Experiencing Life Has Made Me Wiser
What are you doing?
'Making it easy and obvious as possible,
How much attention you give to me...
To give others the opinion,
You can not wait to grit your teeth...
Upon my appearance.
To leave the tactics you use,
As if a child in grade school.'
But you are not suppose to notice,
What it is that I do.
'I too was once a child.
But experiencing life has made me wiser.
And apparently,
You have yet to have had that opportunity.'

It Comes For Me So Easy
If it was not easy for me to give...
You would have never known my face.
Or the appearance of it shown,
As often.
I do not try to grace you with impressions.
This is who I am.
Being me with you in my thoughts.
Being me wishing to offer to you,
Something from my heart.
Something that is genuine...
You will know from the start.
And it comes for me so easy!
Just like the breath I breathe.
Just like a tree that is there,
For what it does.
For what it offers.
For what it is.
There to give!
I want you to be aware you can depend on me.
But I don't want you to think of me as an obligation.
Waiting there from you to receive.
Not me.
I appreciate you too much.
You are life.
I want you to think of me,
As being there...
Easy!
As a part of who you are!
Since you will always be,
There for me to give.
And I can't think of any opportunity,
That comes to me as easy.
Knowing my life,
Means more than just for me to live...
With you making it easy,
For me to give!

Lifesong
to a child very young
life is
happiness and fun
to a child getting bigger
life and school
seem to be getting bitter
to a child growing up
life and love
seem to be getting mixed up
to a child fully grown
life is about
making choices on your own
to a child with a child
life is about
making sure there life isn't wild
to a child getting old
life is about
keeping your family out of the cold
to a child old and grey
life is about
remembering the past things you used to say
to a child dead and gone
life was about
your one lifesong

I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU: A prayer
My child, no matter what you do
No matter what happens to you in this life of exile
Regardless of all the difficulties that you encounter
I am always with you because
I will never leave you.
My child, try to live your life with much care and candor
Try to live your life with much discipline and truth
But even if you fail and stumble in your efforts
I will always be there to lift you up because
I will never leave you
My child try to avoid all occasions that may cause evil
When faced with a choice between the broad and easy path in life and the narrow and difficult one
Come to me and I will show you how the seemingly easy path is fraught with danger
I will show you the ultimate rewards of the narrow and difficult path because
I will never leave you
My child try not to stray from the good that should always prevail
You will often be enticed by reasoning and false logic to embrace the apparently easy and convenient way that ultimately leads to evil
Yet I am there, hoping that with your will that is free, you will eventually perceive your perilous journey ahead because
I will never leave you
My child, life is made up of many instances of pain and sorrow, of overwhelming problems that seem insurmountable
Take heart, for all things pass, yet if matters appear too harsh
Remember me and compare your difficulties with what I went through in my Agony
And you will see things in a new light, a different perspective because
I will never leave you
My child, there will indeed be times in your life when you will feel all is lost
That you have been left alone with your problems
But if you go deeper into your apparent isolation, you will see that it is you who have left me because
I will never leave you
My child always come to me with your problems with all your needs
Do not be afraid to ask me for I am rich, very rich and I will always give you what is for your own good
Through the difficulties you may encounter, remember that I will always be there for you because
I will never leave you
My child will you endure these few problems that come to your life?
Carry whatever load comes your way for love of me
I promise you that you will find rest because my Yoke is easy and my burden is light
Through the crosses that come your way, you will only bear a sliver of the timber and I will carry the rest of the heavy cross for you because
I will never leave you
My child will you do something for me in return?
Come to me whenever you can, I am present in all the Tabernacles of the world
In churches in chapels in prayer rooms, there I wait for you in solitude
Waiting hoping for even just a flicker of recognition from you because
I will never leave you
My child love me for I thirst so much for your love
You will be able to love me much when you love me in others the lonely, the sick, the abandoned, the unloved, and above all, the needy
Give to all who need much for it is to me that you give and even if you have nothing to give, you can always give the alms of a smile
You will never find me wanting in reciprocating your love for
I will always love you back a hundredfold, because I love you so much and
I will never leave you
Note: for your meditation from the Little Soul Sisters
After reading, reflect; be still for a few minutes in gratitude to our Lord for inspiring you with his words of wisdom. Let him rest in your heart. Feel the peace with Him on this special moment. Praise Him.

