A Happiness Kept Has Retired
It is sad to see those achieve a status,
That had accomplished a goal to have it unfold...
Before their eyes.
And caught by surprise,
How fast time flies.
And to stand by and wonder,
What to them does it mean...
To have spent an entire lifetime,
Assisting someone else pursue their dreams.
With a devoted talent applied...
That could have been used,
To do their own 'thing'.
But a focus was maintained...
On obtaining materialism to claim,
And the glittering of 'bling'...
Fading to a rust as a game well played,
Does a belly up or is discovered to be corrupt.
With nothing left to show for a loyalty...
But a title given,
Expressed to others once impressed.
Who today no longer address it.
Although memories and a happiness kept,
Has retired from those activities...
Without a spark left to live one can say,
Feels as if to them belongs as an emptiness felt...
Goes on.
And everyday,
More and more of these sad faces...
Have looks of dismay that have been betrayed.

Surprisingly Alive
Happiness is gone, it disappeared
It played me for years making me feel I deserved it
It was positive, and left me an optimist
I saw life through different eyes with happiness
It made me see what cannot be seen
It made me feel feelings I had not bothered to explore
I felt free beneath it's control
I felt invincible in it's arms
Happiness was my everything, it was my soul
It was what kept me moving forward
It was what made me want to live, to breath, to be
Then one day it left, it walked out on me
It left nothing behind but memories I could not have again
It walked out and never looked back
It walked out on me when I needed it the most
It pretended like nothing ever happened between us
Happiness kicked me towards sadness, it shoved me towards it
Then it left after it saw what happened
It got weak and left me alone
It left me crying behind the door
It left me bleeding on the bathroom floor
It left me wishing I had never lived
It left me screaming into my pillow in pain with sadness
It left me walking aimlessly at night with tears crawling down my face
It left me with the words 'I give up' floating above my head
It left me imagining what death would taste like
It left me cold, scared, hopeless, alone
It left...

Who Am I to Deny It Promise?
If I am not living my life today...
With the fulness that I should,
To be left feeling betrayed.
Then everyday I have lived my life,
Has been invalidated.
If I can say,
I am not living my life today.
I am dreamless without hope.
I give empty reasons to mope!
I am a vacant shell...
Existing in a hell I've created.
If I am not living my life today!
Where did I store those memories?
When did any happiness come to leave?
Why am I not pleased...
With anything that comes my way?
If I can say,
I am not living my life today!
And I breathe just to witness my breath...
Fade away into a nothingness.
If I am not living my life today...
What is this,
That IS!
And 'who' am I,
To deny 'it' promise?
Like a gift one receives...
Selfishly to leave unwrapped.
Can I honestly believe,
I am not worthy to do that?
If I am not living my life today...
Perhaps I should.
And unpack...
From sorrows deeply stacked.
Trapping my sight in darkness,
Without daylight I alone hold back.
If I am not living my life today...
With the fulness that I should,
To be left feeling betrayed.
Then everyday I have lived my life,
Has been invalidated.
And I know there is 'something' I value,
I can give!
To say 'that' is the reason,
I am here to live!
If I can remove myself...
To cast shadows,
Instead of finding an escape within them.
To live and let my life,
Be the one I have and learn to like!
Unfrightened.

Of Lost Joy...And Fading Memories.
I have suddenly realized I have lost it.
I have lost the joy that was in my life.
When did that happen?
I don't know the exact day...however
as near as I can figure out, it happened
slowly. Ever so slowly...almost unperceptively.
Of course the joy in ones life manifests itself
through that in life that one loves. And so...
mine...my joy, slowly left...as those I love were
no longer in my life. Some of it left, when I
moved...and left behind the drooping willows that
fronted the house I no longer have. The house
where so many beautiful memories were born.
Lots of it left...when the friends of a lifetime
were house in places I no longer went to. It left when
I stopped the ritual of fine dining in places where I
was known by name. It left with scores of doormen,
and servers that I had grow found of.
Most of it...most of my joy, left with family...when came
the day when holidays and other celebrations no longer
was a part of my life.
I miss the joy in my life. I miss all the loved ones
that I shall never see again. Some dead...some
scattered like leaves in the wind, to the far
corners of the earth.
As I grow older, faded memories of joy become less
vivid. Until...a day like today...when something

Chasing Their Dreams
No one or anyone prevented them,
From chasing their dreams...
No!
No one would.
No!
No one could.
And when anyone has material things,
That glistens their bling...
A way is found to obtain them,
Legitimately.
Or, clandestine to shine in their minds.
'Cause...
No one can intervene or prevent,
One who is chasing dreams...
No!
No one would.
No!
Or stop them if they could.
No one can or prevent one who is...
Chasing their dreams...
No!
No one would,
If they...
Thought they could.
And then a time comes when achievements,
Have been done...
That one will wish for a life simplistic,
With someone.
Remembered from a past that was happy and basic,
But...
They left them fast to chase,
After their dreams.
OH...
No one or anyone prevented them,
From chasing their dreams...
No!
No one would.
No!
No one could.
OH...
No one or anyone prevented them,
From chasing their dreams...
No!
No one would.
No!
No one could.
And today a basicness is wished,
But...
No one or anyone prevented them,
From chasing their dreams...
No!
No one would.
No!
No one could.
Today a basicness is wished,
But...
Chasing their dreams,
Left them...
Caught up in schemes.
And...
No one could prevent them,
From...
Chasing their dreams...
No!
No one would.
No!
No one could.

