Future Imperfect
Beneath a gray and weeping sky
I watched a horse drawn hearse go by
A sight we very rarely see
It seems to have more dignity
Than any slowly driven limousine
Two horses black as ebony
A well matched pair walk sedately
Almost as if the horses know
The must put on a finer show
Than any slowly driven limousine
The hearse itself is gleaming black
With etched glass windows in the back
Through which it’s possible to see
The coffin more respectfully
Than any slowly driven limousine
The cortege as it passes by
Is guaranteed to catch the eye
It is a sight that seemingly
Most people would prefer to see
Than any slowly driven limousine
Though fashions change there is a cost
The sense of dignity is lost
Although I’m sure they do their best
Nothing attracts less interest
Than any slowly driven limousine

Those were the Days
The horse drawn hearse impresses me
Drawn by a pair of well matched blacks.
Moves slowly onward sedately.
With an attendant at the back.
The coachman in dark livery.
A black crepe bow adorns his hat
Controls his horses easily
There can be little doubt of that.
It is a sight we rarely see.
In the busy world of today.
A horse drawn hearse traditionally.
Was seen to be the only way.
To embark on your last journey
To the local cemetery.

Mr. Limousine Driver
Hey, mr. limousine driver,
Can i ask you a favor, please?
Let her in my door and don't look back here no more,
I know you can do it with ease.
Although, we're on our way from the show,
And you don't like to get off the track.
Please, mr. chauffeur, let's talk things over,
'cause she says she loves me and that's a fact.
Can you hear what i'm sayin', it's not like i'm prayin',
You know, because you've done it before.
So, why make me wait, please don't hesitate,
Just get back here, and let her in my door.
Hey, mr. limousine driver,
I know you know where it's at.
Too late will be later, you just read your evening paper,
And don't worry 'bout what's goin' on in back.
Hey, mr. limousine driver ...
Hey, mr. limousine driver ...

Long Black Limousine
(words & music by v. stovall - b. george)
Theres a long line of mourners
Driving down our little street
Their fancy cars are such a sight to see, oh yea
Theyre all rich friends who knew you in the scene
And now theyve finally brought you
Brought you home to me
When you left you know you told me
That some day youd be returnin
In a fancy car, all the town to see, oh yea,
Well now everyone is watching you
You finally had your dream, yea
Youre ridin in a long black limousine
You know the papers told of how you lost your life, oh yea
The party, the party and the fatal crash that night
Well the race along the highway, oh the curve you didnt see
When youre riding in that long black limousine
Through tear filled eyes I watch as you pass by oh yea
A chauffeur, a chauffeur at the wheel dressed up so fine
Well I never, I never, never, never
Oh my heart, all my dreams yea, theyre with you
In that long black limousine
Yea, yea, theyre with you in that long black limousine
Yea, yea, theyre with you in that long black limousine

Driven
Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
Driven up and down in circles
Skidding down a road of black ice
Staring in and out storm windows
Driven to a fools paradise
But its my turn to drive
Driven to the margin of error
Driven to the edge of control
Driven to the margin of terror
Driven to the edge of a deep, dark hole
Driven day and night in circles
Spinning like a whirlwind of leaves
Stealing in and out back alleys
Driven to another den of thieves
But its my turn to drive
Driven in --- driven to the edge
Driven out --- on the thin end of the wedge
Driven off --- by things Ive never seen
Driven on --- by the road to somewhere Ive never been
Its my turn to drive
The road unwinds towards me
What was there is gone
The road unwinds before me
And I go riding on

A Song Of Spring
The Spring comes slowly up this way,
Slowly, slowly,
Under a snood of hodden grey.
The black and white for her array,
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.
Where is her green that was so gay?
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.
Unto a world too sick for May,
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.
Where are the lads that used to play?
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.
She has no heart for holiday,
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.
The trees are out in Heaven they say.
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up our way.

Driven Crazy or Crazy Driven
Are you driven crazy or crazy driven?
Are you driven by what people say OR are you crazy driven by an awesome day.
Are you driven crazy after a big fight OR crazy driven by a long night
If your driven crazy don't let anything get under your skin.
And if your crazy driven. It's your time to sin...

