the Seated Dollar

(Murder of Wild Bill Hitchcock,08/02/76)

He tossed it down upon the bar,
careless of its worth and weight.
To ease his thirst required Whiskey
Then he’d find a woman for a “date”.

Saddle weary and in pain
From the Long and Dusty trail
Bill had rode hard to reach Cheyenne
to rest his boot on this bar rail.

His fate that day did not include
A decent bath or indecent touch-
The Men he gambled with grew angry
His fast gun hand –not fast enough

Someone grabbed that silver dollar
Not bothering to check the date.
The body, whitened with death’s pallor, .
the dead man’s hand; the Aces and Eights.

The seasons turned and turned again
Whole generations turned to dust
The pilfered dollar was collected
Inherited, passed on in Trust.

I lay it gently on the velvet
Careful of its worth and weight
my seated Dollar set requires
a specimen of this grade and date
.

Trail Of Tears

This song was first released on the dreamland express album. it is the only album it has been released on.
No more beautiful moons may we spend on our land
In the north, the scarlet council talks of war
And the long knives have massacred the tribe and burned corn
Were not welcome in our homeland anymore
No more songs of the hunters on the baffalo plain
No more smoke from sacred fires touch these hills
And the numbers of the people grow fewer every mile
And our children will not leave the great spirits ways
There will be a trail of tears
There will be a trail of pain
And jackson will have the mississippi and the twenty dollar bill
But for us the trail is all that will remain
On the streets of rapid city
On the road to wounded knee
There is whiskey for forgetting everything
But the old ones say there may be time learning from each other
The way that it had once been meant to be
There is still a trail of tears
There is still a trail of pain
And jackson has got the mississippi and the twenty dollar bill
But for us the trail of tears remains
And jackson has got the mississippi and the twenty dollar bill
But how long will the trail of tears remain

Top Dollar

Well I tried to find something
Something to hold on to
I thought it was you cause Im sick and tired
Of trying to make something
Something out of nothing
I guess since you were bluffing
Now I think Im losing my mind
The pain in my heart
Was it worth the price?
The pain in my heart
Was it worth the time I wasted on you?
Youre giving me the top dollar blues
And I gave you it all, all
All that I could give you
Youve taken what Ive given
Ynd thrown it all away
Like its nothing
Never meant nothing
Now Im left with nothing
What an awful price Ive paid
The pain in my heart,
Was it worth the price?
The pain in my heart,
Was it worth the time I wasted on you?
Youre giving me the top dollar blues.
Ive bet all my money and thats how it goes
You ran a good race
But you lost just by a nose
Its true.
Baby, youre giving me the top dollar blues.
The top dollar blues,
I gave you it all, all
All that I could give you
And the top dollar blues
Top dollar blues

Aces & Eights

Walked up in the bar sat down on the stool
And got the low down from the guy with the jewel
He was playin' pool and he thought he was good
Cuz he bet me 5 dimes he could sink em with his foot
He grabbed a stick tried to kick it with his heel
Did a sic back flip and ended up full kneel
He didn't squeal but it looked like it hurt
And it did cuz he took me for my cash and my shirt
I got worked but what's worse than that
Just as he was leaving he tipped his hat
Then he laughed and said "i'm sorry 'bout your luck"
When he walked out the door he got hit by a truck
Chorus:
Aces and eights, aces and eights, aces and eights
That's a dead mands hand
Aces and eights, aces and eights, aces and eights
That's a dead mands hand
Aces and eights, aces and eights, aces and eights
That's a dead mands hand
Aces and eights, aces and eights, aces and eights
How about the guy used to hang in the clubs
Getting all the numbers and getting all the love
He didn't wear gloves he was too hard core
May he rest in peace we don't see him anymore
Lots of stories and old cliches
Small town girl tryin' to make her way
She moved to the city all she wanted was a job
Now she's underneath the desk tryin' to move to the top
It won't stop cuz the circle won't let it
Be careful what you wish for
You might get it
You know the cat got macked by the bees
He was messin' with the honey and the mouse and the cheese
(chorus)
You could beat the system you could beat your girl
But who ya gonna beat come the end of the world
(imagine) everything you ever worked for (strived for)
Suddenly becomin' everything your gonna die for
Now what'd ya live for? nothing anymore right
How could you live your life uptight?
See everything you did and everything you seen
Rolled around in the mud but you couldn't come clean
And that makes you dirty now how does that feel?
Living life like an open cut that won't heal
Sore at the world and you don't know why
You boucned like a ball and that's how you'll die

