Thank offering

The hunter draws his bow string back.
Then quick released the arrow flies
so fast the eye cannot keep track.
Pierced through the heart a young stag dies.
The clan will feast on meat tonight.
Their appetites well satisfied,
they praise the goddess of night
who keeps their wants and needs supplied.
These simple folk with simple ways.
a clan of hunter gatherers
are wise enough to offer praise
to the moon goddess: She who cares
for all her children man and beast
in gratitude for tonights feast.

Coventry in November

They say it was a Hunter’s moon
The night the City died
They say it was a hunter’s moon
The day the people cried

They say it was a hunter’s moon
That took our house away
They say it was a hunter’s moon
When the devil came to stay

An ageing now I’d like to know
Won’t someone tell me soon,
Why the reaper came to mow
in the light of the hunter’s moon

Praise Ye the Triune God

Praise ye the Father! For his loving-kindness,
Tenderly cares he for his erring children;
Praise him, ye angels, praise him in the heavens,
Praise ye Jehovah!

Praise ye the Spirit! Great is his compassion,
Graciously cares he for his chosen people;
Young men and maidens, ye old men and children,
Praise ye the Savior!

Praise ye the Spirit! Comforter of Israel,
Sent of the Father and the Son to bless us;
Praise ye the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Praise ye the triune God!

The Sacrifice storypoem

She wore a robe so white and thin
that it enhanced her nakedness.
Made of the silk which spiders spin
Epitome of gracefulness

Her hair as black as ebony,
contrasting with her rose gold skin.
Which unrestrained was flowing free
She glowed as though she had within,

her slender form of flesh and blood.
A light that would illuminate
the darkness of the world and would
without a doubt propitiate.

The Gods demanding sacrifice.
According to the High Priests rede,
only a virgin would suffice.
To satisfy his dark Gods need.

The clan believed his rede was true
And so she went quite willingly.
To pay the God What he was due
ad so ensure fertility.

of flocks and crops, increase their yield.
Improve the clan’s prosperity
In truth the High Priests rede concealed
his innate taste for cruelty.

She lay upon the altar stone
and showed no slightest sign of fear.
The high Priest bared his blade of bone
and then although the sky was clear.

A bolt of lightning from the blue
struck down the priest as he deserved.
The Goddess had decided to
insist her rules should be observed.

The maiden lived and she became
in course of time the high priestess.
She governed in the goddess’ name
Rewarded for her faithfulness.

The wicked high priest had to die
because he had led the clan astray.
A truth that no one can deny.
The high priestess would lead the way.

The Goddess would protect the clan
as long as they obeyed her laws.
Though she would strike dead any man
whose bad behaviour gave her cause.

The Mother Goddess would supply
sufficient for her children’s need.
As long as they lived righteously
and followed her High Priestess’ lead

The willing sacrifice became
the chosen of the true Goddess
and now held power in her name.
Authority to curse or bless.

She serves her clan still faithfully
as she was always willing to
Speaks for the Goddess honestly,
does as the Goddess bids her do.

Willing to die to serve her clan.
The Goddess decreed that she should live
to implement the goddess’ plan.
And claimed the life she chose to give.

She’d live a life of servitude
as guardian of the sacred lore.
A mother to the multitude
who looked to her to keep the law.

Chosen to be a sacrifice
Which she accepted willingly
the goddess changed things in a trice
which she could do quite easily.

Though she would sacrifice her life
to serve the clan for all her days.
Forgo the chance to be a wife
to follow in the goddess’ ways.

Pheasants? ? ?

I was there in that land beyond the sea
The night was the blackest....that...
It ever could be...
When guns to the left... and... then to the right...
Cut loose... with such chatter...
I came out of my hole... emptying a clip...
Shouting... what the Hell was the matter...

Then with the adrealin in my gut...
And on my back of my neck...
There stood all my hair...
Through the night...till morning...
Turned out...nothing was there

By the early morning light...
My unit started to howl...
The Great White Hunter had been shot...
Because of his late night prowl...
I thought at first he... he...looked like a
Great Horned Owl

Now... as lunch time came...
My unit and I had prepared the feast...
That white ringed neck... owl... pheasant....
We made ready...to eat...
He was surprised...that Great... White... Hunter...
That pheasant laid out...cooked...
Covered with K-Ration butter....