And then there were none
There were ten
Waiting by the road
Ready for a journey
Of an entire lifetime
The ten crossed the lake,
But the tenth was too scared
He left the others to their fates
And departed with some joy.
And then there were nine
Walking by the road,
Engrossed in the journey
Of an entire lifetime
The nine walked over a bridge
But the ninth saw a beauty
Pursued her, leaving the rest
And sealed his own fate
And then there were eight
Walking by the road,
Engrossed in the journey
Of an entire lifetime.
As they walked by the gorge,
The eighth saw a tree
Laden with fruits. Hunger
Consumed his life away
And then there were seven
Walking by the road,
Engrossed in the journey
Of an entire lifetime.
As they walked by the mountain
Cold consumed their hearts.
The seventh saw a route
To escape from the way.
And then there were six
Walking by the road,
Engrossed in the journey
Of an entire lifetime.
The trail went on and on
Never showed a sign of ending
The sixth lost all hope
And left the party, disgruntled.
And then there were five
Walking by the road,
Engrossed in the journey
Of an entire lifetime.
As they walked by the desert
Their throats parched
The fifth simply
Lost the will to carry on.
And then there were four
Walking by the road,
Engrossed in the journey
Of an entire lifetime.
They walked by the river..
And the fourth saw
His family dead. Grief
Caused him to kill himself.
And then there were three
Walking by the road,
Engrossed in the journey
Of an entire lifetime.
They walked into the cave
And the third saw gold.
Left the journey and
Retired to a new world.
And then there were two
Walking by the road,
Engrossed in the journey
Of an entire lifetime.
They walked by the plain
Feet overcome with pain
They began to hate the other
And the second lay dead.
And then there was one
Walking by the road,
Engrossed in the journey
Of an entire lifetime.
He struggled to reach the box
His left hand stretched
But at the moment of glory
His wounds killed him.
And then there were none.
Walking by the road,
Consumed by the journey
Of an entire lifetime.

Who are you today my brother?
I have a question for you my dear brother
Tell me..who are you today
We both know the reason I'm asking
You're health has left you this way
I ask myself the same question
The answer is always the same
But you my dear long lost brother
Its like playing a guessing game
Medication dulls all your senses
For most that's a terrible crime
But for you my dear younger brother
It brings you some quality time
You live in a clear social bubble
Unaffected by worldly strife
In your youth you were just my young brother
Now your lost for the rest of your life
You dont know when its me on the phone
Unaware of how old you are
I remember the days spent together
Working hard on your latest 'new' car
All thats left are some polaroid photos
Taken when we were having a laugh
All thats left of our time with each other
Memories fading every day not by half
Schizophrenia the name that it is given
To many it means not a thing
Yet to you and I my young brother
Its a term that means everything

Wasting It On Wishes
Never again will I view my disappointments as man made.
I use to believe my wishes had to meet someone's approval.
Before I could express my happiness.
Now it is so clear...
My happiness has to be expressed.
Whatever the outcome and throughout the process.
How can I rely on someone giving to me,
What inside of me I am not feeding?
Or digesting as that which belongs.
I want what I deserve served to stay.
I've learned to nibble each spice of life I like.
It prolongs the taste.
And wasting it on wishes for someone else...
To define,
Was an awakening I found...
Left me impatiently waiting.
With preferences.
Picked and selected.
For me?
And I had my own menu right in my hands.
All of it prepared to my specifications....
If I noticed?
Finally,
In time I did.
Once I maintained my focus.
And relied on choices I made.
Whether some pleased or not.
And if something I was to eat,
Came to meet my satisfaction...
Indecisiveness of doubts,
Would have to dropp and be stopped.
And finally...
In time,
'They' did!

The Only Thing I Care About
She had the eyes of some one older,
I have eyes that wonder 'round,
I couldn't see what really mattered,
Caught hell from my boss,
Don't care about my job,
Caught a cold from the rain,
Don't care if I'm cold,
Played every record that I own to date,
but the only thing I cared about got away,
She was a walking work of art,
I am a broken wind-up-toy,
I thought I knew what really mattered,
Got a flat on the road,
Don't care about my car,
Lost 26 bucks bucks,
Don't care about my rent,
Caught every episode on TV today,
but the only thing I care about got away,
She had a brilliant future,
I have a past,
I have my momories,
but they're fading fast,
Caught Hell from my boss,
Don't care about my job,
Caught a cold from the rain,
Don't care if I'm cold,
Played every record that I own to date,
But the only thing I care about got away,
but the only thing I care about got away,
But the only thing I care about got away...

