Birthday Present
I was deprived as a small child.
I never had a teddy bear.
When I look back it makes me wild
I really think it was unfair.
I never had a cuddly toy
to keep me company in bed.
Perhaps because I was a boy.
It left me scarred it must be said.
I should have had a furry friend
that I could tell my troubles to.
A pal on whom I could depend
who’d never tell the things he knew.
But now I am deprived no more.
A teddy’s mine at seventy four.

The Lost Teddy
Once there was a little child who loved her teddy bear
She always has her teddy bear near her.
Her teddy bear keeps her happy when she’s asleep
The little child was in the bathroom, brushing her teeth
When a little fairy came in and took the little child’s teddy away
To a far away castle that no one knows about it
When the little child had finished doing her teeth, she notice her teddy was missing
She looked everywhere for the teddy
She was crying when she went to her mommy
The little fairy putted the little child’s teddy back on her bed
The little child went up to her bedroom thinking that her teddy was lost forever
But when she got to her bedroom, she saw her teddy lying at the end of the bed
She was so happy that she slept very well.

A Teddy Bear Is Forever
There’s a spot in the garden of childhood,
That children and adults can share;
A place in the heart and memory,
For one’s very own stuffed teddy bear.
Now, a little girl’s dolls will get broken,
And a little boy’s kites fly away,
But a soft, cuddly teddy’s forever,
When we’ve gotten too grownup to play.
And a young lady’s dreams may be dampened,
And a man sees his plans go astray,
But a teddy bear kept from our childhood,
Through life’s troubles will faithfully stay.
For whether it’s kept in a bookcase,
Or lying on top of one’s bed,
A teddy bear waits for it’s owner,
With eyes wide awake in it’s head.
And if all the world’s children were given,
The gift of a soft teddy bear,
We should see their glad faces,
Reflecting love and goodwill everywhere.

Hooked.
I’m sure, deprived of poetry
descent into insanity
would follow.Inevitably
It is my prime necessity
Poetry is my drug of choice.
Without it I would have no voice
either to lament or rejoice.
For I depend on poetry
to validate that I am me.
I am addicted hopelessly.

Perfect Gift
There's something precious children know,
Something they'll never lose,
Despite the fact that children grow,
Maturing in their views...
A Teddy Bear's a gracious friend,
A listener all the time,
A silent partner to life's end,
With patience so sublime...
A Teddy Bear won't interrupt,
Condemn or criticise,
No wonder that it's so well loved
With twinkles in its eyes...
As if it knows your little heart
Will blossom like the rose,
As if to choose the better part,
As true love overflows...
A Teddy Bear's so cuddly, too,
So snuggly and so warm,
As if its heart beats just for you,
Within its fragile form...
That's why you cuddle oh so much
And tell it all you can,
To keep it up-to-date and such,
As if it were your fan...
A Teddy Bear's a gentle soul,
So calm and so serene,
Somehow it maintains self-control,
No matter what it's seen...
If you throw tantrums, does it sigh?
It lets you speak your mind...
It waits until time passes by...
Till some new peace you find...
A Teddy Bear's a perfect gift
When Christmas comes along,
Because it gives your heart a lift,
If you let it belong...
Ask children and they'll tell you straight,
They like Winnie the Pooh!
Yet to their gracious friend, they'll state,
Dear Teddy, I love you...

My Blue Teddy Bear
The blue teddy bear smiled at me
The first time that we met!
It's a fact, he's always happy,
Not one sign of regret!
When I hold him, he holds me, too,
He's mine and mine alone...
So don't hurt him, I'm warning you!
Fair dos, go get your own!
My teddy sits upon my lap,
I read him fairy tales,
I hold his hands to help him clap,
Sometimes I trim his nails...
I let him ride upon my back
As I walk up to bed...
Then just us two will hit the sack
And no more words are said...
My teddy doesn't snore at all,
My teddy's too polite!
Some toys will drive me up the wall,
Yet teddy hates to fight!
He's full of love like no-one else,
He's truly my best friend,
So you play with your tinkerbells,
They drive me round the bend!
I'd rather play with teddy here
Than go and meet the Queen!
I'd rather hold my teddy near
And wash and keep him clean!
I put his waistcoat on again
And straighten up his tie
And compliment him there and then
And hold his head up high!
Oh, teddy, you're adorable,
You're handsome every day...
In fact, I think you're wonderful
Each time you kneel and pray!
How many teddies pray like that?
You're special, yes, you are!
And so much better than our cat,
'Cos, teddy, you're a star!

