Calm At Sea

SILENCE deep rules o'er the waters,

Calmly slumb'ring lies the main,
While the sailor views with trouble

Nought but one vast level plain.

Not a zephyr is in motion!

Silence fearful as the grave!
In the mighty waste of ocean

Sunk to rest is ev'ry wave.

Sabrina

Isle of the ocean, say, whence comest thou?
The smoke thy dark throne, and the blaze round thy brow;
The voice of the earthquake proclaims thee abroad,
And the deep, at thy coming, rolls darkly and loud.

From the breast of the ocean, the bed of the wave,
Thou hast burst into being, hast sprung from the grave;
A stranger, wild, gloomy, yet terribly bright,
Thou art clothed with the darkness, yet crowned with the light.

Thou comest in flames, thou hast risen in fire;
The wave is thy pillow, the tempest thy choir;
They will lull thee to sleep on the ocean's broad breast,
A slumb'ring volcano, an earthquake at rest.

Thou hast looked on the isle — thou hast looked on the wave —
Then hie thee again to thy deep, watery grave;
Go, quench thee in ocean, thou dark, nameless thing,
Thou spark from the fallen one's wide flaming wing.

Sail On Sailor

I sailed an ocean, unsettled ocean
Through restful waters and deep commotion
Often frightened, unenlightened
Sail on, sail on sailor
I wrest the waters, fight neptunes waters
Sail through the sorrows of lifes marauders
Unrepenting, often empty
Sail on, sail on sailor
Caught like a sewer rat alone but I sail
Bought like a crust of bread, but oh do I wail
Seldom stumble, never crumble
Try to tumble, lifes a rumble
Feel the stinging Ive been given
Never ending, unrelenting
Heartbreak searing, always fearing
Never caring, persevering
Sail on, sail on, sailor
I work the seaways, the gale-swept seaways
Past shipwrecked daughters of wicked waters
Uninspired, drenched and tired
Wail on, wail on, sailor
Always needing, even bleeding
Never feeding all my feelings
Damn the thunder, must I blunder
Theres no wonder all Im under
Stop the crying and the lying
And the sighing and my dying
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor

The speech of silence

The solemn Sea of Silence lies between us;

I know thou livest, and them lovest me,

And yet I wish some white ship would come sailing

Across the ocean, beating word from thee.

The dead calm awes me with its awful stillness.

No anxious doubts or fears disturb my breast;

I only ask some little wave of language,

To stir this vast infinitude of rest.

I am oppressed with this great sense of loving;

So much I give, so much receive from thee;

Like subtle incense, rising from a censer,

So floats the fragrance of thy love round me.

All speech is poor, and written words unmeaning;

Yet such I ask, blown hither by some wind,

To give relief to this too perfect knowledge,

The Silence so impresses on my mind.

How poor the love that needeth word or message,

To banish doubt or nourish tenderness!

I ask them but to temper love's convictions

The Silence all too fully doth express.

Too deep the language which the spirit utters;

Too vast the knowledge which my soul hath stirred.

Send some white ship across the Sea of Silence,

And interrupt its utterance with a word.

The Flood Has Lifted Up

The flood have lifted up, O lord
Down deep below sea level, New Orleans.
The mighty water came, O lord
Down deep below sea level, New Orleans.
God gonna trouble the waters, O lord
Down deep below sea level, New Orleans.
Many people lost homes and lives, O lord
Down deep below sea level, New Orleans.

Beauty Of Silence

The beauty of silence is,
When there are no mistakes
The beauty of silence is,
When there is no time to hate
The beauty of silence is,
When there is nothing to explain
The beauty of silence is,
When there is no time to diminish in pain

Lust for every love
Dreams of entire reverie
Beget the pins & pains
Of lies in the stygian of mind

The beauty of silence is, when there's no one to divulge.
The beauty of silence is, when we see in divergent views.
The beauty of silence is, when there's only you.

Ulla, Or The Adjuration

'Thou'rt gone!–thou'rt slumb'ring low,
With the sounding seas above thee;
It is but a restless wo,
But a haunting dream to love thee!
Thrice the glad swan has sung,
To greet the spring-time hours,
Since thine oar at parting flung
The white spray up in showers.

There's a shadow of the grave on thy hearth and round thy home;
Come to me from the ocean's dead!–thou'rt surely of them–come!'

'Twas Ulla's voice–alone she stood
In the Iceland summer night,
Far gazing o'er a glassy flood,
From a dark rock's beetling height.

'I know thou hast thy bed
Where the sea-weed's coil hath bound thee;
The storm sweeps o'er thy head,
But the depths are hush'd around thee.
What wind shall point the way
To the chambers where thou'rt lying?
Come to me thence, and say
If thou thought'st on me in dying?

