Windows To The Soul
Nature opens,
her eyes are bold.
Two opaque puddles reflecting on the floor.
Her smile's afixiated.
without feeling at all,
a white rip in the sky,
and entangled vine hands
seem to hold my attention
long enough to gaze,
to be lost in her eyes
and see the scene of her choice.
Upside down copper trees
and dark,
brass colored leaves.
So inviting,
soothing, is her voice,
greeting you, passing through
to the scene of her choice.
The aridness of the air,
a small hill
and the crispness of the grass.
Stopping at the edge of the woods.
Distinguishing all from what is and what should.

Big Sleep
Sing low the baby 'cos we're here tonight
Together everyone is here in sight
The world and them, no they don't see our sky
But no it isn't right
Wash all the clothes when he is here in sight
I couldn't even be and try to hide
You've got my baby till the day I die
It's so cold outside
Here comes the big sleep scene in my eyes
INSTRUMENTAL
Here comes the big sleep scene in my eyes
I go away 'cos daddy wasn't feeling right
The clouds passing by me in the moonlight
No coming down now that I've got the time
Oh, I was born to fly
Here comes the big sleep scene in my eyes
Here comes the big sleep scene in my eyes

Yoga Is As Yoga Does
(words & music by nelson - burch)
Well I can see that you and yoga will never do
Yoga is as yoga does theres no in-between
Your either with it on the ball or youve blown the scene
I can see lookin at you, you just cant get settled
How can I even move, twistin like a pretzel
(yoga is, yoga does)
(theres no in-between)
(your either with it all the way) or youve blown the scene
(or youve blown the scene)
Come on come on, untwist my legs
Pull my arms a lot
How did I get so tied up
In this yoga knot
You tell me just how I can take this yoga serious
When all it ever gives to me is a pain in my posteriors
(yoga is, yoga does)
(theres no in-between)
(your either with it all the way) or youve blown the scene
(or youve blown the scene)
Stand upside down on your head, feet against the wall
A simple yoga exercise done by one and all
Now cross your eyes and hold your breath, look just like a clown
Yogas sure to catch you if you come falling down
(yoga is, yoga does)
(theres no in-between)
(your either with it all the way) or youve blown the scene

Freedom Of Choice
Maurice white, beloyd taylor & azar lawrence
You gave your vote to pass the law
Do you want to take it back
All the bad news we read about today
Is it because our systems on the rack
Can you make your dreams straight reality
Can you dig the prime interest rates
Do you think youd meet hospitality
If you went to the white house by mistake
You got the freedom of choice
You got to hold on and speak with your voice
You got the freedom of choice
You got to hold on and speak with your voice
How long I wonder,
People have to wait on equal opportunity
Instead of getting better,
Rain is getting wetter to fair reality
Employment line, jammed up behind
A smiling face with promises
Will all our hopes vanish in the soap
Cause youve been washed super clean with jive
You got the freedom of choice
You got to hold on and speak with your voice
You got the freedom of choice
You got to hold on and speak with your voice

The Rivers Edge
While drifting on these ebony waves of silk,
the air is cooler here,
where my feet aren't touching the ground
A dreary archway of trees surround,
the entrance to the woods upon me.
My sight has seemed to wake the leaves,
slightly shaking the trees.
Waking the birds,
but not a sound I can hear.
And with every passing cloud.
I feel as if time has been sealed on this scene.
For a moment,
this light feels serene.
And this picture,
is oh so crystal clear.
And the sky,
so divine in color,
a dark blue,
so distinct,
this perfect hue.
Has captured the breeze,
the open air,
the contrast of the trees.
The oh so green,
and violet flowers
line the ridge.
This distinct feeling
of my soul releasing
into this sight
off the rivers
edge.