Forty men all had said...look lets..after we feast...
We are very tired...and we'll finally get some sleep...
But to that one...that mighty hunter....
What you shoot...you eat...
You know the rule...it's the code
That unwritten law...in your heart today...it now abodes

Well I...and thirty-eight others...
Ate K-rations...saltines...and drank water...
I can honestly say...I had in my life...No better feast...
But..Brombaugh...Well...he had pheasant... and we made sure
That he ate...every dammed little piece...

To The Sunflower Goddess

i once wrote a poem
for you sunflower goddess

each word is tainted
with my blood
each line is drawn
within the perimeters
of my aching heart

i look for you sunflower
goddess
i am the moon

you are destined for
the harshness of the noonday sun

tonight you will be mine
but you are dead
sunflower goddess

i will bury you in the embrace of my golden sheen
tonight
my witness shall be a hundred stars

Lonely Is The Hunter

There is a thing out there that lives in the dark
Lamented into dust is the crow
A star shining in the sky
In the darkened night

A filling taste it is
Lonely is the hunter in the days
Of them we are
Of they there are none
Two times the rooster crows
In the days of the lonely hunter

Hope dead and cold
Lonely is the hunter
None nearby lonely is the hunter

Tombs filling the heart
Lonely is the hunter
The hunter is he

The Snake

Like sable coils of twisted cord that glisten in the light,
Scales round with tiger stripes are scored, death spoiling for a fight.
Draped on a stump - a tree long dead, bone dry in heat of day;
A flickering fork from poisoned head that smells the air for prey.

Mulberry bow; Black fletched with crow: an arrow, notched, half drawn.
The boy, the hunter, stealing slow, makes not a sound to warn.
The serpent looks with steely eyes, that see no danger yet.
Though close below its burrow lies, the hunter's trap is set.

A powerful arc, a full drawn bow; The snake in mortal fear,
It dashes for its den below, an arrow thudding near.
A blur of sleek uncoiling rings, swift down the hole it glides;
The bow string twangs, the arrow sings, through flesh and bone it slides.

The threshing tail flies side to side, a writhing lashing whip;
Escape from certain death denied, held in the arrow's grip.
The hunter draws it from its lair, lays on the ground his prize;
The vanquished of a contest fair, like bloodied rope it lies.
And so plays out the ancient duel ‘twixt snake and son of man;
Lays slain the fleeing serpent cruel, as in the Maker's plan.

To the Memory of Claude Marquet

Because to him the wise gods gave
Rare gifts, to lesser folk denied,
He might have thriven, Mammon's slave,
Rich in the goods that small men crave,
But poor in all beside.

And yet, because his was the pride
Possessed by earnest men and brave,
He stayed by his weak brothers' side
And there he fought, loved, laughed and died,
And went, loved, to his grave.

Because his was the simple heart
That found small lure in pelf or praise,
For greater ends he plied his art,
And, asking little, played his part
A rich man all his days.

The simple heart, the single aim
That guided e'er his ready pen,
The gay indifference to Fame
Things such as these shall leave a name
Cherished 'mid fellow men.

And we who knew that steady gaze,
The open hand, the ready laugh,
The fighting face and kindly ways,
Know, too, his smiling scorn of praise.
Yet this for epitaph:

A fighter all his days was he,
Yet, dying, left no enemy.

Howling At The Moon

As I howl at the moon
I think of my true love
This moon I'm howling at has been in my heart for a long time
This moon is a Goddess and will be in my heart for eternity
Forever I will howl at this moon untill
I see this Goddess in my arms
Or untill I'm one with this Goddess

The Hunter’s Song

RISE! Sleep no more! ’T is a noble morn:
The dews hang thick on the fringed thorn,
And the frost shrinks back, like a beaten hound,
Under the steaming, steaming ground.
Behold, where the billowy clouds flow by,
And leave us alone in the clear gray sky!
Our horses are ready and steady.—So, ho!
I ’m gone, like a dart from the Tartar’s bow.
Hark, hark!—Who calleth the maiden Morn
From her sleep in the woods and the stubble corn?
The horn,—the horn!
The merry, sweet ring of the hunter’s horn.

Now, thorough the copse, where the fox is found,
And over the stream, at a mighty bound,
And over the high lands, and over the low,
O’er furrows, o’er meadows, the hunters go!
Away!—as a hawk flies full at its prey,
So flieth the hunter, away,—away!
From the burst at the cover till set of sun,
When the red fox dies, and—the day is done!
Hark, hark!—What sound on the wind is borne?
’T is the conquering voice of the hunter’s horn.
The horn,—the horn!
The merry, bold voice of the hunter’s horn.