Hands Of Self Will
Why did the killer kill?
Driven to it. Like you are.
Driven to eat chocolate.
Opportunity offers. Sentient hands.
Fetishes cravings. Easily fulfilled.
Can’t help. Can’t help yourself.
Driven driven driven to it.
Like obese victim of self-driven
compulsive consumption.
Driven to it. To do it. Do it. Do it.
Like jaded junkie craving
each driven deadly dream
razored raw needle shot veins.
Seasoned alcoholic sucking last
pitiful drops desperately
fetish fevered tongue
dating neck dead empty bottle.
Clothed clotting vomit sweet
slow sickening soul
sucking addiction induced desires.
Driven to it. Demonic possession driven.
Like leeches carefully campaign causes
to save worthy world. Social crusaders
driven reflective reform in own image.
Driven Driven Driven By Hands
With A Will Of Their Own.
God alone can judge each betrayal
weigh each deed on cosmic scale.

Whatever
Theres no holding me back
Im not driven by fear
Im just driven by anger
And youre under attack
Just climbing up slowly
Im the one and only
The tease, the way you lie
The stumble in your mind
The fear, the hope inside
They hit here
Hit here
But whatever you need
Ever you got
Ever you want
Ill take back again
Whatever you need
Ever you got
Ever you want
Ill take back again
-INSTRUMENTAL BREAK-
Theres no holding me back
Im not driven by fear
Im just driven by anger
And youre under attack
Just climbing up slowly
Im the one and only

The fear, the hope inside
They hit here
Hit here
But whatever you need
Ever you got
Ever you want
Ill take back again
Whatever you need
Ever you got
Ever you want
Ill take back again
Though whatever you need
Ever you got...

But whatever you need
Ever you got
Ever you want
Ill take back again

Stranded In A Limousine
paul simon.
he was a mean individual,
he had a heart like a bone,
he was a naturally crazy man,
and better off left alone,
he stopped one nite, at a traffic lite,
and when that lite turned green,
he was a mean individual, stranded in a limousine.
hey, hey, hey,hey,
all the children on the street,
come running out their front doors,
running out their back doors,
flying on their feet,
they said mama oh, papa oh,
see what i have seen,
theres a mean individual,
stranded in a limousine.
then everybody come running,
everybody said, lordy lord,
everybody was gunning,
gonna divvy up the re-ward,
then wah wah wah wah wah wah wah,
a siren,
a flashing lite,
but the mean individual, had vanished in the black of nite.
hey hey hey
they wondered where to begin,
cos he left that neighborhood,
just like a rattlesnake, sheds its skin,
then they searched the roofs, and checked out the groups,
and they photographed the scene,
of the mean individual,
stranded in a limousine.

a flower car
and what do you prefer
white or red roses? and
the limousine,
black or white?
We may dispense with the surgeons
And the plumbers,
And the upholsterers,
Or the carpenters,
But we need the tailor
If you decide to have
New clothes
To fit his social status
We will provide the drapers,
And the hearse for the transportation,
Of course,
We are discussing your funeral
We go back again
To embalming choices,
10 days or 20 days?

Someone Elses Hog
(kenny chesney/david lowe)
Well I got a little girl and shes got a daddy
Whos got a lotta money and it makes me happy
To follow them around like a little whipped puppy dog
Well shes my honey but hes my sugar dad
This country boy aint doin too bad
Livin high on someone elses hog
Well, Im livin high on someone elses hog
I sit around all day like a twenty-four karat
Bump on a golden log
Well I traded that rusty ol gmc
Gotta long black cadillac limousine
Im a livin high on someone elses hog
Well this redneck boy from a blue-collar town
Has really moved up since he got tied down
I got a brand new life and I owe it to my daddy-in-law
Well he gave me a so-called executive position
Now I get up early every day and go fishin
Im a livin high on someone elses hog
Well, Im livin high on someone elses hog
I sit around all day like a twenty-four karat
Bump on a golden log
Well I traded that rusty ol gmc
Gotta long black cadillac limousine
Im a livin high on someone elses hog
Well, Im livin high on someone elses hog
I sit around all day like a twenty-four karat
Bump on a golden log
Well I traded that rusty ol gmc
Gotta long black cadillac limousine
Im a livin high on someone elses hog
Well I traded that rusty ol gmc
Gotta long black cadillac limousine
Im a livin high on someone elses hog

Heads, hands and legs
Some are over-driven, ambitious.
Some are duly driven, complacent.
Some are under-driven, lax and content.
Society needs them as heads, hands and legs.

