A Fire-Sided T.V. Chat By A Farsighted G E Chap
When Giscard greeted France last night
regretfully he threw no light
on how his Party could prevent
a rise in unemployed, jobs spent.
He helped the agèd with their rent
and soon will raise short-time payment, -
inflation rate, infamous blight,
he feels a downturn is in/sight.
To the peasant he was pleasant,
each is sent a present present.
Twelve hundred francs, and as I write,
so as to increase their delight,
a kine allowance not so slight,
lest they in vengeance vent their spite.
The aim it is in this event
to up their income twelve percent.
At T.V. chat he did appear,
our Lord and leader, loud and clear.
He claims, as ‘twere his property,
the Centre Point of polity,
and adds that ‘tis two years since he
(the future able to foresee)
had prophesied this policy.
The ship of State he’s set to steer
through “controlled change”, so have no fear.
In social change, explicitly,
festina lente! - prudently,
and hear and run the race thats here -
so many Frenchmen far and near -
he hopes his Party will adhere,
and cheer not jeer, endear not sneer.
There’s every possibility
he won’t succeed, unfortunately!

An Unresolved New Year
At the hour of twelve on New Years Eve
When the old year turns into the new
Thoughts turn to what the future holds
And what goals we should pursue.
At the hour of nine on New Years Day
Or some time thereabouts
We wake with great reluctance and
Those resolutions start to doubt.
At the hour of ten on New Years Day
When we start to feel our age
By then we've written lists of things
That will benefit through change.
At the hour of twelve on New Years Day
When things start getting clear
We find we've hid that list away
To return to in one year.

Where's The Party
Where's the party (party, party)
Where's the party (party, party)
Show me the way, show me the way
It's like a holiday
That happens everyday
I get to celebrate
No matter what you say
When I get real bored
I want something more
I never lose my head
Cause I know the score
Show me the way
Show me the way
C'mon, show me the way
Where's the party?
All I Wanna do is have some fun
Where's the party?
Party all night 'til I can't go on
Where's the party?
All I Wanna do is have some fun
Where's the party?
Show me the way, show me the way
One thing I know
Is when I feel low
I never have to worry
Got a place to party
no one's getting mean
It's so obscene
No matter what goes down
I just get what I need
Show me the way
Show me the way
C'mon, show me the way
Where's the party?
All I Wanna do is have some fun
Where's the party?
Party all night 'til I can't go on
Where's the party?
All I Wanna do is have some fun
Where's the party?
Show me the way, show me the way
Where's the party, where's the party
party, party, party, party, party, party, party, party
p-p-p-party
Show me the way
Show me the way
C'mon, show me the way
Where's the party?
All I Wanna do is have some fun
Where's the party?
Party all night 'til I can't go on
Where's the party?
All I Wanna do is have some fun
Where's the party?
Show me the way, show me the way
Show me the way, if you show me the way
C'mon show me the way
Where's the party?
All I Wanna do is have some fun
Where's the party?
Party all night 'til I can't go on
Where's the party?
All I Wanna do is have some fun
Where's the party?
Show me the way, show me the way

Change in Me
Why I need change?
for better or for the worst?
Any choices to change or not?
I need change when
There is an opportunity to grow and mature
Things being done the wrong way
Dealing with a world of change
I rediscover change
Change is the law of life
Those who look only
to the past or the present
Are certain to miss the future
I may change anything I want or don't want
But I can't change everything I want
My dilemma is
I hate change and
love it at the same time
Best of all
What I want is
For things to remain the same
but get better.
Lastly,
I need strong courage to change,
To master change;
Be the master of change.
Always I want change,
To get where I want to be,
Be the change I want to have.

Party All Night
Hang loose
Party
Got my head to the grindstone
I'm trying to act like a fool
My head is a lampshade
They can't find me at school
Well I'm an animal
Yes I'm a cannonball
They say I'm out for blood
One thing I wanna do is
Party all night (Oh-oh!)
Party all night (Oh-oh-oh!)
Party all night (Yeah!)
All night long
Driving right way on the wrong side
A bit too much to drink
Women in the backseat
And they don't know what to think
They say I've lost my head
You'll probably end up dead
But they're too blind to see
What's a party to me, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Is to party all night (Oh-oh!)
Let's party all night (Oh-oh-oh!)
Party all night (Yeah!)
All night long
Uh!
Let's have a good time, good time
C'mon
Everybody's parties
I'm on a one way cruise
Lookin' for trouble
We got nothing to lose
They're on the telephone
They're trying to send me home
We're gonna pull the plug
We've got a new kind of school
Let's party all night
Let's party all night
Party all night
Let's party all night
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Let's party all night (Oh!)
(We're party animals, baby)
Let's party all night (Oh-oh-oh!)
(We've got nothing to lose)
Let's party all night
All night long, yeah!
Let's party all night
Let's party boys