Tell Me Child
Little one
Sweet child
Play me a song
Let it fill me up
Let it bring me joy
Tell me how to sing along
Tell me how to dance
Tiny one
Lovely child
Give me a game
Let it make me laugh
Let it give me hope
Tell me how to be young
Tell me how to live
Small one
Good child
Give me a day
Let me have a life like yours
Let me follow in your ways
Tell me how to dream
Tell me how to love
Because dear child
In this big bad world
It’s so easy to forget

That child in me
Just like any other child, I never experienced being brought to school by a nanny.
My family couldn’t provide me one.
Just like any other child, I never experienced being fetched by a chauffer.
My father could not afford any.
Just like any other child, I never experienced being prepared a lunch box for my snack.
Nothing was there to prepare anyway.
Just like any other child, I never had a bag of my own.
What I had was a plastic bag that could accommodate all my belongings.
Just like any other child I never had good shoes to wear.
I got broken slipper; sometimes, none.
Just like any other child, I never had a good pair of socks.
An old pair of Boyscout knee socks is all I got
Just like any other child, I never had a uniform for my school.
Well, I inherited two faded ones from my grade six cousins.
Just like any other child, I was never allowed to go out camping in school.
No one could provide me the things to bring.
Just like any other child, I was never allowed to participate in any school games.
I was too thin to play any games
Just like any other child, going to school without breakfast became a habit.
Not because no body’s preparing it for me but because there really is nothing to prepare.
Just like any other child, I can hardly pay for my school tuition fees.
My mom barely had enough money after she does the neighbor’s laundry.
But unlike any other child, I never quit.
I never quit! I never quit!

To Prove What I Could Do Could Be Done
If it had not been for my parents,
I doubt very seriously...
I would have sought reasons to rebel.
Especially when I threatened as a child,
To run away from home on many occasions.
And I was reminded...
More than once,
Whatever I chose to do...
They did not need a two week notice,
To prove what I could do could be done.
'You don't love me! '
~You don't know that until you leave.
Give us the opportunity to miss you first.~

If We All Were Like Children
Once there came a child approaching a gentle brook,
Dipping his hands into the water, a small fish he took.
It wiggled, and squirmed, freedom it did seek,
It made the child laugh, and squeak.
Then playing opossum it lay still, and pretended was no more,
the child lay the fish upon the rocky shore.
The fish knowing it was almost free,
flipped up in the air with child like glee.
The child tried to grab it back up,
but the fish very quickly kept flipping up.
It hit the water, and off it did swim,
the child shrugged his shoulders, and gave up on him.
Attention being short, the child saw a bug,
ran off to catch it, and give it a hug.
If everyone were in their hearts like children we see,
then the Earth would be Heaven, and life would be free.

I Sent My Child To School Today
I sent my child to school today
With his little lunch box
When he came home he said his friend
Had gotten the chickenpox,
I sent my child to school today
And asked him what he learned
He told me about firemen
They taught him how not to get burned,
I sent my child to school today
He said, 'Do you know what they taught me? '
He told me they taught him numbers
As well as his ABC’s,
I sent my child to school today
A smile on his face
I gave him a kiss and a hug
And said, 'See ya funny face! ',
I sent my child to school today
His smile bright and wide
But an older child brought in a gun
How did he get it inside? ,
I sent my child to school today
As in every day
But the child with the gun started shooting
The reason? No one could say,
I buried my child after school today
All I can do is cry
I lost my child at school today
And nobody can tell me why.

Child Within
She loved the man
Who stayed the night
That made the child
Lord it seemed so right
Her mamma cried
And her daddy swore
It nearly broke her heart
She needed so much more
Life begin oh child within
Life begin a child within
Who can say
Why lovers part
Shell always keep a place for him
Inside her heart
He writes a bit
And people seem sincere
But she wished theyd call it more than
Just a souvenir
Life begin a child within
Life begin a child within
She fell in love
Was that a crime
Shes not a bad girl
But you know it happens all the time
You give yourself
To the one you love
Tomorrow heartbreak
You never dream of
Life begin a child within
Life begin a child within
Life begin a child within

