Each To His Or To Her Own

I only came into the pub for to have a quiet beer
But talk of football all I hear I ask what brought me here
And I thought there was more to life than talking of football
But with that at the Local Pub few would agree at all.

One fellow said my team doing well with stress on the word my
Methought he thinks he owns the team or so he seems to imply
And then he sang a line from the anthem of his club 'When the Saints go marching in'
His voice was booming loud and clear above the bar room din.

Suppose it beats talking of war or politics maybe
Though football a boring subject or so 'twould seem to me
But each to his or her own as they say and those words seem so true
And to them I seemed a boring man one of the unenlightened few.

One asked me what team do you barrack for mate, I said who win or lose
Won't matter much to you or I it won't pay for our booze
At which he only laughed aloud saying you must have a team
Or in your present company you are out of place 'twould seem.

Indeed I said how right you are on this we can agree
For you are you and I are I we see things differently
He shouted to the barman give the man a beer he's not a bad old boy
Though on a few important things we do not see eye to eye.

I bought him a beer before I left, thank you old boy he said
And he started to sing 'Good Old Collingwood' the booze had gone to his head
And as I walked out in the night the moon shone in the sky
And a boobook owl called on a gum in the Parkland nearby.

The Bed

the bed is all that matters now
it has become the central solution
to all the problems of the house

I agree with Freud after all he made sense
for all those troubling years of his lifetime
that to all these marital misunderstandings
the bed has always been the solution

why do wives leave their husbands?
simply because of the unused bed
where time has been spent mostly for sleeping

now, i have felt what father used to confide
that the bed, yes the bed, is always the solution
even when both of them are nearing their 60s
and father did all the bed grooming

at my age now i must agree
i must say i completely agree

we always do it on the bed and the problem is solved.
yes, we do the serious talking there.

New Traditionalists

'Who are you listening to?
How do you like this new guy.
The one that's coming to office.'

I'm listening to some old Devo stuff.
'The New Traditionalists'.
Had it since 1981.
Back then in the 'day'
They were calling this 'new wave' music.

At first...
I admit I was excited.
Just the thought of the President of The United States,
Actually 'playing' basketball.
Not golf or tennis...
But basketball.
He's coming in with a whole new set of rules.
And it may look easy,
But basketball is a rough and physical game!

'Michelle ain't no joke either.
She's already told the White House staff,
Her daughters will be making their own beds.
And with the mother-in-law moving in...
And Michelle's brother having introduced them?
They have 'already' chartered fresh territory! '

Those folks are 'too' disciplined.
You know what I'm sayin?

I don't know if this is a joke or not.
But I heard a rumor,
President Obama is divising a new physical fitness plan.
For everyone.
He's taking something old to add to fresh concepts he has.

'What is it.
What have you heard.'

Each community, nationally...
Will be required to set up H.A.F.T. Master Races.

'Hmmm...
I don't believe that.
He did not run his campaign on racism.'

NO! No...no, no!
Slice that thought!
This is his new physical fitness program.
It's both startling...and refreshing at the same time.

'H.A.F.T. Master Races?
I wonder what that's going to be about? '

Well...
The completed title should give everybody a clue!

'What is it? '

Haul-ass-from-the-Master Races.

'LOL...do what?
Who's the 'master'? '

I'll give you a hint...
Who's 'black' and 'white'
And gon' be sitting in the Oval Office?
Like my grandaddy use to say...
'I don't care who was 'suppose' to do sumthin'
That ain't done!
You see this belt?
I'm holdin' it 'cause somebody gonna get whipped!
And I'll 'Whip It' good.'

But he has such nice kind eyes.
And a warm inviting smile!

'My grandfather was about four feet and eleven inches tall.
But somehow he had us focused on other things.
And that never came up in our conversations then.'

Final theme

Everything has its color, texture, and shape.
Even if you have tried to have the best look,
Even if you have tried to have the best figure,
Even if you have tried your very best,
You still end up having a failure at making it.

Just cause you failed at making it elegant and beautiful
doesn't mean that you have what it takes to make it you.
It doesn't need to be as elegant or great as others,
It doesn't nedd all of that,
What it needs is the greatness of others smile.

Giving a smile upon ones face will give a big impact.
It will show you that you are more than what you thought you were to become.
It shows that you have the potential to do anything at your own will.
It shows that you that you can just be you.

It doesn't need to be anyone elses theme
It just needs to be what's in you.
What you have in yourself to become the best of the best in you.
You don't need to be like anyone else but you.
To give a smile upon ones face; can bring millions.

You just need the courage to make it so.
Having those friends in need,
Having those who care,
And having those who really like what you have put into your own creation.
You just have to believe in them and in yourself.

Tried and found guilty.
Convicted of my mistakes.
Trying to serve my time.
And doing whatever it takes.

Current Expectations

That sharing with a tactic used,
Gets to becomed overdone.
And somewhat diffused,
By the actions of some.

When those who are approached...
Have in the past given up their last.
Are today told and shown by the ones,
Seeking to be impressed when addressed...
That what someone has to give and offer them,
Does not meet with the needs of current expectations.

You have made more re-appearances,
In 'my' world...
Of late.
The one you said was in my head.
The one you said I lived in and was faked.

I remember distinctly,
You referring to my 'visions' as delusional.
The ones that corrupted your values and standards.
The ones you said I kept over-re-acted.
And based upon my own dissatisfactions.
The very same ones...
You now claim affect 'you'.
And leave you stunned.

You have made more re-appearances,
In 'my' world...
Of late.
The one you said was in my head.
The one you said I lived in and was faked.

Why are you not in celebration?
Could it be you taste,
A bit of devastation?
And you believe 'my' world has a few vacancies?
