A monkey
A monkey
I remember when I was only two and curious
At writing, had set on the blackboard in the
Kitchen, started scribbling with a chalk,
Aunty startled, laughed and complimented:
'Clever Boy, your writings are so good.'
Since then my days have been filled
With letters and figures, the stars, moon,
And the seas, my little brain going
Everywhere. 'One thing at a time, John,
Don't bite more than you can chew. Don't
Run before you can walk, ' aunty chided.
The world tumbles through my life like
A train carrying myriad passengers,
Each a different facet of a diamond
That makes this world sparkle with
Brilliance. 'Yes, John, there is beauty
In each of us, in fact everything, if we
Learn the ropes to get to them, ' Aunty
Suggested pointing to a monkey throwing
A coconut from a tree to its owner.

The Happy Little Cripple
I'm thist a little cripple boy, an' never goin' to grow
An' get a great big man at all!--'cause Aunty told me so.
When I was thist a baby onc't, I falled out of the bed
An' got 'The Curv'ture of the Spine'--'at's what the Doctor said.
I never had no Mother nen--fer my Pa runned away
An' dassn't come back here no more--'cause he was drunk one day
An' stobbed a man in thish-ere town, an' couldn't pay his fine!
An' nen my Ma she died--an' I got 'Curv'ture of the Spine!'
I'm nine years old! An' you can't guess how much I weigh, I bet!--
Last birthday I weighed thirty-three!--An' I weigh thirty yet!
I'm awful little fer my size--I'm purt' nigh littler 'nan
Some babies is!--an' neighbers all calls me 'The Little Man!'
An' Doc one time he laughed an' said: 'I 'spect, first thing you know,
You'll have a little spike-tail coat an' travel with a show!'
An' nen I laughed--till I looked round an' Aunty was a-cryin'--
Sometimes she acts like that, 'cause I got 'Curv'ture of the Spine.'
I set--while Aunty's washin'--on my little long-leg stool,
An' watch the little boys an' girls a-skippin' by to school;
An' I peck on the winder, an' holler out an' say:
'Who wants to fight The Little Man 'at dares you all today?'
An', nen the boys climbs on the fence, an' little girls peeks through,
An' they all says: 'Cause you're so big, you think we're 'feared o' you!'
An' nen they yell, an' shake their fist at me, like I shake mine--
They're thist in fun, you know, 'cause I got 'Curv'ture of the Spine!'
At evening, when the ironin's done, an' Aunty's fixed the fire,
An' filled an' lit the lamp, an' trimmed the wick an' turned it higher,
An' fetched the wood all in fer night, an' locked the kitchen door,
An' stuffed the ole crack where the wind blows in up through the floor--
She sets the kittle on the coals, an' biles an' makes the tea,
An' fries the liver an' the mush, an' cooks a egg fer me;
An' sometimes--when I cough so hard--her elderberry wine
Don't go so bad fer little boys with 'Curv'ture of the Spine!'
But Aunty's all so childish-like on my account, you see,
I'm 'most afeard she'll be took down--an' 'at's what bothers me!--
'Cause ef my good old Aunty ever would git sick an' die,
I don't know what she'd do in heaven--till _I_ come, by an' by:--
Fer she's so ust to all my ways, an' ever'thing, you know,
An' no one there like me, to nuss an' worry over so!--
'Cause all the little childerns there's so straight an' strong an' fine,
They's nary angel 'bout the place with 'Curv'ture of the Spine!'

Feed The Monkey
She likes to feed the monkey
She likes to feed the monkey
She likes to feed the monkey
She likes the monkey
Well gather 'round and let me tell you all a story
About a boy and his monkey
He's got that kind of monkey that the girls wanna know
He likes to take his monkey every place that he goes
(Can we pet your monkey?)
Hey, ho, you see the monkey?
Did you know you made my monkey hungry?
I didn't really know how it get so hungry
I'd like to know
Would you feed the monkey?
Well you can pet my monkey
'Cause my monkey don't bite
But when you pet my monkey
He get funky all night
My monkey ain't no ordinary orangutang
'Cause my monkey likes to do the wild thing
My monkey don't scratch
My monkey don't bite
My monkey don't swing no tree
My monkey don't hit
My monkey don't drool
My monkey be swing with me
My monkey don't freak
My monkey don't trip
My monkey don't wear no cape
But you can tell what my monkey wanna eat
'Cause it turn into a big ol' ape
Yeah...
Hey..
The monkey's getting hungry
Hey, hey, why don't you feed your monkey?
(REPEAT x 3)
What she want?
She wants the monkey
(REPEAT x 3)
You know she want
You know she want
You know she wants the monkey
(REPEAT x 3)
Hey, hey, she likes to feed the monkey
Ooh, she's sayin' it's time to feed the monkey
Everyday she wants to feed the monkey
All through the day she likes to feed the monkey
She likes to feed the monkey
(REPEAT x 7)
Feed the monkey
(REPEAT x 19)
She likes to feed the monkey

