Unhypnagogic State
Here today, tomorrow gone, one, wan,
Yearns for yesterday's illusions bright,
Pain shards slatting shuttered pane, blind blight,
Nightmare shatters song that seemed so strong.
Anticipations fed, le[a]d, b[l]ed, sped, gone.
Ghoulish shades shed light that once read right,
Overdrawn check, wreck, suspect, indict,
Grief's reef sinks hurt heart's glow now woebegone,
Intense pain's reign won't wane, tears stain mind numb.
Calm hovers ill at ease, invites insight's
Sullen reaction stormy, tension tight,
Then 'cease upon the midnight' must succumb.
Abyssmal Lethe spawns soul's black hole schemes,
TEmpest tossed, sleep shoaled, unholy dreams.
Hell harmony dissolves, hope melts, felt wrong,
Youth yields stage, page, to age's cage despite
Past pleasure. Mirage mirror's sable night,
Negates lost hopes, frosts urge surge to belong.
Ahead read as dead end where shadows throng
Gulf gift signed disappointment, unplumbed plight
Of mourning for mirth's dearth guessed granted quite.
Ghosts guest gest shared, snared unprepared. Doom's gong
Icy echoes, Eden's exile among
Crumbling crust, rust's dust. Disgust's gust fright
Shivers sends, wrends hope for scope through flight.
Time dreads what fate has read[y], feels pain's prong
Accumulating heartache as fear teems.
TEars cascade, afraid, frayed nerves, soul screams.
Here today, tomorrow gone, one, wan,
Yearns for yesterday's illusions bright,
Pain replacing shattered pane tonight,
Nightmare erasing song that strung along
Anticipations tender, warmth which shone.
Glance chance inspired, joy fired, that once felt right,
Overdrawn, in disbelief, dark blight,
Grief's reef shoal founders soul so woebegone,
In pain whose reign won't wane, tears stain mind numb.
Calm hovers ill at ease, invites insight's
Sudden reaction stormy, tension tight.
To cease upon the midnight, to succumb
At last to tempting Lethe welcome seems
TEmpest tossed sleep lost by broken dreams
Acrostic Sonnet Hypnagogic State Hypnagogic - sleep inducing
Words in brackets convey two or more meanings meanings
First word of each line reads top down:
Here yearns pain. Nightmare anticipations ghoulish. Overdrawn grief's intense. Calm sullen, then abyssmal tempest.
First word of each line reads bottom up:
Tempest abyssmal then sullen calm - intense grief's overdrawn ghoulish anticipations - pain yearns here
Second sonnet First word of each line reads top down
Hell, youth past negates. Ahead gulf of ghosts, icy, crumbling, shivers time, accumulating tears.

Time & Tears
I didnt cry all of these tears just to have you show up here again
I didnt lie awake all these nights to have you come walking back in
I didnt change my whole life around, not to mention my dreams and my plans
To have you come back with your same ol act thinking that Ill understand
Time and tears have mended the pain
Healed all the hurt and changed everything
Time and tears Im happy to say
Time and tears have washed it away
Time and tears have washed you away
I didnt think that I would survive the day that you walked out on me
I truly was more dead than alive; and the pain, lord I couldnt believe
I asked God to please have mercy on me and to ease all the feelings I felt
Then I saw the light, now Im more than alright;
Im much better off since you left
Time and tears have mended the pain
Healed all the hurt and changed everything
Time and tears have carried me through
Time and tears got me over you
Time and tears and somebody new
Time and tears is all that it takes
To mend shattered hopes or a heart when it breaks
Time and tears have carried me through
Time and tears got me over you
Time and tears and somebody new
Time and tears, time and tears got me over you
Time and tears, got me over you

Spaces of faith
Spaces of faith Holy of Lord
There is a joy soul is waiting
There I will bear my pain
There the pain is free from tears
In the peace in His grace
Keeping the word of faith
There my pain is free from tears
Where The Lord shares always love
Found peace the soul of faith
There my pain is free from tears
Lulled to sleep on a dreamy wing
Found in a soul of wisdom
Leap of faith far from uncertainty
Far away from any evilness
Far from the worldly grief

