A Devalued Piece of Paper

There are those who view talents and gifts,
Others may be blessed with...
As a means for them to seek attachment,
To a dollar sign.

If falling leaves were declared to have monetary value,
There would be people killing themselves to rake them...
From wherever they fell in people's yards.
Or be seen chasing them as they blew in the wind.

A mindset attached to money like that,
Is as happy as a lobster caught and thrown in boiling water.
What they have or have not represents their self worth.
And it is sad for anyone to feel that enslaved,
By a devalued piece of paper.
Never to enable one to afford a peace of mind.

Paper Lies

(music: marillion lyrics: steve hogarth & john helmer)
When you look into the mirror
Do you see a face you hardly recognise
If you look into the sun too long
Do the things you see begin to burn your eyes
Paper lies
Just to express what hes thinking
Must a man take all the mail will bring?
Are we living only for today
Its a sign of the times ... we believe anything ... and nothing
Paper lies
When you kill the truth
You can make a killing
You might just make losing look like winning
You came to tell the people whats goin on
But nobody knows whose side youre on
Seems like youre sailin pretty close to the wind again
Paper lies
You have already won a prize!
I know something that you dont know
Something that you ought to know
Its burning a hole in my pocket book
Listen ... do you want to know a secret?
We can print our own money here
If you let us do a piece on you
We can take you to pieces
When you look into the money do you see a face you hardly recognise?
When you get behind the news of the world do the things you find begin to bend your mind?
Paper lies
Why dont ya let us take a piece outta you?

For The Love Of Money

Money money money, money
Some people really need it (oh, well)
Some people got to have it (in vain)
Listen here yall, do things, do things, do bad things with it
So you will do things, do things, do good things with it
Talk about cash money, no help at all
For the love of money
People will steal from their mother
For the love of money
People will rob their own brother
For the love of money
People cant even walk the street
Because they never know who in the world they gotta beat
For that lean, mean, mean green
For the love of money
People will lie, lord, they will cheat
For the love of money
People dont care who they hurt or beat
For the love of money
A woman will sell her precious body
For a small piece of paper it carries a lot of weight
Call it lean, mean, mean green
Almighty dollar
I know money is the root of all evil
Do funny things to some people
Give me a nickel, brother can you spare a dime
Money can drive some people out of their minds
Got to have it, I really need it
How many things have I heard you say
Some people really need it
How many things have I heard you say
Got to have it, I really need it
How many things have I heard you say
Lay down, lay down, a woman will lay down
For the love of money
All for the love of money
Dont let, dont let, dont let money rule you
For the love of money
Money can change people sometimes
Dont let, dont let, dont let money fool you
Money can fool people sometimes

Piece By Piece

Sitting on a corner street
Children playing at my feet
See the smiles on ice cream faces
Feel myself begin to sink
As the wind blows though my skin
Leaves me open to temptation
Cause nothing ever lasts forever
Were like flowers in this vase together
You and me its pulling me down
Tearing me down piece by piece
And you cant see that its like a disease
Killing me now its so hard to breathe
Sucking back a cigarret
Thinking about new regrets
Trying to be someone youd like to be
Passing faces on the road
Where the hell can we still go
Leaves us open to temptation
Cause nothing ever lasts forever
Were like flowers in this vase together
You and me its pulling me down
Tearing me down piece by piece
And you cant see that its like a disease
Killing me now its so hard to breathe
Its so hard to breathe
But its worth fighting for, its still worth fighting for
Its worth fighting for
Cause nothing ever lasts forever
Were like flowers in this vase together, you....
You and me its pulling me down
Tearing me down piece by piece
And you cant see that its like a disease
Its killing me now its so hard to breathe
You and me its pulling me down
Tearing me down piece by piece
And you cant see that its like a disease
Its killing me now its so hard to breathe

Talents Die Easily In Africa!

Oh talents, oh talents!
Talents do die easily in Africa;
But, talents are special gifts which,
Money cannot buy.
It is a special gift,
It is in you,
You don't even need a Higher Degree for them;
Talents are everywhere on this earth.

The talents of Africa do die very often,
Who is even ready to listen to them?
The true talents of the Africans go to the drain.
Like a rain on a train,
Like an early wake up call without a view;
Life is really so strange over here in Africa.

I have a dream!
But, who will listen?
My brain is with various talents but,
Who will help me with my dreams?
Talents, talents, talents! !
Africa turns to regress in this field while,
Others do progress!

Our talents can be useful,
It's time we give a helping hand;
Oh talents, oh talents!
It's time we listen to those who have them;
Cos', we are the world.

Wassup?

'Wassup? '

They brag about their college degrees,
And what they've got!

