Impromptu, to a Young Lady Singing

Sing, gentle maid -- reform my breast,
And soften all my care;
Thus may I be some moments blest,
And easy in despair.
The pow'r of Orpheus lives in you;
You can the passions of my soul subdue,
And tame the lions and the tigers there.

Conversation With A Genius

Like mountains - on this brow
Laurels of praise.
'I can't sing!'
- 'You will!' - 'Sound

(Put me on a diet
of flour!)
Like milk -
Is gone from my breast.

Empty. Dry.
In full-blown spring?
I feel like a twig.'
- 'That's an old song!

Drop it, don't blabber!'
'From now on I'd better -
Pound gravel!'
- 'All the more reason to sing!'

'Am I a bullfinch,
To sing
Day in and day out?'
- 'Even if you can't,
My bird, sing!

Out of spite!'
'What if I can't
put two lines together?'
-'When could - anyone?!' -

'It's torture!' - 'Bear it!'
'A mown meadow -
My throat!' 'Then wheeze:
That's a sound, too!'

'It's lions' business
Not women's.' - 'Children's:
Though disembowelled -
Orpheus still sang!'

'So, even in the grave?'
- 'Under a headstone, too.'
'I can't sing!'
- 'Sing about that!

Orpheus

(carly simon)
Orpheus, it could have been
You could have held me again
You said your songs had all gone
And that the road back up was too long
But it ws there for us
It was there for us
I loved you all along
Orpheus
The part of me that died
Was ready to be reborn
And you called of the hounds
Of hell with your songs
Orpheus, orpheus
I loved you all along, orpheus
Orpheus, it could have been
You could have held me again
But you couldnt wait
Somewhere along the road
You lost your faith
Out of despair and believing
I was gone
You gave up on my love
You gave up on us
But it was there for us,
It was there for us
I loved you all along

Man is the culprit

Hares and deer produce in multitudes
To withstand onslaught of lions and tigers
Grass and weeds abound much more
To surpass onslaught of hares and deer
Lions and tigers beget not many.
The cycle is in perfect harmony.
Man is adamant to disturb the balance.

But Don't Despair

Despair, if you must –
But how's it going to pull you through?
Despair, when you trust
Naught since then there's naught to do.
Despair, should you thrust
Aside your pride, your self-esteem.
And so despair, if it's dust,
The only substance that you deem.
Despair, when a gust
Of slightly breeze can break your stance.
And do despair, when lust
Is your interpretation of romance.

But don't despair, if you can care
About the plight of any other being.
And you can focus on the help,
Support, and altruistic further actions
For the seeing. Be believing,
As despair will start receding
All around – simply since you found
A way to steer you clear
From this: the very cause of your despair!

So give to others; give them all a helping lift:
Despair, you'll find will disappear –
And that has got to be a well-deserved
And saintly gift!

Dark Forests

Dark forests...Northern...Sourthern Mountains,
Fierce tigers circle around the villages in broad daylight.
...To The red dawn of twilight
The skies shine bright
Protecting what is theirs
In the magic of the night
The tigers roam everywhere taking lives for food.
The Majesty of the tigers power,
The prey dare not make a sound.
The new kin tiger sprout every year
In the valleys low.
Male and female tigers come up and down the mountains in large groups.
There is a village near the tigers’ dens in the valley,
Where tigers often come and eat the villagers’ brown calves.
Rich young men dare not shoot the arrows at the tigers.
The Majesty of the Tiger lives forever
The Majesty of the Tiger
They only pretend to check for the tigers’ tracks in the forests.

Sonnet XLV: Muses, Which Sadly Sit

Muses, which sadly sit about my chair,
Drown'd in the tears extorted by my lines,
With heavy sighs whilst thus I break the air,
Painting my passions in these sad designs,
Since she disdains to bless my happy verse,
The strong-built trophies to her living fame,
Ever henceforth my bosom be your hearse,
Wherein the world shall now entomb her name.
Enclose my music, you poor senseless walls,
Since she is deaf and will not hear my moans,
Soften yourselves with every tear that falls,
Whilst I, like Orpheus, sing to trees and stones,
Which with my plaint seem yet with pity mov'd,
Kinder than she whom I so long have lov'd.

