Everyone wants something
Poets bleed for their art
writers need the muse
artists want passion
musicians need the blues.
Lovers want love
loners need to be alone
children like friends
singers need the tone.
Dancers need the rhythm
actors need a stage
drummers crave the beat
workers want a wage.
Everyone wants something
a prisoner longs to be free
I no longer want anything
I'm happy just being me.

The great thing about being the son of Maya Angelou is that I had the good fortune to grow up around some of the greatest black artists, dancers, singers, musicians, and actors of our time.

The unconditional judgment
Writers are a few; their readers are much.
These readers aren’t those writers either.
Actors are a few; their viewers are much.
These viewers aren’t those actors at all.
Singers are a few; their listeners are much.
These listeners aren’t those singers too.
Performers are different from audience.
Poets must be read by other than poets.
Then would prevail a good environment,
Where judgment will be unconditional.

Ego demands more food
Writers, singers, dancers and artists
Lead their lives, employing their skills,
Irrespective of returns they fetch
For their egos are that much hungry.

All kids, when they go to school, are pretty good artists and dancers and singers and poets. All that gets buried, basically through being educated, or brainwashed.

I've always seen it as the role of an artist to drag his inside out, give the audience all you've got. Writers, actors, singers, all good artists do the same. It isn't supposed to be easy.

Heroes and idols
Heroes and idols
~
we should never meet those
we aspire towards
unless we crave disappointment
idols are flawed, heroes too
I’ve seen first hand
my own poor choices
and all their failings
I should take notes in my book
sketch them into corners
to be read, and read again
maybe the best ones are mad
maybe its that off beat soul
that ticks so many boxes
makes us stand up, take notice
the great ones we label
artists, poets, actors, writers
the more messed up they appear
that extra bit special they seem
some burn out, others die young
but they all leave a legacy
one that stands the test of time
one that has us going back for more
leaving them there always
as idols, heroes to aspire towards

Conversation Of Giants
I am smaller than those
You are bigger than me
The world is mine
I am the strongest one in the world
I am your obession
I am blind
Who am I?
Who are you? Poets, writers, dancers, musicians,
Nobody is somebody
I don't believe in equations
Bohemia
Authors and actors and artists and such
Never know nothing, and never know much.
Sculptors and singers and those of their kidney
Tell their affairs from Seattle to Sydney.
Playwrights and poets and such horses' necks
Start off from anywhere, end up at sex.
Diarists, critics, and similar roe
Never say nothing, and never say no.
People Who Do Things exceed my endurance;
God, for a man that solicits insurance!

Art For Freedom!
Music and dance give relaxation and relief!
Wind and river dance and go forever free;
If we also dance to music we too feel free!
Painting, sculpture, poetry and music make us
Fresh and new inducing forgetfulness of the past!
Lyrical poetry makes us sing and dance to be free;
Its new version is pop song we hear everywhere!
Musicians, singers and dancers are best entertainers
Moving the world by their melodious tune memorable;
Oscar and Grammy awards are their worthy honours!
Lovers of freedom, birds sing and do all jobs joyously
From the morning till evening nonstop everyday ever!
Combining song and dance or work and dance they live
Making people learn value of music and dance in life;
This is the way to be happy and gay to live in freedom!

Get Rhythm
(johnny cash)
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Hey, get rhythm when you get the blues
Get a rock n roll feelin in your bones
Get taps on your toes and just get gone
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Little shoeshine boy never gets low down
But hes got the dirtiest job in town
Bendin low at the peoples feet
On the windy corner of the dirty street
Well, I asked him while he shined my shoes
Howd he keep from gettin the blues
He grinned as he shook his little head
Popped a shoeshine rag and then he said
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Hey, get rhythm when you get the blues
It only costs a dime, just a nickel a shoe
Does a million dollars worth of good for you
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Well, I started to listen to the shoeshine boy
And I thought I was gonna jump for joy
Slapped on the shoe polish left and right
He took a shoeshine rag and he held it tight
He stopped once to wipe the sweat away
I said youre a mighty little boy to be a-workin that way
He said I like it, with a big wide grin
And he kept on poppin and he said again
Hey, get rhythm when you get the blues
Hey, get rhythm when you get the blues
Yes a jumpy rhythm makes you feel so fine
It shakes all the trouble from your worried mind
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Get a rock n roll feelin in your bones
Get taps on your toes and get gone
Get rhythm when you get the blues

Perversion Of Men And Women
There are women obsessed with actors,
Singers and sportsmen of popularity
To such extent of horbouring wishes
Of being impregnated by them.
Most of men are obsessed with heroines,
Dancers and singers with glamour in looks
To an extent of wishing to enjoy them.
Impregnating is not in their agenda.

