Motel Sex (and The Filthy Socialist Pig)
It used to be that capitalists
were often called bad names.
Now Strauss-Kahn, the Socialist
Has had his walk of shame.
This strong and strident Socialist
Clad in his birthday suit,
Trapped a maid at his hotel
and dashed in hot pursuit.
He forced the young black immigrant
to get down on her knees.
He grabbed her hair within his fist
and made sure that he was pleased.
The suite where the assault occurred
goes for megabucks a night.
Shouldn’t a strident Socialist
use Motel Six by right?
Of course they’d be no mini bar-
just a dresser, bed and chair.
The chambermaid is eighty
and her looks don’t rate a stare.
It’s true she won’t do windows,
and her figure rates a yawn
But she probably won’t report him
And she’s leaving the lights on.

The Socialist And The Suffragist
Said the Socialist to the Suffragist:
'My cause is greater than yours!
You only work for a Special Class,
We work for the gain of the General Mass,
Which every good ensures!'
Said the Suffragist to the Socialist:
'You underrate my Cause!
While women remain a Subject Class,
You never can move the General Mass,
With your Economic Laws!'
Said the Socialist to the Suffragist:
'You misinterpret facts!
There is no room for doubt or schism
In Economic Determinism–
It governs all our acts!'
Said the Suffragist to the Socialist:
'You men will always find
That this old world will never move
More swiftly in its ancient groove
While women stay behind! '
'A lifted world lifts women up,'
The Socialist explained.
'You cannot lift the world at all
While half of it is kept so small,'
The Suffragist maintained.
The world awoke, and tartly spoke:
'Your work is all the same:
Work together or work apart,
Work, each of you, with all your heart–
Just get into the game!'

The Premier and the Socialist
The Premier and the Socialist
Were walking through the State:
They wept to see the Savings Bank
Such funds accumulate.
"If these were only cleared away,"
They said, "it would be great."
"If three financial amateurs
Controlled them for a year,
Do you suppose," the Premier said,
"That they would get them clear?"
"I think so," said the Socialist;
"They would -- or very near!"
"If we should try to raise some cash
On assets of our own,
Do you suppose," the Premier said,
"That we could float a loan?"
"I doubt it," said the Socialist,
And groaned a doleful groan.
"Oh, Savings, come and walk with us!"
The Premier did entreat;
"A little walk, a little talk,
Away from Barrack Street;
My Socialistic friend will guide
Your inexperienced feet."
"We do not think," the Savings said,
"A socialistic crank,
Although he chance just now to hold
A legislative rank,
Can teach experienced Banking men
The way to run a Bank."
The Premier and the Socialist
They passed an Act or so
To take the little Savings out
And let them have a blow.
"We'll teach the Banks," the Premier said,
"The way to run the show.
"There's Tom Waddell -- in Bank finance
Can show them what is what.
I used to prove not long ago
His Estimates were rot.
But that -- like many other things --
I've recently forgot.
"Advances on a dried-out farm
Are what we chiefly need,
And loaned to friends of Ms.L.A.
Are very good, indeed,
See how the back-block Cockatoos
Are rolling up to feed."
"But not on us," the Savings cried,
Falling a little flat,
"We didn't think a man like you
Would do a thing like that;
For most of us are very small,
And none of us are fat."
"This haughty tone," the Premier said,
"Is not the proper line;
Before I'd be dictated to
My billet I'd resign!"
"How brightly," said the Socialist,
"Those little sovereigns shine."
The Premier and the Socialist
They had their bit of fun;
They tried to call the Savings back
But answer came there none,
Because the back-block Cockatoos
Had eaten every one.

A Capitalist, a Socialist and a Poet
A Capitalist, a Socialist and a Poet
Capitalist: What profit's there to be made?
Socialist: And how the workers will get paid?
Poet: Forget potatoes and your stocks,
The beauty's in the shining locks
Of my sweet darling-there she is-
An angel gliding through the breeze.
Capitalist: That's fine and dandy. What's the price
Of that sweet bosom and those eyes?
What is the bottom line, my friend?
Socialist: This dreamy nonsense has to end-
With millions walking unemployed,
What beauty's there to enjoy?
Poet: And in the starlight late at night
I see my lady burning bright,
And that is all I really need-
No public good or private greed-
I want my freedom just to be
Away from life's banality.
Capitalist: Good luck, my friend, but then again
You could've been a richer man.
Socialist: And while your comrades starve and hurt,
All you can think of is some flirt,
Who steals men's wallets and their hearts,
While you pursue your foolish art.
Poet: Foolish or not, and who decides
What to extol or to deride,
What we imagine, what we seem,
What we aspire to and dream?
And do we know who we are
Beyond some house or a car,
Beyond our jobs, beyond this life
That starts at nine and ends at five?
Capitalist: You could, my friend, be self-employed.
Socialist: Or one of many unemployed.
Poet: I find my meaning in my art,
While beauty lies within the heart
And shared equally with all,
Igniting passion in the soul,
Beyond appearances and lies,
Beyond demand, beyond supply,
Beyond your wealth or state control-
Mine is the freedom of the soul
To love and dream and to behold
The beauty of the natural world.
Not to despise, and not to claim
To have some answers to your game
Of rich and poor - it's all the same -
I want to live before I die
My life - not someone else's lies.

