Memory of CATS - after T.S. Eliot and Andrew Lloyd Webber

Midnight not a soul on bare scene left,
like hurt heart that has been reft
from cue beat on life’s stage.
Just spotlit echoes must haunt empty stalls,
outcast cats have sprung their cage.

Memory, all alone as bright lights dim,
where once stage-struck might minds swim -
fast bust cast must disengage!
Phantom sound waves hesitantly recall
heavy heart’s swing – turn the page!

No more floor dance, no performance,
cast is fast askance,
Time encircles plush stalls and circles,
silence, footloose, heavy falls.

Daylight, one must wait for the sunrise,
for no longer may cats’ eyes
twinkle out and assuage.
Only echo, tonight as comparison galls,
henceforth hovers here onstage.

Time disperses all fat purses,
contract contrast appals,
sad circumstance, outlook errance,
promptly unmasks surface romance.

Ditch me, its so easy to leave me
all alone with my memory
of full-house pounce bounce - turn life's page!
If you ask me you’ll understand necessity prompts
search for fresh part to engage...

Heavy Heart

Heavy heart think of yesterday
And you're torn apart
Thinking of the ways it was easier to smile
More than today love grew wild
Heavy heart like a perfect stranger
You make it hard
Taking all the blame - still you hear the sound
Calling your name - troubles coming down
Too heavy

Turn it around
It's pressing me down
Heavy heart
This time I find
It weighs on my mind
Heavy heart

It's just like you to take it all so far
Then you feel abused and wonder who you are
Everything you've done - anything you start
Can turn and run
Ain't it true - it's only just a stage
Gotta give it room - start an empty page
Get back in the game - but do it your way
You don't have to play so heavy

Turn it around
It's pressing me down
Heavy heart
This time I find
It weighs on my mind
Heavy heart

When your heart is strong it leads you on
But when it breaks you
It devastates you for so long
Turn it around
It's pressing me down
Heavy heart
This time I find
It weighs on my mind
Heavy heart

Turn it around
It's pressing me down
Heavy heart
This time I find
It weighs on my mind
Heavy heart

Thank You for the Memory

My body tingles as I lay there still feeling your body wrapped around mine
I close my eyes and notice that there is nothing I can do but dream
For you have left me here with nothing but a memory
A memory of what we had what we were
A memory of nothing more at this time nothing to have to look forward to
My heart aches as I open my eyes and turn to see nothing but an empty bed
The scent of you makes me wonder what could have been
It makes me wonder what went so wrong
We had something that could never be replaced and not it has vanished right before my eyes
You think that the memory will be nothing more than a picture
They say “A memory will last a life time”
I say “A memory will only last a life time as long as you can keep it alive inside of your heart”
There is one thing that should be said
Thank You for the memory that will last me a lifetime of joy

The Stage Is Bare (A Michael Jackson Tribute)

The stage is bare
only a microphone stands alone.
A part of our life is gone;
no, more we hear the words and music
that once so tenderly graced our ears.
A gulf remains for the life not there,
now gone forever from our lives.
Only a memory of what had been
and what had filled so many empty souls.

The stage is bare
and all that remains is a ghost
of what had been.
A haunting memory of someone’s life
before they left the stage of life.
No more now the suffering of mortal pain,
they left with an always-remembered name.
Their star still shines
in all that remember a life that once was.

Read 'em And Weep

Midnight, not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory, she is smiling alone
In the lamplight, the withered leaves, collected my fee
And the wind begins to moan
Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days, it was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again
Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life, and I mustn't give in
When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory, too
And a new day will begin
Burnt out ends of smoky days, the stale cold smell of morning
The street lamp dies, another night is over, another day is dawning
Touch me, it's so easy to leave me, all alone with the memory of my day in the sun
If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is
Look a new day, has begun
Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days, it was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Sack Full Of Stones