When you will tame me

You want to tame me
This wild beast
In the jungle
Intractable

Do you say
You want to soften me
To harness me
To control me
To make me useful
To cultivate me
As one kind of
A plant or a docile
Kind of an animal?
Domesticated and
Submissive?
Will you make me
Savageless?
Deprived of zest
And spiritless?
Serviceable shall
I be to you,
Harmless and
Rendered useful
For any master?

Tame me,
You cannot
I am born a lion
And I shall never
Be as tame as your
House cat,

I live in the wild
Now and you have
Known me by the
Same name when
We first see each
Other eye to eye

On the roof, I have
Assumed the
Fierceness of the
Mockingbird, and
No one has stopped
Me mimicking all
Of you- shy and coy,
Pusillanimous, gentle,
And so manageable

Insipid and God forbid,
Dullish and insipid

The IX Ode to Horace

HORACE.

While I was pleasing to your arms,
Nor any youth, of happier charms,
Thy snowy bosom blissful prest,
Not Portia's like me was blest.

LYDIA.

While for no other fair you burn'd,
Nor Lydia was for Chloe scorn'd
What maid was then so blest as thine?
Not [xx's] flame could equal mine.

HORACE.

Me Chloe now possesses whole,
Her voice her lyre command my soul;
For whom Ill gladly die, to save
Her dearer beauties from the grave.

LYDIA.

My heart young Calats inspires,
Whose bosom glows with mutal fires,
For whom I twice would die with joy,
If death would spare the charming boy.

HORACE.

Yet what if love, whole bards we broke,
Again should tame us to the yoke;
Should I shake off bright Chloe's chain,
And take my Lydia home again?--

LYDIA.

Though he exceed in beauty far
The rising lustre of a star;
Though light as cork thy fancy strays,
Thy passions wild as angry seas,
When vex'd with storms; yet gladly I
With thee would live, with thee would die.

Tissue Tigers (The Arguers)

I shout this,
You shout that,
The clouds are coming over looking awful black.
Its all hot air.
You say go,
I say stay,
Clear blue sky goes sheffield grey.
Its all hot air.
Ive grown immune to your claws,
Pussycat, I know...
All your threats are tissue tigers,
Crawling across the table to me.
All your threats are tissue tigers,
Ripping em up is easy for me now.
I shout this,
You shout that,
An eye for heart and a tit for a tat.
You easy tear.
Think your stripes,
Are yellow and black,
I can only see the yellow one down your back,
You easy tear.
Ive grown immune to your claws,
Pussycat, I know...
All your threats are tissue tigers,
Crawling across the table to me.
All your threats are tissue tigers,
Ripping em up is easy for me now.
We argue all life long,
Youd swear that black was wrong,
Throw tantrums like queen kong,
Ive trapped you in my song.
All your threats are tissue tigers,
Crawling across the table to me.
All your threats are tissue tigers,
Ripping em up is easy for me now.

Blue Orpheus

If you want to cry
You can always find something to cry about
Its so easy to be wise
Over someone elses tears
But you have a gift
That the rest of us just cant live without
And its something in your voice
When you tell us how you feel
cause weve all loved something and lost it
And its burning my heart
I cant open my mouth and just let it out
But when I hear my blue orpheus sing
I know that life is a wonderful thing
Somewhere theres love and perpetual spring
I know life is a wonderful thing
Seems so long ago
The sound of your joy filled the atmosphere
We can make it on our own
But the road is so rocky and steep
And when you feel lost
No one tells you what you need to hear
And the only dream you have
Is the one thats in your sleep
cause we soon forget what were here for
I need someone to say hes got dreams of his own
Ill know Im not alone
I want to hear my blue orpheus sing
Ill know that life is a wonderful thing
Somewhere theres love and perpetual spring
Ill know life is a wonderful thing
Sing
You will one day be together again
Though you can not see her
Sing
She is somewhere in the world

Don't Let This Moment End

Come with me my love, let's run away,
Give me your hand to hold and have trust in me,
I'm gonna take you to a place of dreams,
Where our love is safe and lives in harmony.

