Adulation Junkie

It is difficult to be weened from being,
That adulation junkie.
You know,
The one adored and admired...
Like the first child born.
Or the one lavished with praised.
Until reality hits.
And someone else acknowledged receives it.

To experience being on both sides of the fence,
Is best.
With an empathy easier to give,
To someone having difficulty getting over it.
Convinced that getting just one more fix,
Will calm the nerves.
As heard by those soothing an alcoholic,
With a purchase of a 'nip'.
Or a hooked 'got-to-have-it' addict with a quick given 'hit'.

Difficulties with women

It’s difficult to dress a woman

According to her wish,

It’s easier to undress a woman

Against her wish.

It’s difficult to argue with a woman

Because she is always right,

It’s easier to agree with her

Without any fight.

It’s difficult to find the words

A woman would like to hear,

It’s easier to keep silent

If you want to be her dear.

It’s difficult to guess her mood

So that to be understood,

It’s easier to tell her a funny story

And once more to say: sorry.

It’s difficult to explain

How much you miss her

It’s easier to give her a kiss

For her to remember you and miss.

It’s difficult to remember

All woman’s wishes and dates,

It’s easier to make a fete

She could enjoy every day.

It’s difficult to stand

When a woman cries,

It’s easier to listen

When she tells you lies.

It’s difficult to pretend

When you don’t love a woman

It’s easier to play a fool.

To play games without any rule.

There are many difficulties

You can find with women

But I would say without a doubt:

There is always the way out.

Anyone can add much more

To the words I’ve said above

If you have life experience

And know the science of love.

In Those Old Days

You may be tough.
But your approach to solicit,
My empathy and pity...
Could have been easier to get,
Without your demanding it.
But I do understand,
The competition you're up against.
And if I may make a suggestion...
You should put that gun away.
Since my first reaction,
Is not empathy with pity for you at all.

'It isn't real.'

Which?
The gun?
Your wish for empathy and pity?
Or my fear?

'Why can't you just co-operate,
And give me what I want? '

Trust me.
I'm going to give you exactly what you need.
Now that I know that gun isn't real.

'The gun IS real.
My need for empathy and pity isn't.
Thank you.
All I wanted was a decent conversation.
You were the only one I spotted,
Not texting or using a cellphone.
You have no idea how difficult it is for me,
To communicate like I did in the old days.'

So you are using a gun to do it?

'Hey...
What can I say.
I'm open for your suggestions.'

Good.
Give me the gun.
And I'll show you what I would have done.

'What are you going to do? '

Communicate my feelings,
Like I use to do in those old days.
And trust me...
You will know immediately,
Just what my feelings are.

Courage' Is A Poem I Have Always Had Difficulty Writing

'Courage' is a poem I have always had difficulty writing-
Worry and fear and doubt and question
Have always been so much easier-

True – at certain points – when required
I have forced my will against myself-
But naturally easily gracefully
I am not brave and no hero-

Still in old age
I need strive for
Quiet courage
Not to give way to despair
To fight to the end
For whatever is worth fighting for
To be strong as possible
For those one loves
To not give up and to not give in-

'Courage' in old age is difficult
It has always been difficult for me
I pray to God
I will have strength when the time comes
To do the right things.

Interpretations of Life

Many are finding it easier,
To substitute any reality...
For quick trips away,
To escape from their own
Interpretations of life!

A shameless feeding of fantasy...
Has many people demanding more police,
To protect them from a way of life...
They have allowed and wished upon themselves.

They wished to see themselves better 'than'.
So throughout their history,
They took from others...
And declared them enemies.

They stripped them of their resources,
To claim stolen goods as their 'interests'.
They created their own isolation.
And in celebration...
This ignorance was praised.

Insecurity has increasingly...
Diminished them into dependency.
And a decadence lived,
Can not hide the blight or stop those frightened...
From what now all can see,
Is a quality of life purely based upon deceit.

Many are finding it easier,
To substitute any reality...
For quick trips away,
To escape from their own
Interpretations of life!

And they wish to love what they feel is right.
But how can this be done?
When all that has been happening,
Has been condoned,
By an addiction to restrict reality.
And the price paid to keep that hushed...
Is indebted to those,
Who 'allow' them to borrow funds...
To keep thoughts of greatness alive!

