thick incense fume
trails by smiling gods
devotees' faith
stamped in the deities'
soot-covered faces

The God-man
The horror of partition
The holocaust of maddling crowds
Still haunts from his childhood
To this age where he adorned
The mantle of a priest
Of an alien faith
As the faithful fled
And abandoned their Gods
As the pointed dagger
Of the perpetrators
Gave option to leave
The near and dear.
The ten hundred years old temple
The abode of Gods and their better halves
Left unfed and unattended
Left without an 'Aartis'
And the mountain ranges
Hovering the clear lake
That looks beautiful on starry nights
Looked desperate for left
Without the din of crowding devotees
Sighed in deep despair.
But Guhulaam Hassan dared
The gun points of the fanatics
He could sense and feel
That Allah will never try him
To protect the faith of brothers
Of faith alien to his faith
As Allah preach and practice
The peace, love and brotherhood.
He entered the abode of God
He offered the 'Aartis'
He tolled the bells
In the dawn and dusk
Invoking the heavenly spirits
And he found 'Allah' smiling
'Allah' blessing him
As he obeyed his omnipotence
And he enjoyed his omnipresence!

Three Palinodias - 01
"Incense is hut a tribute for the gods,--
To mortals 'tis but poison."
THE smoke that from thine altar blows,
Can it the gods offend?
For I observe thou hold'st thy nose--
Pray what does this portend?
Mankind deem incense to excel
Each other earthly thing,
So he that cannot bear its smell,
No incense e'er should bring.
With unmoved face by thee at least
To dolls is homage given;
If not obstructed by the priest,
The scent mounts up to heaven.

Wintery Nature
WINTERY NATURE
MR. Vavroo vahana patra
Slivery haze, as white clouds, sails over the Earth;
Poets enjoy the wintery beauty of nature with mirth.
The beauty of roses does not display itself gaudily;
Sunrays fall on them slowly and gradually.
The Sun eventually smiles in the eastern horizon;
Alluring, attracting, enticing is God’s creation!
Man marvels as starts Nature’s beautification;
God’s bliss streams on it with His benediction.
Nature, with her eternal beauty, fills with delight;
Poets’, devotees’ and chaste women’s minds aright.
As sunrays kiss the soft petals of roses so coy,
Poets are enchanted and their beauty heartily enjoy.
Deity of deities Lord Shiva blesses the devotees gracefully
As the serene shrine dazzles with the sunrays gaily.
Beautiful indeed looks now the wintery dawn
And devotees meditate in silence in the quiet morn.
As Mother’s temple too glitters with the sunbeam,
Devotees drink the nectar of love from Her Love’s stream.