Sonnet: Life is full of Surprises

Some things in life remain an utter flop!
My plans to make my life secure did fail;
I thought I’ll run but I could only hop!
My mind and body couldn’t stay hearty, hale.

The things I thought were precious-most were not;
Some ignored things were worth their weight in gold;
The mountain fizzled out and turned a dot;
The innocence of youth was gone when old.

The things that God bestowed on me were great;
Although delayed, they stood stead-fast with time;
I learnt that I could always change my fate;
Sometimes, a dollar got dwarfed by a dime!

Life’s problems pernicious get solved so fast;
The ways of God are strange but truly last.

Money (Dollar Bill) (feat. Sadat X)

Dollar dollar bills
Deutch, marks, franks, yens, and pounds
I rock the jocked up sounds
From Devenshire Downs
Out the Fordham Road
Up top in the boogie
I be loyal to my peeps
Like budha stud doogie
Never very bad news
Payin' crazy dues
I'm blowin' out crews
And tamin' mad shrews
Like Bill Shakespeare
The fakes will disappear
The flavor in your ear
Is strong like Everclear
Two hundred proofs
So put the match to the roof
And set this bitch on fire
Get rich, the empire's
About to strike back
If you rock the mic wack
And that's the way it is 'cause yo
It's like that
Sadat X: Money, money y'all
It be the root of all evil
Sadat X: Money, money y'all
It makes you popular with people
I go back to the 80's
Like three times a lady
When it was pussy for free
And crack for currency
It just occurred to me
It's time for surgery
I remove MC's like tumors
The lies and the rumors
Got me thinkin' of this dub
By Timex Social Club
Yo, word to my momma
I'm high off the trauma
Whitey Ford gets deeper than subway trains
And I serve lazy fools like fast food chains
All pain no gain
Makes the brain insane
Life in the fast laneT
he flakesThe cash gains (for real)
CHORUS (X2
Sadat X: Dollar bill y'all
Dollar bill y'allDollar dollar dollar dollar dollar bill y'all
It takes money
Sadat X: to get that fly ass ho
It takes money
Sadat X: to see me rock a live show
It takes money
Sadat X: to get that last bag of smoke
Cause they kindly take from it when that ass was broke
Hey yo I'm about to g-off
Just like my name was Ed-o

For The Conceited Woman...

often your talk
boils down to how attractive you are
or have been

and i just keep on listening
i think i must give you the challenge of shane:

walk down the road
have a hundred dollar bill in your hand
make a man choose: sex with you or the hundred dollar bill.

it's fine with me: i'll give you a hundred more.

Having-Less-Is-More

Money isn't 'everything' you know?

'Ooooohhh mon ami,
Big dummy you!

YOUR money may not be 'everything'.
Or not nearly what it use to be.
However...
SOMEWHERE someone is spending it,
Caring less about your limitation.
Or who has good or bad or indifferent credit.
And they have yet to accept greed as a motive,
To live a happy life! '

I am not referring to foreigners,
I am talking about us...
Living today in 'this' country.

'Oh?
I see.
So you've already adopted,
That 'Having-Less-Is-More' attitude?
Good for you.
You make me proud.
But as for me...
Give me a ten dollar bill anytime.
Even a five dollar bill,
Seems less than a dollar these days.'

Another Lot Of Things You Shouldn’t Do

Never date Wonder Woman
you will never know what she might do.
She could toss her golden lariat
and choke the truth out of you.

Never date Superman
when he asks you to take a flight with him.
He might dropp you
as he waves to the crowd below.