Try 4 (A Happy)
In my mind happy is a choice
You either choose to be happy or
you choose to get by
A life of horror's ritual or
a simple joy's choice
All held by the type of smile of nature's will
Lonely has a hold
Life never travels right
Yet what always stands, is choice
Never too late, the choice to try
Also is the choice to be happy

Two Halves of a Soul (song)
A beautiful new spring day
The grass, new tender and green
The trees, sprouting new leaves
A small rose vine climes a tree
And flowers pedals of scarlet red
‘A crystal pond paces away
All the little golden sun perch
Enjoying its fresh sparkling waters
A flock of pure white swans
Swimming their graceful way
A perfect wedding, for a perfect love
As we hold our hands so tightly
And look so deep in each others eyes
We know the other is the one
The missing half of our loving soul
Two collared dove light in a tree
And coo a sincere love song
It sounds like it was written for us
As we walk this pedal sprinkled aisle
Pledge our vowls and say “I do”
A perfect wedding, for a perfect love
As we hold our hands so tightly
And look so deep in each others eyes
We know the other is the one
The missing half of our loving soul

So nice
Your eyes are so nice,
To love them was a choice,
For you i rise my voice,
Talking of you in praise
Your smile brings tears,
Your smile rises buried memories,
You smile eradicates all doubts,
Your smile is so nice,
To love it was a choice

October
The green elm with the one great bough of gold
Lets leaves into the grass slip, one by one, --
The short hill grass, the mushrooms small milk-white,
Harebell and scabious and tormentil,
That blackberry and gorse, in dew and sun,
Bow down to; and the wind travels too light
To shake the fallen birch leaves from the fern;
The gossamers wander at their own will.
At heavier steps than birds' the squirrels scold.
The rich scene has grown fresh again and new
As Spring and to the touch is not more cool
Than it is warm to the gaze; and now I might
As happy be as earth is beautiful,
Were I some other or with earth could turn
In alternation of violet and rose,
Harebell and snowdrop, at their season due,
And gorse that has no time not to be gay.
But if this be not happiness, -- who knows?
Some day I shall think this a happy day,
And this mood by the name of melancholy
Shall no more blackened and obscured be.

Kalt
He spoke to me on a hill
My ears ringing with his voice
I had to make a choice
To hold the truth, or to spill
The barrel of the gun to my head
I tremble, eyes closed, mouth quivers
The air is cold, I have the shivers
I knew, he wanted me dead
I clench my eyes, tears pull away
His voice lowers, no louder than the wind
He knows I have sinned
There's nothing left to say
I open my eyes, the gun in my hand
The man is gone, like time in the sand

We are the lost
The ones forgotten
And this time
The future is our's
It's in our hands
We're the tear in your eyes
We're the blood in your vains
We're the beat of your heart
We're the sweat on your face
We're the ones that you chase
We're the promise that you made
We're the voice in your head
We're the lies that you said
We're the kids that you pushed away
We are
We are the the lost
The ones forgotten
And this time
The future is our's
It's in our hands
We are one
We're the pride of your lives
We're the light shining deep in your eyes
We're the choice that you made
We're the smile on your face
When you sleep at night
We're the best thing you had
But you left us behind
We're the kids that you pushed away
We are
We are the the lost
The ones forgotten
And this time
The future is our's
It's in our hands
We are one
One
We're the pain that you feel
We're the scars that don't heal
We're the tear in your eyes
We're the reason you cry
We're the voice in your head
We're the lies that you said
We're the best thing you had
But you pushed us away
We are the lost
The ones forgotten
And this time
The future is our's
It's in our hands
We are
We are the lost
The ones forgotten
And we've got nothing to lose
Together we stand up tall
We are one

Fix Your Gaze
When you hit your note
Its like you had no choice
I cant resist distractions web
When you use that voice
On a crowded stage
I play soliloquy
Im at the center of the earth
When you gaze on me
The familiar ring of the native drums
Sometimes I hardly recognize it
Inspiration comes
With the tip of my mind
Holding back the sea
I have no choice but to prevail
When you gaze on me
Ive got the ghost of a new machine
Where I can find reality routine
Every time you fix your gaze on me
When you gaze on me
I feel a ring of fire
When you gaze on me
And I lose all desire
Fix your heart on me
Ill show you what Ive memorized
Fix your gaze on me
I need to see your eyes [uh - good god!]
Out in the cold the assassin waits
Armored by love no sword can penetrate
Every time you fix your heart on me
Im a new machine
Where I can find reality routine
Every time you fix your gaze on me