Styles Of Beggary 3
Bundled pregnancy with pregnant beggary
Foretold aunty's future
Over a hillocked fortune
Of turmeric, sindhur, flowers
Incense, perfume, bath-soap
Cash, jewellery, rice and pulses
Hillocky on a kanjeevaram silk brocade..
Aunty spat three times..
Ten minutes-meditation
Closed eyes, no turning back....
Temple evening spat back
on lady-beggary
Aunty's blood-pressure heightened
Chasing the fleeing with shaken coins

Monkey struggle
Skinny legged monkey
Jumps from tree to tree
Giggling loud at spree
To be at last free
Incapable to comprehend
In his peanut sized brain
There was nothing he could gain
As he didn’t drive the train
He kept jumping from tree to tree
Train kept moving with full speed
Enhancing the unjustifiable greed
Ignoring the red signals, refusing to heed
The jugglers laughed and laughed
Leting loose the rope
When spectators clinged to hope
Trusting the monkey will finally cope
Poor little monkey did whatever he could
To avoid the inevitable crash
With high jumps and dash
By making everything a mash
By jumping from tree to tree
Good Memories Remain With Me
Good memories remain with me and good memories never die
Of Summer days on uncle Dan's and aunty Mary's farm in green old Lisnaboy
Above the rushy meadow the lark carolled in the sky
And the new mown hay it scented sweetly in the sunshine of July.
The wild brown bees were gathering nectar on the flowers by the hedgerow
And above the sunlit meadows the swallows flew to and fro
And butterflies of many hues flitted around the wildflowers
Their life is brief when compared to ours they are old in forty hours.
The childhood years they went too fast the time just seemed to fly
But our happy memories of the past we reflect on and enjoy
Cock robin with the rich red breast sang on the willow tree
The robin king of his small World his hard won territory.
With my Uncle Dan and Aunty Mary I tossed the hay to dry
In the mid fifties in July in green old Lisnaboy
In old Duhallow north of here and thousands of miles away
But the boy back then now getting old and showing his years in gray.

Proudest Monkey
Swing in this tree
Oh I am bounce around so well
Branch to branch,
Limb to limb you see
All in a days dream
Im stuck
Like the other monkeys here
I am a humble monkey
Sitting up in here again
But then came the day
I climbed out of these safe limbs
Ventured away
Walking tall, head high up and singing
I went to the city
Car horns, corners and the gritty
Now I am the proudest monkey youve ever seen
Monkey see, monkey do
Then comes the day
Staring at myself I turn to question me
I wonder do I want the simple, simple life that I once lived in well
Oh things were quiet then
In a way they were the better days
But now I am the proudest monkey youve ever seen
Monkey see, monkey do
Monkey see, monkey do

Shock The Monkey
Shock the monkey to life
Shock the monkey to life
Cover me when I run
Cover me through the fire
Something knocked me out the trees
Now Im on my knees
Cover me, darling please
Monkey, monkey, monkey
Dont you know when youre going to shock the monkey
Fox the fox
Rat the rat
You can ape the ape
I know about that
There is one thing you must be sure of
I cant take any more
Darling, dont you monkey with the monkey
Monkey, monkey, monkey
Dont you know youre going to shock the monkey
Wheels keep turning
Somethings burning
Dont like it but I guess Im learning
Shock! - watch the monkey get hurt, monkey
Cover me, when I sleep
Cover me, when I breathe
You throw your pearls before the swine
Make the monkey blind
Cover me, darling please
Monkey, monkey, monkey
Dont you know youre going to shock the monkey
Too much at stake
Ground beneath me shake
And the news is breaking
Shock! - watch the monkey get hurt, monkey
Shock the monkey
Shock the monkey
Shock the monkey to life

Monkey In The Moon
Once I was so sure, once I was so blind
Wonder what you said if you read my mind
Angel in a car, devil on a cross
Scarecrows in the fields, jesus on the rocks
Letters in the rain. rabbit on the run
God was made for you, lizards for the sun
Monkey in the moon, I can see you through
Monkey in the moon, this ones made for you
( message understood? )
Flower in a word, words without a priest
Wings without a bird, beauty without beast
Signal overkill, trains are overdue
Fool upon a hill, ocean overview
Letters in the rain. . .
Fool upon a hill, trains are overdue
Except what we forgot nothings really new
Head above the clouds, eyes are opened wide
Windmill burning down, walk into the light
Walk into the light
Monkey in the moon...
Letters in the rain
This ones made for you