I will not shrink to see thee with a bloodless lip and cheek–
Come to me from the ocean's dead!–thou'rt surely of them–speak!'

She listen'd–'twas the wind's low moan,
'Twas the ripple of the wave,
'Twas the wakening osprey's cry alone,
As it started from its cave.

'I know each fearful spell
Of the ancient Runic lay,
Whose mutter'd words compel
The tempest to obey.
But I adjure not thee
By magic sign or song,
My voice shall stir the sea
By love,–the deep, the strong!

By the might of woman's tears, by the passion of her sighs,
Come to me from the ocean's dead!–by the vows we pledg'd–arise!'

Again she gazed with an eager glance,
Wandering and wildly bright;–
She saw but the sparkling waters dance
To the arrowy northern light.

'By the slow and struggling death
Of hope that loath'd to part,
By the fierce and withering breath
Of despair on youth's high heart;
By the weight of gloom which clings
To the mantle of the night,
By the heavy dawn which brings
Nought lovely to the sight,

By all that from my weary soul thou hast wrung of grief and fear,
Come to me from the ocean's dead–awake, arise, appear!'

Was it her yearning spirit's dream,
Or did a pale form rise,
And o'er the hush'd wave glide and gleam,
With bright, still, mournful eyes?

'Have the depths heard?–they have!
My voice prevails–thou'rt there,
Dim from thy watery grave,
Oh! thou that wert so fair!
Yet take me to thy rest!
There dwells no fear with love;
Let me slumber on thy breast,
While the billow rolls above!

Where the long-lost things lie hid, where the bright ones have their home,
We will sleep among the ocean's dead–stay for me, stay!–I come!'

There was a sullen plunge below,
A flashing on the main,
And the wave shut o'er that wild heart's wo,
Shut,–and grew still again.

Silence of Rumi

I read Rumi several times
And every time I went through
the same sincere silence
That unites the human with the divine
Silence of Rumi as though
Is the silence Sublime—
The heart of all sounds!

I dove deep down that silence,
A child’s wonder of sort
Why do I start my poems with words?
When they end only with silence!
His silence is deep
Deep as the existence at the bottom of the ocean
Deep as the calmness of a wise man
And yet he is in conversation
With the silence
And through it, time and again

His silence is the silence of a flute
Empty, easy and melodious
It turns separation into liberation
Oh what a joy—Rumi’s silence!
His silence is an invitation
To join the journey of the soul
A sweet beacon to lose yourself
In the Self of existence
And yet it is conversational
You can toy with it safely

Who can turn his back
Having heard Rumi’s silence
In its sincerity
In its entirety
Who can escape from Rumi’s silence
Having been there for a moment
Who can not hear his silence
Having heard it with the thumps of his heart

Oh love! Go and meet this evening
Silence of Rumi in its serenity
Of heavens
This must be the highest
Of souls
This is the highest!

The Melancholic Silence

It's night - darkest than ever
reigned by silence - a dreadful silence
Extending till the far horizon...
is the silence forecasting the impending calamity
That's going to befall upon the entire humanity?
Is the silence forecasting the eternal despair
As we are heading towards a murky future?
For the world's changed...
Changed are its views...
Regarding Love, kindness and all human values...
In return of love. one receives hatred...
The innocent & the weak are the ones to be exploited.
It's night... reigned by silence- a dreadful silence
It's not the peace giving silence
That inspires the poets and sages
This silence seems to take vengeance
From the selfish mortals
The silence is strange- full of agony
Is it an alarm of our fearful destiny?

Silence Is...

Silence is an absence
Silence is profound
Silence is a conversation
Being had without sound
Silence is an expression
One that cannot be heard
Silence cannot be spoken
Although it is a word
Silence is a presence
Of great nothingness
Silence can be something
And yet cease to exist
Silence can fill a room
And have no mass at all
Silence cannot be dropped, yet it can fall
Silence is a mystery
That will forever go unsolved
Silence is how every sound can swiftly be dissolved
Silence is the sound of rest
The only sound that can sound best
While other sounds can cause great pain
Silence is not the sound to blame
For Silence is what silence is
Something that is nothing
Nothing that exists

Silence, a weapon

Silence misread, one is misled.
Silence taken for ‘no’ costs chances.
Silence taken for ‘yes’ brings trouble.
Silence over read, the goal is lost.
Silence under read, the bus is missed.
Silence is a mysterious weapon,
With which the clever get away.

Eternal Silence

Silence
Silence when we are walking,
Silence when we think,
Silence is what fills us all,
With a binding eternal link.