Beyond the grief.
It seems as if we are stalled by our grief,
unable to move away from it – and I wonder
if we will ever get over the loss of you. In time
they say we will, that one day we will finally be free
of the sadness that burdens our hearts, and we will dance
in our remembrance, and there will be no more tears.
But if that's true, I must admit I will miss the tears
when there is an eventual easing of the grief.
I am not as eager to begin the dance
of life without you, for the world has lost its wonder
for me, some of its shine - and being free
seems awfully relative - I suppose just like time.
I can still so clearly recall the last time
we were all together - the tears
we shared, even laughter, when you were set free
of this earthly pain - and even in our grief,
we were filled with such wonder
as we witnessed the end of life's dance.
When I was a little boy you used to let me dance
on the top of your shoes, moving in time
to the music on the radio. Is it any wonder
that music, to this day, brings tears
of joy, mingled with the ever-present grief,
which still has not set me completely free.
I now realize there is a cost to love; it's not free -
for when you love, you buy a ticket to the dance
of life - which comes with joy and pain, celebration and grief.
And if you have lived a long enough time,
as I have, even when the loss brings never ending tears,
with a broken heart, it's worth all of the pain, and it's no wonder
people love so fiercely - so much so that they cease to wonder
about the why, when or where - and now I realize that I am free
to love, and to lose, which will bring with it many tears.
But each tear is worth it - and seems to make the dance
more authentic. In the end, I will measure my time
by how much of it was filled with love, and with grief.
No longer will I wonder whether or not I should dance,
I will just be free, stepping in and out of time,
wearing my tears like a badge of honor as I move beyond the grief.

A Litany of Lethe
O Lethe, hidden waters never dry,
We, all we weary and heavy-laden, cry,
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
--All we have sinnèd, and yet the scars remain.
--And we, all we had sorrow.--And we had pain.
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
Thou that dost flow from Death to Death through Sleep,
Whose waters are the tears of those that weep,
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
Thou that dost bring sweet peace to hospitals,
And to the captive openest prison-walls,
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
Thou that dost loose the soul from murdered Truth,
And youth from yesterday, and age from youth,
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
Thou from lost love remembered sett'st us free
From hopeless love, a lorn eternity;
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
Thou from repentance tak'st the sting, from vice
The memory of a forfeit Paradise;
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
Thou in our grief dost hide from us no less
The anguish of remembered happiness;
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
Thou that dost lay alike on all thy spell,
And free the saint from heaven, the wretch from hell,
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
Bring, bring soft sleep, and close all eyes for us,
Sleep without dreams, and peace oblivious;
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!
We, all we weary and heavy-laden, cry,
Too tired to live, and yet too weak to die,
O Lethe, let us find thee and forget!

Funny things Tears
The other day
I woke up feeling low
I tried not to think about you
to stop the inevitable tears that threatened to fall.
Funny things tears, they linger yet do not fall.
That night I got angry
as I walked fron the bus stop to my home
My mood slowly dissipated into sadness
I felt the bloody tears linger
am guessing they showed because some ladies looked at me
gossiped and actually stood to stare
Funny thing tears are, they know no shame.
Yesterday I drunk myself into a stupor
because I couldnt bear the thoughts
the happy memories, the questions.
I smoked because I wanted to burn away my pain
my loneliness, my intense craving to end it all
Funny things tears, they come when you least expect them
Last night I hated you
Hated my intense stupid love for you
Hated that my life was blank without you
I went running, jogging to absolve the pain
to numb myself, but pain is stubborn
I ran for miles but still felt that swift flash.
Funny things tears, they burn.
Today I woke up
ignoring my phone I tried to resist it
to resist the urge to call you,
But I did,
Lunch, drinks, kisses more promises
apologies more excuses
smiling, laughing, forgetting
Funny thing love it forgets the tears easily.
Tonight I sleep soundly
But Tomnmorow I work and the cycle begins.
Funny things tears sometimes they cleanse you.