Christmas In Lisnaboy
Memories of a childhood Christmas for a lifetime we enjoy
And I often recall Christmas as a child in Lisnaboy
Santa left his bag of presents by the porch door in the moonlight
When the air was damp and frosty on the eve of Christmas Night
In Uncle Dan and Aunty Mary's house of here far north and far away
We enjoyed the ham and turkey and pudding on Christmas Day
But the years went by so quickly and time has left me looking gray
And the biological clock on my life silently ticking away
Weeks before Christmas we wondered what toys Santa to us would bring
The innocence of childhood it is a marvellous thing,
The Seasons go so quickly and the past forever gone
But the happy times from childhood in the memory living on
Uncle Dan and Aunty Mary in eternal rest now lay
But they come into my memory on the eve of Christmas Day.

Sleeping Monkey
The feeling's not the same,
In fact it's getting pretty tame,
It's just not that great anymore,
I guess I'll go outside
And flag a weasel for a ride,
And take it on down to the shore
Wallowing in fear,
The days and weeks that you're not here,
Was all the waiting in vain?
The day that you arrived
My sleeping monkey is revived,
But you sent him home on the train
Home on the train,
Why'd you send my monkey on a train?
The day that you arrived,
My sleeping monkey is revived,
But you sent him home on the train

Too Much Monkey Business
Running to and fro,
Hard working at the mill,
Never failed at the mill,
There come a rotten bill.
Aw too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business
For me to be involved again.
Salesman talking to me,
Trying to run me up a creek,
Says you can buy it, go on try it,
You can pay me next week.
Aw too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business
For me to be involved again.
Blonde hair, good-looking,
Trying to get me hooked and married
Get a home, settle down by the book.
Too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business
For me to be involved again.
Been to yokohama, baby,
Fighting in the war,
Army bunk, army chow,
Army clothes, army car.
Too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business
For me to be involved again.
Same thing every day,
Getting up, going to school.
No need for me complaining,
My objection's overruled.
Aw too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business
For me to be involved again.
Working in the filling station,
Too many tasks,
Wipe the windows, check the oil,
Check the tires, dollar gas?
Aw too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business
Don't want you by the race,
Get away and leave me.
[original has one more verse:
Pay-phone, something's wrong,
Dime gone, will mail.
Oughta sue the operator
For telling me a tale.
Too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business,
Too much monkey business
For me to be involved with you

Looking For Changes
I saw a cat with a machine in his brain
The man who fed him said
He didnt feel any pain
Id like to see that man take out that machine
And stick it in his own brain
You know what I mean
I saw a rabbit with its eyes full of tears
The lab that owned her had
Been doing it for years
Why dont we make them pay for every last eye
That couldnt cry its own tears
Do you kmow what I mean
When I tell you that well all be
Looking for changes
Changes in the way we treat our fellow creatures
And we will learn how to grow
Well I tell you that well all be
Looking for changes
Changes in the way we treat our fellow creatures
And we will learn how to grow
When were looking for changes
I saw a monkey that was learning to choke
A guy beside him gave him cigarettes to smoke
And everytime that monkey started to cough
The bastard laughed his head off
Do you know what I mean
When I tell you that well all be
Looking for changes
Changes in the way we treat our fellow creatures
And we will learn how to grow
When were looking for changes
Were looking for changes
Were looking for changes
Were looking for changes in the way we are

Nothing To Say
Remember walking with you by my side
You were my papa and I was your pride
Now Ive got children and Im going grey
No time for talking I got nothin to say
Those sunday dinners that we had at home
Now Ive got a house and Ive got friends of my own
We cant do tomorrow what we did yesterday
Its best that were going our separate ways, ok
How is your rheumatism (nothing to say)
How are your chillblains (nothing to say)
Hows aunty mabel (nothing to say)
So far papa, I got nothin to say, ok
Those happy days we spent together
We thought our world would never change
How the days go by
And things will never be the same
You keep pretending that everythings fine
So you make small talk to help pass the time
But all the words that you spit from your face
Add up to nothin you got nothin to say
How are those noisy neighbors next door
Ill have to go soon cos Im getting bored
I gotta be home early to see a good play
So far papa, I got nothin to say
How is your life insurance (nothing to say)
How is your trade union (nothing to say)
How is your independence (nothing to say)
So for papa, I got nothin to say

Open Your Arms
Sitting under the money tree
look for the fruits of charity
best to pick them fast for they too far gone
they grow rotten to the core on the greedy man's farm
open your moth the words don't come out
even though the thoughts in your head seem to flow
are you so afraid what everybody thinks
are you so afraid to show what you know
to get along, with your sister your brother
get along, we all the same under this shell
brother to brother and sister to sister
and people are people and...
open your arms
monkey do monkey see
why you want to upset me
monkey go monkey say
but let me live my life today
monkey hear monkey walk
monkey you so full of talk
when are we every gonna learn
to fulfill the need to be free
feel free
be free
stand free
wont need mediocrity
brother to sister and
sister to brother and
brother to brother and sister to sister
open your arms