Never date Spiderman
on any given day.
He might leave dangling in his web
while he is called away.

Never date Batman
because you will never be alone.
He has always got a Robin
bobbing along behind.

Never ever date Dodgy Dave The Vicar
because he’ll preach all night to you
and just to top that
you’ll be chased by Vera with a rolling pin in hand.

Fast Buck Freddie

He said hold a dollar bill up to the mirror
And Ill show you something funny
Its only a fast buck, but
Its so hard to make that kind of money.
Now its hard to get serious when the joker
Is laughing
And by now the joker is wild
Its hard to keep laughing when a rich mans
Reflection
Looks like a gun thats gonna smile
Whats going on, I ask you
Whats going on, can you see?
Whats going on, I ask you and
Whos coming on, is it you or me?
Coming on while its still soft and warm
Burn it dry before the fiery storm
Sing it now while you still have a song
Grab on now while youre still feeling strong.
How long, how long would you like it
How long, how long will it be
How long, how long can we take it?
How long before we take it back, you and me
Think fast.
I was thinking that I should be singing along
Think fast I think hes coming thru
Think fast, he thinks hes running you
I was thinking that I should be singing along
Think fast, he thinks hes coming in
Think fast, I think hes wearing thin
I was thinking that I should be singing along
Think fast, hes taking all your time
Think fast, you know hes out of line
But who cares, you know you can, you will, you
Know you can.
Sing it now while you still
Sing it now while you still
Sing it now while you still have a song.

The Silver Dollar

You gave me something, grandpa
A coin of silver - flat and round
But it doesn't whirr or whistle
It cannot make a sound

It is not marked with 'China'
On a toy that is a must
It only bears this simple line
'U.S.A In God We Trust'

This thing you gave me grandpa
Of this there is no doubt
It doesn't laugh and giggle
When I push it in and out

It has no pretty colors
No buttons or a bow
It makes no noise or vibrate
No volume 'high' or 'low'

So of what good is it grandpa
This shiny little thing?
What fun will come with having it
What laughter will it bring?

I tell you this, my loving one
My grandchild oh so dear
The truth about this silver coin
That you might wish to hear

Now take up the silver coin
Travel back in time with me
And think of those who owned it
In your mind now can you see?

To touch the silver dollar
And to make the feeling last
Is to touch all those who held it
And to touch the history past

To hold it and to feel it
Is to hold the spirits trapped therein
To think of where it lingered
And to wonder where its been

When we think of those who owned it
Then we think of those who tried
To give you all you wish for
From the toil for which they died

Well, I'll tell you of this silver coin
And how it comes to you
From a mine in Colorado
Or the mountains of Peru

Perhaps it's silver touched The Inca
Upon his emerald crown
Or was inlaid in the Spanish sword
That brought the empire down

Valley Forge or Flanders Field
Or perhaps on Concord Green
At Shiloh Church or Gettysburg
Who knows what the silvers' seen?

The silver out of which it's made
It self has witnessed much
But then a coin from it was made
And again felt history's touch

On a birthday or a Christmas
Perhaps it bought a little toy
And delighted those who got it
A little frontier girl or boy

A whiskey for a cowboy
In some small Texas town
Who had to wash away the trail dust
So he laid this dollar down

A Yank or Rebel soldier
Might have held it in his hand
A groom may have used this dollar
To buy his loved one's wedding band

It may just have been there
That day when all seemed lost
When fire rained down on Hawaii's Pearl
Perhaps this dollar saw the cost

Of what use is this silver coin?
Oh, my princess, don't you see?
That what I give you with this gift
Is a piece of history

Million Dollar Face

You were hungry for the lights,
You spent your nights with socialites
Youre a million-dollar baby
With the million dollar blues
And you only gave your time to people you could use
Million dollar face with million dollar grace
You got off to a real bad start
Million dollar face in million dollar lace
You wound with a two cent heart
You were mine for just a little while
But true to style and with a smile you said,
I have to leave you, baby, hold me one more time
cause I know where I should be and its a long hard climb
Million dollar face with million dollar grace
You got off to a real bad start
Million dollar face in million dollar lace
You wound with a two cent heart