What Have I Done Wrong?
Here again to show the sadness, pain, and grief
Not of lost love, but a pain so bleak
A life that seems so meek
A darkened shadow that creeps it way to kill
To kill the ones who show no lives, low-lives
A time shall come when a time shall pass
A time when time has started to tick, to click
Madness fills the veins of grief
Insanity thrives even deeper
But a time shall come when the grasses shall grow green
The sky will be blue, and the storm will calm
The mind will ease, the heart will slow
And a new life begins
Now the new life has begun, but pain still thrives
And grief and hatred are still strong
Happiness is losing
Excitement long gone
What have I done wrong?

Dead And Gone
In years from now when I am dead and gone
Will people read the words that I had wrote
If they do will they agree with what they read
And if so truly, understand the feelings I had spoke.
Will they feel the pain and suffering that I felt
In the many days of my own life
Maybe they will etch my feelings inside their soul
And If so, I wonder for me if they will cry.
I wonder if anyone will go into a deep thought
After reading the words that I had spoke
And then will they think and understand that feeling too
While inside their soul or heart a memory I will had awoke.
Maybe they will be with me in those lonesome nights
When my soul and I felt so very alone
When I couldn't sleep so I had to write
While my soul stayed stationary, but my mind it did roam.
And will they feel the pain that I did feel
With every line that I suffered as I did write
Will they shed a tear that my lover never shed for me
While she was always in my heart and in my sight.
And when they finish my book and close it shut
Will they reflect my feelings as they walk away
Will they say they know the pain that I have felt
As they too had felt it in their very own days.
Will they cry the tears that was never cried for me
As they go searching for my last resting place
To give the sympathy they might say I deserve
While trying to visualize my soul through my face.
If they look and find and then walk unto my grave
I wander for me if i will receive long forgotten grieving
Telling me how sad and the pity they hold for me
After reading my words, maybe they will start believing.
And maybe they will walk to the graves of the others
The ones who did me wrong and who sealed my fate
Who made me the poet whom I had to become
Will they tell them their souls, and living they do hate.
So as I finish writing with these last few thoughts
I hope forever my words and feelings will continue on
As I know I am not alone and my pain is not fastened to me
But really who will know, until I am dead and gone.

Getting Through
I know my heart is shattered into a million pieces
I know I've lost something valuable, precious and irreplaceable
I know there will be days when I will cry and break and hurt
But I know too that I am strong enough to get through this
My soul has cried many tears that have failed to heal my aching heart
My mind has screamed many thoughts that have failed to ease my inner pain
All thats left now is to rise up, be strong, sit with the loss and the pain and work through it
For the only way out is through - i can't jump over it or go around it - I have to go through it
I will come out on the other side a wiser, happier person
I will not sit and dwell on this loss and pain
I will grieve, it is necessary, but I will not focus all my attention on the pain
Instead I will focus my attention on getting through it, on looking forward at the bright lights ahead
The world cannot consist only of pain and misery, I refuse to believe that
I will find happiness and joy and cling to every little bit of it with all the strength I have
I will be whole and loved again

Tears In Sleep
All night the cocks crew, under a moon like day,
And I, in the cage of sleep, on a stranger's breast,
Shed tears, like a task not to be put away---
In the false light, false grief in my happy bed,
A labor of tears, set against joy's undoing.
I would not wake at your word, I had tears to say.
I clung to the bars of the dream and they were said,
And pain's derisive hand had given me rest
From the night giving off flames, and the dark renewing.