'Hmmm, okay.'

Where they travel, who their friends are,
And some entertain in fancy suits...
With cravats.

'Continue...
I'm in the passenger seat.'

And how better off they are...
Than those who have not!

'You see...
Right there?
That's a no no! '

But,
Why are their beliefs,
Crumbling like dried leaves.
And 'if' they are so smart...
Why are their lives falling apart?

'Man...
Enjoy them fools like I do!
Their whole lives are based on plastic.
They can't see their fake forests,
For the melting of false trees!
Some of them have already predicted...
Their sick point of views are coming to an end!
And their 'god' is going to burn this stuff up.
In a ball of fire with all of them.

Check this out...
The economy is nine trillion, not million
But trillions of dollars in debt!
Over a war for oil.
They all now regret!
The dollar bill ain't worth a damn.
And all I wanted was a taste of it...
When I got back from Viet Nam!
But I was ignored,
Like a sugarless yam!

Those holding their noses up in the air,
Can bearly afford toilet paper.
But still they flaunt about in public...
With pretenses and 'airs' with flair!

You 'caint' walk down a street in suburbia,
Or any community ever heard of...
Without seeing foreclosure signs like welcome mats!
And when I use to drive through one of them...
I'd be stopped for just being black!
That's a fact!
And ain't too much changed today from that!

And those folks who talked about,
Other people being 'stupid'...
Because of skin color,
And the way they looked?
Can now be officially declared...
The most 'stupidest' people on the planet.
And most of them are professional crooks!

'Here..
Take a right on Disclosure Avenue! '

Hell...
I'd scream 'FIRE' too!
If all that was happenin' to me!
And I don't need a degree...
To observe that in front to 'see'.
The arrogance and hypocrisy!

You can dropp me off right over there!
I ain't trying to upset my peace of mind...
While you trying to fit into this atmosphere!
And remember this...
You are the one that declared me crazy,
Years ago!
And here you are...
'Still' on your way there!
Don't let me hold you up!
I see you like to travel the scenic route!
You can either take a U-Turn...
Or a left on Release Me Street! '

In The Shape Of A Dollar Sign

One driven by passion,
For what it is they do...
Is much different than someone,
Driven by a dollar bill...
And 'that' attachment.

Never have I witnessed,
Anyone driven by passion...
Being late!
Or heard excusing everything they do.

One driven and motivated by money,
Can not get excuses...
Fast enough out of their mouths.
And the pupils in their eyes are not round...
As is the custom.
They appear more in the shape of a dollar sign.

And 'that' is the difference,
Associated with someone who has passion...
Compared to another,
Who has visions of money in their mind.

'Oh...
You refer to the contractile aperture,
In the iris of the eye? '

Did you get my point?

'Yes.'

Then there is no need to intellectualize,
The basicness of it!

'I just wanted to be sure,
We both were in the same boat! '

Guess which one,
Is 'thisclose' from being thrown overboard?

That's right.
Lips sealed tight!
And keep rowing.

You don't have to keep throwing it in my face,
That you are highly educated.
There is no need for you,
To take that 'trip' with me!
We are 'not' on that kind of a journey.

One summer when the wind was strong

This is the place, now we are here again

I remember that summer when the wind was strong
And everything around us was dry,

The acacia trees towered and showered us with
Round leaves falling and falling and falling

Some birds were there and they flew away
Some cars were there and they speeded away

It was getting dark and it was a dry summer
We stayed there for a while when the leaves fell

Then we went under the trees not seeking shelter
But to catch those leaves falling and falling and falling

We are trying to feel again what falling was
We are here on this summer, we see the leaves

Falling and falling again to the dry wind,
We try to recall about us, but there is simply

Nothing about us anymore, but just the same
The leaves fall and fall and fall, we see them reenacting

There is that meaning; there it is in the falling
But we have outgrown it, we look for more, we hope

We can find some more, something beyond us.

Without A Few Good Laughs A Day

Success is only really what does matter if you go by with what most people do say
But life it would surely be very boring without a few good laughs a day
If you cannot laugh you're in trouble some even find it hard to smile
There are people with heaps of money who feel living life scarce worth-while
One has to feel sympathy for them their gift of life they don't enjoy
When they buy presents for their young child they buy the most expensive toy
Yet their money cannot make them happy they live their lives burdened by care
It Doesn't mean you will be happy when you become a millionaire
The praises of the rich and famous so many feel happy to sing
But if money could make people happy then money would buy everything
Unhappiness some people are born with and 'tis something money cannot cure
But I'd rather be wealthy and unhappy than being poor and miserable though the choice is a poor one for sure
If money could solve all of our problems then our biggest problem would be small
But money cannot buy you happiness and that's the greatest gift of all.