I would tame the time and make it stop,
I would treasure each moment with you deep in my heart,
A moment with you is so priceless, unique,
I won't lose those precious moments to keep.

We'll spend together our moments of love,
Adventuring in a world we never knew before,
Wild nights are coming to set us free,
I'll see in your eyes your passion burning for me.

My passions are kept in my heart, waiting for you to explore,
In lust, love and romance, but only you can set them free,
Be with me and share the night, my heart is calling out your passion,
I want to hold your love forever, don't let this moment end.

Julia to Ovid

Written at Twelve Years of Age, in imitation of Ovid's Epistles.

Are love and pow'r incapable to meet?
And must they all be wretched who are great?
Enslav'd by titles, and by forms confin'd,
For wretched victims to the state design'd.
What rural maid, that my sad fortune knows,
Would quit her cottage to embrace my woes?
Would be this cursed sacrifice to pow'r,
This wretched daughter of Rome's emperour?
When sick with sighs to absent Ovid given,
I tire with vows the unrelenting Heaven,
Drown'd in my tears, and with my sorrows pale,
What then do all my kindred gods avail?
Let proud Augustus the whole world subdue,
be mine to place all happiness in you;
With nobler pride I can on throes look down,
Can court your love and can despise a crown, --
O Love! thou pleasure never dearly bought!
Whose joys exceed the very lover's thought;
Of that soft passion, when you teach the art,
In gentle sounds it steals into the heart;
With such sweet magic does the soul surprise,
'Tis only taught us better by your eyes.
O Ovid! first of the inspired train,
To Heaven I speak in that enchanting strain,
So sweet a voice can never plead in vain.

Apollo will protect his favourite son,
And all the little Loves unto thy succour run.
The Loves and Muses in thy prayer shall join,
And all their wishes and their vows be thine;
Some god will soften my hard Father's breast,
And work a miracle to make thee blest.

* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *

Hard as this is, I even could this bear,
But greater ills than what I feel, I fear.
My fame -- my Ovid -- both for ever fled,
what greater evil is there left to dread!
Yes, there is one . . . . . . . . . . .
Avert it, Gods, who do my sorrows see!
Avert it, thou, who art a god to me!
When back to Rome your wishing eyes are cast,
And on the lessening towers you gaze your last --
When fancy shall recal unto your view
The pleasures now for ever lost to you,
The shining court, and all the thousand ways
To melt the nights and pass the happy days --
Will you not sigh, and hate the wretched maid,
Whose fatal love your safety has betray'd?
Say that from me your banishment does come,
And curse the eyes that have expell'd you Rome?
Those eyes, which now are weeping for your woes,
The sleep of death shall then for ever close.

Forest Glade

White tigers like to rest and so
They find a gentle spot
And there, they stay, just laying low,
As they like that a lot.
As if their strength of great renown
Had disappeared from view,
They stretch their paws, their frowns droop down
And muscles relax, too.

White tigers get their lazy moods,
The wise do not disturb.
You can't tempt them with juicy foods,
For appetites they curb.
They know it's time they should be still,
So why do other things?
There's nothing like the silent thrill
That warm contentment brings

White tigers, please leave them alone,
Don't try to chase them off.
Especially not the ones full grown
That feel they've had enough.
Just live and let live, give them space.
Don't say you're unafraid!
Let them enjoy their gentle pace
Within the forest glade.