Hand On Heart
All eyes were staring you floated through the room
Aarmed with your razor smile cutting to the bone
My voice fell useless you flashed a quick hello
Feeling the fool, could you tell it showed?
But that was sometime ago
A memory vague and fading slow, of somewhere Id been
Hand on heart
A promise, a word, and a voice
Hand on heart
A rhythm of hope and choice will keep us together
I dont know if I can reach that high
Its a long way to fall
Hauntingly holding my fate with a gaze
Like a child mesmerized by the candles flame
Oh what lies behind those eyes
I could only guess
That certain way you stood apart frome rest
Now where is sotime ago?
Whene everything moved in slow-mo-tion
Caught by my watering eye
Hand on heart
A promise, a word and a voice
Hand on heart
Promising Ill never go
Hand on heart
For reasons youll never know, together through thick and thin,
Lose or win, Ill be there for you
Strange how the mind changes time and time again
Thins once important now pale in comparison
Hand on heart
A promise, a word, and a voice
Hand on heart
A rhythm of hope, and a vision of choice
Hand on heart
Promising Ill never go
Hand on heart for reasons youll never know
I promise girl, hand on heart

As Toilsome I Wander'd
AS TOILSOME I wander'd Virginia's woods,
To the music of rustling leaves, kick'd by my feet, (for 'twas
autumn,)
I mark'd at the foot of a tree the grave of a soldier,
Mortally wounded he, and buried on the retreat, (easily all could I
understand;)
The halt of a mid-day hour, when up! no time to lose--yet this sign
left,
On a tablet scrawl'd and nail'd on the tree by the grave,
Bold, cautious, true, and my loving comrade.
Long, long I muse, then on my way go wandering;
Many a changeful season to follow, and many a scene of life;
Yet at times through changeful season and scene, abrupt, alone, or in
the crowded street, 10
Comes before me the unknown soldier's grave--comes the inscription
rude in Virginia's woods,
Bold, cautious, true, and my loving comrade.

Lovely One
Lovely one,
Just as on the cool stone
Of the spring, the water
Opens a wide flash of foam,
So is the smile of your face,
Lovely one.
Lovely one,
With delicate hands and slender feet
Like a silver pony,
Walking, flower of the world,
Thus I see you,
Lovely one.
Lovely one,
With a nest of copper entangled
On your head, a nest
The coloUr of dark honey
Where my heart burns and rests,
Lovely one.
Lovely one,
Your eyes are too big for your face,
Your eyes are too big for the earth.
There are countries, there are rivers,
In your eyes,
My country is your eyes,
I walk through them,
They light the world
Through which I walk,
Lovely one.
Lovely one,
Your breasts are like two loaves made
Of grainy earth and golden moon,
Lovely one.
Lovely one,
Your waist,
My arm shaped it like a river when
It flowed a thousand years through your sweet body,
Lovely one.
Lovely one,
There is nothing like your hips,
Perhaps earth has
In some hidden place
The curve and the fragrance of your body,
Perhaps in some place,
Lovely one.
Lovely one, my lovely one,
Your voice, your skin, your nails,
Lovely one, my lovely one,
Your being, your light, your shadow,
Lovely one,
All that is mine, lovely one,
All that is mine, my dear,
When you walk or rest,
When you sing or sleep,
When you suffer or dream,
Always,
When you are near or far,
Always,
You are mine, my lovely one,
Always.

Choice of attention - to pay attention to this and ignore that - is to the inner life what choice of action is to the outer. In both cases, a man is responsible for his choice and must accept the consequences, whatever they may be.