Hes Misstra Know-it-all

Hes a man
With a plan
Got a counterfeit dollar in his hand
Hes misstra know-it-all
Playin hard
Talkin fast
Makin sure that he wont be the last
Hes misstra know-it-all
Makes a deal
With a smile
Knowin all the time that his lies a mile
Hes misstra know-it-all
Must be seen
Theres no doubt
Hes the coolest one with the biggest mouth
Hes misstra know-it-all
If you tell him hes livin fast
He will say what do you know
If you had my kind of cash
Youd have more than one place to go oh
Oou... oou... oou oou... oou...
Any place
He will play
His only concern is how much youll pay
Hes misstra know-it-all
If he shakes
On a bet
Hes the kind of dude that wont pay his debt
Hes misstra know-it-all
When you say that hes livin wrong
Hell tell you he knows hes livin right
And youd be a stronger man
If you took misstra know-lt-alls advice oh oh
Oou... oou... oou oou... oou...
Hes the man
With a plan
Got a counterfeit dollar in his hand
Hes misstra know-it-all
Take my work
Please beware
Of a man that just dont give a care no
Hes misstra know-it-all (look out hes coming)
Dum bum bum ba bum bum,
Dum bum bum ba bum bum
Bum bum bum bum bum say
Hes misstra know-it-all
Can this line
Take his hand
Take your hat off to the man whos got the plan
Hes misstra know-it-all
Every boy take your hand
To the man thats got the plan
Hes misstra know-it-all
Give a hand to the man
That you know hes got the plan
Hes misstra know-it-all
Give a hand to the man
Dont you know darn well hes got the super plan
Hes misstra know-it-all
Give a hand to the man
You know damn well hes got the super plan
Hes misstra know-it-all
If we had less of him
Dont you know wed have a better land
Hes misstra know-it-all
So give a hand to the man
Although youve given out as much as you can
Hes misstra know-it-all
Check his sound out
Hell tell it all

Saw Mill (set I)

Once I was a slave at the sawmill
Talk about a poor boy, talk about a poor boy
Let me have a dollar bill
My work was so hard at the sawmill
Talk about a poor boy, talk about a poor boy
Let me have a dollar bill
See my teardrops falling down my wife left this sawmill town
She said sawmill's life had been a sin
The gravy were much too thin
I can't work no more at the sawmill
Talk about a poor boy, talk about a poor boy
Let me have a dollar bill
If you take your wife to the sawmill
How you gonna please her, how you gonna please her
When she wants a dollar bill
She'll run away and leave you at the sawmill
Women like a dollar, women like a dollar. Yes and women always will.
See my teardrops falling down my wife left this sawmill town
She said sawmill's life had been a sin
The gravy were much too thin. I can't work no more at the sawmill

Is That Askin' Too Much

(Donny Lowery/Craig Wiseman)
Some people say theres no American dream
I hear them talkin' but they dont say a thing
I still believe youve got to give it to get
Baptize your every aspiration in sweat
I vow my head each night and roll up my sleeves
Cause buddy its a long hard road to Easy Street
Where all the cars go
Fast, fast, fast
When you step on the gas, gas, gas
Nobody else is gonna pass me up going down the road
I want a great big house on the hill
Every pocket full of hundred dollar bills
Givin me a thrill, thrill, thrill I aint never known
Is that asking too much
Am I over the line
Am I way out of touch
Tell me am I losing my mind
I know I wont never get enough
Is that asking too much
Ive never been accused of dreaming too small
I never saw no shame in wanting it all
I guess thats just the curse of being born poor
No matter what you got you always want more
Everybody wants a lot, a little inside
Im not the only one with hungry eyes
That wants a car that goes
Fast, fast, fast
When you step on the gas, gas, gas
Nobody else is gonna pass me up going down the road
I want a great bid house on the hill
Every pocket full of hundred dollar bills
Man, givin me a thrill, thrill, thrill I aint never known