Writers and Poets....A Dedication
Writers, poets swing from chandeliers
Happy in the bliss of unlived fear
The quest of Poseidon once found
-Relief.
Jazzing away the hours
In disbelief-
Whoa! man, yeah that's jazz,
But the grooviness,
Once lost ain't that grand-
Ptah, gotta have the beebop
Rhythm, funk and R&B
Red light magic pleasantries,
DAMN! ~whoops I'm on my beat
Lost in the magic of these happy feet.

Reach out to someone and say 'Hello',
Then try to recriut a qualified person on your love!
For, i've got my mind on you and you've got me.
The reputation of your love needs an experienced person,
And you've got me with your nakedness!
For a picture worths more than thousands of words but,
Action speaks louder than words!
I love you intoto and,
Like the players and the workers;
I love you my sweet one and,
Like the lovers and the singers of this muse;
And i am the one qualified to take you on!

Rhythm Of Africa
Pick a dream and call my name,
Because eversywhere you go i will follow you;
For the Rhythm Of Africa is all that i have.
Live at the baseline and let me guide your muse,
For i am so in love with you!
And i want to set you free with my care.
You will feel free around me always,
For the greatest love is all about us;
And like Big Ship sailing over the sea of love,
For i am so in love with you!
Tomorrow never comes but,
My face will be there for you always!
And like the Rhythm Of Africa to bless your muse.

Summer Time Blues
Try to add perfumes to your minds to meet me there,
The summer is here and it is with the blues;
You are not alone on this hot summer night.
We havethe natural fragrant to keep us going,
The summer time blues to swing with the muse;
You are not alone without the blues.
Scents for your love,
Mid-Summer-Night blues to your taste;
Enjoy the summer with the safety of numbers.
Summer time blues,
The fragrant of love to keep you going;
Summer, summer, summer time! !
Summer time blues,
The summer of a muse;
Summer time blues,
The summer of a poem;
With relationships that moves you up.
Summer time blues,
With the heat waves to crown the day;
Perfume your body to meet up to the act.
Let us visit Copacabana and Ipanema this summer,
Of the rocky promontory at sight to give you hope;
Like the summer time blues with your lover.
It is summer time,
Visit the beaches to see things for yourselves;
Summer, summer, summer time! !
Meet me there and touch me with your heart.
A summer time love with the blues,
Like the golden grape of my soul;
Summer is the essence of a colourful life.
The sense of reality in times like this,
The heat with love to share with others;
Where the hearts of lovers do meet like,
One's love never touched before.
Summer time blues is all about this muse,
A time of love to share with your lover;
Summer, summer, summer time! !

She's Got The Rhythm ( And I Got The Blues)
Spoken: Ya'll got the rhythm in here tonight?
Crowd noisethenAw Yea,
Old bar stool's feelin' higher
I've started sinkin' lower
The minute that she waltzed right through that door
Not long ago I held her, like a fool I went and left her
Now she's with somebody new out on that floor.
And she's got the rhythm and I got the blues
And she's showin' me how much I had to lose
With her every little move she's tellin' me I'm over you
She's got the rhythm and I've got the blues.
Yee Haw.
--- Instrumental ---
That music's gettin' louder
As my heart keeps beatin' faster
As she spells out regret in perfect time
Well, I thought I wanted freedom but that ball and chain I need 'em
'Cause when you choose sometimes you lose the prize.
'Cause she's got the rhythm and I got the blues
She's showin' me how much I had to lose
With her every little move she's tellin' me I'm over you
She's got the rhythm and I've got the blues.
--- Instrumental ---
Yeah, she's got the rhythm and I got the blues
She's showin' me how much I had to lose
With her every little move she's tellin' me I'm over you
She's got the rhythm and I've got the blues.
Yeah, with her every little move she's tellin' me I'm over you
She's got the rhythm and I got the blues...

Historically, musicians know what it is like to be outside the norm - walking the high wire without a safety net. Our experience is not so different from those who march to the beat of different drummers.