Sketch From Bowden Hill After Sickness
How cheering are thy prospects, airy hill,
To him who, pale and languid, on thy brow
Pauses, respiring, and bids hail again
The upland breeze, the comfortable sun,
And all the landscape's hues! Upon the point
Of the descending steep I stand.
How rich,
How mantling in the gay and gorgeous tints
Of summer! far beneath me, sweeping on,
From field to field, from vale to cultured vale,
The prospect spreads its crowded beauties wide!
Long lines of sunshine, and of shadow, streak
The farthest distance; where the passing light
Alternate falls, 'mid undistinguished trees,
White dots of gleamy domes, and peeping towers,
As from the painter's instant touch, appear.
As thus the eye ranges from hill to hill,
Here white with passing sunshine, there with trees
Innumerable shaded, clustering more,
As the long vale retires, the ample scene,
Warm with new grace and beauty, seems to live.
Lives! all is animation! beauty! hope!
Snatched from the dark and dreamless grave, so late,
Shall I pass silent, now first issuing forth,
To feel again thy fragrance, to respire
Thy breath, to hail thy look, thy living look,
O Nature!
Let me the deep joy contrast,
Which now the inmost heart like music fills,
With the sick chamber's sorrows, oft from morn,
Silent, till lingering eve, save when the sound
Of whispers steal, and bodings breathed more low,
As friends approach the pillow: so awaked
From deadly trance, the sick man lifts his eyes,
Then in despondence closes them on all,
All earth's fond wishes! Oh, how changed are now
His thoughts! he sees rich nature glowing round,
He feels her influence! languid with delight,
And whilst his eye is filled with transient fire,
He almost thinks he hears her gently say,
Live, live! O Nature, thee, in the soft winds,
Thee, in the soothing sound of summer leaves,
When the still earth lies sultry; thee, methinks,
Ev'n now I hear bid welcome to thy vales
And woods again!
And I will welcome them,
And pour, as erst, the song of heartfelt praise.
From yonder line, where fade the farthest hills
Which bound the blue lap of the swelling vale,
On whose last line, seen like a beacon, hangs
Thy tower, benevolent, accomplished Hoare,
To where I stand, how wide the interval!
Yet instantaneous, to the hurrying eye
Displayed; though peeping towers and villages
Thick scattered, 'mid the intermingling elms,
And towns remotely marked by hovering smoke,
And grass-green pastures with their herds, and seats
Of rural beauty, cottages and farms,
Unnumbered as the hedgerows, lie between!
Roaming at large to where the gray sky bends,
The eye scarce knows to rest, till back recalled
By yonder ivied cloisters in the plain,
Whose turret, peeping pale above the shade,
Smiles in the venerable grace of years.
As the few threads of age's silver hairs,
Just sprinkled o'er the forehead, lend a grace
Of saintly reverence, seemly, though compared
With blooming Mary's tresses like the morn;
So the gray weather-stained towers yet wear
A secret charm impressive, though opposed
To views in verdure flourishing, the woods,
And scenes of Attic taste, that glitter near.
O venerable pile, though now no more
The pensive passenger, at evening, hears
The slowly-chanted vesper; or the sounds
Of 'Miserere,' die along the vale;
Yet piety and honoured age retired,
There hold their blameless sojourn, ere the bowl
Be broken, or the silver chord be loosed.
Nor can I pass, snatched from untimely fate,
Without a secret prayer, that so my age,
When many a circling season has declined,
In charity and peace may wait its close.
Yet still be with me, O delightful friend,
Soothing companion of my vacant hours,
Oh, still be with me, Spirit of the Muse!
Not to subdue, or hold in moody spell,
The erring senses, but to animate
And warm my heart, where'er the prospect smiles,
With Nature's fairest views; not to display
Vain ostentations of a poet's art,
But silent, and associate of my joys
Or sorrows, to infuse a tenderness,
A thought, that seems to mingle, as I gaze,
With all the works of GOD. So cheer my path,
From youth to sober manhood, till the light
Of evening smile upon the fading scene.
And though no pealing clarion swell my fame,
When all my days are gone; let me not pass,
Like the forgotten clouds of yesterday,
Nor unremembered by the fatherless
Of the loved village where my bones are laid.

Stay & Drown
Good God have I been dreaming
This paralyzing feeling?
Was I left alone? where have you gone?
Were you somewhere else just sleeping?
If I wait to wake you
Ill never ask you
Would you take my hand?
In the deepest end
Would you stay and drown in me?
My open eyes see everything
But Im passing all the days
Through a window pane
And as the scene would change
Id stay the same
This paradise was nothing new
But the paradise gets tired of you
A single conversation
Stole my attention
My open eyes see everything
And you see nothing
And dont forget it