Time's Tide
Those cause/effect relations seek to investigate
ask why life’s lamentations can’t flow past pearly gate,
why can’t hope’s expectations some sects anticipate
show we’re wheeled incarnations, frustrations, fears, negate
Why worry what tomorrow may offer if at all,
share laughter, spurning sorrow, ignoring wailing wall,
each wakes one day, hopes hollow, must piper pay as shawl
in winding sheet few follow, no trumps for final call.
Time's tide has been extended beyond the sands of hope,
free ride from heyday ended, frayed tether, broken rope,
recount lost time expended, events' ghost mirage grope,
as most proud man intended black hole's Time's telescope.
Bright spark - life's candle gutters - so swiftly movements cease,
one cry before heart flutters, before 'Here rests in peace! '
one sigh then parting’s shutters are drawn with no surcease,
one dies while crowd bread butters inheritance apiece.
In youth great expectations mask ignorance - a vice -
few meet anticipations, most, sour, scower at Fate’s dice.
life’s joke is on Creation’s head, ne’er repeated twice,
one innings: vindications leave after-thoughts to lice.
Behind lie verses threaded, skeins sense retains in vain,
life's loves too soon are bedded by Fate immune to pain.
life’s gloves too soon are shredded by thorny greed for gain,
‘Above’ is concept wedded to fear, none bat again.

Time's Tide
Some cause/effect relations
would understand and splice -
what wall of lamentations
may give a game played twice?
Why care Creation's date to play -
the aeons ebb and flow, -
Man wakes one day with price to pay,
and nowhere left to go.
Time's tide has been extended
beyond the sands of hope,
the time for games has ended,
what trumps remain, what scope?
In youth great expectations
masked ignorance - a vice -
of how anticipations
can sour at throw of dice.
A spark, - life's candle gutters -
so swiftly mouvements cease.
One cry before heart flutters,
before 'Here rests in peace! '
Luck's tithe has been expended,
no slack remains, the rope
draws tight 'spite rules once bended
to ease life's line, to cope.
And like these verses threaded
in skein sense would retain,
Life's loves too soon are bedded
by Fate immune to pain.

Tears Of Poverty
Only there is God
who can feel
the pain
and tears of poverty.
Life do not pass
Time stops its needle
to swing around
Only clouds of
grief and pain
seen surround.
No friends
No help
No sympathy
only there is a
hope that
this darkness of
poverty will
disappear
keep a person alive.
God only see
the tears of
poverty
try to say
you can change
your fate only
with your will power.
Go ahead
I must help you.
I also do not
want to spoil
your tears. Because
darkness never
stay long.

Weird Nightmare
Weird nightmare
You haunt my every dream
Weird nightmare
Tell me whats your scheme?
Can it be that youre a part
Of a lonely broken heart?
Weird nightmare
Why must you torment me?
Weird nightmare
Pain and misery
In a heart thats loved and lost
Take away the grief youve caused
Cant sleep at night
Twist, turn in fright
With the fear that Ill live it all again
In my dreams
Youre there to haunt me
When you say she doesnt want me
Ive been hurt
Do you know what that means?
Weird nightmare
Take away this dream youve born
Weird nightmare
Mend a heart thats torn
That has paid the price of love
A thousand fold
Bring me a love
With a heart of gold
Weird nightmare

I Remeber
'All my life,
I've been searching,
until that day when,
I met you.'
These words seem foolish,
to me now,
just looking back,
I fell for that? !
What did I know,
nothing I suppose,
for now I see,
you never meant a word.
I hope one day,
I can look back,
and understand why,
you did what you did.
But until then,
I just sit,
in pain and agony,
because of you.
I hope one day,
you'll feel such pain,
then realize how badly,
you hurt me.
I know it's wrong,
to wish pain on another,
but I really want you,
to understand all this.
But that's long in the past,
though days I still dream,
of the times we shared,
and what you meant to me.
We had something special,
but it never lasted long,
but those days leading up to it,
I'll never forget.
The way you let,
your heart do the talking,
the way you just,
were all you could be.
The way our eyes met,
the way our hands touched,
such perfect days,
now just dreams.
I would get lost,
in your eyes,
and keep silent,
as you spoke.
I remember those days,
do you as well,
remember the time,
my heart skipped a beat?
The laughs,
the tears,
the love,
and warmth.
But I guess,
it's all in the past,
there's nothing I can do,
but just let go of you.

