John Alden And Percilly
We got up a Christmas-doin's
Last Christmas Eve--
Kindo' dimonstration
'At I railly believe
Give more satisfaction--
Take it up and down--
Than ary intertainment
Ever come to town!
Railly was a _theater_--
That's what it was,--
But, bein' in the church, you know,
We had a '_Santy Clause_'--
So 's to git the _old folks_
To patternize, you see,
And _back_ the institootion up
Kindo' _morally_.
Schoolteacher writ the thing--
(Was a friend o' mine),
Got it out o' Longfeller's
Pome 'Evangeline'--
Er some'rs--'bout the _Purituns_--.
_Anyway_, the part
'_John Alden_' fell to _me_--
And learnt it all by heart!
Claircy was '_Percilly_'--
(Schoolteacher 'lowed
Me and her could act them two
Best of all the crowd)--
Then--blame ef he didn't
Git her Pap, i jing!--
To take the part o' '_Santy Clause_,'
To wind up the thing.
Law! the fun o' practisun!--
Was a week er two
Me and Claircy didn't have
Nothin' else to do!--
Kep' us jes a-meetin' round,
Kindo' here and there,
Ever' night rehearsin'-like,
And gaddin' ever'where!
Game was wo'th the candle, though!--
Christmas Eve at last
Rolled around.--And 'tendance jes
Couldn't been surpassed!--
Neighbors from the country
Come from Clay and Rush--
Yes, and 'crost the county-line
Clean from Puckerbrush!
Meetin'-house jes trimbled
As 'Old Santy' went
Round amongst the childern,
With their pepperment
And sassafrac and wintergreen
Candy, and 'a ball
O' popcorn,' the preacher 'nounced,
'Free fer each and all!'
Schoolteacher suddently
Whispered in my ear,--
'Guess I got you:--_Christmas-gift_!--
_Christmas is here_!'
I give _him_ a gold pen,
And case to hold the thing,--
And _Claircy_ whispered '_Christmas-gift_!'
And I give her a _ring_.
'And now,' says I, 'jes watch _me_--
Christmas-gift,' says I,
'_I'm_ a-goin' to git one--
'_Santy's_' comin' by!'--
Then I rech and grabbed him:
And, as you'll infer,
'Course I got the old man's,
And _he_ gimme _her_!

My Number One Christmas
What I want for Christmas is something you can not see,
It’s the love of a special lady who means the world to me
Waking up on Christmas day with you laying next to me,
This is my ideal Christmas it would seem just like a fantasy
At Christmas time we give presents, eat and drink which is grand,
But the only thing I want is for you to hold my hand
Pulling crackers, telling jokes and family games are fun,
Having you by my side would make this my Christmas number one
Watching telly in the afternoon of repeated films from the past,
Cuddling up to you on the sofa is all that I ask
Waving goodbye to all the family at the end of a long day,
Knowing its now just me and you to tidy up, clean the dishes and put them away
Another Christmas over its now all part of the past,
It’s still my favourite Christmas although long it didn’t last
Turning off the lights and going up to bed
Giggling about the silly things we done and I probably said
As we cuddle up under the covers I watch you drift off to sleep,
I wonder why can’t this moment last for at least a week
As I cuddle up to you and slowly close my eyes,
I think this is my best Christmas ever because it’s with you and that’s something I can’t deny.

All I Want Is You This Christmas
Snowy night
Where its warm here by the fire
Here with you (here with you)
I have all that I desire
Its been a long year
But somehow we got by
Now its christmas eve
And love is on our side
I dont need a hundred gifts beneath the tree
Dont you know the best thing you could give to me
Nothin else will do,
All I want is you this christmas
Children sing (children sing)
Christmas carols at our door
Spreading joy, (spreading joy)
Thats what christmas time is for
Though we dont have much
Youve got me and Ive got you
And with a little faith
Miracles come true
And I dont need a hundred gifts beneath the tree
Dont you know the best thing you could give to me
Nothin else will do,
All I want is you this christmas
I dont want the love any other girl
I want only thing in this whole wide world
Nothing else will do
All I want is you this christmas
Cheek to cheek
The lights are low
A kiss beneath the mistletoe
Your face lit by the fires glow thats all I want tonight
And I dont need a hundred gifts beneath the tree
Dont you know the best thing you could give to me
Nothin else will do,
All I want is you this christmas
Nothing else will do
All I want is you this christmas

