Girl in a Bar

You're so uncool
But I don't care,
Don't like cool girls....

You're no-one's fool,
You got those curls
And ringlets in your hair.

You sure ain't hip,
(Perhaps you're square!)
But I don't care,

You got those curls....

Come home with me,
We'll have some fun,
I'll shoot my gun,
And you can be my only one.

Girls Were Made To Take Care Of Boys

Ralph blane
Girls were made to take care of boys
To be kind and dutiful
Hmmm...
Girls were made to take care of boys
Made to share their sorrows
Made to share their joys
Made to help and guide them
With ever a patient hand
Made to give affection
In the right direction
(always understand)
Now boys may think they take care of girls
Just because they pass on their fashions and their curls
But Ive always found
Its just the other way around
(other way around)
If you need the girl
And declare you do
(tell her that you need her)
Shell be there
To take care of you
(shell be there)
(now boys may think they take care of girls
Just because theyre clever with their fashions and their curls)
But Ive always found
Its just the other way around

Girls With Curls

Girls who have a natural curl
to their hair are completely
agitated with the bending trend...
they heat their flat iron discreetly

Testing to make sure it won't burn
patiently taking their hair by strands
smoothly ironing the kink... firmly
pressing as hard as it will withstand

Gradually natural curls are
entirely straight as a board
not a wave or twist is insight...
An hour of diligence gives reward

Girls with naturally straight hair
admire girls with curly hair
they wish they too could have
bounce and twirls without a care

It is their desire to duplicate
curly hair in order to feel pretty
Hours are spent carefully spinning
strands upon spools until weary

After waiting somewhat patiently
the time for triumph slowly arrives
Gently undoing the spins to see
beautiful ringlets for which they strive

It is a perplexing mystery to unravel
It is unknown to the great intellects
of the world why some girls undo
curls while others pursue… it is complex

I Was A Fool To Care

I was a fool to care
I was a fool to care
I was a fool to care
But I dont care even if I was a fool
Im still in love with you
Had I listened to the grapevine
I might have had my doubts
But I did my level best just to block them out
cause love is so unwise and love has no eyes
And it took a while for a fool to see
What his friends were on about
I was a fool to care
I was a fool to care
I was a fool to care
But I dont care even if I was a fool
Im still in love with you
Imagining your face
It almost fills the empty space before me
I can see you eyes and almost hear your lovely lies
I wish I was an old man
And love was through with me
I wish I was a baby on my mamas knee
I wish I was a freight train moving down the line
Just keeping track of time
Without all these memories
I was a fool to care
I was a fool to care
I was a fool to care
But I dont care even if I was a fool
Im still in love with you
Baby, yes, I am
I could have opened my eyes
I could have seen through your lies
I could have stood for no more
I could have walked out the door
But I was a fool to care, I was a fool to care
But I was a fool to care, I was a fool to care
You werent nothing but a fool to care; just a country fool to care.

How Do You Talk To Girls

Well Im sick of hanging out on the street
Every saturday night with the boys
Listening to the radios big beat
We crank it just to hear the noise
Yeah we talk about the girls, girls, girls
And we talk, talk, talk all night
Sure were all romeos and casanovas
But we cant seem to get it right
Seems Im making it harder and harder
While everybody else is doing well
I get confused by their bodies
I get tangled in their curls
How do you talk to girls
How do you talk to girls
Whats a poor boy to do
Tell me how do you talk to girls?
How do you talk to girls?
I see this girl over there right away
Im trying to think of something to say
Well I think Ill have one more drink
Ill be ready to make my play
But this guy moves in and he talks to her
And she nods her head
Well Im used to missing out on the girl
But I want to know what he said
Seems Im making it harder and harder
While everybody else is doing well
I get confused by their bodies
I get tangled in their curls
How do you talk to girls?
How do you talk to girls?
Whats a poor boy to do
Im tangled up in their curls
How do you talk to girls?
How do you talk to girls?
Out of wisdom and out of pearls
Tell me how do you talk to girls
Am I stupid or misunderstood
Id say something clever if I only could
Were only ten feet apart
But it feels like the world
How do you talk to girls?
How do you talk to girls?
Out of wisdom and out of pearls
Tell me how do you talk to girls

Tonight

Remember when we said, girl, please dont go,
And how Id be loving you forever,
Taught you bout hangin tough as long as you got the right stuff,
Didnt we, girls, ooh, didnt we, girls, aah?
Well, I guess, its a brandnew day after all
Every time we hear the curtain call,
See the girls with the curls in the hair,
The buttons and the pins and the loud fanfares.
Tonight, tonight.
Remember when we traveled round the world,
There were a lot of people and girls,
Fan mail from everywhere showed us how you care,
Didnt it, girls, ooh, didnt it, girls, aah?
Well, I guess...
(spoken:) sounds good, hey fellas, lets do it, here we go.
La-la-la-la-la-la tonight, la-la-la-la-la-la tonight.
Tonight, tonight (repeat & fade)

We put the urn abord ship

We put the urn aboard ship
with this inscription:

This is the dust of little
Timas who unmarried was led
into Persephone's dark bedroom

And she being far from home, girls
her age took new-edged blades
to cut, in mourning for her,
these curls of their soft hair

Haircut.