Sound! Sound the horn! To the hunter good
What ’s the gulley deep or the roaring flood?
Right over he bounds, as the wild stag bounds,
At the heels of his swift, sure, silent hounds.
O, what delight can a mortal lack,
When he once is firm on his horse’s back,
With his stirrups short, and his snaffle strong,
And the blast of the horn for his morning song?
Hark, hark!—Now, home! and dream till morn
Of the bold, sweet sound of the hunter’s horn!
The horn,—the horn!
O, the sound of all sounds is the hunter’s horn!

Who is my God?

At a new moon in the jungle
Was brought to an altar
A roaring goat, fully black,

By an awesome peasant
To the fearsome Kali,
Made of granite, red in cloak,

Under arbour of a peepul,
Who before stood
At dawn of death, the poor goat

Like a bull in a fight,
Arresting the attention
Of everyone, unknown of his fate.

The beast was put to rites,
Smeared with sandal paste
And fully drenched in water

Till he shivered a jerk,
Which was taken as token of nod
By grace of Goddess for her feast.

The peasant was pleased;
The priest was pleased;
So were all, as though they’re blest.

One held his hind-legs,
Stretching them well behind,
The other bending up his front one,

The third locking his head
Hard onto the altar
For the priest to accomplish.

The act was done at a stroke
By the learned priest, merciless,
For the Goddess, all merciful.

Many-wards squirted the blood
Like a carpet, red,
Before the Goddess, her tongue dripping.

All felt that they had met
The thirst of Ma, full
As did a mother her child, ere asking.

The agony that was undergone,
Murder they committed,
And pathos that prevailed, who noticed?

The beheaded beast went straight,
To the feet of the Goddess,
“Ma, am I not your child?

If not, who is my Mother? ”
Her lids dripped,
She cursed for having been chiseled

Tonights The Night

Tonights the night, tonights the night
Tonights the night, tonights the night
Tonights the night, tonights the night
Tonights the night, tonights the night.
Bruce berry was a working man
He used to load that econoline van.
A sparkle was in his eye
But his life was in his hands.
Well, late at night when the people were gone
He used to pick up my guitar
And sing a song in a shaky voice
That was real as the day was long.
Tonights the night, yes it is, tonights the night
Tonights the night, yes it is, tonights the night.
Early in the mornin at the break of day
He used to sleep until the afternoon.
If you never heard him sing
I guess you wont too soon.
cause people let me tell you
It sent a chill up and down my spine
When I picked up the telephone
And heard that hed died out on the mainline.
Tonights the night, tonights the night
Tonights the night, tonights the night.
Bruce berry was a working man
He used to load that econoline van.
Well, early in the morning at just about the break of day
He used to sleep until the afternoon.
Tonights the night, yes it is, tonights the night
Tonights the night, tonights the night
Tonights the night, tonights the night
Tonights the night, tonights the night.

Tonight

Pattys working, but shes watching the clock
Shes in the back room counting stock
And down in a warehouse out by the dock
Jesses lifting crates and breaking rock
But when the whistle blows to end the daily fight
And the working forces turn out the light
Jesse takes that little girl and he holds her tight
As the day fades away he says
Were all that matters tonight
Tonights the night, I know Im right
And heart to heart, well make it tonight
So hold me tight, and love me right
The world can wait for tomorrow tonight
Patty comes like an angel and takes his hand
Jesse says, baby, Ive got a plan
He says, I wanna get married and make a stand
But theres just one thing you gotta understand
Now the pressure of living and the daily fight
Could hurt us in time if our perspective aint right
So shut the door and put out the light
And baby, be here, because were all that matters tonight
Tonights the night, I know Im right
And heart to heart, well make it tonight
So hold me tight, and love me right
The world can wait for tomorrow tonight
Break your back from nine to five
Sweating blood just to stay alive
Running home to the harbor light
Safe and warm, in love so right, tonight
Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight,
Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight
Tonights the night, I know Im right
And heart to heart, well make it tonight
So hold me tight, and love me right
The world can wait for tomorrow tonight
Tonights the night, I know Im right
And heart to heart, well make it t tonight
So hold me tight, and love me right
The world can wait for tomorrow tonight
Tonights the night, I know Im right
And heart to heart, well make it tonight