And how can a people thrive on the idea of greatness?
Simple.
Standards are lowered.
Mediocrity is praised.
Availability is cheapened.
And those demanding quality...
Are taught to be ignored.
With a disrespect that comes accepted.
Until it breeds an arrogance.
With a depiction of lost independence.
And a conformity controlled,
By anything that is told!

Difficulty Of Reality

And
Difficulty is labour-pain
Out of the lustful stains
To deliver a babe

Difficult even more
The difficulty of the babe
Surrendered or abandoned

And
Much more difficult
The difficulty of the fosterer
Be a true revealer to the babe

Difficult the most
Living an untrue life
With untrue peace
The fostered babe

Half Breed

My father married a Cherokee
My mother's people were ashamed of me
The Indian's said that I was white by law
The white man always called me Indian Squaw
Half breed
Is all I ever heard
Half breed
Let me hate the word
Half breed
She's no good they warned
Both sides were against me since the day I was born
We never settled went from town to town
When you're not welcome you don't hang around
The other children always laughed at me
Give her a feather she's a Cherokee
Half breed
Is all I ever heard
Half breed
Let me hate the word
Half breed
She's no good they warned
Both sides were against me since the day I was born
We weren't accepted and I felt the shame
Fifteen I left and tell me whose to blame
My life since then has been from man to man
But I can't run away from what I am
Half breed
Is all I ever heard
Half breed
Let me hate the word
Half breed
She's no good they warned
Both sides were against me since the day I was born
Half breed
Is all I ever heard

Both sides were against me since the day I was born

Time And Preferences Change

To disobey that voice inside that says,
'Avoid companionship!
An infrequent one night stand...
Is a better trip to take,
Than to get involved...
With a longlasting commitment.'
Becomes advisable,
Especially...
When those one night stands,
Become addictions!
And they begin...
Not to make a bit of sense.
When age and the reality of it hits!

And a one night stand,
Found to be one adored...
Remembers you,
When they were once a child.
And all they want to use you for...
Is the experience of it.

Not commitment or companionship.
But the 'experience' of it.
And there 'you' are...
Believing...
'Finally someone understands'.

And you may find with them,
You are ready to settle down...again.
And from them is exclaimed,
'I am here only for the sex.
I am not here to go to sleep and wake up,
For the rest of my life,
To smell your breath.'

Remember...
Those May and September relationships,
Aren't as common as one would believe.

You will find time and preferences change...
From generation to generation.
And sex...
With another's toothbrush kept,
In one place to be left...
Is a thing of the past,
Few today 'can' or 'care' to remember!

~How old are you anyway? ~

'What difference does that make? '

0045 In Honour of Ahmad Shamlu, Poet, Teacher

She so loved Him
was so beloved of Him
that He spoke to her and said
my beloved
ask of Me whatsoever you wish

and she said
without hesitation
my Lord,
fill my life
with difficulty
for at those times
I cry out
for You
and feel nearest to You

and if, for the working-out
of my own destiny
or for the love of Your world
must I be born again
have me born
in the most difficult of times
in the most difficult of places
and make me a man
that I may walk barefoot
and bloody
with only one leg
over a path of swords

Unravelled

I miscarry a lust for life
a passion for the unknown
a will to experience and observe the most sublime and horrid of things
I miscarry another world
I cannot give birth to in this prison I was locked up in.

I miscarry a pain for the human
difficult to bear, hard to confess
the pain of a child born in poverty
the pain of a man working overnight
the pain of a woman blocked inside her routine.
I miscarry the most delicate of pains
I cannot give birth to because they sound so absurd.

I miscarry a ravishing artist
all outraged and covered in blood and feathers
that pours herself on a blank piece of paper
trying to translate complicated and alluring thoughts
into heartfelt and pointless words
I miscarry an infected sensivity
I cannot give birth to in a atrocious reality.

Such As a Bad Habit

I've been on my own and alone for too long,
To know a few things about patience and life!
And those who have not had that experience...
Know very little about sacrificing their likes,
To endure putting up with unwelcomed dislikes.

