Scarecrow
Scarecrow
A symbol for Asia
All over the fields
In this vast continent
In all shapes and poses
Guarding the staples
Turning away pests
Day in and day out
Blown by the wind
Blast by the rain
With not even a single sigh
Though the birds flutter umpteenth times
Twittering hymns of impatience
The straw men with their arms
Twisting and waving are seen
Quietly doing their job
Asians' best friends
Forever loyal
Chasing away predators
Parasites.....
Asian best armies,
Will they ever come alive?

The Early Spring (Rondel Prime)
The early spring brings new flowers again
while twittering birds fly past in a flock,
at the sight of humans cry in amok,
hide in their nests in the seeping cold rain,
while on the road daily joggers do train,
timing themselves with the far off clock.
The early spring brings new flowers again
while twittering birds fly past in a flock,
some on the ground peck and cry out in pain,
others flutter above ships in the dock
while the big waves does them up and down rock
while the spray, rust and salt marks does decks stain.
The early spring brings new flowers again
while twittering birds fly past in a flock.

Twisting
She set your goldfish free
And now shes sighing
Blew out your pilot light
And made a wish
She doesnt have to have
Her dbs record back now
But theres not a lot of things
That shell take back
(she wants) she wants to see you again
(she wants) she wants to see you again
Slowly twisting (twisting)
In the wind (twisting)
Twisting twisting (twisting)
In the wind
Shes not your satellite
She doesnt miss you
So turn off your smoke machine
And marshall stack
She doesnt have to have
Her young fresh fellows tape back now
But theres not a lot of things
That shell take back
(she wants) she wants to see you again
(she wants) she wants to see you again
Slowly twisting (twisting)
In the wind (twisting)
Twisting twisting (twisting)
In the wind

Rain On A Scarecrow
Scarecrow on a wooden cross Blackbird in the barn
Four hundred empty acres that used to be my farm
I grew up like my daddy did My grandpa cleared this land
When I was five I walked the fence while grandpa held my hand
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation This land made me proud
And Son I'm just sorry there's no legacy for you now
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
The crops we grew last summer weren't enough to pay the loans
Couldn't buy the seed to plant this spring and the Farmers Bank foreclosed
Called my old friend Schepman up to auction off the land
He said John it's just my job and I hope you understand
Hey calling it your job ol' hoss sure don't make it right
But if you want me to I'll say a prayer for your soul tonight
And grandma's on the front porch swing with a Bible in her hand
Sometimes I hear her singing "Take me to the Promised Land"
When you take away a man's dignity he can't work his fields and cows
There'll be blood on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Blood on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Well there's ninety-seven crosses planted in the courthouse yard
Ninety-seven families who lost ninety-seven farms
I think about my grandpa and my neighbors and my name
And some nights I feel like dyin' Like that scarecrow in the rain
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation This land made me proud
And Son I'm just sorry they're just memories for you now
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow

Just Grass
THE ROOTLESS GRASS
There’s no soil to settle
nor the water to drink
nor the air to breath
for the times you roam
in the continent of passion and despair
You are the dust of the road
a sigh of the passage
being blown up by the soundless wind
of indifference
You fall down to a shore
where the unknown gathers and departs
towards the horizon
of sinful hope
(Tadanori Tanigawa)
O outward stranger, you are part of all
Why are you heedless of all?
o part come!
do not be heedless of the whole
become aware and come to know all
(Shams al-Din Tabrizi)
In the continent of passion and despair
being blown up by the soundless wind
where the unknown gathers and departs
O outward stranger, you are part of all
(Yahya)

The Scarecrow
Unblinking eyes always watching, always searching, never seeing,
Stoic man of straw guards the crops, never jumps and never hops,
Black birds of opportunity seek to doom this friendly community,
Menace of flight prey on corn, the village without will forever mourn,
Absent of straw they would all die, if not for this man who never lies,
He cannot fly, he cannot speak, without his presence the crows havoc would wreak,
His job is thankless, he is not paid, without jest he is portrayed,
He will not quit, he will not sway, the flying apparitions will lose this day,
Though he cannot speak or ever murmur, he watches as the crow gather, ready to murder,
Man of straw ready to fight, every day and every night, he fights for life,
He braces for the end and thinks of his friends,
The black cloud of death draws ever near and the scarecrow never shows fear,
All moments of carnage and chaos must come to an end, even if the Strawman must die for his friends,
For his death he is always ready, blood never pumping, for he's brain-dead already,
To be alive is not bleeding nor breathing, but living with a meaning,
The Strawman's will is strong and true, he will stand tall no matter what they do,
His friends in danger and doomed to die, more time is all he can buy,
Masks of fright they all wear, a fight to the death is never fair, masks of death everywhere,
As death from above comes ever near, all he can do is watch them with a smile and a sneer,
If time for his friends is all he can buy, then today is a good day to die.

