The Solitude of Shade

Where the light is soft, I live in shade
in the corners of my mind where thought is made.
Where the temperature is cool, and my soul repose
my peace in the world one may suppose.
Under the shade my defects hide
and my imagination is my friend at my side.
Where love is truth
and intuition the sooth
of all that's to come
of all to be done.
The shade is my ambiance which determines my mood
where pensive thoughts lay and my loves gravely brood.
Lost in a world where people are gray
I hide from the world and it's shiny bright day.
In the shade is the place to be
where one can hide and freely see
the world around
where false is found
and the poor fool
is always crowned.
But to retire from the shade
and back into the light.
My thoughts whiter and fade
as I am back in sight…
The solitude of shade

Silhouette (live)

Silhouettes, silhouettes, silhouettes,
Silhouettes, silhouettes, silhouettes.
Took a walk and passed your house late last night,
All the shades were pulled and drawn way down tight.
From within the dim light cast two silhouettes on the shade.
Oh what a lovely couple they made.
Put his arms around your waist, held you tight.
Kisses i could almost taste, in the night.
Wondered why i'm not the guy whose silhouettes on the shade.
I couldn't hide the tears in my eyes.
Silhouettes, silhouettes, silhouettes,
Silhouettes, silhouettes, silhouettes.
Lost control and rang your bell, i was sore,
"let me in or else i'll beat down your door".
Saw two strangers who had been two silhouettes on the shade,
My heart skipped a beat i was on the wrong street.
Rushed down to your house with wings on my feet,
Loved you like i've never loved you my sweet.
Vowed that you and i would be, two silhouettes on the shade.
All of our days two silhouettes on the shade.
Silhouettes, silhouettes, silhouettes,
Silhouettes, silhouettes, silhouettes.
Two silhouettes on the shade.

Deep Water

I'll kiss that away
Both of them swam from a northern blue sky
Smile on their faces they entered their doom like they knew
If their world should end they won't care about that anyway
I jade the water and I burn the fire
Nuclear chemicals making their doom like you knew
If the world should end you won't care about that anyway
Maybe thats the way you live your life but I know
Life it don't always live that way
Jade
A shade of pain and then we die
Jade
A shade of pain and then we die
Jade
A shade of pain and then we die
But it's just the way
Maybe that's the way you live your life but I know
you live your life
Life you see it don't always live that way
Jade
A shade of pain and then we die
Jade
A shade of pain and then we die Oh why
Jade
A shade of pain and then we die
Maybe that's the way
Maybe that's the way but it don't always live that way
Now that I understand the beauty of what they've left to hand me down
When you need a place to live and no one understands you
And all you want to do
Is to cry out loud
But you don't know how
No way no one
No one understands
The hand that strikes
When just a touch of love is all the problem needed
And when you hurt someone so much that still they die loving you
And all you want to do
Is to cry out loud
But you don't know how
Jade
Jade
A shade of pain and then we die
Jade
A shade of pain and then we die
Jade
But you don't know how
'Til you try somehow
Jade
Like you don't know how
Jade
But you try somehow
Jade and then we die
We will find a way
Letting the sun go down
Maybe we'll find a way
Holding the sun
We will find a way
Letting our life go by
I tell you we'll find a way
Holding the sun

Light The Shade

When you're feeling lonely
And you heart is hungry
I'll light the shade
When the moon escapes you
And the sun denies you
I'll light the shade
When the question's pending
You feel it all descending
I'll light the shade
Out answer searching
When it's all confusing
I'll light the shade
Out answer searching
When it's all confusing
I'll light the shade
When the moon escapes you
And the sun denies you
I'll light the shade

Riddle

Where far in forest I am laid,
In a place ringed around by stones,
Look for no melancholy shade,
And have no thoughts of buried bones;
For I am bodiless and bright,
And fill this glade with sudden glow;
The leaves are washed in under-light;
Shade lies upon the boughs like snow.

Shade

In the woods…
The shade
comes to listen

In the shade…
Veined leaves
and silver firs glisten

In the veins…
There courses
voices of the trees

In the trees…
The shade listens
then grieves

The shade comes…
The shade listens…
Then leaves…

Actually It's Darkness

You thought the fire could protect you from it
But why have you been so, why have you been ill informed?
I felt that fire could protect me from everything
Youre just too gullible
Actually its darkness, I dont know what Im scared of
Its darkness, I must be scared of something
You must be scared of something, quite quite special
You shed a shade of shyness
You shed a shade of shyness
You shed a shade of shyness
Why cant you be more cynical?
I knew the winter could protect me from it
One box if film wont make it all go cold
I thought that winter could hide me from everything
Im just too gullible, for words
Actually its darkness, I dont know what Im scared of
Its darkness, I must be scared of something
You must be scared of something, quite quite special
You shed a shade of shyness
You shed a shade of shyness
You shed a shade of shyness
Why cant you be more cynical?
I dont look the same in the photograph
I need to look the way I did in the photograph
By mentioning places it will all become clear
If we speak the same language, youre a deeper darker reason...
You shed a shade of shyness
You shed a shade of shyness
You shed a shade of shyness
Why cant you be more cynical

