Ducking Buttercup

In the midst of our last argument,
I did a reaching to kiss your lips.
And you balled your fist,
Prepared to hit me.

In the midst of our last argument,
I did a reaching to kiss your lips.
And you balled your fist,
Prepared to hit me.
To do it and split.

But I...
Am not a ducking buttercup.
Someone that gives up easy.
No I...
Am not a ducking buttercup.
Someone that gives up easy...
To appease someone,
Who is quick to leave.
After a plucking of me has been done.

In the midst of an argument...
I'm not a ducking buttercup,
Easily plucked when I've had enough.

No I...
Am not a ducking buttercup.
Easily plucked when I've had enough.
No I...
Am not a ducking buttercup.
I've got a backbone tough that's rough enough.

In the midst of our last argument,
I did a reaching to kiss your lips.
And you balled your fist,
Prepared to hit me.
To do it and split.

But I...
Am not a ducking buttercup.
Someone that gives up easy,
When the going gets tough!

Believe me when I say,
I'm not a ducking buttercup.
Believe me when I say,
I'm not a ducking buttercup.
Believe me when I say,
I'm not a ducking buttercup.
Someone that gives up easy,
When the going gets tough!

Lift Me Up Like You've Plucked a Buttercup

When you come around finding you have found,
You've settled down.
With slowed jets ready to quit your lippin'
And prepared to sit and begin to listen'...
You've done shifted from a drifter position.
And it's there to be gripped!
All that life has blessed you with!
ooo-ooo

Many in fits can't handle what they get.
And they seek partnerships...
That end in arguments,
Gone ballistic.
Left in realistic lethal pieces.

Lift me up!
Like you've plucked a buttercup,
From your weaving...
Through the weeds you've been sneezing.
Lift me up!
Like you've plucked a buttercup,
From your weaving...
Through the weeds you've been breathing.

Just leave don't mention...
Any attitude you've got,
That's dropped you mopin'!
Take a little whiff of me I'll free you easy.
I'm that destiny you need.

Lift me up!

Louisa May Alcott

Fragments

I am the monarch of the Sea,
The ruler of the Queen's Navee,--
When at anchor here I ride,
My bosom swells with pride,
And I snap my fingers at a foeman's taunts.

And so do his sisters, and his cousins, and his aunts
His sisters and his cousins!
Whom he reckons by the dozens,
And his aunts!

'I am the lowliest tar
That sails the water.
And you, proud maiden, are
My captain's daughter.'

'Refrain, audacious tar.
Your suit from pressing;
Remember what you are,
And whom addressing.'

For I am called Little Buttercup,--dear Little Buttercup,
Though I never could tell why;
But still I'm called Buttercup,--poor Little Buttercup,
Sweet Little Buttercup I!

Fair moon, to thee I sing
Bright regent of the heavens;
Say, why is every thing
Either at sixes or at sevens!

He is an Englishman!
For he himself has said it,
And it's greatly to his credit
That he is an Englishman.

A Bee Reflects

Buttercup, I am the fluxing
structure that connects.
You and I are the universe,
a dancing couplet specked
in the whirl of timelessness;
the flaming flowering
of our singularity.

Buttercup, I fed the leopard
through the veins of time,
contriving sequences:
the hard poetry of hunger,
the gravity of death,
a single cell to petals
to tragic wings

Buttercup, we are rolling,
though a long darkness
through our lonely selves.
We are the flickering spark
in the will of the endless way,
of the burning down
of beauty.

Buttercup

This morning there’s blankness in my mind,
which is quite unusual for me to find.
The creative process has all but dried up,
but then I thought of a buttercup.

A buttercup comes to mind with a golden glow,
as though kissed by sunlight for a special show.
As children we placed a buttercup under our chin
and were amazed by its reflection onto our skin.

It was said that if a bright yellow glow was seen,
you preferred butter on your bread to margarine.
A child’s way of passing a warm summer’s day,
as you sat on the grass letting time slip away.

Buttercup

Emotions
Up and down
up and down
up and down
Like that homo with ocd turning off and on the light switch
10 times
then stepping backwards
and doing a pirouette in reverse before he
leaves the house
Today you were my buttercup
Yesterday
I wanted to saw off your head
and bury it in the backyard next to the hamster
I forgot to give water to
I want to saw you up my little buttercup

Endearments

Hey my little peanut,
hey my buttercup,
all these things I call you
I just make them up.

Endearments from my heart
come through words I use.
I hope they're not embarrasing.
They're just my little clues

that I give to you to keep
as you're growing much too fast.
These precious days I spend with you
make me wish they'd last.