Where’s Grandad
The hearse had been booked at the Co-op
for the Friday before the Goose Fair.
We paid for a top notch send off,
with a carriage and six to bear.
The hearse was well behind schedule
on the morning we were burying grandad.
The wind was howling and the sky was dark,
and it began to rain quite bad.
The coffin lay on the front room table
with the flag and white lilies on top.
My dad was anxiously twitching the curtains
until he saw the carriage and horses stop.
It had finally arrived to take grandad
to his resting place in the ground.
Six solemn bearers came into the house
and they never made a sound.
In the hearse they carefully placed the coffin,
then returned to their seating places.
But then they galloped off down the street
leaving us with rain soaked faces.
We ran to our cars and tried to catch up,
but the traffic lights didn’t go our way.
The next time we saw the shiny oak coffin
was by the grave, with the vicar about to pray.
Under umbrellas we gathered and watched
as the coffin was slowly lowered down.
Well after all that it didn’t turn out so bad,
except that we were at the burial of a Mrs Brown.

I've always thought of the project as a sort of sexually driven digestive system, that it was a consumer and a producer of matter. And it is desire driven, rather than driven by hunger or anything like that.

We all fault
Driven by money,
One loses friends and kin.
Driven by sex,
One has no qalm or shame.
Driven by hunger,
One has no propriety.
We all fault in all fronts
In variant degrees.

Time Passes Slowly
Time passes slowly up here in the mountains,
We sit beside bridges and walk beside fountains,
Catch the wild fishes that float through the stream,
Time passes slowly when youre lost in a dream.
Once I had a sweetheart, she was fine and good-lookin,
We sat in her kitchen while her mama was cookin,
Stared out the window to the stars high above,
Time passes slowly when youre searchin for love.
Aint no reason to go in a wagon to town,
Aint no reason to go to the fair.
Aint no reason to go up, aint no reason to go down,
Aint no reason to go anywhere.
Time passes slowly up here in the daylight,
We stare straight ahead and try so hard to stay right,
Like the red rose of summer that blooms in the day,
Time passes slowly and fades away.

Being Driven Right Out of My Mind
You got me shook up and my mind is gone!
I go to bed with all my house lights on.
I feel the thumpin' from those gansta beats.
Somebody's juggling balls of concrete.
And I drink tea...
To help me fall asleep.
You got me shook up and my mind is gone!
Oh oh.
I go to bed with all my house lights on.
Oh oh.
I feel the thumpin' from those gansta beats.
Oh oh.
And I drink tea.
To help me fall asleep.
It's after three...
And the walls are creaking.
And I'm,
Being driven right out of my mind.
Oh yes I'm,
Being driven right out of my mind.
And I'm,
Being driven right out of my mind.
Oh yes I'm,
Being driven.
I'm...
Being driven.
I'm...
Being driven.
I'm...
Being driven.
I feel the thumpin' from those gansta beats.
Oh oh.
And I drink tea.
Oh oh.
To help me fall asleep.
It's after three...
Oh oh.
And the walls are creaking.
And I'm,
Being driven right out of my mind.
Oh yes,
I'm being driven right out of my mind.
I find,
I'm being driven right out of my mind.
Oh yes,
I'm being driven.
I'm...
Being driven.
I'm...
Being driven.
I'm...
Being driven.

Victim to persecution
Then you talk a little more about your dreams,
How it involves your thought of rings,
a little more about your needs,
for i bit my tounge,
just for a feed,
for you drag me in the street,
ask me to forgive your mistakes,
put me in misery from your plea,
as i buckle from my knees,
It's slowly you drain my life,
It's slowly your evil consumes,
but what was it like?
It's slowly you drain my life,
It's slowly your evil consumes,
It's perjury on your arm,
that was put there by your soul,
your feeling sorry, for not achieving your goals,
tacking in your argument,
as you stated with your thought,
you bring me down,
and destroy my heart,
It's slowly you drain my life,
It's slowly your evil consumes,
but what was it like?
It's slowly you drain my life,
It's slowly your evil consumes,
Asking which way is out,
Asking which was not as hard,
Misdirected in your final mount,
as you shout,
cry your lungs out to stay afloat,
yet push me under,
strain to be felt,
pushing me down, holding my throat,
I started to feel the black,
and evil you call your safety boat,
It's slowly you drain my life,
It's slowly your evil consumes,
but what was it like?
It's slowly you drain my life,
It's slowly your evil consumes,
toss in the rope, pull it tight,
you might be something,
but what was it like?
examining it close,
you cross your path,
just get it right,
asking for the sight,
to see your destination,
falling victim,
to persecution,
put on a trial,
to discover if your human,
for your life,
failing to corruption,
of your mind,
sorry about how you felt,
but do you know yourself?
It's slowly you drain my life,
It's slowly your evil consumes,
but what was it like?
It's slowly you drain my life,
It's slowly your evil consumes! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