My All/Stay Awhile
(I told you, if Jermaine likes it... then I like it)
(Don't leave
Don't, don't leave)
(Repeat x8)
I am thinking of you in my sleepless solitude tonight
If it's wrong to love you
Then my heart just won't let me be right
'Cause I've drowned in you and I won't pull through without you by my side
I'd give my all
(My all)
To have
(To have)
Just one more night with you
I'd risk my life to feel
(To feel)
Your body next to mine
'Cause I can't go on living in the memory of our song
I'd give my all for your love tonight
So put your loving arms around me, boy
And hold me like I was a cuddly toy
Let me feel that warmth of your embrace
Don't let go
'Cause there could be no sadder sight to see
Than if we were to miss this opportunity
So send me up a signal and I'll catch the line
If there's no time, you know it's up to you
So why don't you
Stay a little while, child
(Stay)
Stay a little while... child
(Stay)
Stay a little while, child
(Stay)
Stay a little while... child
(Ooh)
(Now let's take it uptown, get down)
Well since you put it that way, honey I'm gon' stay
And only your love can make Peter parlay
Let the limo leave, we'll cancel the flight
And not only will I stay, girl I'm spending the night
And if it's right, I'm spending my life all out
And if it seems like I'm rushing, then I'll sleep on the couch
MC, it's your call
I'm ready to ball and if you need me, I'm ready to brawl
And that's forever by law
Together we ball, we takin' it all
I make you feel the way a woman never felt before
I seen women on many levels, never hot and young
With a body like that, that face no flaw
You got to be heaven-sent, sayin' you's a dime
You off the meter and a seven then
You like the way I rhyme
Yes shine, I'm a veteran
Picture me and honey spending money like whatever then
We both got it
Why don't you
Stay a little while, child
(Stay)
Stay a little while... child
(Mmm, why don't you)
Stay a little while, child
(Stay)
Stay a little while... child
(Ooh)
There's no need to act surprised
'Cause there's no room to serve this right
So let's push love to the limit and life to the edge
I've only one request of you
Stay awhile
I'd give my all to have just one more night with you
I'd risk my life to feel your body next to mine
'Cause I can't go on living in the memory of our song
I'd give my all for your love tonight

The Lost Teddy
Once there was a little child who loved her teddy bear
She always has her teddy bear near her.
Her teddy bear keeps her happy when she’s asleep
The little child was in the bathroom, brushing her teeth
When a little fairy came in and took the little child’s teddy away
To a far away castle that no one knows about it
When the little child had finished doing her teeth, she notice her teddy was missing
She looked everywhere for the teddy
She was crying when she went to her mommy
The little fairy putted the little child’s teddy back on her bed
The little child went up to her bedroom thinking that her teddy was lost forever
But when she got to her bedroom, she saw her teddy lying at the end of the bed
She was so happy that she slept very well.

Give your child a Heart.
Give your child a heart, Oh, Mother
Give your child a heart.
Heart that makes them kind
Oh, Mother, heart that rules the mind.
Give your child a heart, Oh, Mother
Give your child a heart.
Heart that makes them wise
Oh, Mother, heart that fights the vice.
Give your child a heart, Oh, Mother
Give your child a heart.
Heart that tells them to care
Oh, Mother, heart that tells them to share.
Give your child a heart, Oh, Mother
Give your child a heart.
Heart that nourishes the hurt
Oh, Mother, heart that consoles the heart.