(Travis Tritt/Marty Stuart)
I used to be the kind of guy
I could laugh as well as cry
With a heart feather-soft and summer-warm
Since you've left me I've been faced
With emptiness that's been replaced
With a heart that's hard and heavy as a sack full of stones
I never thought I'd ever see
The man my mirror is showing me
Lord I must have aged ten years
Since you've been gone
The longest mile you'll ever crawl
Is the one after you fall
Draggin' around a heart that's heavy as a sack full of stones
With the world upon my shoulders
And my feelings on my sleeve
Every time I close my eyes at night
All I do is watch you leave
But by far the biggest curse of being left alone
Is draggin' around a heart that's heavy as a sack full of stones
Well I tried turning to a bottle
But the bottle turned on me
I've tried everything
But nothing sets your memory free
I'm serving life here in a prison
That we once called a home
With a heart that's cold and heavy as a sack full of stones
With the world upon my shoulders
And my feelings on my sleeve
Every time I close my eyes at night
All I do is watch you leave
But by far the biggest curse of being left alone
Is draggin' around a heart that's heavy as a sack full of stones
Yes by far the biggest curse of being left alone
Is draggin' around a heart that's heavy as a sack full of stones

Draw The Curtain, Turn The Page...Close The Day...

Clear th' Stage
Draw th' Curtain
Down th' Lights
Turn th' page
Close th' Day

Ther' be nothing in this World to help me understand
Some shapes of Life that cast-out imperious shadows

Saw black crows, wings stretched...pointing skyward
Perched upon a gangly autumn tree branch......dying
Seven crow's, alas, but one was just a strange illusion
Leaving six, th' number etched upon Abbadons Beast

Watch a clock upon its wall...moves like snail on sand
Look away to savor life.....Time beats like Arrhythmia

An' what would you like to see in stone as yo'r epitaph
A Poet....A Muse.....or perhaps just a Soul of Gratitude

Then again, all in time...does it really matter any at all
When time does take us all.........to th' very same plane

This Game, this Rubics Cube........of understanding Life
Like a Passion Play with ballerina's...falling to the wood
Dark masques of pale white skin an' pink-lipped frowns
Over flesh........of pale white skin an' pink-lipped frowns

Sometimes our disguised visages, are reflecting mirrors
Yet, in th' end, when time an' we.....have far long passed
What does it matter what masques we wore....in passion

When time it comes, our time...ther' be no time to lobby
for more time to orchestrate a more auspicious outcome

Today should be th' Tomorrow we planned out Yesterday
Lifes' precious, ev'ry moment, still we need to know when

To Clear th' stage
Draw th' curtain
Down th' Lights
Turn th' Page
Close th' Day.

Single Syllable

Single syllable slowly penetrated. Rage
rejection harsh took time to register on brain
tormented, projecting resentment, sad refrain.
Anxieties snowballed. Unwilling to explain,
soul sought safety from public probe hurricane.
Abject private shame stressed search to disengage
from memory-trip, to strip surface masks, rampage
against injustice rank, which stank of inner pain.
Hurt heart hard lesson learned, would never try again
to share where trust betrayed from Time sought time to gain
a valid explanation, plausible, open, plain.
Life’s harsh experience ushered in a new age, -
an age of solitude. Sensitivity, in cage,
hung, drawn and quartered, mind withdrawn from contact vain,
osmosis empty dream, no leeway to obtain,
in limbo felt, could not a fair redressment gain.
Silently tears tumbled. One heard shunned love complain,
despondently to, with, shutters responding, page
helpless to turn, return, to lost oasis, gauge
a way clear from the pain, a way to rise again
unable to refrain from seeking to unchain
concern and anxiousness. Distress welled, swelled the strain,
which bullfrogged, leapfrogged, bloated, could not drain.
Muted echo transmuted from off to center stage,
railed against illusion-responses, mirage reflections sage.
Undigested insult spews out, vents rage,
as single syllable’s sentence remain...