There has been many things done I did,
That I disliked but tolerated.
In fact I hated going through the process.
And when I had the opportunity,
To do those things enjoyed and liked...
Not a moment did I waste in indecision.
I might have been confused...
But not crazed.

People who spend time whining,
Get on my nerves.
And I am quick to split away from them.
In mid-sentence,
If I have to do it!
I am not attracted to 'whoa-is-me' people.

My father use to tell me,
How as a child...
He had his teeth pulled,
Without novocain.
He told me this frequently...
Whenever I thought he was just around,
To make my life easier.

'Come on, Daddy!
It's just ten dollars! '

I am one of the fortunate ones,
I will admit that!
And with obstacles and setbacks...
I crawled back to get myself on track!
I wasn't about to spend my life,
Traumaticized by emotional ties!
Or gossip and lies...
Folks entertain themselves to tell!

My relationship with God...
Is close.
And we communicate very well!
God is there...
And delivers!

I don't give advice,
Or recommend what others do!
I use to...
Do that,
Often!
And ended up being screwed.
Figuratively speaking!
Even though it is still just as painful.

I've learned many lessons in my life.
And the hardest one was to forgive and forget.
At times I am visited,
With an embitterness that sits.
it takes a while to get over it.
But I am not going to soon let go of my peace of mind,
Or happiness.
Because someone wants to show and display,
Every bit of their ignorance.
With attitude seeking acceptance.

And those folks,
In some places...
Travel around in cliques.
As if what they do is fashionable.

And after one obtains a degree of consciousness...
Folks like that become easier to identify.
Such as a bad habit,
One has to end to quit...
And quick!
Like a fad that has been outdated.

See Yourself

Its easier to tell a lie than it is to tell the truth
Its easier to kill a fly than it is to turn it loose
Its easier to criticize somebody else
Than to see yourself
Its easier to give a sigh and be like all the rest
Who stand around and crucify you while you do your best
Its easier to see the books upon the shelf
Than to see yourself
Its easier to hurt someone and make them cry
Than it is to dry their eyes
I got tired of fooling around with other peoples lies
Rather Id find someone thats true
Its easier to say you wont than it is to feel you can
Its easier to drag your feet than it is to be a man
Its easier to look at someone eless wealth
Than to see yourself

Too Fearful To Fully Grasp

It is much easier for me,
To be very patience with a child...
Asking questions about life.
Than it is for me to answer,
Those same questions asked...
By one who appears to be an adult.
But has a mind of a child.
And the simple aspects of life,
They have yet to experience.
Or too fearful to fully grasp,
With a faith they claim to have...
To explore and adventure.
A living of life to fake it...
Is difficult to explain,
To anyone seeking how best to live it...
On their terms AND with expectations.

Give this child what she needs

Give this child what she needs

Me Neither!

Would you be convinced,
Someone who had spent decades...
Providing evidence to others,
With a making of logical sense...
That a way to achieve bona fided success,
Seen without question...
Came with a dedicated implementation,
Of motivation, discipline and the giving of respect?

And these same people,
Who just yesterday...
Are today embracing reality,
With a newly acquired consciousness.
Would you be convinced of this?

'Well, I...uh...? '

Me neither!
That kind of reality coming to many overnight,
Would be too frightening for anyone to fathom.

'It, it..well...I..I...'

Relax.
It's not going to happen.
My question was hypothetical.
Calm down.
There is no need to break out into a sweat.

Elated To Have Been Distanced

From which side are those with kept delusions,
Would 'they' say are most difficult to view?
Those on the side witnessing their values diminished,
By the ones they've entrusted to keep them endeared?
Or the ones advocating the others to be fools,
To dismiss those standards hyped as reality...
When both sides refuse to accept reality as it appears,
With a denying of its existence?

And those censored as nonconformists,
Who continue to offend them with truth...
Are defamed on a daily basis,
For their attempts to introduce truth to them.

From which side are those with kept delusions,
Would 'they' say are most difficult to view?
When both sides refuse to accept reality as it appears,
With a denying of its existence?
And those censored as nonconformists,
Sing their praises to be the ones isolated...
To view all of this from a higher consciousness.
And elated to have been distanced.
