All You Need

A glimmer of hope is all you need,
A sprouting seed to help you cope,
A ray of light to keep you sane,
A grain of truth amidst deceit
Is all you need to ease your pain.

Depressed Vilanelle

They say depression's like exhaustion of the brain
And medication's there to help us cope.
A daily tablet keeps me nearly sane

When life brings sorrow over and again
The mind lacks even energy to mope,
They say depression's like exhaustion of the brain.

All passion and desire go down the drain
Soon followed by enthusiasm, hope,
A daily tablet keeps me nearly sane.

Give up the struggle. What is there to gain?
Recovery becomes a slippery slope.
They say depression's like exhaustion of the brain.

But medication's there to ease the pain,
Reduce the gradient as back to life we grope:
A daily tablet keeps me nearly sane.

So praise the Prozac in sonnet or quatrain.
It keeps a chap from Paraquat or rope.
They say depression's like exhaustion of the brain:
A daily tablet keeps me nearly sane.

Sonnet – Amidst

Amidst pitch -black darkness, God shows a light;
Amidst a Forest thick, He shows a way;
Amidst black clouds, He brings a moonlit night;
Amidst sorrows, God gives a happy day.

Amidst the desert, Oasis God shows;
Amidst the stormy Sea, He brings calm;
Amidst much strife, He opens newer doors;
Amidst much hopelessness, a helping palm.

Amidst tempest, God shows a bright light-house;
Amidst the glaciers, much sought-after peak;
Amidst our solitude, He gives a spouse;
Amidst the ravines deep, the lost lamb meek.

Amidst the chaos, God ushers new hope,
Amidst the gloom, He gives the church a Pope.

Dark Light Dark

Living nightmare awake
Solitude unyielding
Forsaken forgotten
Cannot sleep
Cannot dream
Reprieve darkness

Praying sleep
Praying dream
Awake prisoned darkness
Time passes never light
Darkness consuming
Broken lost
Waiting sleep
Waiting dream
Light draws near

Light appears
Shineth deliverance
Warm glimmer hope
Darkness retreats
Happiness surfaces
Thorns gone
Pain fades
Shelter amidst light
Dream envelopes cherish

Dream breaks shattered
Awaken again darkness
Scream pain again
Darkness spinning ruling
Light blackened

A New Beginning...

every sprouting seed
preaches hope
every new leaf says
i am an evidence
every fruit manifests
we are ready to serve
and when everything
is ripe and luscious and
ready
when no hand picks them
when there is no child
the inevitable happens
each fruit rots and falls
and gets foul and
conquered by molds
and moss and will finally
be gone
except the seed
who has the last say again
about hope and its
new beginning.

A Cross Amidst Thorns

A stream flows in a swamp
Rain falls on a barren ground
A saint in a lion’s den.
A dove amongst owls…
There’s a cross amidst thorns.

Innocence dwells with guilt
Hope lingers in a despairing people
Life struggles with the grave.
Love unmasks into hatred…
There’s a cross amidst thorns.

Peace competes with the wrathful hand of anarchy
Conscience fights with corruption
The truth passes along with deception
Righteousness boasts with evil
There’s a cross amidst thorns

There’s a cross amidst thorns
Hope radiates from despair
Light reigns above darkness
Faith conquers fear
There’s a cross amidst thorns

Forget the pain,
It was all in vain,
I need to clear my mind,
I need to cleanse my brain,
Sincerely she signed,
She was the thing that kept me sane,
Did she love me?
How could I not see?
she cast her spell,
And hid the truth,
No one checks the roof,
Because that awful smell,
But how could she! ?
I know she cares,
Amazing we could be,
Instead she just stares,
As if nothing Is wrong,
It's just another song,
In the book of life,
Containing all strife,
So let's open a page,
and see who's on stage,
You can't hide what's right,
I'f there's noone to bite,
You love another you say?
What a bunch of hay,
If you sincerely care,
Then my heart would not tear,
Because I know you'll have hope,
And i know you can cope,
Because your tough,
You can be rough,
So just forget about me,
I'm fine can't you see?
I know you'll move on,
To find someone you love, a tonne,
I'm not the right one,
But your as bright as the sun,
You light up the people around you,
Your pretty hot too,
So go find someone better,
Who will write you love letters,
Someone you want to kiss,
And make you feel bliss,