Give Love On A Christmas Day
people making lists, buying special gifts,
It's a time to be kind to one and all
It's that time of year when good friends are dear
And you wish you could give more
Than just presents from a store
Why don't you give love on christmas day (on christmas day)
Oh even the man who has everything
Would be so happy if you would bring
Him love on christmas day (on christmas day)
No greater gift is there than love
People you don't know smiling out hello
Everywhere there's an air of christmas joy
It's that once a year, when the world's sincere
And you'd like to find a way
To show the things that words can't say
Why don't you give love on christmas day (on christmas day)
The man on the street and the couple upstairs
All need to know that there's one cares
Give love on christmas day (christmas day)
No greater gift is there than love
What the world needs is love
Yes the world needs your love
Why don't you give love on christmas day (on christmas day)
Oh every little child on santa's knee
Has room for your love underneath his tree
Give love on christmas day (christmas day)
No greater gift is there than love
What the world needs is love
Yes the world needs your love
Give love on christmas day (christmas day) ...

When Lide Married _Him_
When Lide married _him_--w'y, she had to jes dee-fy
The whole poppilation!--But she never bat' an eye!
Her parents begged, and _threatened_--she must give him up--that _he_
Wuz jes 'a common drunkard!'--And he _wuz_, appearantly.--
Swore they'd chase him off the place
Ef he ever showed his face--
Long after she'd _eloped_ with him and _married_ him fer shore!--
When Lide married _him_, it wuz '_Katy, bar the door!_'
When Lide married _him_--Well! she had to go and be
A _hired girl_ in town somewheres--while he tromped round to see
What _he_ could git that _he_ could do,--you might say, jes sawed wood
From door to door!--that's what he done--'cause that wuz best he could!
And the strangest thing, i jing!
Wuz, he didn't _drink_ a thing,--
But jes got down to bizness, like he someway _wanted_ to,
When Lide married him, like they warned her _not_ to do!
When Lide married _him_--er, ruther, _had_ ben married
A little up'ards of a year--some feller come and carried
That _hired girl_ away with him--a ruther _stylish_ feller
In a bran-new green spring-wagon, with the wheels striped red and yeller:
And he whispered, as they driv
Tords the country, '_Now we'll live!_'--
And _somepin' else_ she _laughed_ to hear, though both her eyes wuz dim,
'Bout '_trustin' Love and Heav'n above_, sence Lide married _him_!'

The Thing That's Wrong With Christmas
The thing that's wrong with Christmas is
It's based on get not give.
And most who give but do not get
React with expletives.
There are a few who give and yet
Want nothing in return.
But they're a breed so rare that they've
A place in Glory earned.
The stores proclaim that Christmas is
'The giving time of year',
For when we give, the stores all get,
Then grin from ear to ear.
Their Christmas ads so feed our greed
And further twist our minds,
That most believe, by owning things,
That happiness we'll find.
But Christmas greed hurts kids the most.
They're taught how not to live.
They wake up eager Christmas morn
To get instead of give.
Bah Christmas!
Bah Humbug!
Christmas is Sin
WHEN CHRISTMAS IS SIN
I do not say Christmas is sin
when it is not sin.
But I say Christmas is sin
because it is sin and no sin.
Christmas is sin when
fathers honours a day not learned.
Christmas is sin when
mothers test, the hand of their husbands.
Christmas is sin when
hardship become harder.
Christmas is sin when
the price of rice rises to rank
and garri grabs guts.
Christmas is sin when
man go drunk and
mothers give birth to beggars.
Christmas is sin when
silence knocks out the gun sound.
Christmas is sin when
men sees with their ears
Christmas is sin when
Tourist is occupied with naked women.
For Christmas is Christmas
as Christmas is an anniversary of the
crucification.
‘’If you love me; keep my commandment
Says the Lord’’
Who then can be happy for the birth of an enemy?
Christmas is no sin, when Christmas is Christ,
but Christmas is sin, when Christmas is crime.

Christmas Comes
Christmas comes with children singing,
Christmas comes with sleigh bells ringing,
Christmas comes with frosty nights,
Christmas comes with snowball fights.
Christmas comes with Santa Claus,
Christmas comes with snowy floors,
Christmas comes with robins and reindeer,
Chsitmas comes with a hearty cheer.
Christmas comes with gold, frankincense and myrrh,
Christmas comes with Jesus' birth,
Christmas comes with angels from afar,
Christmas comes with a wondrous star.
Christmas comes now, at last,
Christmas comes, like in the past,
Christmas comes after such a long wait,
Christmas comes and it will be great.