Distant From A Discipline Given
Rudderless and left to float...
Our children today,
Are left with emotions remoted.
And devoted to show,
The little they know about life.
With a disrespect...
Close but yet so distant from a discipline given.
With expectations limited to a failure praised...
And parental guidance,
Are never questions amongst themselves raised.
Well,
Simply put...
Many of our children today,
No longer fantasize about having strict parents.
Or...
Think of it,
As a human betrayal...
Omitted from their existence.
Rudderless and left to float...
Our children today,
Are left with emotions remoted.
And devoted to show,
The little they know about life.
With a disrespect...
Close but yet so distant from a discipline given.
And 'we',
Seem so afraid...
To be their example of mature adult men,
And no nonsense taking women!

Feels Like The First Time
I would climb any mountain
Sail across a stormy sea
If thats what it takes me baby
To show you how much you mean to me
And I guess its just the woman in you
That brings out the man in me
I know I cant help myself
Youre all in the world to me
It feels like the first time
Feels like the very first time
It feels like the first time
It feels like the very first time
I have waited a lifetime
Spent my time so foolishly
But now that Ive found you
Together well make history
And I know that it must be the woman in you
That brings out the man in me
I know I cant help myself
Youre all that my eyes can see
And it feels like the first time
Like it never did before
Feels like the first time
Like weve opened up the door
Feels like the first time
Like it never will again, never again
Feels like the first time, it feels like the first time
It feels like the very first time, very, very, it feels
It feels like the first time, oh it feels like the first time
It feels like the very first time
Open up the door, wont you open up the door? yeah
Feels like the first time
And it feels like the very first time
And it feels like the first time
It feels like the very first time
And it feels like the first time
It feels like the very first time
Oh it feels, it feels like the first time
Yeah it feels like the first time

Turtledoves Now Cries
My findings are now lost in time
I will have to wait until next lifetime to find again
Gone now like the seasons
Dashed ashore by the tides of change to be smashed against the rocks of time
Gone out of my life love taken true
Winds beneath my sails are now calm as the sea in late July
My words of melancholy now fall on deaf ears
Sacrifice the moments gone bye
New days has dawned and behind left the soul of my true content
Ever more I should try before I die
Desists yet my wondering soul for I have lost true love gone bye
Wait no more for my heart has been plundered
My dreams dashed and pillaged I seek no more in vein
Trod on lonesome soldier for tomorrow was never promised to I
Left now are memories of days spent in my happiness
Disillusion is what I see for my tender years to come
Woe for I miss the days when life zest blossomed specially
Years so precious can never renew
Forged alliances now in dismay
The hour is upon us all now
No longer for the taking for turtledoves now cries

King For A Day
Bled the line tonight
fading as the lies lay weeping on the page
nothing was saved
falling at the sight
photographs of white bright grin and sunny days
and all was betrayed
and i think i know
the reason that your light would never stay
and all thats left to show
are memories now but i can truly say
i was king for a day
and i think i know
the reason that your light would never stay
and all thats left to show
are memories now but i can truly say
i was king for a day

To Agitate A Childish Game
Sometimes I am tempted,
To agitate a childish game...
That has been played.
Just to feel and see it done...
To throw it back in someone's face.
But games played like that,
Have long passed their attraction.
Although so many are caught up in them...
With an immaturity that seeks as shown,
An act played like that would offer a satisfaction.
Sometimes I am tempted,
To agitate a childish game...
That has been played.
Just to feel and see it done...
To throw it back in someone's face.
And everyday I witness,
Immature adults with childish minds.
Complaining to others about who they don't like.
With a waste of time whining,
Hoping to 'hook up' with a like mind.
Everyday I seem to witness,
More children who should be adults.
More who have not discovered responsibility.
Or an accountability that brings to them concrete results.
And everyday I witness,
Immature adults with childish minds.
Complaining to others about who they don't like.
With a waste of time whining,
Hoping to 'hook up' with a like mind.
And as I pass such activities,
I feel blessed to have aged gracefully.
Although I grit my teeth...
Wanting to find a reason and purpose,
To respond to an ignorance...
I do my best,
Not to acknowledge...
With a reaction given that would please.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...
Farther.
For the gritting of my teeth,
And the keeping of my peace!

Glad This Is Not My Issue
I have never been accused,
Of being patriotic.
Devoted or loyal.
Nor sacrificial to others' needs.
Whether known or not...
These activities,
Do not from other lips speak.
It has never been discussed,
How I would rush to the aid of others.
And entertain them with foolishness,
Just to see a smile come across their lips.
Although I've been called stupid on many occasions.
It has never been expressed,
My desire to do my very best.
Or to implement with discipline,
The tackling done of obstacles that come to test.
Yet...
It has been said,
I think I'm better than the rest.
Trying to impress.
I have heard comments stated in my face,
To berate what is I've attempted to do.
To then have it said...
I do what I do to seek attention.
As if there is something I need to prove.
'Can we all say, Lun-a-tic? '
And the more I value the quietness of my peace,
In a privacy I seek to protect...
I hear it said that I am lonely, eccentric and seeking friends.
And a public attention is what I address.
As I age,
I thank God my time has been spent...
In the validation of those things important.
And the sharing of events with those loved who are close.
If I had not...
I would not know whose life it is to live!
Or which of those with mental illnesses needing focus the most!
I am glad this is not my issue.
And I've got them too.
But not on these levels.