Hotel Chambermaid
Thanks to [email protected] for these lyrics.
When the lights are low you know I'm going to go
To my hotel chambermaid
I'm going to jump the garden and come on hard all night
While the river's rolling outside the window
Going to see her going to get love
Going to shut the bellboy out tonight
When the world is dead I'm going to make the bed
With my hotel chambermaid
She'll bring the coffee in the morning with a smile
She don't ask where I come from
I crept in and I soon will be done
Going to shut the bellboy out tonight
I ain't got a million dollars
No one I can call mine
But I'll push on cushion me some way
Ain't got no future at least that's what they say
This girl is going to take those kind of blues away
Hotel chambermaid
Hotel chambermaid
Room service can you help me
I want a hotelchambermaid
I didn't pay my bill but then I had my fill all night
While the river's rolling outside the window
Going to see her going to get love
Going to shut the bellboy out tonight
While the river's rolling outside the window
Going to see her going to get love
Going to shut the bellboy out tonight

Someone Not Worthy to Deceive
If I came to the aid of my neighbor struggling...
Would I be then declared a socialist?
If I offered shelter to those homeless and hungry,
Would I be a liberal?
With an agenda that was 'leftist'?
In these United States,
When I was taught to pledge alligence...
To a white and red star encrusted flag.
I believed myself and others together...
To be patriotic and of this we were glad.
But as I look upon this land,
With a separateness done.
And racism to overcome!
I'm stunned by the selfishness,
Of those whose interests...
Are only to feed their greed.
And leave others on the street,
With nothing to eat!
If I came to the aid of my neighbor struggling...
Would I be then declared a socialist?
If I offered shelter to those homeless and hungry,
Would I be a liberal?
With an agenda that was 'leftist'?
And would I care if the 'haves'
Stop to stare at me as if I were trash?
And when they prepare to go to sleep at night...
Are they aware I rest peacefully,
With my eyes closed tight?
I doubt it.
They perceive of me,
As someone not worthy to deceive.
And certainly I'm not a 'conservative'...
Motivated by division and isolated by greed.
'Remember when political choices,
Were either Republican or Democrat?
Now there are subdivisions with divisions within them.'

So Incoherent
French class a total disaster, I was incoherent,
trying to vent passionate anger about the issue
of Dominique Strauss-Kahn - Tristane Banon
and her celebrated mother, Anne Mansouret
who actually named Tristane ‘Anne-Caroline ‘
she later changed her name, the absent mother
sighed; Tristane only remembers a nanny who
hit her – Anne told her not to press charges
against Dominique at the time, Anne revealed too
late that she had relations with Kahn herself, and
violent too – allowing her daughter to remain in
the dark, Tristane went to him with a provocative
title which invited dramatic violence in illustration
of male aggression; he assumed daughter knew
of the mother’s relations with him - naming her
daughter after herself led to Tristane reliving
her mother’s mistake - but my presentation to
explain Kahn’s callous attitude fell through -
I was so incoherent…
[Tristane Bannon wrote a book, still to be
published, about politicians called “Erreurs
avouées, au masculin” inviting speculation
from Strauss-Kahn that she was au courant
re. her mother’s doings, her mother is Anne
Mansouret - and Dominique Strauss-Kahn
is awaiting trial in the USA - charged with
violence against a Guinean immigrant,
Nafissatou Diallo]

Tempting (Love Poem)
It’s five in the morning and five legs from La Paz,
Leaving you is so hard to do these days,
Vienna apartment bed is too tempting and warm.
Lufthansa to London is ice cold Teutonic charm,
Followed by an endless walk in terminal three.
A cosmopolitan coagulated soup of human cargo,
Onomatopoeia of Chicoutimi en route to Chicago,
In “The Bank Job” bad guys got away - that’s new.
Then it’s First to Miami and missionaries on 922,
Dowdily intent on saving souls in the land of coca.
It’s five in the morning again in airless El Alto at last,
A million peasants to save and salteña for breakfast,
Good for me that they all still need to call for advice,
To say “Hi”, “Bye” and “Why? ” in this socialist paradise,
The challenge of change and the pursuit of profit.

From The Jesus Papers....
the question we have to ask ourselves
is whether Jesus would be a member of the present
Christian church?
would He choose to be American?
or would He walk the starving roads of Africa?
would He flee with the women and children
in the countries bombed?
would He be a political force,
or a political dissident?
would He be a capitalist, a socialist, or an anarchist?
would He self immoliate with the Tibetan monks
in the name of freedom?
would He carry the bodies out of the mines?
would He hold the addict's hands?
would He call capital punishment justice, or murder?
would He turn His back on the poor, the homeless, and the jobless?
would He be white, black, or brown?
would He condemn? or walk in compassion?
would He hate Muslims, Buddhists, and atheists?
would He be a patriot, or a rebel?
would you let Him in your house?
would He be an illegal immigrant?
would He throw the money changers out of Wall Street?
out of Washington? out of the church?
would you Know Him if you met Him?