Song Of Being A Child
When the child was a child
It walked with arms hanging
Wanted the stream to be a river and the river a torrent
And this puddle, the sea
When the child was a child, it didnt know
It was a child
Everything for it was filled with life and all life was one
Saw the horizon without trying to reach it
Couldnt rush itself and think on command
Was often terribly bored
And couldnt wait
Passed up greeting the moments
And prayed only with its lips
When the child was a child
It didnt have an opinion about a thing
Had no habits
Often sat crossed-legged, took off running
Had a cow lick in its hair
And didnt put on a face when photographed
When the child was a child
It was the time of the following questions
Why am I me and why not you
Why am I here and why not there
Why did time begin and where does space end
Isnt what I see and hear and smell
Just the appearance of the world in front of the world
Isnt life under the sun just a dream
Does evil actually exist in people
Who really are evil
Why cant it be that I who am
Wasnt before I was
And that sometime i, the i, I am
No longer will be the i, I am
When the child was a child
It gagged on spinach, on peas, on rice pudding
And on steamed cauliflower
And now eats all of it and not just because it has to
When the child was a child
It woke up once in a strange bed
And now time and time again
Many people seem beautiful to it
And now not so many and now only if its lucky
It had a precise picture of paradise
And now can only vaguely conceive of it at best
It couldnt imagine nothingness
And today shudders in the face of it
Go for the ball
Which today rolls between its legs
With its Im here it came
Into the house which now is empty
When the child was a child
It played with enthusiasm
And now only with such former concentration
Where its work is concerned
When the game, task, activity, subject happens to be its work
When the child was a child
It was enough to live on apples and bread. and its still that way
When the child was a child berries fell
Only like berries into its hand. and still do
The fresh walnuts made its tongue raw. and still do
Atop each mountain it craved
Yet a higher mountain. and in each city it craved
Yet a bigger city. and still does
Reach for the cherries in the treetop
As elated as it still is today
Was shy in front of strangers. and still is
It waited for the first snow. and still waits that way
When the child was a child
It waited restlessly each day for the return of the loved one
And still waits that way
When the child was a child
It hurled a stick like a lance into a tree
And its still quivering there today
The child, the child was a child
Was a child, was a child, was a child, was a child
Child, child, child
When the child, when the child, when the child
When the child, when the child
The child, child, child, child, child
(added words by van morrison)
And on and on and on and on, etc. and onward
With a sense of wonder
Upon the highest hill. upon the highest hill
When the child was a child
Are you there
Shassas, shassas
Up on a highest hill
When the child was a child, was a child, was a child
Was a child, was a child, was a child, etc.
(fade to end)

Lullaby
(duncan)
I give you stars and sunshine
A rainbow at your feet each time you rise
So dry your eyes
The house of yesterday is crumblin at my feet
But I dont mind, I had my time
I am but yesterday
And you my child, tomorrow
Theres nothing I can give you
For you have more than me
You are the truth within your youth
I watch you dance and playing
The little prince of all that you survey
Each night, each day
I am the good old days,
And you my child, tomorrow
If I have any future
It is within your eyes
Each time you smile
My child, my child
The hand of life will rock you
I brought you forth
And then my task was through
I give to you
This wondrous view
I am but yesterday
And you my child, tomorrow
And you my child, tomorrow
And you my child, tomorrow

Broken child
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who has seen more than his young eyes should.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who would run away from it all if he could.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who has been ravished by the likes of you and I.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child with to much pride to cry.
I see the face off a broken child.
a child who fights off anyone who cares.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who wishes his mother was there.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who wont let his hardships keep him down.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who refuses to give up and reveal a frown.

When She Played It Was On Her Piano
As a kid I had ambitions.
And the first of them was to do my chores,
Before my mother would come home from work.
And she would pack them on too!
'I told you to sweep this floor.'
I did!
'With what?
A sandwich?
Do it again.'
My sister, Mimmie, would look at me.
And smile!
I couldn't wait,
To give her the spray can...
To kill the roaches!
I didn't know we weren't suppose to have them,
Until I was eight years old!
And that's not a joke.
One day when my mother went to work,
I made sure Mimmie got introduced.
She's a grandmother now.
And every once in a while...
She will mention how mean I was to her.
Nobody is going to sit,
And enjoy me getting whipped!
And that has been my philosophy...
Learned very early in my life.
Those days are long gone.
And being assigned to responsibilites,
I believe every child needs.
However...
Too many parents have raised lazy and spoiled children.
Believing one day,
They will awaken and be accountable for their actions!
Today as I reflect on my childhood,
I am glad my mother did not allow me to go to sleep...
To chance an awakening to what I knew I should do.
What I had and was going to do got done,
Before I had an opportunity to give it thought.
Procrastination,
Was not a lesson my mother taught.
I've seen parents,
Do everything possible for their children.
To wonder at a later date in time,
Why their children disrespect them.
Even 'if' I looked as if I wanted to say something back,
My mother would put a 'switch' to my behind.
AND...
I would have to fine one she liked to use on me.
That was before the calling of 911.
Today...
They would call that child abuse.
When I grew up...
We got our 'butts' tore up.
Just for looking as 'if'...
We did not enjoy getting whippings!
And I aint hardly kidding.
How does that 'old' saying go?
~Spare the rod and spoil the child.~
Well...
Mimmie and I were very spoiled.
But...
A rocking of a boat,
Did not float at all...
With Ms Edna!
When she played,
It was on her piano!