I Went In Search Of My Lost Self
I WENT IN SEARCH OF MY LOST SELF
I went in search of my lost self-
I came across piles of old manuscripts
Stories of my mind long since forgotten-
I was happy at first to see them
I greeted them like old friends with warm eyes
But concealed, they came with a clear demand
For more and more of my time-
Would I give it?
Or would I sacrifice one part of myself for another?
Would I say as I had so often ‘only the present and future self is real'?
Or would I try to meet and know them and somehow save them as myself again?
I do not know
I write this poem too as my real self is somewhere just beyond the now -
In the present in the future where my hands are now typing-

Pre-electoral Preoccupations 0128
Electors, ever insincere,
provide polite applause,
of Mitterand they know no fear,
he's still to show them cause.
ere long they'll stall, or jeer, not cheer,
unless vote reassures.
Here socialistic cats appear
with communistic claws;
they pause, although with purpose clear,
steel glows through velvet paws.
They're posed to pounce, the vote draws near,
no reason here to pause.
Should they past policies adhere
and pass their Program's laws,
then much that democrats hold dear
could fall behind closed doors.
So farewell France, elsewhere I'll steer,
towards old Blighty's shores.

{A Wind of Change} (song lyrics)
A wind of change is coming.
This has been foreseen.
A wind of change is coming.
Soon it will be seen.
For if men are men,
and not mer mice.
Will stand our ground,
in this noble fight.
March around with flags held high.
Embrace the change
as it roles on by.
Won't stop it,
can't stop us.
You're eyes closed.
We see light.
A wind of change is coming.
As we steady on.
A wind of change is coming.
To this we will belong.
Can't kick us down,
can't pick a fight.
Will hold our own,
with all our might.
Where here where there
where every where.
Strengthened by the change,
nothing can compare.
Not alone,
change is life.
You lecture,
now we strike.
A wind of change is coming.
Clouds begin to clear.
A wind of change is coming.
Much like a snarling steer.
This noble fight,
now seems so right.
We've tested time,
and persevered.
Though hated, shunned,
and held in fear.
Carpe Diem is what will cheer.
It is time,
we won't die.
It's our right,
to live life.

Rage
(l. lovich)
Lets face the music - I think that its time.
Whats the use, when the future looks so unkind.
Life and death - the choice we make.
Revolution - the line in my mind takes.
Win or lose, hey! what do you say.
Got to change, change, change, change.
Check it out and see - there could be a better lifestyle.
My hopes are big as the sky,
My dreams are wider than wide.
One day well be absolutely crueltyfree!
Rage!
March on! unleash the spirit,
Rise above all fear, into the light.
Its a world affair - dont waste a minute,
Let the heart decide, its time to care.
What is this sad fascination,
To rip off anothers skin.
Shame! shame! shame!
Fancy people in furcoat - what a pitiful sight.
Leather is dead - its not so nice.
Rage!
March on! unleash the spirit,
Rise above all fear, into the light.
Its a world affair - dont waste a minute,
Let the heart decide, its time to care.
Stop! think! before you chew.
Dont eat a creature, that wont eat you.
Food for everyone,
Lets all eat - its so much fun.
Let that chicken be! a cow is not a factory!
Fast food slaughter - a criminal waste.
Weve got to tune ourselves into a new morality.
Make some improvement on the human race.
Rage, each time I turn around.
Rage, it tears my heart apart.
Rage, each time I see the blood.
Hey, now! sentimental feelings are just not good enough.
March on! unleash the spirit,
Rise above all fear, its time to care.
March on! unleash the spirit,
Rise above all fear, into the light.
Its a world affair - dont waste a minute,
Let the heart decide, its time to care.
March on! unleash the spirit,
Rise above all fear, its time to care.

O Ship of State
Thou, too, sail on, O Ship of State!
Sail on, O Union, strong and great!
Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
Is hanging breathless on thy fate!
We know what Master laid thy keel,
What Workmen wrought thy ribs of steel,
Who made each mast, and sail, and rope,
What anvils rang, what hammers beat,
In what a forge and what a heat
Were shaped the anchors of thy hope!
Fear not each sudden sound and shock,
'Tis of the wave and not the rock;
'Tis but the flapping of the sail,
And not a rent made by the gale!
In spite of rock and tempest's roar,
In spite of false lights on the shore,
Sail on, nor fear to breast the sea!
Our hearts, our hopes, are all with thee.
Our hearts, our hopes, our prayers, our tears,
Our faith triumphant o'er our fears,
Are all with thee, -are all with thee!

