Design
Day after day, untouched by cloud or shine,
lost crowds crowds jostle underground to seek
some raison d’être through the working week
beneath the surface bustle, engine whine.
For some the day begins when in a line
they stand too long for handouts doled with pique.
For far too few is life triumphant [s]peak
prolonged from birth till death by cheques they sign.
What is the rhyme and reason, the design
behind the moving hand whose meaning’s Greek
to most – a host of phantom [s]wills who cheek
to cheek dare seldom dance, who, herded swine,
spend three score years and ten till end of span,
then fade, forgotten, from life’s caravan.

Irving berlin
Heaven, Im in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When were out together dancing cheek to cheek
Heaven, Im in heaven
And the cares that hung around me through the week
Seem to vanish like a gamblers lucky streak
When were out together dancing cheek to cheek
*:
Oh I love to climb a mountain
And to reach the highest peak
But it doesnt thrill me half as much
As dancing cheek to cheek
Oh I love to go out fishing
In a river or a creek
But I dont enjoy it half as much
As dancing cheek to cheek
**:
Dance with me, I want my arms about you
The charm about you
Will carry me through
To heaven, Im in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When were out together dancing cheek to cheek

Invita Minerva
Not of desire alone is music born,
Not till the Muse wills is our passion crowned;
Unsought she comes; if sought, but seldom found,
Repaying thus our longing with her scorn.
Hence is it poets often are forlorn,
In super-subtle chains of silence bound,
And mid the crowds that compass them around
Still dwell in isolation night and morn,
With knitted brow and cheek all passion-pale
Showing the baffled purpose of the mind.
Hence is it I, that find no prayers avail
To move my Lyric mistress to be kind,
Have stolen away into this leafy dale
Drawn by the flutings of the silvery wind.

Six o'clock in Princes Street
In twos and threes, they have not far to roam,
Crowds that thread eastward, gay of eyes;
Those seek no further than their quiet home,
Wives, walking westward, slow and wise.
Neither should I go fooling over clouds,
Following gleams unsafe, untrue,
And tiring after beauty through star-crowds,
Dared I go side by side with you;
Or be you in the gutter where you stand,
Pale rain-flawed phantom of the place,
With news of all the nations in your hand,
And all their sorrows in your face.

Let Us Go Mad And Be Happy
Let us go mad and we will be happy,
We shall go to the streets and we shall be the lords of the crowds.
Let us go mad but if you all can come along with me.
We are to tell the world what have I once.
In the peak of my sense I told the world
About the rights and the wrongs
But it laughed at me at my very face
And now I am bent upon treading the other path.
Go mad if you wish and dare
You will reap the harvest of laughter
Tell the world in your peak of folly
About the wronged rights and the righted wrongs.
The street is waiting for another spell of utterances
That mark the dawn of civilization unknown hitherto.
Let us go mad and speak out the things
Till the Sun begins to go round the Earth.

A life of 21 years i lived by now

Will i be alive, till i finish this line
Or will i be dead by next dine?
We live life without any worry of death
Spending all our life's time in earning wealth
Till now, I have spend my life getting education.

A Psalm Of Fortitude
Are you, like me, a peevish brat,
With feelings extra-fine?
Are you disposed to whip the cat
When misadventure lays your flat?
Then paste this memo in your hat —
A Man Should Never Whine.
The axiom is no safeguard rare,
Nor talisman divine;
For, deaf to bounce as well as prayer,
Grim Fate will never turn a hair.
But still the principle is there —
A Man Should Never Whine.
When 'Answers' spurns your doggerel lay
(He often baskets mine)
And balks you of renown and pay,
Squirm not, but laugh, and darkly say,
'Ha! tyrant! there will come a day!'
A Bard Should Never Whine.
Should Gladys freeze you from her sight,
Don't languish or repine;
But let her know, in terms polite,
That she has made your future bright;
Then marry Ermyntrude for spite —
A Bloque Should Never Whine.
A killing frost may nip your buds
(There's Wolsey as a sign);
You may forego your stylish duds,
And trade away your pin and studs,
To live on bandicooted spuds;
But you Must Never Whine.
Religiously, your cake is dough —
You haven't walk'd the line.
Peter won't know you from a crow;
So your address must be 'Below,'
Where Socialists and such-like go;
Still You Must Never Whine.
But even should Repentance come,
Don't supplicate and pine.
Seek out the corybantic scrum,
And caper round the mighty drum,
And make Salvation fairly hum —
A Saint Should Never Whine.
Beneath such petty details lies
Calm Nature's great design,
That we on stepping-stones should rise;
And any decent chap who tries
To score some points before he dies
Can Surely Never Whine.
Things standing thus, it is not nice
To rate yourself a swine;
Just let this argument suffice:
An abject whimper cuts no ice,
But only tends to lower your price —
A Man Should Never Whine.

