Challenge
the white paper
a dot he made
it pulls the mind in
like the man's character -
giving the brain
a challenge
formidable as the
stars, each twinkling
in the dark night

A tribute to Dad
written for dad of Sven-Eric van Osch
whose dad passed away last night.
the night is dark but
there are the little stars up there
sparkling and twinkling
there you say you will be
when you are gone
when the sun sets and
my mind wanders to you
they show me the world
has a life even in the dark
even when you are gone
look at how the stars twinkle
and wave to us tonight
they remind me of you dad
that you will be crowning
the sky of our heart day or night
always in your own little way
that endears you to us
now and forever

Twighlight
The moon is shining bright up above us all
my new moon looks after me protects me
I look up at the stars when twilight comes
shooting stars fly past me twinkling in my eyes
i see the reflection of the moon in the dark dark sea
the gravity of the moon pulls the sea making the waves
that go in and out in and out
i see something a female form splashing in the sea as she gets nearer to my astonishment and surprise its a mermaid swimming over to me

Stars in the night
Stars in the night,
Shining so bright,
Accompanying a moon,
Which always seems so alone,
Why can't we be like that,
And cut the cobwebs that,
Weakens the human bond,
Makes us feel alone is strong,
Arrogance and ego,
Negligence or so,
Are the cobwebs around,
Pathetic as they sound,
But this true,
For all of us,
We follow them all,
No matter dawn or dusk,
We join the stars,
With imaginary lines,
But can’t join our hearts,
With emotional signs,
A shooting star naturally leaves the sky,
Saying goodbye to all,
And fulfilling our wishes nice,
But we forcefully kick out our stars,
Our Mom and Dad,
Out of the house,
‘Coz spending few bucks on them,
Seems too bad,
We even make our friends,
Using our brain and not heart,
Don’t even mind breaking relationships,
For our good sake and part,
We see the sun,
Giving moon it’s light,
So that we see in the dark,
And moon looks beautiful and bright,
But this way,
We’ll never be,
‘Coz we kick a man downstairs,
So that “he’ll never be as high as me”,
We also grab somebody’s light,
So that we can shine more bright,
And give others darkness of failure,
‘Coz, for us,
Hard work was never an option better,
We see the moon in the dark night,
But never see the reasons behind its beauty and light,
The stars make it look flawlessly white,
‘Coz even it has holes,
If you have a close sight,
So promise yourself to be like these stars,
The sun,
Always helping others to stand,
And even making your own position,
Behave like human,
And not machines,
Make connections with heart and not brain,
And understand each other’s feelings….

The Night Sky
Night sky, Night sky
Twinkling stars near by
White moon, white moon
You light up the night in full bloom
The night in display
Watching this sky play
Hiding behind the clouds
Are these silvery bright stars
Ready in action
The sky a distraction
Sweet kiss from these tender lips
And the feeling of love at my finger tips

My Father’s Son
Once
when I was still a baby boy
obsessed, thrilled with dark night sky
father said, shut your eyes tightly
then sailed I into dark night sky
dreaming of my arms
dipping in deep, dark-blue velvety
palpating golden sheen of the golden full moon
snatching twinkling stars.
But
i fell like lead
just before hard ground
to my father’s arms- veinated, calloused
his chirped nails safely grabbed
then
i opened my eyes
stretching my empty arms, pink nails
for a earnest glimpse of
a dip of deep, dark-blue velvety
golden sheen of the golden full moon
snatched twinkling stars.
and I felt sad.
Then-
father buried his head on my nape
his grizzly beard tickling my face
making little ‘blurp’ ‘blurp’ sounds
my shrill laughter
accosting his deep throaty laughter
echoing my disappointment into dark night sky
before sailing me into dark night sky
back to his rough-gentle arms
again
again
and again
to dip in deep, dark-blue velvety
palpate golden sheen of the golden full moon
snatching twinkling stars.
“Drink all Ma’s omena* soup
to be taller, reach the dark night sky”
father said, following my gaze
into the dark night sky
static radio bleating reggae
golden full moon bathing us in golden sheen
just me and my father
sleeping in his rough-gentle arms
dreaming of my arms
dipping in deep, dark-blue velvety
palpating golden sheen of the golden full moon
snatching twinkling stars