0296 Casting for a new production

The second act went really well tonight,
pity it’s so near the end of the run,
it’s good enough for a West End transfer;
they’re a good bunch when we work together

no thanks, not tonight old man –
got some TV ad lines to learn,
well it’s good money for old rope…
seeyer chizmate

make-up off, stage door chat –
after a good perf., who wants to pub it,
hear yet again about how they triumphed together
in Romeo and Juliet god how many years ago
looking at them now – obscene..

*

When people used to tell me
how old people sat lost to the world
in a golden haze of memory,
I used to think
borING..! not me, not on your life…

but it’s not quite like that:
a touch of unexpected thought
may clothe loved actors in a new-stitched garb –
before you took the stage and they
were cast by you as your supporting roles –

they too were Romeo and Juliet,
throwing the curtains open on their red-eyed dawn…
and you, not even yet the twinkle
in the future’s eye…
they’d played the serving-maid, the page,
the jaunty clown, the flirt, the on-off, bright-eyed savagery -
the toilers in the burning, dusty sun,
the heroes in a life of war and peace,
had hopes you never knew or asked,
and then, invited you to join their cast…

these were such unknown people, just
as unimportant as you are seen as, now…
but loved, by those you never knew or thought of…

now, in your lean and slippered age
you can re-read their lines,
these fellow actors whom you thought
because they loved you, that you were their life…
now, as you re-write the stories of their lives,
cast them as beloved strangers

The Last Time

She walks the wire
Start to ending
But the wheeze is someone else inside her head
She swallowed fire
While pretending
That the flame has long been dead
And now love is just a stranger in her bed
She said this is the last time
I wont be back
Ill take a cab home
Before the second act
This is the last time
Ill turn that page
No more tomorrows
Im full of empty yesterdays
Now cousin sydneys such an outcast
Cause his parents ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
An angry young man is on the warpath
Theres so many things hed change
If only hed been better bet-all tell-all hank
He said this is the last time
I wont be back
Ill take a cab home early
Before the second act
This is the last time
Ill change my ways
No more tomorrows
And the things Id wished Id always changed
In a shiny perfect world
Dashing boy gets girl
Are you one of the lonely ones
Seems I cant remember when
Or just how long its been
Since Ive been waiting for that train that never comes
And we said this is the last time
I wont be back
Ill take a cab home early
Before the second act
This is the last time
Ill turn that page
I left the opening rather early
Before they left the stage
This is the last time
I change my ways
No more tomorrows
Im full of empty yesterdays
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Ooohh

Money, money, money
R: the power age its the new generation
We are the ones with no limitations
We had the iron and the stone
Now we got a new age that we own
But its not about the power that makes you blind
Its all about the the power thats in your mind
This is the time to get the power
The power age, this is the hour
So let the _ take you on _
A: woow...
So release all the pain that stood there before
A: this is the power age
So get with it, oyeah, you belong
Theres only one force that makes you strong
A: oh.. oh...
This is the power age
A: were reaching for the final destination
To break out of the cage
Get in to the power age
With all of the brand new generation
Its time to turn the page
We living in the power age
A: break out of your cage; into the power age
R: the age of destruction, the age of hate
And the age of violence and the ages of late
Greed and gain thats all they care

So get with it feel the vibration
The power age its just a sensation
You can feel it down in your soul
When you let the force take control
So by now you better know the deal
A: woow...
You gotta to get high to get real
A: this is the power age
Free you mind to disgage
Welcome to the power age
A: oh.. oh...
This is the power age
A: were reaching for the final destination
To break out of the cage
Get in to the power age
With all of the brand new generation

To break out of the cage
Get in to the power age
With all of the brand new generation
Its time to turn the page
We living in the power age