Dreams of being with or without you

I want to find you cause you found me alone, Isolated from the world of love. Disconnected from an entire network of hope to love I long to hold love.
But you see I’m scared to get close to your warmth, so bear with my faults as I crawl to near your soul, cry showers of pain as I regret the choice that will unfold when I finally lose hope.
I carry on but can’t cope I sit around and mope thinking of experimenting with coke- blaze dope to cope, get crazy as I continue to lose hope… Damn I lost hope. Stashed her in a place of lost control I can’t onthou…
Still slowly in the mist of my silent sleep, almost like I was mocking death as I peacefully rest with no stress, you resurfaced, identity changed, a love I can finally embrace a love I can’t escape…
Was hope all along within my soul? Did I not hear the truth you spoke? Was I so blind as to not realize, you by my side?
But ever blessed… There are no more dreams of coke just dreams of hope, I can cope.
Cause’ finally after a lifetime of pain, I take no more strain, my sins have been washed away by the rain, I take no more strain, I’m no longer in pain, I can love again.
You showed me the way, I’m here to stay. I’ll be free flowing in this freeway of minimal pain, watching dark clouds gather peaceful rain, as I inhale hope from deep within the roots of the AFRICAN SOIL; I will no longer boil from hatred, as I will be a man of patience…

Mummy Wheat

LAID close to Death, these many thousand years,
In this small seed Life hid herself and smiled;
So well she hid, Death was at least beguiled,
Set free the grain--and lo! the sevenfold ears!

Warmed by the sun, wooed by the wind's soft word,
Under blue canopy they hold their state:
For this, ah, was it not worth while to wait
Through all the centuries of hope deferred?

What could they know who laid the seed with Death
Of this Divine fruition fixed and planned?
Love--since Life parts us--lend my hand your hand
And look with me into the eyes of faith.

For here between your hand and mine there lies
A little seed we trust to Death to keep
Through unimagined centuries of sleep
Until the day when Life shall bid it rise.

Our harvest waits us. Who knows where or how,
What worlds away, wrapped in what coil of pain?
But Life shall bid us pluck gold sevenfold grain
Grown from the love she bids us bury now.

Message to Ata Kahn

Writing is your blood and god
it gives you hope to cope
for hurt at length
will grow you strength
if you are in your dome
you'll always sleep at home
for the most glorious pain
you've turned into your grain
of love
thus never shoot the dove!

sprouting on the ground
lifting its head

I Want to Be True

I don't want to be clever or witty or wise
I just want to be true.

Truth?

Truth was us when, inside me, you looked into my eyes and found my love,
Truth was us when we laughed and played,
Truth was us when you cared too much for me to make love to me,
Truth was us, when knowing me, you were brave in your words and helped me be true.

Truth?

Truth was your tenderness, your joy, your heart.
Truth was my surrender, my giving, my happiness.
Truth was your love, was my love, was the love we created between us.
The truth was our honesty and ease.

Truth?

Truth is the emptiness I feel at my loss of you,
Truth is my naïve hope, all present, that you will come to me,
Truth is the pain at night while I grieve for you,
Truth is my smile and my love playing the memories.

Truth is this moment, the now, the present.

The truth is I had something more than wonderful, and I can't have it anymore.

The truth is I so wish I was with you.

Truth?

So many truths?

I will be true in the moment. x

Hope (edited)

I've heard hopes enough to keep you alive,
To pull you from the darkness,
I've heard it's enough to keep you sane,
To keep you in this life,
They say that it's a joyous feeling,
But it's not,
Hopes the knife plunged in your back,
Pushing you to the edge,
Hopes the greatest poison in any dead mans chest,
Hope that they'll come back,
Hope they'll see the light,
But hope hurts more then the deepest betrayal,
It keeps you up at night,
With dreams that tomorrow,
Well, tomorrow everything will go back,
Back to how it was,
Back to love and happiness,
And then in the morning when nothings changed,
When your all alone,
Wondering why,
Then you know the truth,
An it's many sleepless nights,
It's hope when you think you see the light,
At the end of that infinite tunnel,
That it's all going to end just like that,
And it's hope thats putting the knife to your throat,
And is leaving you there to bleed dry,
And it's hope in the morning after the loss,
That causes the pain throbbing in your chest,
And hope is the knowledge that for all your want,
It will never be the same,
And hope is the biggest betrayal,
The greatest poison in a dead mans treasure chest.