Goddess Of Love

(shes okay)
(shes okay)
(hey)
(shes okay)
(shes okay)
(hey)
Goddess of love
Goddess of love
She never slows down
And she cant get enough
The goddess of love
The goddess of love
Shes holding her heart to the stars above
She cant afford dreams
And her clothes are old
She cant afford hope
Wouldnt be so bold
But shes holding his heart
And she wont let go again
Shes a femme fatal
Well thats what they say
But she knows he couldnt love her
Any other way
Cause shes holding him now
And she wont let go again
Yes, shes holding him now
And she wont let go again
Goddess of love
Goddess of love
She never slows down
And she cant get enough
The goddess of love
The goddess of love
Shes holding her heart to the stars above
She never slows down
And she doesnt play straight
Just cruising around in her own sweet way
But shes taking her time
And hes gonna get fooled again
She learned about life
Til she wished shew were dead
So she treats that guy like a hole in the head
Can you see him now
Hell never get lucky again
Goddess of love
Goddess of love
She never slows down
And she cant get enough
The goddess of love
The goddess of love
Shes holding her heart to the stars above
The goddess of love (x6)
Heart and soul
Shes the goddess of love as she covers the gorund
She looks just great and she never slows down
And shes holding his heart and she wont let go again
Yes, shes holding his heart and she wont let go again
Oh, shes holding his heart and she wont let go again
Yes, shes holding his heart and she wont let go again
Oh, shes holding his heart and she wont let go again

Lonely Is The Hunter

My eggs in one basket, but she threw me a bone
She was dealt a full deck, but she likes to live alone
Aint just talkin to myself, need a reason to stop (oh yeah)
With a flower in her teeth, she drained the last drop
I said girls love money like bees the honey
But lonely is the hunter, youre my one and only, and lonely is the hunter
Asked her for a refill, sweat flew off my face (oh yeah)
Shes a legendary figure, kept me in a cage
Shes a torture chamber, when I seduced her in my bed (ooh yeah)
She gave a cold reading, success went to her head
In the heat of the battle the heart cannot rule, Im such a fool
But lonely is the hunter, youre my one and only, and lonely is the hunter
Lonely is the hunter, youre my one and only, and lonely is the hunter
Lonely is the hunter, youre my one and only, and lonely is the hunter
Lonely is the hunter, youre my one and only, and lonely is the hunter

The hunter

With a bow in his hand
the hunter sneaks
above the wind,
following the tracts
of the wild antelope.

His brown skin
melts into the field
and the bushes,
and like a wild cat
he sneaks
from cover to cover.

The sun is hot
where it hangs in the half-Kalahari sky
and he drinks a tiny bit of water
out of the ostrich egg flask,
before a brown hand
with caked sand
wipes sweat out of his dark brown eyes.

Again he takes the trail
and follows it at a jog
until the oryxes are closer
and again he sneaks nearer
and stalks still closer.

When he is in striking distance
an arrow is taken from the quiver
and the small bow’s string
made out of roped intestines draws
and for a moment,
it sounds like the buzz of a bee
while the arrow
rushes away from the bow.

The arrow hits the antelope
and when the startled oryx
rushes away
the hunter follows
faithful on the spoor,
till he finds it
where in time
it lies stretched out
on the red brown Africa sand.

Goddess Is Returning

Goddess is the emotion, God is the intellect.
Goddess is feminine, God is masculine in respect.
Goddess is coming back to renew her place
her place in humanity is where she will now grace.
Goddess's empathy that comes from the heart
will bring peace to humanity and make a new start.
Ending all wars, and ruthless acts
Goddess will bring feminine love which the Earth plane lacks.
Look to nature to see these truths
you know now Goddess will grow and not be refused.

Adrenaline Shock

As excitement trips synaptic traps, taps inner ocean tide
Deep within the spirit calling to the hidden beast inside,
Rising quicker, quicker falling, masterminding, unpoliced,
Electricity internal surges, impulse shocks released.
Now accept an opportunity for challenge set aside,
As hunter spies through camouflage the prey too long denied.
Listen as the heart beats faster, who is hunter, who is fleeced?
Is one servant, is one master, must it matter in the least?
New conundrum through the ear drum, sounding board plumbs, Fate defied.
Enterprising and surprising, tingles jingle far and wide,
SHed all hesitation information channelled, need to feast,
Open ended this excitement as red blood count is increased.
Cause, effect can come together as their patterns superpose
Kneeding, feeding, seeding needing more than many may suppose...