Why Did You Leave Me

If only you could see the tears
In the world you left behind
If only you could hear my heart
Just one more time
Even when I close my eyes
There is an image of your face
Once again I come to realize
You have lost that I cant replace
Soul then die
Its keeping for the lonely
Since the day that your were gone
Why did you leave me
Soul then die
In my heart you were the only
And your memory lives on
Why did you leave me
Soul then die
Walking down the streets on nothing will
Where our love was young and free
Cant believe just what an empty place
It has come to be
I would give my life away
If it can only be the safe
Cas I could still the voice inside of me
That is calling out your name
Soul then die
Its keeping for the lonely
Since the day that your were gone
Why did you leave me
Soul then die
In my heart you were the only
And your memory lives on
Why did you leave me
Soul then die
Time will never change the things
That you told me
And after all we mean to be
Love would bring us back to you and me
If only you could see...
Soul then die(soul then die)
Its keeping for the lonely(for the lonely)
Since the day that your were gone
Why did you leave me
Soul then die
In my heart you were the only
And your memory lives on
Why did you leave me
Soul then die...

Catatonica

As our duet of love, a performance shown, is put upon display for vulgar eyes on the floor; the lights change with painted overlooks splashing their palette of watercolours over our moving bodies.

To the beat we dance, our tune a virgin, for the tune's beat that we dance to is no longer a mere dance away, our dance must fly with this tune in time with the tune's beat and in beat with our dance that we synced to this tune.

We tune our bodies in, tune them perfectly together with not just the beat and our dance, but with each other's minds and each other's hearts.

Within our thin, weak, skinny minds our thoughts think their own thoughts, deeper within our thought's tune and beat it dances inside a caved-in thought of the thinking tune's rhythmic beat timing itself to our dance.

Matching in the sky, our steps amaze, no tune can support us on its waves of notes and colons and no beat can out-beat us in it's own tragedy of percussion.

Our dance is a shaman of ritual love, packaged under the moon's eye for all to see and admire in its own tunefully-beating-dancing light.

We are going to dance forever, dance until there's no dance left in us, dance until our blood mixes with each others and our soul's diseases decay with one another's and we become the dance.

The tune we create in our minds is that of purity, no one will hear this tune except for us. Me and You.

The beats will never fade, no stamp stopped too sincerely, no stomp slacking too slowly.

We're going to dance, we're going to dance, we're going to dance. We're going to dance to our own beat, to our own tune, and to our own love.

Nobodys Diary

If I wait for just a second more,
I know Ill forget what I came here for,
My head was so full of things to say,
But as I open my lips all my words slip away
And anyway,
I cant believe you want to turn the page,
And move your life onto another stage,
You can change the chapter you can change the book,
But the story remains the same if youd take a look.
(chorus)
For the times weve had I dont want to be - a page in your diary babe,
For the good, the bad I dont want to see - a page in your diary babe,
For the happy, the sad - I dont want to be another page in your diary.
Perhaps if I held you I could win again,
I could take your hands wed talk and maybe then -
That look in your eyes I always recognise,
Would tell me everything is gonna be fine,
Youre gonna be mine
For a long time...

Still Silently

I see a shadow
shining through the moon
there is a reflection
and it's coming through
I hide my face
a silhourette
in my window
pitcures burning of you

It's just a memory
passing me by
in the midnight sky
after a pouring rain
with troubles I can't forget
still silently
I'll wait one more day

I hear the sound of the wind
howling through the trees
with echoes of your voice
that whisper to me softly
just like jasmine
it was such a sweet smell
but it was just the pain
that took your place
still silently
I had to walk away

Their was a teardrop
that fell from these eyes of mine
as I stood on that montain top
watching ghost dance
off in a distance
as we died
still silently
we had to try

But what would it matter in time
when their was no other choice
I changed every direction
to escape your affection
such an addiction
still silently
I stood alone on this stage

I hear your name
still in the breeze
but I won't be coming home soon
sickened by your disease
turn yet another page
for a new destination
still silently
we feel the same

Birdgirl on a Cell Phone

She has eyes disability blue
A german dog and strict curfew
And if one man's cage is another man's stage
Then she's turned the script to another page
And she doesn't really give a damn
What you have to say
She makes a call on her friends cell phone
The operator answers and says you're not alone
And if one man's ceiling is another's dance floor
Then shell be the one running to the sea shore
Trying to tell the seagulls
This is home
And if one man's cage is another man's stage
Then she'll be the one wiser than her age
Trying to get the message to your ear

A Black Cat Crossed My Path

A black cat crossed my path
On a night of a full moon
He was carrying a pack on his back
And dancing around like a loon.