A Different Law

For the wealthy and poor there's a different law
Though on that your own conclusion you can draw
You may think my comments are not very fair
But this is my view and my view I will air
Save for some cases of proven murder money does never fail
And money is known to keep people from jail
Many poor people are in jail for a minor offence
They can't afford a lawyer for to fight their defence
'Tis powerful paper money for to give it fair due
And that money does speak every language does seem only true
The wealthy and poor the law treats differently
Though with what I say here many would disagree
The reason you don't find many millionaires in a jail
Is that the influence of money seldom does seem to fail.

My Creator Is My Manager

I admit...
There are gifts and talents,
I was born with.
I never had desires to 'be'.
I just 'was'.
And took what I had for granted.
At one time I really did this.

I've been asked where I've studied.
And who has mentored me.
My response has always been The Creator.
To which then I get looks of disbelief.

And as I age and 'try' to mellow,
Others suggest I could be rich...
If I did 'this' and 'that' with my talents and gifts.
But things and bling and money it seems...
Has never attracted my consciousness.

If this happens to come to me as my Creator's wish,
Then by all means...
Those things will come to pay me a visit.
But thankful I am and tremendously blessed.
My Creator is my manager.
And I know what for me is best.

Perhaps my Creator,
Believes what I've been given is priceless.
And I have been nourishing myself,
With the feeding on delusions.
Whatever my Creator proposes,
Is the path I follow not to oppose.

For Those Who Are Gifted

These gifts to me have not been given,
To let sit and observe their rust.
But to constantly polish and share their lustre.
And I perceive this mission as a must.

For those who are gifted,
With talents they let drift away.
Seem too quick to earn a dollar from them...
Only to quit to say,
The worth of their gifts...
Did not return to them any profit!

These gifts to me have not been given,
To let sit and observe their rust.
But to constantly polish and share their lustre.
And I perceive this mission as a must.

One blessed by God...
Should first serve His purpose.
With a gratefulness to prove,
A decision God has made...
Was done to shine forth a light!
To move where He chooses,
Whether day or night.

Not to smother in unthankfulness.
To offer God one's attititude.
Why do people do this?
Take for granted what God does...
Then choose to dismiss it?
To satify egos others should solicit.
To flaunt and cherish,
As if one merits the attention.
To take and celebrate...
Without a word of God to mention!

Sometimes Questioned When Revealed

I've seen birds with wings,
Use them.
I've known people with talents,
And God given gifts...
Use them for a purpose.
And intent.

I've heard those with wisdom,
Share insights.
I've seen a commercial jet,
Take off...
Weighted with passengers,
And luggage...
Soar from a standstill,
To rise in the skies in flight.

But I've seen many people,
From behind as they walked.
And I wondered to myself...
If only they could see,
From my point of view and eye sight...
Those wide shadows cast,
On the sidewalks...
In broad daylight!

I've seen birds with wings,
Use them.
I've known people with talents,
And God given gifts...
Use them as well.

However...
To spread around,
Pound for pound...
What some people carry,
That has yet in their minds...
Been introduced to marry common sense,
Is as mysterious as those acts of genius...
Taken for granted,
That are around us...
AND,
With a significance that influences.
But still,
They are sometimes questioned when revealed!

Bring On The Lucie

-"alright, boys, this is it, over the hill!"
We don't care what flag you're waving,
We don't even want to know your name.
We don't care where you're from or where you're going,
All we know it that you came.
Your making all our decisions,
We have just one request of you,
That while you're thinking things over,
Here's something you just better do.
Free the people now, (do it, do it, do it, do it)
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now.
(do it, do it, do it, do it)
Free the people now, (do it, do it, do it, do it)
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now.
Well, we were caught with our hands in the air,
Don't despair, paranoia's ev'rywhere.
We can shake it with love when we're scared,
So let's shout it aloud like a prayer.
Free the people now, (do it, do it, do it, do it)
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now.
(do it, do it, do it, do it)
Free the people now, (do it, do it, do it, do it)
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now.
We understand your paranoia,
But we don't wanna play your game.
You think you're cool and know what you're doing,
666 is your name.
So while you jerking off each other,
You better bear this in mind;
Your time is up, you better know it,
But maybe you don't read the signs.
Free the people now, (do it, do it, do it, do it)
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it (do it) now.
(do it, do it, do it, do it)
Free the people now, (do it, do it, do it, do it)
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now.
Well, you were caught with your hands in the kill,
And you still gotta swallow your pill,
As you slip and you slide down the hill
On the blood of the people you killed.
Stop the killing!
(free the people now) (do it, do it)
Do! (do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now)
(do it, do it, do it)
Stop the killing!
(free the people now) (do it, do it, do it, do it)