The Barber came to cut my hair,

I told him that it wasn't fair.

My hair had done him no harm,

Without it I would loose my charm.

The Barber he grinned a silly grin,

Said to cut my hair would be no sin.

That I should face it like a man,

But I'm a coward and away I ran.

Do you like sitting in a Barbers chair,

With him chopping away your lovely hair.

Once my head was full of curls,

Covering my face with twisty twirls.

But then the Barber came my way,

I was a child, I had no say.

Off came my curls one by one,

The Barber seemed to have great fun.

Now I'm old and very grey,

I'm nearly bald, my hairs gone away.

But when I see a Barbers chair,

I feel the loss of my curly hair.

You know I truly rue the day,

When that first Barber came my way.

Baby I Don't Care

You're so square--baby
You're so square . . .
Oh, you don't like greasy diners
You don't like sleazy bands
You just want to go
To a movie show
And sit there holding hands
You're so square
Baby i don't care
You don't like going to parties
To toot and talk all night long
You just want to park
Where it's nice and dark
And kiss me, sweet and strong
You're so square
Baby i don't care
You don't know any dance steps
That are new
But nobody else can love me
Like you do
I don't know why my heart flips
I only know it does
I wonder why
I love you baby
I guess it's just because
You're so square
Darlin' i don't care
Oh, i don't know why my heart flips
I only know it does
I wonder why
I love you baby
I guess it's just because
You're so square
I don't care
You're so square

Boys Better

Boys had better beware
You could seem to color your hair.
Or on a wig, you already spent
All the dough to cover your rent.
But not so cool man
If you care, for all the
Other boys caught in your
Bleach job hair.
And girls better beware.
Boys, you better, you better.
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Boys said
She had,
Like gods hands.
A-men
Boys had better beware
You could seem a wasted affair
And like a bitch you already spent
All the dough you promised your friends
But not so cool man if you care
For all the other boys caught
In your bleach job hair.
And girls you better beware,
Boy you better, you better.
Oh man its not fair
To all the other boys caught
In your bleach job hair
And girls you better beware.
Boys, you better, you better

Fool For Love

When I look into your eyes I see
Everything I was meant to be
If Im a fool in love
I dont care, I dont care
When were together
All I know
There is a place
I need to go
If Im a fool in love
I dont care, I dont care
If Im a fool in love
If Im a fool in love
If Im a fool in love
I dont care
I dont care
Visions of moonlight
In the park
We kissed and danced away
In the dark
If Im a fool in love
I dont care, I dont care
Was it wrong to show you
All I feel ?
No, I think that what
Does us in is the
Love were afraid to reveal...
Driving midnight highway one
Love is the ocean
Youre the one

A Few Lines to Beauty

Girls!
You with the bobbed hair or Mary Pickford curls,
Likewise you others
Who still adopt the hair-dressing style,
That makes the moderns smile.
But was undoubtedly the dearest attribute of your mothers.
And, by the by,
You with the glad-eye -
We've seen you in the street
Looking particularly sweet.
And we ask you
Do you think that those girls in the city that is reputed to possess a harbor
can overtask you?
In the matter of looking nice -
We do not seek to give advice;
And, frankly, we don't know.
We have seen both types and so,
Being diplomatic,
We refrain from expressing an opinion that is too emphatic.
We'll leave it to the vote,
Yet hasten to remark that we simply dote
Upon the maiden who
Is just like you,
Fair reader!
We seek not to assume the office or prerogative of a special pleader.
And we own that this question of State Rights
Gives us uneasy dreams o' nights.
Take no notice of those churls
Who tell you that the Sydney girls
Can put it all over you in regard to female beauty.
My dears, you have a duty
At any rate,
Toward your State.
Go in
And Win!
Among you are undoubtedly quite a number of perfect peaches
And the sirens of the Sydney beaches
May yet be proved to be not exactly the pick of the basket.
Girls!
With or without curls,
The honor of your State and the noble men therein ask it.
Here I conclude.
And I trust that these few well-chosen remarks have not been in bad taste or
over-rude.

