I Looked At That Fool And Smiled

There is nothing like being in love.
Especially with someone who has not a clue,
As to who you are.
And shows as much respect...
As a passing stranger.

I was once told many years ago,
I could be a bank president...
If I put my mind to it.
I agreed!

But my mind wasn't set,
On the credits and debts that others kept.
I needed and wanted to 'own' my destiny.
And 'if' I wanted someone to monitor my resources...
I would select a bank.
And I would pay that bank president,
To oversee...
My property.

But happy am I,
To have those days pass me by.
And I am blessed to continue to fly.
With my ultimate ambition,
YET to be realized.
Oh...
But it my sights,
It is becoming clarified.

And 'if' you happen to be reading this...
From wherever in the world,
You may have my words interpreted.
Wherever in the 'world' you may sit.
You may 'already' have a hint of it!

The thing I own I am most proudest of...
Is a bus pass.
That's right!
The proudest thing I am 'going' to do?
Is to have my words read...
From 'wherever' you locate them,
To go directly into your head.
Enough said!

I am not bragging about that.
It will become fact.
And I knew that as a child!
I kicked other things around for a while.
Hey...
Life is a learning process.
Is it not?

That is why when I was told,
Many years ago...
I could be a bank president,
I looked at that fool and smiled.

I did not have to earn a Master's in Business.
I was 'born' a Master OF Business.

My river bank

The water hit the bank
Like a wave upon a shore
Happiness just out of reach
Finding that is something you can’t teach
No one to talk to
No one to see
As you can tell just me
I sit alone on my river bank
No happy people passing by as I let out a gentle sigh
I realized I sit alone on my river bank
Unreal happiness in this unreal tournament they call life
I sit alone, isolated on my river bank
I shall always sit alone on my river bank
I will always be alone on this river bank

Don't You Find Yourself In An Odd Position?

Don't you find yourself in an odd position?

Remember,
It was years ago...
When you mentioned to me,
I could be a bank president...
If I chose to be?

And you went on to gain success in finance.
Only to find you and your position...
Assessed as being outdated and flat broke.
And even with your 'genius' mind...
You can't make a dollar worth more than a dime.

Don't you find yourself in an odd position?

Remember,
It was years ago...
When you mentioned to me,
I could be a bank president...
If I chose to be?

And I chose to see myself happy,
And free of sustained delusions.
And you?
Well...
I can not say,
You did not make your own choices.
You've got your title.
And I've got my life!
With a basicness only happiness,
Has fulfilled.

Don't you find yourself in an odd position?
If not...
You must have adopted fresh delusions.

I Wish My Own Uterus Was Left Alone

Didn't I tell you not to use,
That kind of language 'inside' this house?

'Yeah, but mommy...
Daddy uses it inside, outside,
And 'everywhere'.'

And tell me this,
Why is it you rush to the mailbox...
When the mailman comes everyday.
What's going on?

'I'm waiting for a letter from the President.
I wrote to ask him a question.
I want to know why he hasn't replaced my piggy bank.
With the money I had in it.'

Didn't I tell you your father did that?

'Yeah but daddy said if it wasn't for the President,
The gas prices wouldn't be high.
And he would be able to buy his own cigarettes.'

The President had nothing to do with your father's actions.

'Tell that to daddy.
He said he can't wait to vote him out of office.'

And what do you think the President will say about that?

'I don't care.
I just want my money and my piggy bank back.'

I wish my own uterus was left alone.
Without debating over who stays and who goes.
Pretty soon we'll need permission to use the bathroom.

'Huh? '

Don't worry about it.
Trust me.
What you have and how it's used...
Will 'never' be up for debate.

'Mommy?
Nevermind.
I don't even know what to ask.
I'll just wait to get my letter from the President.'

Downsized and Seeking

I was once told,
I could be a bank president....
If I chose to be and wanted.
Instead of having my hands in toilet bowls.
And cleaning urinals until they gleamed,

Doing this for a company I ran and controlled.
But the one who expressed this,
Was into image.
And I was into,
A self determining ownership I myself held,
To hold.

And today,
Many banks are closed.
With many of those who presided as president,
Having been downsized and seeking a place,
Where there could be found reasonable rent.
And hopefully in a neighborhood,
That accepts embarrassments not easily convinced.

A College Going Daughter's Prayer

Lord put money in my bank
And I shall call and earnestly thank
Ma who pestered Pa to bend
To her whims and bitterly end
The fight for money in my bank.....

Ma has told him it is less
What she calls the daughter's cess
For panties, knickers and monthly chum
Things so dear they hardly come
With the money in my bank........

My account should always overflow
And on my face there be a glow
I can then, dream to start
To fulfill the desires of my heart
With the money in my bank......

My sisters' told them I am down
With a viral that's profound
I am ill and need to eat
Medicines, cherries, grapes and sweets
With the money in my bank.....