Teddy Bear Christmas
All the teddy bears love the snow,
They are always ready with their sleds to go.
I love their spirit of adventure and play,
All their joy and love for boys and girls comes with a teddy bear hug.
Traveling to visit their friends,
The snow is coming down, it's almost Christmas Day.
I know they celebrate the holiday,
That is the teddy bear way.
Somewhere in the pines,
The Teddy Bear Christmas tree is all aglow,
Bright lights calling them to dance and sing.
It is a pretty sight to see.
They eat the candies and cakes,
Open Christmas presents they made.
Play games and sing,
Teddy Bear Christmas bells ring,
Bless all the teddy bears everywhere,
Teddy Bear Christmas is finally here.

Dear Teddy
Dear teddy.
He's hurt me again.
He's taken my soul again.
And left it in the bin.
Teddy your my only saviour.
To you I can tell.
To you I can cry.
Teddy help me.
He's coming again.
And I can't hide.
Teddy what should I do?

Teddy Boy
This is the story
About a boy named ted.
If his mother said:
Ted, be good, he would.
Be good, ted. alright.
She told him tales
About a soldier dad,
But it made her sad.
Then she cried, oh my.
Ted used to tell her
He'd be twice as good
And he knew he could,
'cos in his head he said:
Mummy don't worry,
Your teddy boy's here
Taking good care of you.
Mama don't worry,
Your teddy boy's here.
Teddy's gonna see you through.
And she said:
Teddy don't worry
Your mummy's here,
Taking good care of you.
She said: teddy don't worry,
Your mummy's here,
Teddy's gonna see you through.
He said: ta da da...
Then came the day
She found herself a man.
Teddy turned and ran
Oh far away, oh yeah.
He couldn't stand
Just to be around,
So he left the town
Far away, yeah yeah.
Ted used to tell her
He'd be twice as good
And he know he could,
'cos in his head he said:
Mummy don't worry,
Now teddy boy's here,
Taking good care of you.
Mummy don't worry,
Your teddy boy's here.
Teddy's gonna see you through.
And she said:
Teddy don't worry,
Now mummy's here,
Taking good care of you.
Teddy don't worry,
Your mummy's here,
Mummy's gonna see you through.
And he said:
Mummy mummy don't worry,
Your teddy boy's here
Taking good care of you.
Mummy don't worry,
Now teddy boy's here.
Teddy's gonna see you through.
Take your partner
And don't [...],
Hold them tight
And don't let go.
Got it. jump up.
Take your partners
And don't see
When you got it,
Then let it go
Hold them tight then.
Now ted used to tell her
He'd be twice as good,
And he knew he could
'cos in his head, he said:

One of those days
Although I try I cannot hide,
the fact that I’m dissatisfied
with everyone and everything
Despite the fact that I have tried.
Why it is that life is so unfair.
It sometimes drives me to despair
of everyone and everything
I could give up but I don’t dare.
For everyone depends on me
to provide their security
Yes everyone and everything.
Is this the way that things should be
I suppose I’m entitled to
take a very jaundiced view
of everyone and everything.
When I am feeling sad and blue.
Quite suddenly my blues are gone.
I know I can depend upon
every one and everything.
No longer feeling woebegone..
I know without a shred of doubt
I’ve little to complain about
That everyone and everything
are all prepared to help me out.
I snap back to reality.
The world does not depend on me
not everything and every one
is my responsibility.
I realise that my black mood
has coloured my whole attitude.
to everything and everyone
Because I was not feeling good

(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear
Oh baby let me be, your lovin' teddy bear
Put a chain around my neck, and lead me anywhere
Oh let me be (oh let him be)
Your teddy bear
I don't wanna be your tiger
'Cause tigers play too rough
I don't wanna be your lion
'Cause lions ain't the kind you love enough
I just wanna be, your teddy bear
Put a chain around my neck and lead me anywhere
Oh let me be (oh let him be)
Your teddy bear
Baby let me be, around you every night
Run your fingers through my hair
And cuddle me real tight
Oh let me be (oh let him be)
Your teddy bear
I don't wanna be your tiger
'Cause tigers play too rough
I don't wanna be your lion
'Cause lions ain't the kind you love enou-ou-ou-ough
Just wanna be, your teddy bear
Put a chain around my neck and lead me anywhere
Oh let me be (oh let him be) your teddy bear
Oh let me be (oh let him be) your teddy bear...
I just wanna be your teddy bear (ooh...)