Scarecrow
Staring in the face of condemnation
Laughter fills the sky instead of rain
Live my life alone in resignation
Arms outstretched for those who cannot see
Scarecrow
Crucified and left in isolation
Pictures of our lost morality
Scarecrow
Eyeless stares invite this whole damnation
Rotting corpse of inhumanity
Scarecrow

Betrayal at the Worst of Times Needs No Remorse!
A flock of sparrows were twittering
in the branches of the Neem trees.
The cold breeze from the rain-fed tank
was rustling the leaves, embracing
and solacing my body bereft of sleep.
The waves from the watery expanse,
dashing and breaking on the bank
were making regular clapping sounds.
The green paddy crops in the vast stretch of fields
were waving and dancing in the blowing wind.
The bees were straining droning sounds
and the butterflies were sailing over me.
The flowers of wild plants on the slopes of the bank
were flaming in the hot summer.
I was lying on the bank in the shades of the trees,
with my mind roaming around her
and my eyes staring at the sky above.
For betraying me at the worst of times,
she conveyed to me her words of regret,
and wanted to see me once,
to weep out her sinking grief.
But I didn't get a chance to look at that rueful face
and from my heart I couldn't also erase it out.

Mantis Oh! Green Mantis....
Mantis Oh! green mantis
Have you ever seen ants?
Yes, I have seen armies, on march in the fields
Carrying food to stores
But I do always keep away
Or I would also be carried away!
Mantis Oh! green mantis
Have you ever seen antlions?
Yes I have seen many, lurking in their pits
Throwing up sand at times
But I do always keep away
Or I would also be thrown sand anyway!
Mantis Oh! green mantis
Have you ever seen elephants?
Yes, I have seen herds, nibbling in the woods
Blowing nose at times
But I do always keep away
Or I would also be blown off anyway!
Mantis Oh! green mantis
Have you ever seen us babes?
Yes, I have seen groups, of you naughty kids
Chasing butterflies
But I do always keep away
Or I would also be chased away!

Youll Be The Scarecrow
One day Ill have to fly
To the next great unknown
One day Ill be outta here
Back on my own
And when I come around for my goodbye
Youll be the scarecrow
Youll be the scarecrow
The one I adore
The one Ill cary with me
Forever more
You were the special one
Something we shared
The one that Ill miss the most
The one that cared
So when I come around for my goodbyes
Youll be the scarecrow
Youll be the scarecrow
The one I adore
The one Ill cary with me
Forever more
There may not be a day
For a dou reunion
There may not be a day
For us
One day youll look and see
A purple sunset
And then youll know that Im ok
Im doing my best
And when I come around for my goodbye
Youll be the scarecrow
Youll be the scarecrow
The one I adore
Youll be the scarecrow
The one I miss most
And when I come around for my goodbye
Youll be the scarecrow

A Death-Parting
LEAVES and rain and the days of the year,
(Water-willow and wellaway,)
All these fall, and my soul gives ear,
And she is hence who once was here.
(With a wind blown night and day.)
Ah! but now, for a secret sign,
(The willow's wan and the water white,)
In the held breath of the day's decline
Her very face seemed pressed to mine.
(With a wind blown day and night.)
O love, of my death my life is fain;
(The willows wave on the water-way,)
Your cheek and mine are cold in the rain,
But warm they'll be when we meet again.
(With a wind blown night and day.)
Mists are heaved and cover the sky;
(The willows wail in the waning light,)
O loose your lips, leave space for a sigh,—
They seal my soul, I cannot die.
(With a wind blown day and night.)
Leaves and rain and the days of the year,
(Water-willow and wellaway,)
All still fall, and I still give ear,
And she is hence, and I am here.
(With a wind blown night and day.)

Poem about Poetry - Teaching me Poetry
teaching
me poetry
the overturned
seashell
its legs
scratching
the breeze
the upturned
horn beetle
its hard jointed legs
waving to me
on the floor at morn
the sprightly
little boy
running at noon
to get shadow
chasing him
full moon festivals
the full moon
smiling, twisting
on the sea
the eagles
proudly swiftly
measuring
his territory
his giant wings
span the sky
the newborn
twisting, lipping
lipsing words
in the wooden cradle
flock of burong pipit
bobing up, down
up, down
over the field
a chirp followed
by a flurry of chirps
at first light
the new neighbour's laundry
so many different shapes
and shades

