The Father's Lament
How can you bid this heart be blithe,
When blithe this heart can never be?
I've lost the jewel from my crown -
Look round our circle, and you'll see
That there is ane out o' the ring
Who never can forgotten be -
Ay, there's a blank at my right hand,
That ne'er can be made up to me!
'Tis said, as water wears the rock,
That time wears out the deepest line;
It may be true wi' hearts enow,
But never can apply to mine.
For I have learn'd to know and feel -
Though losses should forgotten be -
That still the blank at my right hand
Can never be made up to me!
I blame not Providence's sway,
For I have many joys beside;
And fain would I in grateful way
Enjoy the same, whate'er betide.
A mortal thing should ne'er repine,
But stoop to supreme decree;
Yet oh! the blank at my right hand
Can never be made up to me.

Blank
Blank pages, blank lines
Blank heart, blank mind
Blank feeling, blank soul
Blank high, blank low.
I dont know why
You just cant see
That all you've ever known
Is the blank side of me.
Blank
I wish I was blank
I wish I was blank
I wish I could thank
I wish I was blank
I'd write a letter to you
And there'd be nothing to it
I wouldn't hem and haw
On just how to start it
I wish I was blank
I wish I was blank
I wish I could thank
I wish I was blank
I wish I'd stand up straight
I wish I'd said things different
I wish I'd said nothing
Things would be so perfect
I wish myself to keep
I pray my soul to sleep
I wish myself away
I wish I was blank

Blank Pages
Blank pages
Blank books
Lie with only drowning white
No pretty messages in the sand
No clocks to turn a hand
Blank pages
Blank books
Looking into an empty void
Like staring at purgatory
Words with no meaning making up a story
Blank pages
Blank books
Stay staring at the celing
Empty without effort
Nothing without words

Youve Forgotten
Youve been passed around from hand to hand
Cast upon the darkest sands
Now youre so confused that you can hardly stand
Forgotten, youve forgotten now youre on the run
Forgotten, youve forgotten
How to live beneath the sun
How to live beneath the sun
Before you left I thought I knew
That you would always need me too
I never thought someday, that Id be telling you
Youve forgotten, youve forgotten
The things you used to feel
Forgotten, youve forgotten
How to smile for real
How to smile for real
And for the changes you have made
Your beauty was the price you paid
All your dreams rose up and then you watched them fade.
Youve forgotten, youve forgotten
Youve forgotten, youve forgotten
The best is always yet to come
The best is always yet to come
The best is always yet to come
And how to live beneath the sun

Blank Page
Blank page leave me be!
Blank page please stop taunting me,
reminding me of what I have failed to do.
Oh how I long to fill you,
to take up your very last line
with creative, riveting lyrics of mine.
Blank page stop harassing me!
I wish to show you my thoughts,
desires, emotions and all.
How difficult it is to answer your call.
Blank page how sweetly you whisper
tempting my pen to caress your paper.
I immaturely expect the verses to flow
then I realize that my thoughts are much too slow.
Blank page so often you defeat me
teasing and challenging until hours later
all that is left is the tiny dot
where my pen merely touched your paper.

Blank Walls
it is time to have blank walls
something to start with
where you are more careful with
what to write and
what to draw
you think twice, thrice
before you start your scribbles for
you once drew a cat
and it didn't work well with the dog
which she drew first
you should have talked to her
so everything that you plan
to put on this blank wall
might as well have harmony
& peace & beauty, like the way
she painted her own blank space
with all black colors, and she gave you
an impression of the darkest night
you tried to put some stars and
a full moon to brighten the darkness
of her thoughts, and perspectives
she did not like it
she was in deep mourning, she was very sad
depressed with what happened
when she was a young girl in their house
she set aside the stars and she told you she hated the moon
and you kept your silence and opted to put there the whispers of
wind and the hush of the sea
again she did not like it
the wind made her vomit and the sea made her very sick till
you finally gave up
with the way the blank wall had been painted
and the manner by which she wanted to take it all to herself
you know what was really proper
you said there is still a blue boat on the blank wall
and it is leaving soon finding a new world..... now sailing on

