamin'
My mind was so far away
I forgot what I was thinkin'

[Chorus]

[Girl talking:]

Four In The Furnace (Bible Poems For Children)

In a far away
land,

Lived a wicked
king.

He prayed to
idols and things.

He told his
people,

Where the idol
stood.

They must pray,
and be good.

Into a furnace,
you will go,
If you, do not bow
low.

Three christian
men, lived there,

Believed in God,

All the way from
Israel they
trod.

Bow, the king,
told them so,

We believe in God,
our answer is no.

Make a fire, hot
as can be.

Who is your God?
We shall see.

Into the furnace,
you will go,

I'll test your God,
then we will know.

In the furnace, the
king saw four.

Quickly, he shouted,
open the door.

Your God is in the
furnace, I see,

I now, resign my
decree.