Poem For Sam
'always going, never arriving.'
i've thought about this one
for a while.
and i think there's another step!
the bare limbed tree in winter,
frozen branches, no sign
of life.
and yet beneath the surface,
life is forming, having been lost,
begins again!
perfect stillness.
no need for going,
or arriving ... you're
already there!
all that is life
is present.
what you seek for
you already are!
take off your shoes,
lay down your pack,
and embrace each breath.
the tides come in
and go out.
but the ocean remains!

Rubaiyat of Ghosts
One can, who strangers scan, too few admire,
as most play ghosts deprived of phantom choir,
tripping, tripping up, upon life’s board,
stillborn refuting intimate desire.
In game of give and take what ranks the higher
self-interest or charity? Enquire
about ambitions intimate, bond word,
suspicion from the shadows whispers: 'Liar! '
Most men as puppets dance upon a wire
taut from birth to death, - as seller, buyer,
taught to act and not to BE - Fate’s sword
to dust must sooner, later, each retire.
So few dare seek far stars, less dare aspire
for freedom, seldom search above their mire,
for seventy or eighty years life’s cord
they eke out, seldom seeking something higher.
A burning bush survived the blazing fire,
and witness stands to Time the purifier -
yet oil on troubled waters oft is poured
by those who spurn each prophet as a liar.
Life is too short. Who’d play the poet’s lyre
must tame the vagrant strings, the versifier
tunes into harmony whose every chord
responds to inspiration all desire.

Make It Shine
written by Marv Ross
There's a miracle waiting, there's a ticket worth taking
There's a reason to believe your eyes
An ounce of conviction is the only admission
Yeah, it's risky, but it's worth the ride
And all the dreams that you've held inside
Yes, they're waiting to break out, you just have to try
Make it shine, let your heart beat right in time
Make it shine, lay your whole world on the line
Find a clue and unfold it, shake the dust off and hold it
If it tells you something let me know
So much is forgotten, so much worth unlocking
Won't you tell me how to break the code
And never worry 'bout the things you read
It's so easy to tear down, so hard to believe
Too may dreamers are fading, shine on, shine on, shine
Live -there's a life to live
Give -there's a gift to give
Yes -there's a reason to make it
Shine on and make it true,
Work -make it work for you
Yes -there's a reason to make it shine
Find a secret and learn it, find a key there and turn it
Do whatever you do through the night
A skill in your fingers like a memory lingers
You gotta do it till it comes out right
You never know till you take a chance
If you're out on that wire you might as well dance

You and I Sail The World
You and I sail the world
You and I cross the equator
You and I visit Oceania
You and I discover the ocean
You and I sleep together
You and I rock together
You and I pray together
You and I break bread together
You and I rise together
You and I climb together
You and I dine together
You and I laugh together
You and I lock hands together
You and I cry together
You and I dock together
You and me home together
You and I dance together
You and I embrace life together
You and I grow old together
You and me in line together
You and I sing joy together
You and I celebrate life together
You and me free together
In life and till death do us part
together.
You and I make love together
Over and over again together
New experiences in love making together
Each time you and I gather together
No reason to invent new verbs
No rhyme or reason for old listings
No rhyme or reason for future listings
Did not choose one verb over the other
Or prefer one to another
Or deliberately line them behind each other
Lots of love left in these old worn and tried formats
No need to hip hope our hip hype our lasting love
For our love unchained
Free to wander
Free to adjust
Free to expand
Free to flow
Free to grow
Free just to be
From me to you
And you to me!