Semper Fidelis
THINK you, had we two lost fealty, something would not, as I sit
With this book upon my lap here, come and overshadow it?
Hide with spectral mists the pages, under each familiar leaf
Lurk, and clutch my hand that turns it with the icy clutch of grief?
Think you, were we twain divided, not by distance, time, or aught
That the world calls separation, but we smile at, better taught,
That I should not feel the dropping of each link you did untwine
Clear as if you sat before me with your true eyes fixed on mine?
That I should not, did you crumble as the other false friends do
To the dust of broken idols, know it without sight of you,
By some shadow darkening daylight in the fickle skies of spring,
By foul fears from household corners crawling over everything?
If that awful gulf were opening which makes two, however near,
Parted more than we were parted, dwelt we in each hemisphere,--
Could I sit here, smiling quiet on this book within my hand,
And while earth was cloven beneath me, feel no shock nor understand?
No, you cannot, could not alter. No, my faith builds safe on yours,
Rock-like; though the winds and waves howl, its foundation still endures:
By a man's will--'See, I hold thee: mine thou art, and mine shalt be.'
By a woman's patience--'Sooner doubt I my own soul than thee.'
So, Heaven mend us! we'll together once again take counsel sweet;
Though this hand of mine drops empty, that blank wall my blank eyes meet:
Life may flow on: men be faithless,--ay, forsooth, and women too!
ONE is true; and as He liveth, I believe in truth--and you.

There Is Nothing To Write
WELL, FACE THE BLANK WALL
STARE TO THIS BLANK WALL
THERE IS NOTHING TO THIS BLANK WALL
IT IS BLANK
IT IS EMPTY
IT IS A HINDRANCE TO WHAT I WANT TO SEE
IT IS AN OBSTRUCTION
TO WHAT I WANT TO BECOME
THIS WALL
THIS WALL IS MY JAIL
MY PRISON
MY BLINDNESS
THIS WALL MUST BE TORN
THIS WALL MUST BE BOMBED
THIS BLOCK
THIS WEARINESS OF THE HEART
THIS TIREDNESS OF THE SOUL
THIS MALADY OF BEING NOTHING
THIS HAVING NOTHING AT ALL
THERE IS NOTHING TO WRITE
THERE IS NOTHING
THERE IS
now i will write about something
from above

The child tastes the tear
The tear is made of salt
The tear is made of water
The tear is made of the sea
But you cannot swim in it
The tear can leak down the cheek
The tear is like a good rhyme
The child wipes away the tear
The wipe is made of the hand
The hand is made by…who
The child thinks of the hand
The hand can shake a hand
The hand can slap a cheek
The hand can wipe the tear away
The hand and tear are made
The child is thinking
I am made too

Life Has Its Little Ups And Downs
I don't know how to tell her,
That I didn't get that raise in pay today,
And I know how much she wanted the dress in Baker's window,
And it breaks my heart to see her have to wait,
And cancel all the plans she made to celebrate.
But I can count on her to take it with a smile and not a frown,
She knows that life has its little ups and downs,
Like ponies on a merry-go-round,
And no one grabs the brass ring every time,
But she don't mind,
She wears a gold ring on her finger,
And it's mine.
The new house plans we've had so long,
I guess will gather dust another year,
And the daffodils are blooming that she planted way last fall,
Upon the hill, and over by the gate,
And Lord knows I hate to say again we'll have to wait.
But you can bet that she'll just take it with a smile and not a frown,
She knows that life has its little ups and downs,
Like ponies on a merry-go-round,
And no one grabs the brass ring every time,
But she don't mind,
She wears a gold ring on her finger,
And I'm so glad that it's mine,
She wears a gold ring on her finger,
And I'm so glad that it's mine.

One
We are the lost
The ones forgotten
And this time
The future is our's
It's in our hands
We're the tear in your eyes
We're the blood in your vains
We're the beat of your heart
We're the sweat on your face
We're the ones that you chase
We're the promise that you made
We're the voice in your head
We're the lies that you said
We're the kids that you pushed away
We are
We are the the lost
The ones forgotten
And this time
The future is our's
It's in our hands
We are one
We're the pride of your lives
We're the light shining deep in your eyes
We're the choice that you made
We're the smile on your face
When you sleep at night
We're the best thing you had
But you left us behind
We're the kids that you pushed away
We are
We are the the lost
The ones forgotten
And this time
The future is our's
It's in our hands
We are one
One
We're the pain that you feel
We're the scars that don't heal
We're the tear in your eyes
We're the reason you cry
We're the voice in your head
We're the lies that you said
We're the best thing you had
But you pushed us away
We are the lost
The ones forgotten
And this time
The future is our's
It's in our hands
We are
We are the lost
The ones forgotten
And we've got nothing to lose
Together we stand up tall
We are one

Youth And Death
What hast thou done to this dear friend of mine,
Thou cold, white, silent Stranger? From my hand
Her clasped hand slips to meet the grasp of thine;
Here eyes that flamed with love, at thy command
Stare stone-blank on blank air; her frozen heart
Forgets my presence. Teach me who thou art,
Vague shadow sliding 'twixt my friend and me.
I never saw thee till this sudden hour.
What secret door gave entrance unto thee?
What power in thine, o'ermastering Love's own power?