I thought it was a funny sight
I couldn’t believe my eyes
Then I saw a ghostly cat
In a transparent disguise.

His eyes glowed like fire
In the darkened night
My hands grew cold
I was filled with fright.

Just then the ghostly cat
Found the black cat by a tree
They both did a jig
And started singing merrily.

I was no longer scared
As they danced ‘round and ‘round
It was an unusual scene
And an unusual sound.

They sang Halloween songs
About pumpkins and goblins and bats
And as they sang
Along came about fifty other cats.

They all joined in
The sound grew so loud
But it was a happy sound
From a jolly crowd.

All of the cats were dancing
And having a good time
Then the ghostly cat invited me
To have a bite of a lime.

I told him it would be sour
He said “Well, come dance instead”
So I joined the singing cats
And danced with a cat named Fred.

He moved around quite fast
Hopping left and right
We both danced and danced
Deep into the night.

At last I had enough
I couldn’t dance anymore
So I said good-bye to all the cats
And Fred walked me to my door.

He asked if he could come in
I said “my two cats would probably mind”
So he said “I’ll see you around”
I said “I had a nice time.”

One year went by
Halloween was here again
A black cat crossed my path
I knew the party was about to begin.

Happy Halloween.

Players

The summer leaves in autumn fall
covering grass and garden walls.
A passing page on life’s stage
soon forgotten as the next season calls,
a circling unforgiving tide
that carries with it our passing lives.
Players are we upon the stage
of life’s ever turning page.
We live today and pray for tomorrow
that we may again grace the stage
of its next passing page.
And so life goes on
from birth and beyond
as players on the stage of life.

Dead Memory

Your memory no longer lingers through my life.
You were there once and now your gone.
Your memory has died like a rose when it is cut from the rest of the world.
Your torns no longer cut my heart.
My voice no longer whispers you name,
I no longer look for you in other people in other faces.
I no longer dream of you or wish that I see you once again.
My heart no longer cries or bleeds for you, not no more.
You no longer haunt my dreams or my memories.
I finally found someone that keeps me warm at night,
I finally found someone who has helped me erase your memory.
I no longer fall and stumble but I now walk tall.
Your memory was a weight that I carried through out time
that now I am free.
I can say that I no longer love you, for you are a dead memory

Diggina Ditch

Unto your dreaming,
When youre alone,
Unplug the tv,
Turn off the phone.
Get heavy on with diggin your ditch.
Cause Im digging a ditch,
Where madness gives.
Digging a ditch,
Where silence lives.
Digging a ditch,
For when Im old.
Digging a ditch,
Where stories told.
Where all these troubles,
That weigh down on me will rise,
Unto your dreaming,
When youre alone.
Where all these worries,
That hold heavy on my heart,
Will die, will die, will die...
Unto your dreaming,
When youre alone.
Unplug the tv,
Turn off the phone.
Get heavy on with diggin your ditch.
Cause Im digging a ditch,
Where madness gives.
Digging a ditch,
Where silence lives in here.
Digging a ditch,
And when Im through digging this ditch,
Ill dig in for you.
Where all these disappointments,
That grow angry out of me will die.
Where all these habits,
That hold heavy on my heart will die.
Unto your dreaming, when youre alone,
Not what youre sure be or what youve become,
Just getting heavy on with digging your ditch.
Cause Im digging a ditch,
Where madness gives again.
Im digging a ditch,
Where silence lives.
Where all these troubles that weigh down on me,
Will rise, will rise, will rise, will rise...
Unto your dreaming, when youre alone,
Unplug the tv,
Turn off the phone.
Get heavy on with digging your ditch.