Mystiques: Amor Omnia Vincit
He peeks
she physiques
beaut... ekes.
Miss tweaks.
She seeks,
he techniques
boutiques.
They cheek to cheek.
He speaks...
it creaks
her creeks
He streaks,
She shrieks
He peaks.
For weeks
She knows
He sows
She glows,
He flows
She checks,
He checks,
Check-mate sex.
He peeks
She seeks
They cheek to cheek...
She checks his cheques.

A few moments together
Let us spend a few moments together,
the holidays won’t last for ever,
the promises we made to finish up the house chores,
will be our New Year's resolution for the next year.
Let us spend a few moments together,
let us feel each others pains together,
let us look in each others eyes,
let us rediscover the lost love in our hearts.
Let us spend a few moments together,
our long relationship has made our dreams stale,
let us share the soft touch of red roses of our love,
let us walk hand in hand together adoring the surf on the beach.
Let us spend a few moments together,
let us not worry about driving to popular places and beating the crowds,
let us sit close together and look at the stars in night skies,
let us really relive this life together.

Treat Me Rough
When I was born, they found a silver spoon in my mouth
And so I always had the best of care
When winter came up north, of course they motored me south
Where I was princess in our villa there
Tutors and headwaiters fawned on me
Life was just a bore till it dawned on me
The cushy sheltered way of life was really no fun
From now on, some manhandling must be done
So treat me rough
Muss my hair
Dont you dare to handle me with care
Im no innocent child, baby
Keep on treating me wild
Treat me rough
Pinch my cheek
Kiss and hug and squeeze me
'till Im weak
Ive been pampered enough, baby
Keep on treatin me rough
(bridge)
Treat me rough
Pinch my cheek
Kiss and hug and squeeze me
'till Im weak
Ive been pampered enough, baby
Keep on treatin me rough
Keep on beatin me
Keep on treatin me rough

Quart Pot Creek
On an evening ramble lately, as I wandered on sedately,
Linking curious fancies, modern, mediaeval, and antique—
Suddenly the sun descended, and a radiance ruby-splendid,
With the gleam of water blended, thrilled my sensitive physique—
Thrilled me, filled me with emotion to the tips of my physique,
Fired my eye, and flushed my cheek.
Heeding not where I was going, I had wandered, all unknowing,
Where a river gently flowing caught the radiant ruby-streak;
And this new-found stream beguiling my sedateness into smiling,
Set me classically styling it with Latin names and Greek,
Names Idalian and Castalian, such as lovers of the Greek
Roll like quids within their cheek.
On its marge was many a burrow, many a mound, and many a furrow,
Where the fossickers of fortune play at Nature's hide-and-seek;
And instead of bridge to span it, there were stepping-stones of granite,
And where'er the river ran, it seemed of hidden wealth to speak.
Presently my soul grew stronger, and I, too, was fain to speak:—
I assumed a pose plastique.
“Stream,” said I, “I'll celebrate thee! Rhymes and rhythms galore await thee!
In the weekly ‘poet's corner’ I'll a niche for thee bespeak:
But, to aid my lucubration, thou must tell thine appellation,
Tell thy Naiad-designation—for the journal of next week—
Give thy sweet Pactolian title to my poem of next week.
Whisper, whisper it—in Greek!”
But the river gave no token, and the name remained unspoken,
Though I kept apostrophising till my voice became a shriek;—
When there hove in sight the figure of a homeward veering digger,
Looming big, and looming bigger, and ejecting clouds of reek—
In fuliginous advance emitting clouds of noisome reek
From a tube beneath his beak.
“Neighbour mine,” said I, “and miner,”—here I showed a silver shiner—
“For a moment, and for sixpence, take thy pipe from out thy cheek.
This the guerdon of thy fame is; very cheap indeed the same is;
Tell me only what the name is—('tis the stream whereof I speak)—
Name the Naiad-name Pactolian! Digger, I adjure thee, speak!”
Quoth the digger, “Quart Pot Creek.”
Oh, Pol! Edepol! Mecastor! Oh most luckless poetaster!
I went home a trifle faster in a twitter of a pique;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living rhyming being
Ever yet was cursed with seeing, in his poem for the week,
Brook or river made immortal in his poem for the week,
With such name as “Quart Pot Creek!”
* * * * *
But the river, never minding, still is winding, still is winding,
By the gardens where the Mongol tends the cabbage and the leek;
And the ruby radiance nightly touches it with farewell lightly,
But the name sticks to it tightly,—and this sensitive physique,
The already-mentioned (vide supra) sensitive physique,
Shudders still at “Quart Pot Creek!”