Death of Dusk
The sun resigns,
bleeds out the vestiges –
remnants of the day.
Exsanguination edges into twilight:
red-brown hangs;
upwards darkens:
blue-brown,
blue-black,
death-black,
disquiet – furtive,
like ghoul-ridden fog.
A sombre moon assumes its role,
gushing silver-white lymph upon the muted scape –
a prequel of supernatural undertones
to chill the scene,
ice the spine,
kill the brain –
we have unnerved the very firmament.
But now a shadow closing down the globe:
dinosaurian cloud shrouds the moon glaze,
claims the late hour –
declared in a dying crow caw.
I, the hidden owl
– nemesis of claustrophobic minds –
awake! for mammal flesh –
fresh, jerking out its warmth in dance of death.
Rock-still I perch in sculptured oneness
with my crooked night-tree,
emanating nocturnal allure.
Together we scowl
together we play the dark
upon the land and sky
and mind
while you lie as dead in your box.

A Paper Boat On A Murky River
on your hand is a paper boat
you made last night
on a rainy day like this
you put on a gray rain coat
the river rises
perfect for your scheme
you put the boat gently
on the brown water
white paper boat
carried by this murkiness
your hands push
the paper boat leaves
tonight you sleep on
the wooden floor
it is mahogany brown and you
become the paper boat
sailing inside your dream
the floor becomes the big river
your thoughts become the wind
your eyes become two moons
the room is as dark as the night
the dream is so alive like a mother's song.

Names
Names can come easy, just too peaceful can their meaning be,
Like those hearts in the breasts, and the concluded parts of a book.
Where are sudden impulses? From the heart, or the liver, or the brain?
Your understanding surpasses me when you say,
It is the name I give and forgive, for my only selfish part is sin.
The followers of your religion are like birds in the sky,
Each are the stars around the night, wrapped tight, found white,
Like the naming of a person too bold, too cold at night.
We read your name in the local newspaper, and decided to keep this memory,
That stars are made on this day,
That religion has forsaken the mind of our name,
The name of a very good man.

Paper
Paper promises, Dunstead said,
paper cups, wallpaper being stuck
up on the wall for the next to last
time, paper tigers, paper to wipe
the ass and best of all paper to
create art, to have it from the heart,
to see it out there, being gazed at,
studied by some bearded guy with
glasses and paper money to buy
the next paper to create and then
if I’m lucky the muse turning up on
time and giving me the big nudge
in the right direction or some paper
picture of some nude dame giving
the long time wished for erection.

The White Of The Paper
i like the white screen
i like the white paper
because they ask such
a simple task from me
write as you wish
think as you want to
or dont want to
I feel a white dove
flying amongst wondrous
cumulus clouds
meditate as much as i wish
so that the white becomes
a mere plane of zen,
a vibration of existence
i like the white screen
i like the white paper
because they ask just
such a simple thing of me
to swing myself and exercise
my thoughts so that i let loose
clouds, birds, stars and moon
in the minds of men
i like the white screen
i like the white paper
because they always
are my best friends,
open an infinite plane
for me to act out my antics
for the good of men,
exercise their minds and
let their humours flow
i like the white of the
screen and the paper
because they are always
there to accommodate me
to let the gift from heaven flow

Veneta Marina
The masts rise white to the stars,
White on the night of the sky,
Out of the water's night,
And the stars lean down to them white.
Ah! how the stars seem nigh;
How far away are the stars!
And I too under the stars,
Alone with the night again,
And the water's monotone;
I and the night alone,
And the world and the ways of men
Farther from me than the stars.

A White Paper
a white paper's
limitless as space
the learned plot
stars and planets
day and night
the schooled
try to reach
to the unlearned
a white paper
might as well be
carrying space
exciting, limitless
and not so unreacheable

A celestial stage
A grandiose theatre stage our universe
The sky its backdrop,
The twinkling stars, its white angels
The Moon its alluring princess
And the Sun its master of ceremony
Honouring everything with a name
Giving each created a character and form
Pampering the windows of our souls
The lightnings and thunders
Are the drums and strobelights
Punctuating the climaxes and suspense
Of these celestial histronics
Raging through our heavens
And the cumulous clouds the scene parters
The gentle winds are to show directions
And the rains a bonus to calm
The audience's nerves and boost fertility
To beget flowers, greenery and everything lovable!