Scarecrow People
Hope you enjoyed your flight,
In one of our new straw aeroplanes,
Youll find things here are just like what youre used to.
Theres lots of waste and razor wire,
And no one gives a damn about the land,
We just stand around and stare like you folks do.
For we aint got no brains,
And we aint got no hearts,
Its just that wild old wind that tears us all apart.
Were the scarecrow people,
Have we got lots in common with you.
And if you dont start living well,
Youre all gonna wind up scarecrow people too.
Hope you enjoyed your meal,
Its only gas and chemicals,
We thought that youd prefer something not nature made.
Now while youre here can you advise us,
On a war wed like to start,
Against some scarecrows over there, a different shade?
For we aint got no brains,
And we aint got no hearts,
Its just that wild old wind that tears us all apart.
Were the scarecrow people,
Have we got lots in common with you.
And if you dont start living well,
Youre all gonna wind up scarecrow people too.
We dont have no tears here,
No one hopes or cares or fears here,
For the old, the sick, the poor and them what taint you.
We thought wed base our civilization upon yours,
cause youre the smartest animals on earth, now aint you?
We dont have no love here,
Theres no need to rise above here,
No one wants to write a book or try to paint thee.
We thought wed base our civilization upon yours,
cause were all dead from our necks up, now aint we?
And we aint got no brains,
And we aint got no hearts,
Its just that wild old wind that tears us all apart.
Were the scarecrow people,
Have we got lots in common with you.
And if you dont start living well,
Youre all gonna wind up scarecrow people too.
And I aint got no brains,
And I aint got no heart,
Its just them other humans tear my soul apart.
Im a scarecrow person,
Have I got quite some message for you.
For if we dont start learning well,
Were all gonna wind up scarecrow people too!

The Scarecrow
The black and green scarecrow as everyone knows
Stood with a bird on his hat and straw everywhere.
He didnt care.
He stood in a field where barley grows.
His head did no thinking
His arms didnt move except when the wind cut up
Rough and mice ran around on the ground
He stood in a field where barley grows.
The black and green scarecrow is sadder than me
But now hes resigned to his fate
cause lifes not unkind - he doesnt mind.
He stood in a field where barley grows.

Warm Rain Showers
The rain seems to come
at the right time when the day
is cool, the wind is clam
and the rain is gentle
when touching the soft skin of your arms
Catching the first dropp of rain
on your nose while
twisting yourself into a circle
as the rest of the rain
starts to flow down onto the grass
Dancing, singing, a nd playing
in the rain whren nothing
else seems to matter
Taking in the sweet, clean air
of the nature around you
never wanting it to go away

The Ineffective Scarecrow
Perhaps he is sick of being a scarecrow
As I sometimes ache to be anything other than me
Now that I'm all dried up, like a squeezed orange
Like a swan on tenterhooks
Treading a path between broken dreams and ashes
The scarecrow wants to go back to being a stick
No more predators, loneliness, crows
With their constant cawing
He is sick of being a warning in the wind
He is sick of being one foot stuck in the dark
He dreams of being a spoke in St. Catherine's wheel
A moment of burning glory, then adieu
Of being a broom in Hitler's final bunker
Sweeping aside the bullets and swastikas

Sometimes In Your Sadness
sometimes in your sadness
the flying sparrows of the fields
are nothing but dry leaves blown by a
very dry wind towards the mountains
in your sorrow the roses blooming
along your paths become nothing but
lumps of mud sticking to their thorny branches
and the leaves are but trash paper
bound for some burning turning to ash
sometimes in your long mourning
you do not see the shining stars
and you wish that the moon and sun
may altogether stop making the nights and days.
you wish total darkness. You like that
everything becomes mute and blind and deaf.
Your friends and those who love you have
became straw men on the rice fields. They
have become to you utterly useless.
Just because the person you love had perished.
Everything has become useless.
The world looks at you and asks: Is there only one
person who is lovable that all those creatures
around you become nothing?
The world understands and mourns with you
only for a while. They have counted the time. They have
waited for so long. They cannot endure sorrow. They
have all other beautiful things to enjoy, joys to savor.
They are impatient now. Sorrow has a beginning. It has
also an end. Sadness cannot be forever. There is no such
thing as overwhelming sorrow.
Now they have contempt for you. The length of your sadness
has exceeded the limits that they have set. The boundaries
of joy, and bliss and happiness have been encroached.
Look over there. There is happiness waiting. There is dancing
over the other fence. They are waiting for you.
Do not frustrate them. They have mourned with you.
And it is over. Now you have to be with them too.
They love life. They like to sing. They like to jump with joy.
Now that you have come back to your senses.
Sadness is over. Let us begin the first step to happiness.

A Proud Scarecrow
An old scarecrow stood with his arms akimbo,
Thinking his dull life was now in limbo,
He somehow, never seemed to scare the crows,
He had tried hard enough, heaven knows.
His coat was torn and there were many more
Holes, where the crows had searched for straw.
His hat was looking limp and out of shape,
His shirt in the front, had begun to gape.
A fieldmouse had nested inside his sleeve,
Even though he had asked it nicely, to leave.
Then sadly the whole family had all moved in,
And created each night, such an awful din.
That poor old scarecrow could get no sleep,
It made him sad, and it made him weep,
He considered it constantly, in his turnip head,
Actually that old scarecrow, was quite well read.
Then one day he found he was being moved,
Into a very large building, it was proved,
A place where important things can be found,
Where people stand and admire, and look around.
A Museum that's dedicated to our Country Art,
And a scarecrow his age, just had to be part
Of this collection, that was here for all to view,
An exhibit that stated that 'he' was 'New'.
In all his tatters, he stood straight and tall,
Not minding all the stares, no, not at all,
For this new life he felt, just couldn't be beat,
Now he's a proud scarecrow, feeling so complete.