Youth and Age
Dance on, dance on, we see, we see
Youth goes, alack, and with it glee,
A boy the old man ne'er can be;
Maternal thirty scarce can find
The sweet sixteen long left behind;
Old folks must toil, and scrape, and strain,
That boys and girls may once again
Be that for them they cannot be,
But which it gives them joy to see,
Youth goes and glee; but not in vain
Young folks if only you remain.
Dance on, dance on, 'tis joy to see;
The dry red leaves on winter's tree,
Can feel the new sap rising free.
On, on, young folks; so you survive,
The dead themselves are still alive;
The blood in dull parental veins
Long numbed, a tingling life regains.
Deep down in earth, the tough old root
Is conscious still of flower and fruit.
Spring goes and glee but were not vain:
In you, young folks, they come again.
Dance on, dance on, we see, we feel;
Wind, wind your waltzes, wind and wheel,
Our senses too with music reel;
Nor let your pairs neglect to fill
The old ancestral scorned quadrille.
Let hand the hand uplifted seek,
And pleasure fly from cheek to cheek;
Love too; but gently, nor astray,
And yet, deluder, yet in play.
Dance on; youth goes: but all's not vain,
Young folks, if only you remain.
Dance on, dance on, 'tis joy to see;
We once were nimble e'en as ye,
And danced to give the oldest glee;
O wherefore add, as we, you too,
Once gone your prime cannot renew;
You too, like us, at last shall stand
To watch and not to join the band,
Content some day (a far-off day)
To your supplanters soft to say,
Youth goes, but goes not all in vain,
Young folks, so only you remain,
Dance on, dance on, 'tis joy to see.

Dance This World Away
Everybody looks so spaced out there
Busy bowing to the priests of noise
Turn it up and make it drown out the warning
Bad news for the girls and boys
Everybody looks so romantic
Acting like its nothing at all
Looking out for number one
Working for the week and living to the beat
Dance this world away
Dance this world away
Dance this world away
Dance this world away
I see people all dressed like nero
Fiddling while rome burns in strife
Personal responsibility zero
Weve lost that rhythm of life
Theres a shadow on our bright horizon
It wont be manna falling out of the sky
The hard rain hits everyone
Working for the week and living to the beat
Dance this world away
Dance this world away
Dance this world away
Dance this world away
Somewhere there is a ship thats sinking
Why do I think that nobody knows
Looking out for number one
Working through the week and dancing to the back beat
Dance this world away
Dance this world away
Dance this world away
Dance this world away

Baby's Age
She came with April blooms and showers;
We count her little life by flowers.
As buds the rose upon her cheek,
We choose a flower for every week.
A week of hyacinths, we say,
And one of heart's-ease, ushered May;
And then because two wishes met
Upon the rose and violet --
I liked the Beauty, Kate, the Nun --
The violet and the rose count one.
A week the apple marked with white;
A week the lily scored in light;
Red poppies closed May's happy moon,
And tulips this blue week in June.
Here end as yet the flowery links;
To-day begins the week of pinks;
But soon -- so grave, and deep, and wise
The meaning grows in Baby's eyes,
So VERY deep for Baby's age --
We think to date a week with sage!

(Blue Collar Poem) A Working Man
A working man does all he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worst
rain or shine
Pay the bills
Feed and cloth the kids
Get in a fight with the wife
And hope she forgives
A working man does all he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worse
Rain or shine
Go to the park
A day off
You feel so lost
How much will this cost
A working man does the best he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worse
Rain or shine
Driving so fast
Your late
Hoping you don't get fired
Down to the wire
A working man does all he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worse
Rain or shine
Another fight
Give her some roses
Say your sorry, and mean it.
Next thing you know
Your both removing all your cloths
A working man does all he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worse
Rain or shine
Its still mine till the day I die