Shade

by the shadow
of the mountain
i am taking
a shade

on the shade
of a tree
i take my
shade

on the shade
of my body
i am taking
my shade

on the shade
of my soul
the mountain
the tree and
my body
also take
their shade

Shade and Shadow Dark and Night

Shade and Shadow
Dark and Night
Demons move
Beyond your sight
Moving slow
Cross the ground
Never do they make a sound
Shade and Shadow
Dark and Night
A murder has
Taken to flight
Stirring up the
Cold dead air
Does it matter?
Do you care?
Shade and Shadow
Dark and Night
Thoughts fill your mind
You think you might
These toughts they
Circle in your head
More and more you
Wish your dead
Shade and Shadow
Dark and Night
Capitulate
Give up the fight
It's too much effort
To go on
You're going
Going going gone

O Camp Of Flowers

O camp of flowers, with poplars girdled round,
Gray guardians of life's soft and purple bud!
O silver spring, beside whose brimming flood
My pensive childhood its Elysium found!
O happy hours by love and fancy crowned,
Whose horn of plenty flatteringly subdued
My heart into a trance, whence, with a rude
And horrid blast, fate came my soul to hound!
Who was the goddess that empowered you all
Thus to bewitch me? Out of wasting snow
And lily-leaves her head-dress should be made!
Weep, my poor lute! nor on Astraea call,
She will not smile, nor I, who mourn below,
Till I, a shade in heaven, clasp her, a shade.

Lighter Shade Of Blue

(troy seals, max d. barnes, skip ewing)
I guess it finally dawned on me youre gone
Well maybe I can make it on my own
I dont stay up wonderin if youll call
And some nights I dont dream of you at all
Your memorys still hurtin deep inside
Thats something Im still learnin how to hide
Though this heart of mine has lost an ache or two
Ive only turned a lighter shade of blue
Chorus:
Lookin/ down the line sometimes
I think I see a change
But then I think again and think of you
Here and there Ive turned a stone
But the mountain hasnt moved
Ive only turned a lighter shade of blue
Im still afraid of turning out the light
And it takes all my strength to face the night
Cause thats the time I face the bitter truth
Ive only turned a lighter shade of blue
Repeat chorus:

Can't Do It Today

Trying to keep a candle burnin in a hurricane
That's what it's like when you love me, and you leave me this way
Like a dove cryin out when he's lost the will to fly, yeah
Shackled down to the earth by your long chained lies, well
I'll forgive you tomorrow if the sun doesn't shine
Let you back into my life when the oceans are dry
Take you back when every shade of the rainbow turns gray
But I just can't do it today
I can't do it today
Well, I can see you dancin in that stranger's arms
My world hasn't stopped turnin, but it's fallin apart
Every breath that I take's a little closer to sane, yeah
They say that time is a healer, but it's still a long, long ways away
yeah
I'll forgive you tomorrow if the sun doesn't shine
Let you back into my life when the oceans are dry
Take you back when every shade of the rainbow turns gray
But I just can't do it today
I can't do it today
Don't wanna do it today
There's a part of me that wishes I could just forget
But I haven't found the mercy yet
No mercy yet
I'll forgive you tomorrow if the sun doesn't shine
Let you back into my life when the oceans are dry
Take you back when every shade of the rainbow turns gray
But I just can't do it today
I just can't do it today
I just can't do it today
I just can't do it today
Wanna do it today
Can't do it today
Not gonna do it today

I Want To Be Your Cloud

For once I'm not thinking of myself
Ulterior motives disappear and fade, fade
Colors return from the shade, shade
Helen among the thorns I put my pride on the shelf and I
See you at the bottom of the sea, blind with light in your eyes
Ill-guided by the angler in disguise and
All I want is to hold you up to the naked sunset sky. That's you.

The Candles Are Brought In

Don’t you have the strange vision sometimes
(When a dark penetrates in a house)
Of another existence for us,
Where we live in the other life’s phases?

There, a shade’s softly pressed to a shade,
And such wonderful minute there hovers,
Where as if, through the beams by eyes sent,
We unite our bodies and souls.

We afraid that a word or a move
Would get off this magnificent instant,
As if one puts his ear above
And recalls us to listen at distance.

But as soon as a candle is kindled,
Second world would this minute retire…
And from eyes through the light’s rays inclined,
Shades would run into pale-blue of fire.