Don't Be There

Don't be there, don't be there,
'Cause Im on my way,
And Im already gone over.
And Im on my way.
And, I can't recall myself how I went down.
Did I get shot or shoot myself ?
I'm down here.
I'm down here, and you're way up there.
But, that doesn't hurt badly, but it stings right here.
I can't recall myself how I went down.
Did I get shot or shoot myself?
I won't pretend there's nothing there.
You be around, and Ill be square.
Don't be alarmed if Im not there.
You be around, and Ill be square
If you're a rose then Im the thorn that's in your side.
And does it hurt badly, 'cause it burns right here?
I can't recall myself, how I went down.
Did I get shot or shoot myself?
I'd like to say hello,
I'd like to say I care,
I'd like to let you know that nothing here's the same with me.
Nothing here's the same.
'Cause I can't recall myself, how I went down.
Did I get shot or shoot myself?
I won't pretend there's nothing there.
You be around, and I'll be square.
Don't be alarmed if I'm not there.
You be around, and I'll be square.
Don't be around, don't be there.
Don't be there.

Good Time Girls

It's another summer holiday
We go looking out for the good time girls
Good time girls smarter than normal girls
Good time girls drinking and taking pills
Good time girls having a good time
Sit in the sun drinking expensive wine
Good time girls I want to be with you
Pick me up when I am feeling blue
It's another summer holiday
We go looking down for the good time girls
Good time girls smarter than normal girls
Good time girls straight hair and hair that curls
Good time girls having a good time
Sit in the sun drinking electric wine
Good time girls will you come out with me
Making me happy bringing me cups of tea (ha!)
Oh yes

Advice To A 'Sensitive' Boy

If you bought me a bunch of roses
I'd call you a silly fool,
Like that time you carried my satchel
All the way home from school,

But if you want to impress me
Pretend you don't really care,
Stop preening yourself in the mirror
And worrying about your hair!

Chivalrous acts are wasted
On me as a general rule,
I just think you're a sissy -
You're certainly not very cool! !

Don't write me beautiful poems
About love and your soul's despair -
You must be a fool to imagine
That someone like me would care! !

No, don't be so bloody serious,
I just want a bit of fun,
You're making yourself a spectacle,
Laughed at by everyone!

I'd rather go to a disco
And get drunk as a skunk with a friend
Than listen to some young poet
Who swears that his love won't end! !

MO CAILIN ALAINN RUA(My Beautiful Red Haired Girl) /RED RIVER/WEARING HER HAIR - Sequence

MO CAILIN ALAINN RUA
(My Beautiful Red Haired Girl)

Your hair
taken by the wind

blown
into flame

a fiery red
Medussa

standing on
the edge

of this

mountain
a world

turned to stone

as if your gaze
froze this landscape

into place.

I too
still as stone

your hair
flaring up into the air

fiery snakes
like thoughts

bursting out of your mind
fighting the sunset

that only
a small box camera

captures
& contains

this photo
cutting off your head

from the rest of you

mythical
untouchable

mo cailin alainn rua

mo cailin alainn rua.

***

RED RIVER

Your hair
trickles down your back

in curls...curls
curl after curl

rivers of ringlets
cascading down your spine.

I want to drown
in the waters of your hair.

You wear a waterfall
over each shoulder

The fiery flames
of your tresses

crashing over thigh & hip & buttock!

My hands
like fishes

swimming all over
your body

splashed with the beauty
of your hair

touching & touching

the sheer
nakedness

of
you.

***** **

WEARING HER HAIR

You stand
before me

dressed only
in the dress

that your hair
weaves about you

naked
yet
not

you wear
your hair

as a magical
garment

from a half remembered half forgotten fairytale.

You undress
throwing your hair over each shoulder

I come to you as if a spell
commanded me to & you

wrap me
in your hair.

Both our
nakedness

wearing your hair
sheltered here

lost amongst
kisses.

***
A fellow poet(well, it wasn't a fella) divulged that she too was red of the hair(this had been unknown to me) and so this homage to redheads came into being just on this wisp of information...the memories and images flood back into being.

Talking (and Singing) of the Nordic Man

I

Behold, my child, the Nordic man,
And be as like him, as you can;
His legs are long, his mind is slow,
His hair is lank and made of tow.

II

And here we have the Alpine Race:
Oh! What a broad and foolish face!
His skin is of a dirty yellow.
He is a most unpleasant fellow.

III

The most degraded of them all
Mediterranean we call.
His hair is crisp, and even curls,
And he is saucy with the girls.

Little Acorns

Take all your problems
And rip em apart
Carry them off
In a shopping cart
And another thing
You shouldve known from the start
The problems in hand
Are lighter than at heart
Be like the squirrel, girl
Be like the squirrel
Give it a whirl, girl
Be like the squirrel
And another thing
You have to know in this world

Straighten your curls
Well, your problems
Hide in your curls

Camouflage

Camouflage is all the rage.
Ladies in their fight with age-
Soldiers in their fight with foes-
Demagogues who mask and pose
In the guise of statesmen-girls
Black of eyes with golden curls-
Politicians, votes in mind,
Smiling, affable and kind,
All use camouflage to-day.
As you go upon your way,
Walk with caution, move with care;
Camouflage is everywhere!