A grandma feels the closeness
that makes her feel alive.
All too soon these days will go
and then we will arrive

where both of us are older
and still to me you'll be
my peanut and my buttercup
alive in my memory.

If You Need Me

Intro:
If you need me, Ill be gone
The beds still warm where you just left
But itll be colder where Ive slept
Ive always been where you needed me
But I aint the fool I used to be
You come home all hours of the night
The fragrance on you aint old spice
Tonight when you come draggin home
And find you need me, Ill be gone
1st chorus:
Ill be gone like the moon when the sun comes up
Gone like the dew from the buttercup
Gone like a woman treated wrong
If you need me, Ill be gone
So, what am I still doing here?
Youve been doin me wrong for years
Tired of pickin up and puttin out
Im leaving you lock, stock, and house
So, bye, bye, baby
Thats it, Im packed
Im aleavin now, but Ill call back
And leave this message on the code-a-phone
Sayin, if you need me, well, Ill be gone
2nd chorus:
Ill be gone like the moon when the sun comes up
Gone like the dew from the buttercup
Gone like a woman leavin home
If you need me, Ill be gone
Repeat 2nd chorus
I said, if you need me, Ill be gone

All Shook Up

(otis blackwell/elvis presley)
Yeah! oh!
Well, bless my soul, whats wrong with me ?
Im itching like a man on a fuzzy tree
The friends say Im acting wild as a bug
Im in love, Im all shook up
Im, im, im,
Im, im, im, oh lord
Yeah yeah yeah
My hands are shaky and my knees are weak
I cant seem to stand on my own two feet
Who do you thank when you have such luck ?
Im in love, Im all shook up
Well, please dont ask me whats on my mind
A little mixed up, but Im feeling fine
Im near the girl I love the best
My heart beats so it scares me to...
She touched my hand and what a chill I got
Her lips are like a volcano when thats hot
Im proud to say shes my buttercup
Im in love and Im all messed up
Im, im, im...
Lawdy, lawdy
Im, im, im...
Yeah, yeah, yeah
My tongue gets tied when I try to speak
My insides shaking like a leaf on a tree
Theres only one cure for this body of mine
And thats to have that girl right here right now
She touched my hand and what a chill I got
Her lips are like a volcano when thats hot
Im proud to say shes my buttercup
Im in love and Im all shook up

Eye Trouble

Close by flashes
fill the night
of my peripheral vision

what's nearly there
just above my shoulder
over my straining brow

I can see in a blink
the paparazzi
ducking into dark alleys
patiently waiting for me to emerge
smiling into innocent lamplight
to trap me, like Princess Di
with their flash

Holly Bush

The Holly Bush

It was in the depth of winter
When snow lay crisp upon the ground
That I saw the tiny creatures
Which fluttered all around.

I stepped into the garden
To see what the fuss was all about.
There was a fairy trapped in my holly bush
And her friends were trying to pull her out.

But the sharp leaves stabbed at wings
And they tangled up long hair
As the fairies attempted their rescue.
They weren’t getting anywhere.

The fairies saw me on the garden path
And that I was getting near
They hid behind my chimney stack
And cried aloud in fear.

‘Stop being silly now, ’ I told them
As I carefully pulled the fairy free.
‘My name is Buttercup’, she said
As she explained to me.

That she had been stealing the berries
To plant down in the wood
Because there was no holly left.
She was really trying to be good.

‘People like holly for Christmas
But some of them dig up all the trees.
They don’t leave anything for the birds
So, can we have some berries, please.’

I did not want my little friend
To take another fall
So I helped to pick some berries
And said I did not mind at all.

The other fairies came to thank me
Then taking a berry each, off they flew
But Buttercup waited by my side
There was something else she had to do.

She waved her hand up in the air
And her dress changed to green and red
‘This will remind me of your holly bush
And your kindness, ’ the fairy said.

So, if you find a fairy in your garden
With a dress of red and green
Please, allow her to steal some berries
For it is my friend that you have seen.

I Always Gave In

Why do family attack and criticise?
Why the anger, attitude and the need to fight?
We need to be here for each other
Not constantly ducking for cover

Family needs to love, support and affectionately be tight.
It should be discussion not argument no matter who is wrong or right Neither visits nor calls unless to be used or abused
Now I stand my ground for surrender I refuse

Family can be insensitive and cause so much pain
I can’t believe after all these years here it goes again
The hurt can be so immense just so one can feel they are right
My broken heart and flowing tears afford me no comfort through the night

Family can hurt you the worst when they stab you in the heart
When all you want is love, recognition, acceptance, not broken and ripped apart So here is the message, no more, no more and take it to be true
If you can't give love and compasion then that's it I'm through.