Send me Lord some pleasing news
Of good money I can use
I shall end to feign and faint
Then douse the town in crimson paint
With the money in my bank

The Scam Continued

My bank account ha ha,
I think not
My identification photo
Again I say go play with a rubber duck or something
For I'm not the ignorant fool that your so use to.
Maybe I should make up a bank name, a number, a address, a send the a random photo of a friend.
And see what happens
For it might be entertaining to see them pretend to be someone who has never left the country and try to access a bank account that does not exist.
For they are going to do one thing that is clean out your bank out
As the man who gives everything shouts, I have been ripped off.

Stand for Health Care for All

The insurance company dropped my twin brother while he was dying of cancer then the bank foreclosed his house. He worked hard all his life and even wanted to go back to work while he had the cancer and my father was a world war two veteran with two purple hearts...i am angry over false oppressive laws that put people into these horrible situations...nobody should ever loose their property over an illness or have their insurance dropped while they become vulnerable adults then have their property foreclosed on. Do I want the free market regulating things according to maximum profit? No, I want laws that are based on righteousness not MONEY. Should insurance companies have the right to dropp people who have preexisting conditions? No..The republicans had both houses under President Clinton and George W Bush and did nothing with healthcare. They resisted President Clintons administration on getting universal healthcare. They will lollygag for ever if they defeat the healthcare bill of President Obama. Don't be fooled!

Edgar Lee Masters

Henry Phipps

I was the Sunday school superintendent,
The dummy president of the wagon works
And the canning factory,
Acting for Thomas Rhodes and the banking clique;
My son the cashier of the bank,
Wedded to Rhodes' daughter,
My week day spent in making money,
My Sundays at church and in prayer.
In everything a cog in the wheel of things-as-they-are:
Of money, master and man, made white
With the paint of the Christian creed.
And then:
The bank collapsed. I stood and looked at the wrecked machine --
The wheels with blow-holes stopped with putty and painted;
The rotten bolts, the broken rods;
And only the hopper for souls fit to be used again
In a new devourer of life, when newspapers, judges and money-magicians
Build over again.
I was stripped to the bone, but I lay in the Rock of Ages,
Seeing now through the game, no longer a dupe,
And knowing "the upright shall dwell in the land
But the years of the wicked shall be shortened."
Then suddenly, Dr. Meyers discovered
A cancer in my liver.
I was not, after all, the particular care of God!
Why, even thus standing on a peak
Above the mists through which I had climbed,
And ready for larger life in the world,
Eternal forces
Moved me on with a push.

The River

When my wife died I used to walk alone by the river,
but I don’t go near there any more.
Lost souls who had drowned used to speak to me
of the lives they had once before.

Every time I went they asked me to enter the water,
‘It will clear your mind, ’ they said.
I told them that I had never learned how to swim
and drowning is the only thing I dread.

One early morning I was walking along the river-bank
and the bank collapsed beneath my feet.
I found myself being swept along by the raging current
and saw my wife drowning in the deep.

Several of the dead I used to talk with held me under,
my breath expired and I just sank.
My wife pulled me up from the river’s depths
and a fisherman revived me on the bank.

Reconstruction

So, the bank has bust it's boiler! And in six or seven year
It will pay me all my money back -- of course!
But the horse will perish waiting while the grass is germinating,
And I reckon I'll be something like the horse.

There's the ploughing to be finished and the ploughmen want their pay,
And I'd like to wire the fence and sink a tank;
But I own I'm fairly beat how I'm going to make ends meet
With my money in a reconstructed bank.

"It's a safe and sure investment!" But it's one I can't afford,
For I've got to meet my bills and bay the rent,
And the cash I had provided (so these meetings have decided)
Shall be collared by the bank at three per cent.

I can draw out half my money, so they tell me, from the Crown;
But -- it's just enough to drive a fellow daft --
My landlord's quite distressed, by this very bank he's pressed,
And he'll sell me up, to pay his overdraft.

There's my nearest neighbour, Johnson, owed this self-same bank a debt,
Every feather off his poor old back they pluck't,
For they set to work to shove him, and they sold his house above him,
Lord! They never gave him time to reconstruct.

And their profits from the business have been twenty-five per cent,
Which, I reckon, is a pretty tidy whack,
And I think it's only proper, now the thing has come a cropper,
That they ought to pay a little of it back.

I have read about "reserve funds", "banking freeholds", and the like,
Till I thought the bank had thousands of assets,
And it strikes me very funny that they take a fellow's money
When they haven't got enough to pay their debts.

And they say they've lent my money, and they can't get paid it back.
I know their rates per cent were tens and twelves;
And if they've made a blunder after scooping all this plunder,
Why, they ought to fork the money out themselves.