Killing Andy Warhol

Did you ever see the sun rise up
Above this blackened hole
Did you ever feel that what you wants
Not under your control
Ever think that how you feel
Is not quite what you are
Some of us are satellites
Some are superstars
Theyre killing andy warhol
Hes a saint and hes a thief
Well all die a million times
Thats what I believe
Killing andy warhol
Killing andy warhol
They say the rain in europe
Cools you down and helps you think
Water, water everywhere
Nothing you can drink
Kissing andy warhol
His skin feels like a shark
White hair sits so beautiful
Eyelids are so dark
And Im trying to get ahead
Like any boy or girl
Thered be no dictators anywhere
If I could rule the world
Killing andy warhol
Killing andy warhol
Thats impossible - he got all that money
Adorable - having all that money
Feasable - that its all black money
Its so criminal - making all that money
All I want, is what Id want
But I dont want that now
Theyre dressing andy warhol up
If only thay knew how
Jesus on the neon sign
Turns and starts to laugh
And Im thinking about this oxygen
And how Ill make it last
Killing andy warhol
Hes a saint - yeah hes a thief
Motorways are everywhere
With no clean air to breathe
Killing andy warhol
Killing andy warhol
Till the end of time
Till the end of time
Having all that money
Killing andy warhol
Hes got all that money
And its real black money
Making all that money
Killing andy warhol
Killing andy warhol

The Blood

A male of the first year,
Do not eat the meat in the night;
And the blood will be a sign for you.

A very strong west wind blew me into the Red Sea,
And i am now wandering around in the field of love;
For the sun, moon and the eleven stars bowed down before me.

The blood,
And i need an explanation about it from you;
For your words have touched me and have tasted my peace,
And i will return tomorrow looking for you.

Pay money for the food you eat and,
Pay money for the water you drink;
For i am now along the route of the Red sea and,
I will be in your wilderness of love all day long.

Oh gifts of ancient mountains,
Come down to me with your everlasting fruits;
For i have sharpen my flashing sword of love and,
I need some apples to eat tonight.

Saja/ Right On

Saja is an instrumental piece.
The following lyrics are for right on.
Hey baby
Thats all right people
I know thats all right
Oh when we love, oh each other
I know thats all right
Oh feel it, feel it, oh everybody
Feel it
God knows thats all right, yeah
Some of us were born with
Money to spend
Some of us were born with
Races to win, oh yeah
Some of us are aware that its
Good to fuss and care, oh yeah
Some of us feel the icy wind of
Poverty blowing in the air
But those of us who simply
Like to socialize
For those of us who tend the
Sick and heed the peoples cry
Let me say to you: right on
Right on, feel it, yeah
Oh, oh, oh, people and I say right on
Right on honey, right on
For those of us who live yeah,
Well peace is craved
For those of us who live with hatred is enslaved
For those of us who live a life
Surrounded by good fortune and
Wealth, talk about it
For those of us who live a life
(hey, hey, hey) enjoying ourselves
For those of us who got drowned
In the sea of happiness
For the sould who takes pride in his
God and himself and everything else
Thats all it is. we need love
Love, love, sweet love
Wonderful love
Oh, true love, love
Love for your brother and love,
Love for god
Love pure love
Oh, true love can cover hate every time
Give out some love and youll find peace sublime
My darling, one more thing
If you let me, I will take you to live where love is king

Piece of this

Peace and bliss,
Piece of crap

Peace of mind,
Piece of cake,

piece of work
Piece of steak,

Piece of eight
Piece of the action

Piece of the pie
Peace and satisfaction

Piece in the valley

Top Dollar

Well I tried to find something
Something to hold on to
I thought it was you cause Im sick and tired
Of trying to make something
Something out of nothing
I guess since you were bluffing
Now I think Im losing my mind
The pain in my heart
Was it worth the price?
The pain in my heart
Was it worth the time I wasted on you?
Youre giving me the top dollar blues
And I gave you it all, all
All that I could give you
Youve taken what Ive given
Ynd thrown it all away
Like its nothing
Never meant nothing
Now Im left with nothing
What an awful price Ive paid
The pain in my heart,
Was it worth the price?
The pain in my heart,
Was it worth the time I wasted on you?
Youre giving me the top dollar blues.
Ive bet all my money and thats how it goes
You ran a good race
But you lost just by a nose
Its true.
Baby, youre giving me the top dollar blues.
The top dollar blues,
I gave you it all, all
All that I could give you
And the top dollar blues
Top dollar blues