Blank Sheet Of Paper
I'm just a blank sheet of paper
This fool's about to write you a letter
To tell you that he's sorry
For the way he did you wrong
To ask for forgiveness
For leaving you alone
He's been looking down at me seems like forever
he takes the top on and off his pen
It's like he can't decide
Just what he wants to say
If he'd just tell the truth
I'd be on my way
Chorus
But he just stares at me
And i just stare at him
He don't know where to start
To say he doesn't want it to end
And now it's one hour later (four hours later)
I am still a blank sheet of paper
Sunlight is shining through the curtains
He's almost asleep pen in hand
There's a tear in his eye
That refuses to fall
If it would land on me
That would say it all
Repeat Chorus
And he just stares at me
And i just stare at him
He don't know where to start
To say he wants it back again
And now one broken heart later
I am still a Blank sheet of paper

Plain Gold Ring
Earl s. burroughs
Plain gold ring on his finger he wore
It was where everyone could see
He belonged to someone, but not me
On his hand was a plain gold band
Plain gold ring has a story to tell
It was one that I knew too well
In my heart it will never be spring
Long as he wears a plain gold ring
Oh, oh
When nighttime comes a callin on me
I know why I will never be free
I cant stop these teardrops of mine
Im gonna love him till the end of time
Plain gold ring has but one thing to say
Ill remember till my dying day
In my heart it will never be spring
Long as he wears a plain gold ring
Plain gold ring on his finger he wore
Plain gold ring on his finger he wore
Plain gold ring on his finger he wore

Dear Heart Of Mine
Dear heart of mine
have you become like me?
Lost and forlorn in reverie?
Have you forgotten all the nights
when your rapid beats were felt?
I have not forgotten his tender touch
that made me want to melt.
Dear heart of mine
what's to become of you and I?
Now so somber,
before so high.
Is there a time in our future
where hope won't die?
You must help me to forget
and to say goodbye.
Dear heart, dear heart please try.

I Wanna Be Your Man
You're such a pretty little thing
I wanna put a wedding ring on your finger
Baby can't you see that we were meant to be together
Yeah the joinin' of our hearts is written in the stars
We've got a love made in heaven
So baby take my hand I wanna be your man forever
Well I can't think of anyone else it's true
All day long there's no one on my mind but you
And I have loved you since you were a little girl
You mean everything to me and you're all I'll ever need in this world
You're such a pretty little thing
I wanna put a wedding ring on your finger
Baby can't you see that we were meant to be together
Yeah the joinin' of our hearts is written in the stars
We got a love made in heaven
So baby take my hand I wanna be your man forever
Every time I look into your eyes I see
The one I want beside me for eternity
You could make me the happiest man alive
By settin' up a date and takin' my name for life
Ah you're such a pretty little thing
I wanna put a wedding ring on your finger
Baby can't you see that we were meant to be together
Yeah the joinin' of our hearts is written in the stars

Made By Hand
made by hand....
dreams woven
in a fine cloth....
steps made of stone,
laid one upon the other.
shelter made of oak,
cut and hauled,
nailed together in the sun,
able to stand the night.
this window made of glass,
allowing light and dark
to intertwine....
this old bed made of pine....
the path to the doorway
laid with pine needles....
this old door always open....
the light always on....
this heart made by hand,
waiting for you,
in this stillness...
made by hand!

I Am All That I Could Be
I am all that I could be,
My future self resides in me.
That so much I know,
Yet for knowledge there is no cure
Perhaps best left to blank space pure.
Blank canvas, memory whitewash,
No face.
Rise ash into flame,
From born another name
And I’m sinking here
In the darkness that we call fear,
Into the shadow land,
Into another’s hand,
Possession is ensured.
Of life I am but cured,
Dying of life and new,
All blues I thought I swam,
All thoughts I thought I knew,
But never did I know,
Never did I show you the way you made me feel,
One more kiss and I’ll be real.
So serpent goddess, needle young,
Glistening lips and fork love tongue,
We are old who once were young,
We are strung our stories sung.
I am all that I could be.