Sonnet: A Prayer to God

Amidst all chaos Lord, bring order God;
Amidst the darkness Lord, show me Thine light;
Amidst the atheism, give me Thine word;
Amidst my weakness show, Thine divine might.

Amidst life’s sultriness Lord, give me breeze;
Amidst the mire Lord, could Thou me pull?
Amidst life’s stresses Lord, give me mind’s peace;
Amidst the storms of life, give me a lull.

Amidst my despair Lord, give me new hope;
Amidst my temptations, God, let me win;
Amidst life’s hilly tracts, show me a slope;
Amidst my struggles Lord, let me not sin.

Amidst my foes and woes, show me haven;
Amidst my worldliness, give me Heaven.

The Only Gift

Say not a word, if it be not truth, in whole;
Have not a thought, should you you not this, extol:
That, above all, truth be of paramount importance,
And should never be subjugated to any indulgence
Of selfish endeavor, for even a time, brief-
As same shall surely cause another, grief;
Deceit begets more of same, as a spiral
And causes pain as any form of viral
Cancer may-and it is as real as they may be-
Though, the effects perhaps, only the afflicted may see!
Justice means truth, so deceit is akin to iniquity;
Truth is His Way, and fallacy is not-this simplicity
Is the only rule by which any need, live
A righteous life-the only gift He expects you to give!

Every Grain Of Sand

In the time of my confession, in the hour of my deepest need
When the pool of tears beneath my feet flood every newborn seed
Theres a dyin voice within me reaching out somewhere,
Toiling in the danger and in the morals of despair.
Dont have the inclination to look back on any mistake,
Like cain, I now behold this chain of events that I must break.
In the fury of the moment I can see the masters hand
In every leaf that trembles, in every grain of sand.
Oh, the flowers of indulgence and the weeds of yesteryear,
Like criminals, they have choked the breath of conscience and good cheer.
The sun beat down upon the steps of time to light the way
To ease the pain of idleness and the memory of decay.
I gaze into the doorway of temptations angry flame
And every time I pass that way I always hear my name.
Then onward in my journey I come to understand
That every hair is numbered like every grain of sand.
I have gone from rags to riches in the sorrow of the night
In the violence of a summers dream, in the chill of a wintry light,
In the bitter dance of loneliness fading into space,
In the broken mirror of innocence on each forgotten face.
I hear the ancient footsteps like the motion of the sea
Sometimes I turn, theres someone there, other times its only me.
I am hanging in the balance of the reality of man
Like every sparrow falling, like every grain of sand.

Moon Shade (acrostic)

My eyes beheld a shadow of light.
One mid spring mysterious night,
Only the moon could shine so bright.
Nearer to the wooded crest in my sight,

Shadows glimmer amidst the leaves of green.
Heavens glow falling now I have seen.
Amidst the obscurity a growing sheen,
Darkness blends to enhance the scene.
Each moment I gaze at this, so serene.

Vicarious Living

Fine line between universals and individuality
A path that is your own amidst solid ground
Narrow gate where life passes thru truth
Existential authenticity amidst eternal pillars

We are all hidden in dreams
Sired in caves of self myth

The white light holds us along the steep paths
Pariahs of beauty
Rock music almost breaks up
Give me something with edge
The blue sky is back
Some are ravaged by incest, divorce and pain
Sanity becomes a broad definition
Some fight for every sweet meadow
Some lie and say they only see flowers

Precipitous love sifts me like fine flour
Are you satisfied with living vicariously?
Bells sing in the city of man
Heaven will rumble its glorious thunder
For now the pine trees in the wind grow
I am not a thing but an entity
I must grow like a seed planted in truth
I never liked plastic plants
Vicarious living is jealous with fear

for as long as there is still a sigh left
there is always that possibility for the scream

it is a new day, it is the promise of be-ing.