Crushed By The Wheels Of Industry
Call me in the morning just before the breakfast show
Well watch tv and analyse the weather
Before we go to work well have planned the day ahead
Well while away the working day together
Work all day or work all night its all the same
If you want to play
Some are nurses
Some steal purses
Some are workers
Some are not
It is time for a party
Liberation for the nation now!
Crushed by the wheels of industry
Theres a party going on thats going to change the way we live
But how do we know weve even been invited
Now the invitations waiting and the table is reserved
So just play it cool and dont get excited
Work all day or work all night its all the same
Will we ever change
Its vocation or vacation
Some are workers
Some are not
It is time for a party
Syncopation for the nation now
Crushed by the wheels of industry
Breaking in the future just before the week is up
They can do it but its going to take some money
Have what you desire if and when you see the fact
They will lead us to the land of milk and honey
Work all day or work all night its all the same
If you want the pay
Some drive tankers
Some are bankers
Some are workers
Some are not
It is time for a party
Liberation for the nation now!

Before Execution.
The sun is set, and all the stars are come,
Stars I shall no more see; the air is still,
And my life waits the ruin so near now.
A little space, and I shall have done here.
Ah, God! twelve hours, twelve little hours, and, lo!
The air and these lips part, day becomes night,
Earth nothing, time a skeleton, and I
An angry ghost, or a tired phantom laid
With many others in oblivion.
Twelve hours, twelve little hours, and I shall have
A wondrous change — feel one fierce pang, and then
Fade off I know not where, or like a star
Shot fearfully from the zenith singe my way
Through chaos haply for some aeons till
I reach another air, a lower sky,
And maybe with a baleful influence
Burn in Pluto's reign.

Epiphany
January 6 is coming up –
end of the ‘twelve days of Christmas’:
scrape up the Christmas cards –careful
to note addresses where they’ve changed, and
the people who sent to you this year, when
you didn’t send to them..
out with the tree before
it sheds any more needles,
box the decorations into the loft;
yet not an end, but a beginning,
as Eliot might have put it; a cold coming they’re having of it;
they’re still some days away,
the way harsh; the land, strange;
the camels finding harder tread than sand..
for devotees and followers in their footsteps
we’re curiously incurious about that myth
we love to love – is it because
we fear to look too close?
Twelve days they took, measured by the star;
men of wisdom seeking for the birth of some greater love;
what then was needful? Did it need
twelve days, perhaps, for that babe to adjust
to earth – as if from some divine ‘entry burns’?
Or twelve days for his mother to adjust
to heaven in person present?
And what meanwhile, did the shepherds do?
Even if they were nomads, they could not have been
many Palestinian hills away? Or were they asking round
the inns and stables for some strange event
which they would only understand
when they chanced upon it?
Twelve days for the stabled animals
and a family which evidently did not rise
on the local council’s temporary housing list,
to get to know each other (and we are to assume
they must have popped out at some stage, to enrol…) :
Epiphany: the ‘showing-forth’;
today we’d call it
a media opportunity.
No photoflash, recording gear, among the hay and straw;
just stillness, silence, a baby’s smile; homage unrehearsed;
was there more movement than the old masters portray in paint?
what words were said – for surely there were words?
What light, though, shines, like infra-red,
what songs are sung, like ultrasound,
what magnet draws the iron aged hearts of all:
wisdom, a stable, cattle, a new-born, love.

In Uncertain Times
With a heavy heart I’ve implored, help and direction from my Lord,
In this present time, very dark ahead, I look unto The Lord instead,
With so much present uncertainty, the future is not so clear to me,
So my God’s favor I will entreat, as His Love and Mercy is replete.
For me, it’s God who will provide, while in God’s Grace I do abide,
Grace sufficient for all His own, guiding believers from His Throne,
Always, our Lord, Christ Jesus, is the One, Who sustains all of us,
For God’s honor and His praise, as He leads us through our days.
These days, faith in Christ is a must, when in God I place my trust,
Who alone has the perfect plan, for each and every believing man;
His plan for me may not be clear, but as God’s child I needn’t fear,
As God’s plan is to prosper me, in ways, today that I may not see.
About those things I don’t know, to The Lord, my thoughts will go,
Reminding me of days gone by, when Christ led me from on High,
Through those times, dark as night, with God’s Word, as my Light,
Remembering times of the past, my present cares, to God I’ll cast.
And so with Him, Who changes not, God alone, Who casts my lot,
While on this path, I must take, I know, my God makes no mistake,
So I look not to man, but to Christ, Who is the Author of all my life,
And knowing Christ as my Lord, my heart, once again is reassured.