Silence in the little children,
Silence in the adults,
Silence wrapping around us all,
Silence pulsing in the walls.

Silence fills this hollow world,
Silence is the choice we make,
Silence is the death of this all,
Silence is our fate.

Deep Deep Ocean

I heard you call my name
Why do you sit in silence
When theres a whole world waiting
Between these islands
I lay my love down to make you this bridge
But when the tide runs out
Im still at the waters edge
Theres a deep deep ocean
I want to find out what you hide inside of that
Deep deep ocean
Whats it take for you to be satisfied
You walk alone at night
So secretive and quiet
I hear the roar of your heartbeat
So why do you deny it
Hold me and show me my love cant be wrong
And Ill be swept away
By the storm beneath your calm
Theres a deep deep ocean
I want to find out what you hide inside of that
Deep deep ocean
Whats it take for you to be satisfied
If you keep holdin back emotion
One of us might drown in this deep deep ocean
Whats it gonna take
Whats it gonna be
When you gonna break and open up to me

Silence In Battle

Shapeless shadows, in silence listening,
Deepest feelings in restraint,
A silent voice calls in mournful feeling,
We move in silence, voices faint.

Harmful silence touches the soul,
A larger loneliness laid untold,
So speak only when you must,
Infinite dread, a knife's deep thrust.

Darkness and silence lay so long,
Self control from dusk to dawn.
Awful darkness and silence reign,
Over the lifeless, barren, Iraqi plain.

Crouching down when nothing stirs,
Mysterious night, we temper her.
Rocklike hardness in our mind,
Tryant silence steals our time.

No echo sounding when I speak,
Body trembles, silence deep.
We shall remain thousands of miles away,
Uneasy silence, dreadful day.

Rocked In The Cradle Of The Deep

Rocked in the cradle of the deep
I lay me down in peace to sleep;
Secure I rest upon the wave,
For Thou, O Lord! hast power to save.
I know Thou wilt not slight my call,
For Thou dost mark the sparrow's fall;
And calm and peaceful shall I sleep,
Rocked in the cradle of the deep.

When in the dead of night I lie
And gaze upon the trackless sky,
The star-bespangled heavenly scroll,
The boundless waters as they roll, -
I feel Thy wondrous power to save
From perils of the stormy wave:
Rocked in the cradle of the deep,
I calmly rest and soundly sleep.

And such the trust that still were mine,
Though stormy winds swept o'er the brine,
Or though the tempest's fiery breath
Roused me from sleep to wreck and death.
In ocean cave, still safe with Thee
The germ of immortality!
And calm and peaceful shall I sleep,
Rocked in the cradle of the deep.

Fear of a loss

Ring, ring
That was phone,
Mum answered
In a moment
Lost in time
my mum was gone
Granny on the couch
Nervous, anxious, fearful

A Quiet, deathly silence
Filled the emptiness

We were told to pray
I dared not ask why
Praying, wondering, still dared not ask
Then the memory, gripping
Daddy hadn’t come home that day
Fearing the unknown
Dared not question
Fear of hearing
Fear of knowing
Fear of loss

Ring, ring
Granny answered,
Questions, silence, gripped by fear
Bravely, she spoke what we dared not ask
What we feared we would hear
Daddy was gone
We lost him
In the silence of this night
He passed on, quietly
As he had passed through this life
Through our lives

The silence continued
Time had stopped
The heavy quietness
The ominous silence
Overwhelmed my senses

Fear
Loss
My fear of loss
No longer a fear
A reality now

Whispers In Sounds

Only the eyes that see through a thousand distance can understand.
Only the ice of the antarctic could reveal the mystery of the sand.
Only the creations of the beauty aquatics could tell the story of the waters.
But who could tell the mystery behind the sun?
Man...Rows of shell, crest of the ark, blues and blues of enshrined complexity.
Sparks and flashes of wave-like sounds, streaming like the flush of the stream of purity.
Flies and mushrooms, sighs and whispers of silence.
Man, with support from the eternal, campus the band of the material.
Silence, silence cried, just silence, silence whispers.

Silence to silent me, I silently weep
Away in silence for silence to hear

Thinking peacefully in silence I cease

All the silence, that silence be

the silence of our beds

Dead Shells

not at all times that we stay on the deep
portion of the river we get tired sometimes
our limbs soft and weary we long for a little rest
a place where there is only foam and bubbles
and the sand and pebbles touching our pelvic bones.

there. On the shallow waters we rest our weary souls.
No thoughts. Just descriptions.

No descriptions. Just silence.
No silence. Just a driftwood.

No feelings at all. Numb and dumb.
Dry leaf buried on the sound. Dead shells.