Lost In The Stars
(kurt weill/maxwell anderson)
Before lord God made the sea and the land
He held all the stars in the palm of his hand
And they ran through his fingers like grains of sand
And one little star fall alone
Then the lord God hunted through the wild night air
For the little dark star in the wind down there
And he stated and promised hed take special care
So it wouldnt get lost again
Now, man dont mind if the stars grow dim
And the clouds blow over and darken him
So long as the lord gods watching over him
Keeping track how it all goes on
But Ive been walking through the night and the day
Till my eyes get weary and my hair turns grey
And sometimes it seems maybe gods gone away
Forgetting the promise that we heard him say
And were lost out here in the stars
Little stars, big stars
Blowing through the night
And were lost out here in the stars
Little stars, big stars
Blowing through the night
And were lost out here in the stars

Smooth Velvet
Bright stars are coming out
the deep dark sky to light.
Glinting from far above
such blackness to ignite.
They beam towards the earth,
from so many miles away.
Worlds that now are empty
of life. They’ve had their day.
Tapestry of diamonds,
on lush smooth velvet seen.
Sparkling, all these jewels,
with the moon in between.
Twinkling with goldenness,
pin points in the blue.
Shining every night-time,
giving an awesome view.
Bright stars are coming out,
the air is fresh and clear.
No clouds to hide their rays,
they pierce the stratosphere.
The heavens are so vast,
with planets everywhere.
Will earth finally be,
another shooting flare.

Twinkling stars
Twinkling stars
Twinkling stars are always inspiring for me.
They are watching me in the nights
as my father did.
I find the image of my father in these stars.
Today my father is away from me like stars.
So when I miss my father
I always recall stars in the nights.
They provide some satisfaction
& relief from my grief.

The Night Sky
The Night Sky
Stars Were So Bright In The Nights Dark Sky
The Little Lights That Lit Up The Black Spots In Space
Stars That We Wondered In
And Saw Many Wonderful Things
Like The Many Stars That Are Out There...
How There Are So Many Lights In The Night Sky...
How The Night Sky Could Look So Great
In Only Black And White
The Same Thing, The Same Looks..
Yet So Many Objects And Point Outs Of Our Imagination
Oh, How The Night Sky
When We Look On about Its The Same Sky We See When We're Away From Each other
The Same Crescent Moon, The Same Stars
The Same Look Outs That Remind Me Of You.

Up For The Challenge
Up for the challenge,
And wearing brand new boots.
Up for the challenge.
I've got something to prove!
If I win or lose.
Depictions make no sense.
Whether intended,
Or made by accident.
Up for the challenge,
And wearing brand new boots.
Up for the challenge.
I've got something to prove!
If I win or lose.
Someone others thought a fool,
Maybe one who someday rules!
Some have no purpose but to fly at night like bats.
Some have no purpose but to chitter chat in packs.
Some have no purpose but to stir up tit for tats...
And,
Be petty like that.
'Cause...
That is where their minds are at!
Up for the challenge.
And I know that I can manage it!
Up for the challenge,
And wearing brand new boots.
Up for the challenge,
'Cause I've got something to prove.
Depictions make no sense.
Whether intended,
Or made by accident.
But I admit I get incensed,
When no one but me pays my rent!
'Oh? '
No 'Oh'.
Some have no purpose but to fly at night like bats.
And...
Some have no purpose but to chitter chat in packs.
And...
Some have no purpose but to stir up tit for tats.
And...
Be petty like that,
'Cause...
That is where their minds are at!
Up for the challenge.
And I know that I can manage it!
'Oh? '
Up for the challenge.
And I know that I can manage it.
Up for the challenge,
And no doubts are taking space up...
In my mind!

2 Twinkling Stars
Across a sky of indigo blue
On a cold and lonely night
Two twinkling stars hung silently
Just out of each others sight
Each star looking wistfully
At a moon that turned to blue
Wishing on another star
To find a love so true
Then a comet streaked across the sky
They stared in star struck wonder
As if drawn by some greater force
They moved toward one another
Suspended in the heavens
The stars began to dance
Spinning ever gracefully
In a heavenly romance
Two twinkling stars in the heavens
Now shine as one sparkling light
Across a sky of indigo blue
Suspended in the night.

Remember The Three Stars?
do you remember the three stars
one night that we have been seeing
during those dangerous days
of our union?
did i not tell you to take two,
as the other one has been taken
by another person that i love?
you have been keeping them
all those years
and nothing really happens
how you kept the glow
was a waste of time, really,
no other stars pop-out like
a round white mushroom
in the dark sky
your time is over.
I am retaking one of the two stars.
It is mine.
Now i am taking over
my own dark sky.
I will hang the star
named for me.