So all you bank shareholders, if you won't pay what you owe,
You will find that on your bank will fall a blight;
And the reason is because it's simply certain that deposits
Will be stopped, the bank will bust, and serve you right!

Bank Robber Man

I was walking down the street today
Just as somebody blew the doors off of the B of A
Just then I head them call my name
As I was thrown against the car
I was being framed

All units we've got our man
We've got the bank robber man
We don't need no reason
You're going in the can
You look like the bank robber man
I think you misunderstand
Do you think that I am the one that did it
Just because I'm tan?
Just then the officer at hand said
I don't give a damn that you are in a rock and roll band

All units we've got our man
We've got the bank robber man
We don't need no reason
You're going in the can
You look like the bank robber man

Just tell me what's going on ?
Can you tell me what I did wrong ?
Does busting me make you feel strong ?
Make you feel strong

All units we've got our man
We've got the bank robber man
We don't need no reason
You're going in the can
You look like the bank robber man

Mind Your Own Business

Mind Your Own Business
(Words and music by Hank Williams, Sr.)
If the wife and I was fussin', brother that's our right
Me and that ole woman bought a license to fight
Why don't you mind your own business(Mind your own business)
Yeah, mind your own business(Mind your own business)
If youmind your own business, you won't be mindin' mine.
Well, the woman on the party line's a nosey thing
She picks up her receiver when she knows it's my ring
Why don't you mind your own business(Mind your own business)
Yeah, mind your own business(Mind your own business)
If you mind your own business, you won't be mindin' mine.
--- Instrumental with ad libs ---
Well, I got a little girl that wears her hair up high
The boys all hollar when she walks by
Why don't you mind your own business(Mind your own business)
Yeah, mind your own business(Mind your own business)
Just mind your own business, you wont be mindin' mine.
--- Instrumental with ad libs ---
I may tell a lot of stories that may not be true
But I can get to Heaven just as easy as you
Why don't you mind your own business(Mind your own business)
Yeah, will you mind your own business(Mind your own business)
Mind your business, and you won't be mindin' mine.
--- Instrumental with ad libs ---
Now, If I want to honky tonk 'til around two or three
Darlin' that's my headache, don't you worry 'bout me.
Why don't you mind your own business(Mind your own business)
Go on and mind your own business(Mind your own business)
If you're mindin' your business, you won't be mindin' mine.
--- Instrumental---
Mindin' other people's business seems to be high-toned
Well, I got all that I can do just to mind my own
Mind your own business(Mind your own business)
Yeah, mind your own business(Mind your own business)
If you mind your businessmyou won't be mindin' mine.
Dear Lord, If you mind your business, you'll be busy all the time...

The Nightmare of Man

Man works throughout life
from childhood to adulthood.
He builds his place in heaven
sitting leap years in classrooms
harvesting diplomas for his career,
saying the best words of himself
as investment for job applications.

He daily climbs up the ladder as goal
He is obsessed of success and ambition.
From a house to land, bank savings
or loans, he continues to strive on.
But at a wink of an eye, all that he
has struggled for, all that he collects
to own, are lost and gone irrepairable.

For sure enough, the flames of fire
eat up all what he has acquired
within his years and decades in life.
Typhoon, tsunami, flood and cyclone
drown all what he has long labored.
Earthquake, disease and transient thieves
swallow up even his last bank loan.

Bank Of Bad Habits

The rumors and the stories of my past I cant deny
Im no saint ignatius but again Im no barfly
The wrong thing is the right thing until you lose control
Ive got this bank of bad habits in a corner of my soul
Bank of bad habits
The price of vice fortold
One by one theyll do you in
Theyre bound to take their toll
The wrong thing is the right thing until you lose control
Ive got this bank of bad habits in a corner of my soul
Last night I said goodbye to a dear old friend of mine
Just a throw back shell beach party, nothin really asinine
Rum and cooked animals and bullshit by the ton
That party lasted way too long and I had too much fun
Bank of bad habits
The price of vice fortold
One by one theyll do you in
Theyre bound to take their toll
The wrong thing is the right thing until you lose control
Ive got this bank of bad habits in a corner of my soul
That bank of bad habits is worth its weight in gold
Time for you to spend that dough
Youre the only one you owe
So put away those alibis
You cant fool that banker in the sky
(spoken)
Now let me tell you about the 7 deadly sins:
1. pride...thou shalt not have pride in thy neighbor.
2. coveting...thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife.
3. lust...thou shalt not lust after his neighbors wife.
4. anger...do not be angry with your neighbors wife.
5. gluttony...do not eat thy neighbors wifes ........popcorn.
6. envy...do not envy your neighbors wife.
7. sloth...do not be a slob.
And the eighth deadly sin is............pizza!
A pictures worth a thousand words just ask a cameraman
And its no sin to stop and look, I do it when I can
But you have to purge that urge to merge
You have to keep your head
Or trouble is what you will find inside some strangers bed
Bank of bad habits
The price of vice foretold
One by one theyll do you in
Theyre bound to take their toll
The wrong thing is the right thing until you lose control
Ive got this bank of bad habits
Its worth its weight in gold
(spoken)
Yeah, were talkin krugerands......dubloons

Hmm.