The Duality Of Darkness And Light

If I search and seek inside my mind
The deeper I look the more I find
Exists a spiritual duality of darkness and light
My soul mirrors the world, the day and the night
In the darkness I seek the light to guide
From the sunlight I seek a shadow to hide
The dark is my shield, the light is my blade
They guide and protect me, the light and the shade
They are the sides of coin, opposed yet part of the same
They the sides of a blade, one cold one aflame
This is the spiritual duality of darkness and light
The immortal struggle of the day and the night
Two sides of one coin, two sides of one blade
The darkness and light, tools used yet obeyed
The shade of the daylight, the light in the night
Our immortal mortality, our hope yet our plight
The darkness a shield, the light a bright sword
To refuse their protection we cannot afford
Their immortal struggle, mirrored in our souls
They both play their parts, they both have their roles
A spiritual duality the darkness and light
A reflection of reality the day and the night

A lighter shade of pale

She don’t like sunshine
burning on her skin
and wear sunglasses
to hide from the glare,
as if she’s lost in
her own world.

She don’t like red wine
and likes something sweeter
sparkling like champagne
to glide down her lips
and her teeth glitter white
when she smiles.

I met her on a Sunday
and before Friday
I was lost in love with her
and caught a glimpse of her heart
reflecting her soul
in golden eyes sparkling
in a face
a lighter shade of pale.

She loves looking at her garden
where purple blue morning glories
creep towering into the sky
and watch birds fly
from branch to branch
in the big pepper tree.

Like a child finding a rare coin
and clutching it in wonder
to his breast
I was blessed
but suddenly it’s gone,
I have lost her
and do not know how
to find her again
while life rages on
and her face is
fainting away like a dream
in a lighter shade of pale.

Dreamworld

Every place I look my world is caving in and
Everything I touch falls to pieces-
I had never felt at home within the old brick house I grew up in and
Though only in my dreams I saw a tornado touch down and
Destroy this house and my family inside-
Clouds come and go and obliterate the sunlight and
Even though the sky is a stunningly picturesque shade of metallic blue-
Every place I look and everything I see-
I see no further than my mind's eye-
Inside of my mind tornadoes are touching down destroying
The essence of this world, clouds obstructing my line of vision and
The sun? Either hidden behind thunderclouds leaving me
Inside complete darkness of oblivion or so bright that its intense rays are blinding me?
The trees- yes, the trees are strong enough to stand the force of the wind-
Trees are my strength and the wonders of the world
I have always behind, always hidden behind and
In my most vivid fantasies have been my sorcerers and my protectors-
A tree shall never perish or be uprooted if I touch it and
I can be a bird, a squirrel or a monarch butterfly
If not just inside the place of my flight of the imagination -
Tornadoes may touch down, snow may fall and the sun may burn out but
By becoming a resident of the wild as my animal and reptile friends-
I can hide behind, inside of or just upon a limb looking down
At the glory and enchantment of the wilderness where
Nobody is cruel, nobody mocks or misunderstands me and
Then everyplace I look the sun will be shining but I shall
Adore the natural light it gives and stand beneath the shade of the tree
When that light becomes to intense to withstand-
Today the sky is that picturesque shade of metallic blue and
All signs of severe weather have disappeared?
I have resigned from reality and made myself a home in the backwoods
Amongst my plant and animal friends and I see no further than my minds eye
Which has dismissed the cruelness of the human world and
Tonight when the moon is full I shall sing a melodious tune with the nightingales and
Dance in celebration- celebration that I have come to realize that
Nobody has to tolerate being tortured and misunderstood-
Even if it is just resigning to one's land of their delusiveness-
There is always a place to run and a place where a person can make
A home for themselves as nobody deserves to live in pain - you can
Just close your eyes and imagine and your dreams shall carry you away…

Oh! Green, Stay Green!

In the brilliant spectrum of rainbow hues,
Oh, Green! Thou art a ravishing shade.

You glow and fade in distant skies,
You hide beneath the oceans deep,
You make the Earth so cheery to live,
You ward off famine and assure wealth,
You signal movement and ensure health,
You sooth the eyes and cool the hearts.

In the brilliant spectrum of rainbow hues,
Oh, Green! Thou art a ravishing shade.

Green is the garb; God gave the Earth to wear,
Green is the harbinger of blooming spring,
Green – the forests that is home to beasts,
Green – the meadows, where the cattle graze,
Green – the prairies that stretch afar,
Green – the lawns that adorn the homes,
Green – the tuft of grass that grows beneath,
Green – the unripe fruits that hangs from boughs.

In the brilliant spectrum of rainbow hues,
Oh, Green! Thou art a ravishing shade.

But Alas! The Green is fast fading out,
The verdant Earth, turned into an arid stretch,
Life made so horrid for man and beast,
And Nature mourns her doleful plight,
Toil hard to usher the Green again,
Never let the trees fall and rot,
Take from Nature just enough to make you go,
And keep in reserve what is due for the ones to come!

In the brilliant spectrum of rainbow hues,
Oh, Green! Thou art a ravishing shade.

A Secret Shade Of Blue

Pink is just a shade of Blue
with Purple in between
And Yellow is a shade of Pink,
and, the color that is Green,
I think, is a shade of Yellow too-
And Green, so colorful and clean,
is just a secret shade of Blue -
so if you asked me if Pink
was also Green
I'd tell you, Yes, it's True.