Christmas

(Christmas)
The snow's coming down
(Christmas)
I'm watching it fall
(Christmas)
Lots of people around
(Christmas)
Baby please come home
(Christmas)
The church bells in town
(Christmas)
All ringing in song
(Christmas)
Full of happy sounds
(Christmas)
Baby please come home
They're singing 'Deck The Halls'
But it's not like Christmas at all
Cuz I remember when you were here
And all the fun we had last year
(Christmas)
Pretty lights on the tree
(Christmas)
I'm watching them shine
(Christmas)
You should be here with me
(Christmas)
Baby please come home
They're singing 'Deck The Halls'
But it's not like Christmas at all
Cuz I remember when you were here
And all the fun we had last year
(Christmas)
If there was a way
(Christmas)
I'd hold back this tear
(Christmas)
But it's Christmas day

Everything's Gonna Be Cool This Christmas
Remember last year when you were on your own
You swore the spirit couldn't be found
December rolled around and you were counting on it to roll out
But everything's gonna be cool this christmas
Everything's gonna be cool this christmas
Everything's gonna be cool this christmas
Well everybody's waiting for you down at the house
The tree is looking so inspired
There's a yuletide groove waiting for you to move
Come on and throw another log on the fire
And everything's gonna be cool this christmas
Everything's gonna be cool this christmas
Everything's gonna be cool this christmas
Baby jesus, born to rock
As the days go by, the more that we need friends
And the harder they are to find
If i could have a friend like you in my life
Then i guess i'd be doing just fine
And everything's gonna be cool this christmas
Everything's gonna be cool this christmas
Everything's gonna be cool this christmas

On This Christmas Day
I saw your picture in the paper
I didn't know your name
But the pain was there for all to see
As the snow turned to rain
I saw your picture didn't know what to do
A lonely face in the crowd
In that moment when the world stood still
And tears lay on the ground
Wherever I go, I will think of you
Whatever I do, whatever I say on this Christmas Day
A silent a prayer on the street
Is it Heaven that has the final word?
With the world at your feet
Wherever I go, I will think of you
Whatever I do, whatever I say on this Christmas Day
On this Christmas day
Wherever I go, I will think of you
Whatever I do, whatever I say on this Christmas Day
Wherever I go, I will think of you, I will be with you
On this Christmas Day

On A Snowy Christmas Night
(words & music by stanley j. gelber)
Midnights prayers so softly whispered in
A cathedrals candle light
Bring the message of the holidays
On a snowy christmas night
Holly reeds and hidden mistletoe
Symbols of the seasons might
Joyful faces everywhere you go
On a snowy christmas night
Give thanks for all youve been blessed with
And hold your loved ones tight
For you know the lords been good to you
On a snowy christmas night
Mother nature wears a bridal gown
For the world is dressed in white
Theres a silent glow that fills the earth
On a snowy christmas night
For you know the lords been good to you
On a snowy christmas night

What Christmas Means To Me
christmas
is for love
friends and family
christmas
is for peace
joy and happiness
christmas
is for having fun
laughing and talking
christmas
is for everyone
the rich and the poor
that's what christmas means to me
the presants don't mean a thing
unless you made it
or it came from the heart
cause the best gift of all
doesn't glitter or sparkle
it's not raped in ribbon or paper
it doesn't cost a thing
the best gift of all
comes from the heart
it's a song that you share
or a smile that you start
the best gift of all
doesn't come from the store
it's time spent
with you and me

I Have You Something For Christmas
I have you something for christmas
That you can't find inside of a box
It won't need no ribbons or bows
Yet it'll keep you warmer than wool socks
I have you something for christmas
But it will have to be a big surprise
I wish I could get a picture of you
With that look in your eyes
I have you something for christmas
It is something that you may never guess
But, when you get it, come Christmas morning
You just may think it was the best
I have you something for christmas
It is something you just can't buy in a store
No matter where you may look
From ocean shore clean to ocean shore
I have you something for christmas
I'm debating on just how to send
But to give you a little clue
Just let me say 'I LOVE YOU MY FRIEND! '

Christmas Is Love
Written by rich alves, t.j. knight, and jerry taylor
Its that time of year when the whole world is heart tot heart
You can feel love all around you, you can see it everywhere
Christmas is love, its in the songs were singing
Christmas is love, its families comin home
Christmas is love, its on the childrens faces
Christmas is love
Christmas is love, a warm and friendly feeling
Chirstmas is love, hear the church bells ring
Christmas is love, its sharing in the giving
Christmas is love
We all gather round, watch the lights dancing on the tree
The spirit of the season, you feel it in the air
Christmas is love, its in the songs were singing
Christmas is love, its families comin home
Christmas is love, its on the childrens faces
Christmas is love, a warm and friendly feeling
Chirstmas is love, just hear the church bells ring