Butterfly Wish

Vulnerable, soft and fragile
Delicate to the touch
Dodging, ducking, evading
Every attempt to clutch

Indian lore has told me
A butterfly can grant a wish
But first it must be captured
And my desire whispered to it

For the whisper to be granted
The butterfly must be set free
A difficult choice I ponder
Will my butterfly come back me?

You Put the Squeeze on 'Me

'Pucker up buttercup and suck me.'
Said the water to the never used,
Fresh stiff sponge.

'Dip it in me quickly...
And feel my wetness come.
Soaking up that big thick sponge...
Until you wiped me dry.
To keep me from a run!
Licking every bit of drip.
Catching me until you were full,
Of me and what I was.
And when it was done...
It was over! ...and you became dry.
You put the squeeze on 'me'!
Remember that! '

2-2-2ough!

Sweet with the rough stuff.
She's 2-2-2ough!
I've already expressed she's magnificent.
And enough of her is still not 2 much.

2-2-2ough!
Sweet she is and 2-2 much.
A buttercup dipped in titanium.
We 'Knowles' her 'b'...
Bey!
And oozes a doozer each time she chooses to do it!

She's 2-2much and 2ough.
And it's loved!

Piercing Nerves

Walking in fear
Observed today and done.
Is becoming an accepted act,
Enforced upon everyone.

With freedoms being diminished,
And peace less used is shunned...
Democracy isn't as quick and easy,
As a way of life to come.

Hoodwinked and duped,
Sitting on curbs and front door stoops...
Inner city urbanites fight,
Sacrificing an involvement...
To save a lost drained youth.

Daring with hustled ambitions,
To gain a respect they dream...
With fast cash and flashing baubles,
Lay soaked in streams of blood
On streets unsafe, cruel and mean!

Pop! Pop! Bang! Bang!
Driveby shots from guns are heard.
Walking in fear and ducking stray bullets...
Shattering hopes,
And piercing nerves!

Carolina

Carolina, carolina, carolina, carolina
Nothing could be finer than to be in carolina in the morning
No one could be sweeter that my sweetie when i meet her in the morning
Where the morning glory
Twine around the door
Whispering pretty stories
I long to hear once more
Strolling with my girlie when the dew is pearly early in the morning
Butterflies all flutter up and kiss each little buttercup, in the morning
If i had aladdin's lamp
I'd make a wish and here's what i'd say
Nothing could be finer than to be in carolina in the morning

Puddled Up

She wasn't a sweet loving buttercup.
Not on that date we had when I picked her up!
She had a look on her that she wasn't taking 'no stuff'!
AND if I was to ever try to get some...
She would give it to me quietly,
And take it right back
When she thought I'd had enough!
She thought with me,
Her territory could be tough! ...'.; -) '

Mysterious with intensive curiousity...
I picked that right up,
When she was scanning me!
From head to toe...
Shoelace and lips!
Oh she was quick with her fast 'assessments'!

And I smiled innocently as it began to rain.
She asked me where I parked...
She didn't want to get wet,
Or her brand new shoes stained! '; -) '
Oh
I faught back the laughter
Because I knew how to ease this 'pain'!
I pretended to pull up my umbrella...
But I grabbed her hand and ran!
Her hair looked a mess.
She lost a shoe and ruined her dressed!
She fell into a puddle.
Puddled Up in soaking distressed!
And she turned to me,
Laughing and confessed...
'I LOVED what you did!
I feel like a kid.
And you're going to see,
With me you have the best!
I like to be tested...
And yours was the best test yet! '
'; -þ'...LOL

And we laughed and sat,
On the sidewalk without regret!
Just like children would...
When they like someone they've met!

Ostrich Men

Ostrich bury their heads on sand
Denying realities adversely at hand.

Ducking down the easy escape from light
Their sand holes cover obstacles from sight.

Some men in leadership may be ostrich men
They parlay the necessity to face truth and then

Mislead their countrymen in fatal delusions
All the while preaching their vague misconceptions.

Though warned and informed, they seem comatose
Unable with logic, to scrutinize, I suppose

The warnings were given but they failed so to act
Now they censure the information and hide all the facts.

What then do we do to these ostrich men?
I suggest cut their heads off, throw them out the pen.