Sleeping With The Numb
Waking only to feel nothing.
Just let me be.
Let me sleep so numb.
Pain is nonexistent in all extremities.
Time tics by and by.
and still nothing has changed.
still the same. who cares about that
guy who use live with the inflicted pain by
you over again and again.
hes just a stain and now its time to clean up.
waking to only feel nothing.
let me be. let me sleep so numb.
remember nothing. a nonexistent past.
house that burnt down and with it
all my memories accept for me being constantly numb.
A drug induce state should be one most kids celebrate.
but not this one. it was so fake.
Waking only to feel nothing.
let me be.
let me sleep so numb.
skin melts and still nothing,
i bleed and still nothing,
hit in the head and still nothing,
salt in the eyes and still absolutely nothing.
where are all the feelings
I'm so suppose to be feeling.
waking up only to feel nothing.
let me be.
let me sleep so oh so numb

Something Beautiful Remains
(t. britten/ g. lyle)
Producer: terry britten
Album: wildest dreams (96)
Tears will leave no stain
Time will ease the pain
For every light that fades
Something beautiful remains
Were living in a world of stars and dust
Between heaven and all that surrounds us
Were travellers here, spirits passing through
And the love we give, is all that will endure
Hey now, what we had is gone
But I still remember you
Just like a rose after the rain
Something beautiful remains
Tears will leave no stain
Time will ease the pain
For every light that fades
Something beautiful remains
Now the darkness falls, the suns going down
One by one, the stars are coming out
Tide comes in, washes footprints from the sand
As one day ends, a new day must begin
Hey now, though we are apart
Youre here forever in my dreams
Hey now, love is lost and gained
(what you gonna do about it, what you gonna say)
Something beautiful remains
Tears will leave no stain
Time will ease the pain
For every light that fades
Something beautiful remains
And you wonder sometimes how we carry on
When youve lost the love you knew
But its alright, its alright
To your own heart be true

Pain of Tears
I lie my head down and cry
Pain of tears come running down my face
They wonder what the pain of tears are for
They try to calm me down
But with this pain no one can
I wonder myself why
And will these tears come everyday
That I will never know
That I will have to figure out
This pain is so sharp
I don't believe I can live with it
Till the day I die
This pain will stay with me

The Mirror And The Reflection
I look into a mirror, who is it that I see?
This person cannot be me, can she?
Her smile scares me
The person she is
Is not the person I am
What is in her eyes
Is grief
Hatred
No emotions that is happy
What happened with the girl infront of me?
What made her so sad?
She smiles again
That sends shivers down my spine
Her tears make me cry
She falls and me not long after
We cry
There is just grief
Nothing can make us stop crying
Oh dear god
I look at my hands
The tears won't stop falling
Why is it that I am crying?
I am not that girl
I am not sad
I look up to the mirror
Maybe another sight will stand there
The mirror falls
Soon there is not just tears in my hand
There is also blood
Blood that stained from my heart
And as I realize, That girl was indeed me
The one I will be come
The one with a broken heart
The one with a dying fate
But that I already knew
And as I lie there
The reflection on the shattered mirror
Laughs with a sad pain in her voice
A day of heartbreak
A simple statement
Just a few words long
Cut like a knife
And now everything's wrong
It started with a deep breath
The words then followed
Made shattered dreams
Now everything's hollowed
She kept it in
The pain, heartache and fears
Rest her head and prayed
Tomorrow there would be no tears
Soon the sun rose
Bringing a new day
Smiling
She locked her fears away
Keeping busy
Pushing out the thought
Watching the clock
Waiting to see what time brought
Hours passed by
Time will soon tell
Has her heart grown stronger
And out of love fell
The clock has struck
And so it seems
She's out of luck
And weak
Not a word was sent
Not a word was heard
Staring at his name
Her eyes teared
Pushing through her dark cloud
Setting aside fears
Needing to hear his voice
Wiping away tears
With a simple 'hi'
Relief washed over her
With a sigh
Her pain fades away
After a day of uncertainty
Heartache & pain
Still in love it seems
With no disdain