It Is Nice And Easy

It is nice and easy does it
When you have a moly maid at home
You come from school
And everything is done for you
Mothers do the cooking, do the washing, do the cleaning, do the shopping, Do the ironing
Mother's were born to be moly maids for the rest of their lives
Nice and easy does it

My Memory's Care

Sing not to me a song of beauty bright,
Nor festive scenes of dazzling light;
Nor of gorgeous pageant in palace hall
Begemmed with many a coronal;
But sing to me my memory's care -
The misspent hours fled where - oh where?

Sing not to me of the battlefield,
Nor splintered lance nor of broken shield,
Not of gory plumes once freshly fair,
Not of banners rent nor pennon bare;
But sing to me my memory's care -
The misspent hours fled where - oh where?

Sing not to me of the sea-fight won,
By daring hearts and by flashing gun,
Not how o'er the deep in exultant glee
The victor's ship speeds galliantly;
But sing to me my memory's care -
The misspent hours fled where - oh where?

Sing not of summer, sing not of spring,
For these no joy to my heart can bring;
Sing not of autumn yellow and sere
Sing not of pallid winter frosty and drear;
But sing to me my memory's care -
The misspent hours fled where - oh where?

Sing not of Love's deep tenderness
Nor its whispered words, share its sweet caress;
Sing not to me of Beauty's power,
Nor the bridal morn - Love's dearest hour!
But sing to me my memory's care
The misspent hours fled where - oh where?

Sing - sing to me with a mocking song,
Of the guilty past and its deeds of wrong;
Sing - till around me the phantoms come,
Or the broken hearts in a distant home;
These, these are my memory's care,
And shriek them forth to my soul's despair!

Cupid's Promise - Paraphrased

Soft Cupid, wanton, amorous boy,
The other day, moved with my lyre,
In flattering accents spoke his joy,
And uttered thus his fond desire.

Oh! raise thy voice, one song I ask,
Touch then th' harmonious string;
To Thyrsis easy is the task,
Who can so sweetly play and sing.

Two kisses from my mother dear,
Thyrsis, thy due reward shall be;
None, none like Beauty's queen is fair;
Paris has vouch'd this truth for me.

I straight reply'd, thou know'st alone,
That brightest Cloe rules my breast,
I'll sing thee two instead of one
If thou'lt be kind and make me blest.

One kiss from Cloe's lips, no more
I crave. He promised me success;
I play'd with all my skill and power,
My glowing passion to express.

But, oh! my Cloe, beauteous maid,
Wilt thou the wish'd reward bestow?
Wilt thou make good what Love has said,
And by thy grant his power show?

Despair Is Darkness

DESPAIR IS DARKNESS

Despair is darkness-
Despair is death inside and death in the world and death in one’s own sad soul-
Despair is no way out -
Despair is the place where one is forever stuck -
Despair is the realization that one has done what one could – and one is not going anywhere else-
Despair is the admission of failure-
Despair is no sign of help anywhere around-
Despair is so much lost-
Despair is one‘s life is over-
Despair is regret-
Despair is the sense that one will never have the time to have another chance -
Despair is ‘it’s finished’-
Despair is no way out-
Despair is going down and more down and more dark and more afraid all the time -
Despair is the scream which hurts and does not stop the hurting -
Despair is the understanding that even Death will not save one -
Despair is that the pain will never end-not even with death.
Despair is no way out again and again and again- without end.

Sing My Heart

Go on and sing my heart
You know its spring my heart
So why not show it?
Pretend youre glad my heart
Although youre sad my heart
He mustnt know it
Remember, love is not an easy game
No two hearts ever beat quite the same
Go on and dance my heart
Our only chance my heart
Is to forget it
Should you despair my heart
Hell know we care my heart
And well regret it
If its to be, we soon shall see
And if its not to be,
No power on earth can make it so
Pretend its spring my heart
Go on and sing my heart
For if you sing, hell never know
(bridge)
Go on and dance my heart
Our only chance my heart
Is to forget it
Should you despair my heart
Hell know we care my heart
And well regret it
If its to be, we soon shall see