Know that a monkey is on your back
There is a monkey on your back
At any point of time each one of us is carrying a monkey on the back.
Whether you like it or not your thoughts, words and deeds are determined by this very powerful monkey.
This monkey is nothing but a personification of the tasks either
assigned to you or taken up on your own.
The life line of the monkey is the strong desire that you nurse to
accomplish these tasks.
You may not know that you only feed this monkey and make it naughty.
They quality of your feed and its extent depend on your knowledge, attitude and earlier practices.
Often, wittingly or unwittingly we act only to get rid of the monkey.
Unfortunately, if one monkey goes the other is just taking its place.
And you think, talk and act accordingly.
Some wise people, are they really wise, pass on the monkey to some other’s back tactfully, so the monkey is rid off, but still alive. This is what
exactly happens in a work environment.
Know your monkeys and their feeds.
Fail not to feed them in time, as monkeys should be fed or shot to death. Otherwise, they will starve to death, forcing you to conduct postmortem.
Keep monkeys' population below the maximum number you can probably feed.
Feed monkeys only by appointment, otherwise you will be feeding them at odd hours.
Feed monkeys personally, if left to others, they may feed wrong and/or in unacceptable doses.
Each monkey is unique, hence its feed and frequency of feed differs.
No monkey stays long. They know when to leave you as once the monkey is satisfied with your hospitality it jumps off your back.
The new monkey on your back is the task to know whether monkeys are there or not on your back.

In zoo...
Monkey smile
The rose flower...
Kiss the flower...
Play the flower...
Flower was cry to ask
' o...monkey what

Monkey say for flower
' i love you flower...
your soft...
your nice...
your smooth...
very impress for me...
so... i love you....'
Flower say fore monkey
' No.. no... nasty monkey

Monkey very angry
So...

Monkeys
sorry i treated you the way
i did usurping the monkey
in you that dies to jump about,
life once so clearly spelt out
the monkey that caught my heart
years ago with its perpetual winking eyes -
a hundred times a minute
in its curiosity of the world
the money that crafted a net in my heart
sorry that i had nearly suffocated
your monkey and thanks for
shaking me into realisation
i have chained your monkey
blown away its vital K
all these life struggles to jump
a step over the others have
nearly turned us into a creature
carved of stone - a huge black boulder,
so cold and impenetrable
we could look into each other
without getting to the vital core
always overwhelmed by a
chilling towering stone
only the warm lively monkey
would give a life back to us
the only creature i could fall for solace
i would trade with anything
to put back the K in you so that
our life would be fun and warm

Space Monkey
Space monkey, space monkey
What you doing out there?
Why its dark as a dungeon way up in the air
Come gather round me you little monkeys and a story Ill tell
About a brave young primate, outer space knew him well
He was born at the top of a big old tree
Way back in 1953.
He could swing through the jungle and hang by his toes
Till they took him to russia cause they could I suppose
They dressed him up in a spacesuit and it started to snow
Shot him off in a rocket where no man would go
Space monkey space monkey
What you doing out there?
Why its dark as a dungeon way up in the air
Therell be no one to greet you when you get back home
No hammer or sickle youll be on your own.
He had plenty of cuban bananas and loads of spam
But he found great difficulty trying to open the can
One day he slipped on a banana peel and the ship lost control
It spun out of orbit and shot o]ut the black hole
Its been four decades now, thats nine monkey years
Thats a long time for a space monkey to confront all his fears
Space monkey space monkey
What you doing out there?
Why its dark as a dungeon way up in the air
Therell be no one to greet you when you get back home
No hammer or sickle youll be all on your own.
Space monkey, space monkey
Its time to get real
The space race is over, how does it feel
Cold wars had a heatwave, iron curtains torn down
Theyve rolled up the carpet in space monkey town
Now leningrad is petersburg and petersburgs hell
For a card-carrying monkey with a story to tell
The space monkey was reportedly last sighted about
A half a block off of red square
In a karaoke bar having a few drinks with some of his friends
There was the dog that flew sputnik
And a blind red-headed, one legged parrot
Who had done some minor research for dow chemical
They were drinking american vodka
Imported all the way from paducah, kentucky
And reportedly had their arms around each others
Shoulders singing.
Those were the days, my friend, we thought theyd never end
Space monkey, space monkey
Theres nothing to do
But its better than living in a communist zoo
Therell be no one to greet you when you get back home
No hammer or sickle youll be all on you own