I Was a Child

I was a child - only 13
I was looking to be loved
What I found was the devil
I wasn’t to know love shouldn’t
Hurt with so much intense pain
I wasn’t to know the difference
Between passion and possession

He taught me every lesson I needed
He gave me validation of my worth
Unworthy he assured me with certainty
He told me I am now his to keep
He stole years of what was my life

His idea of play included pain
I felt his games over and over
Until I learned to no longer feel
He captured my soul and tormented it
Until he destroyed what remained

Left with no strength to walk away
Fear of death was his ultimate weapon
He took the power of my mind
He gave me a choice to escape
For this he would take something
Someone I loved - the life of my brother
My decision quite simply I made – I stayed.

What became of the years to follow?
I was a child – I was broken, beaten, kicked,
I was a child – I was tormented, raped, violated
I was a child – I was frightened, and wished to die
I was a child – I wanted to be that child again.

Betrayed!

Giselle and I had been toughing it out,
With arguments every day,
She loved to spend, and I was the bank
To the point that I said, ‘No way! '
Then she pouted, much as she'd always done
And she dragged me into her bed,
That was the weapon she always used
When trying to turn my head.

She spent it faster than I could earn
Though I'd had a win on the gee's,
A seeming broken-down six year old
A gelding with rickety knees,
I knew the horse was a stayer, though
In a field of sprinting mares,
And after the twenty-five hundred mark
Went rocketing past them there.

I'd dropped a grand, two hundred to one,
The bookies had thought me mad,
But I was rolling in bags of cash
That evening, back at my pad.
Giselle had snaffled a grand or two,
The rest went into the bank,
I wanted to buy a house and land
And I had that horse to thank.

Giselle just wanted to spend and spend
And I finally told her ‘No! '
It was more important to save than splash
On clothes or a picture show,
She'd disappear for days on end
Then come back, looking for cash,
And every time that I told her no
She'd use her tongue, like a lash!

I got a call on a Thursday night
To meet her up in the town,
She wanted to meet in the basement
Of a car-park, underground,
I thought I should, I could meet her there
And finally call it quits,
There wasn't a whole lot of love to share,
That part had fallen to bits.

I parked the car and I saw her there
But she stood, and waited for me,
Close to a concrete pillar, then
A shadow was all I could see,
A guy came out and pointed a gun
And Giselle said, ‘Go on, shoot! '
I heard the retort, two bullets fired
As they tore through my business suit.

I don't recall there was too much pain
Just the echoing sound of the shots,
I swayed and crumpled, my knees gave way
I thought I was dead on the spot.
I lay unable to move while she
Rifled my pockets through,
Took my passbook, spat in my face,
Said: ‘That's what I think of you! '

They found me there in a pool of blood,
I don't remember the rest,
The police were sat by my hospital bed,
They said they'd made an arrest.
They'd picked the guy and had matched the gun
When Giselle had put him in,
And he must have emptied my bank account,
She said - It was all just spin!

They thought they'd left me for dead out there,
Had freaked when I was alive,
Giselle thought she could cover herself
By telling a thousand lies,
She'd been ‘an innocent bystander',
She said, was scared by the gun,
She'd wanted to meet me there, she said,
Hit the town, and have some fun.

She came to visit and sat by the bed,
Looked sick and she cried a lot,
She asked me what I remembered, and
I said, ‘Not even a jot! '
I could have had her arrested then,
Made a statement based on fact,
But I had my very own vengeful thoughts,
And that would put paid to that.

The shooter they found dead in his cell,
Strung up with a blue striped tie,
He just couldn't face a life in jail
While Giselle stayed high and dry.
They'd seen each other behind my back
She'd sucked him in for the kill,
I hid my total contempt for her
But it called for an iron will.

It took three months and she moved back in,
She was finally over her fear,
But needed to cover herself, I knew
She'd leave, when the coast was clear!
She had my money, all stashed away,
In a locker at Central Park,
I'd found the key in her underwear
As I roamed around in the dark.

One night I said we should take the train,
Go down and take in a show,
We got to the end of the platform, and
I hustled her down below,
Down and into the tunnel, said:
‘We're taking a shorter way! '
Revenge is a dish served cold, I thought,
I was cold as cold that day.

We came to an iron grating that
I lifted, to hustle her down,
Down on a rusty ladder to
The sewers, run under the town.
I cuffed her there to a water pipe
While she screamed and kicked and spat,
When I left her stood in the sewage there
I could see the first grey rat!