The White Teddy Bear
I looked for a Valentine gift
To enhance my girls' belief
A gift is not only for fun
But it is also good for their long run
I found a white teddy bear
Wearing a pink heart in front
This white teddy bear
Loves all beings as she swears
There is no war
In her pink heart
There is a great love
She'd like to show
To her grandfathers
And her grandmothers
To her daddy
And her mommy
This white teddy bear
Is happy to share
The things she has
With all her grace
To her little sister
...Then all my daughters
Became the love givers
Just like the white teddy bear
To take a pink heart to wear.

Teddy Bear
O Teddy Bear! with your head awry
And your comical twisted smile,
You rub your eyes -- do you wonder why
You've slept such a long, long while?
As you lay so still in the cupboard dim,
And you heard on the roof the rain,
Were you thinking . . . what has become of him?
And when will he play again?
Do you sometimes long for a chubby hand,
And a voice so sweetly shrill?
O Teddy Bear! don't you understand
Why the house is awf'ly still?
You sit with your muzzle propped on your paws,
And your whimsical face askew.
Don't wait, don't wait for your friend . . . because
He's sleeping and dreaming too.
Aye, sleeping long. . . . You remember how
He stabbed our hearts with his cries?
And oh, the dew of pain on his brow,
And the deeps of pain in his eyes!
And, Teddy Bear! you remember, too,
As he sighed and sank to his rest,
How all of a sudden he smiled to you,
And he clutched you close to his breast.
I'll put you away, little Teddy Bear,
In the cupboard far from my sight;
Maybe he'll come and he'll kiss you there,
A wee white ghost in the night.
But me, I'll live with my love and pain
A weariful lifetime through;
And my Hope: will I see him again, again?
Ah, God! If I only knew!

Why I call my Teddy Bear Jesus
I've got a cuddly teddy bear,
Jesus is his name.
I wondered what to call him;
and then the answer came:
My Mom and Dad have told me
that he's the friend who frees us,
and loves us, keeps us out of sin;
that's why my bear's called Jesus.

Me & My Teddy Bear
Me and my teddy bear
Oh me and my teddy bear
We got no hair, but we dont care
Me and my teddy bear
We love to play and play
cause they take all the pain away
They take all the pain away
Like a bird of prey who got nothin to say
cause they take all the pain away
Yes they take all the pain from my head
Yes they take all the pain from my head
Two hands, two feet
Im happy and sweet
They take all the pain from my head.
Oh me and my teddy bear
We got no hair, but we dont care
Me and my teddy bear
We love to play and play

Very conscious of the fact that an effort was being made to destroy my mind, because I was deprived of books, deprived of any means of writing, deprived of human companionship. You never know how much you need it until you're deprived of it.

Teddy Bears
Up to the age of four years old
Edmund was called ‘Little Ted’,
but the day after his fifth birthday
he was called something else instead.
For his birthday he was bought a teddy bear
and of course that night he took it to bed.
The very next morning he told his mummy
the bear was to be called ‘Little Ted’.
Two ‘Little Ted’s’ would be confusing, said mum
so you ought to change your name.
Because you’re bigger we’ll call you ‘Big Ted’
and then your names won’t be the same.
‘Big Ted’ and ‘Little Ted’ became great friends,
and went everywhere together,
upstairs and downstairs, indoors and out,
and in all kinds of weather.
One day ‘Big Ted’ and his mother went shopping,
and he saw an even bigger teddy bear.
He whispered to his mother, “Don’t you think
‘Little Ted’ is looking worse for wear? ”
She knew what he was getting at and said,
“You can’t replace ‘Little Ted’ just because he’s worn, ”
and he said, “I don’t want to replace ‘Little Ted’,
but another teddy would help to keep him warm.”
“By what name would it be known? ” she asked.
“Well, it’s only right that he should be ‘Big Ted’,
and then everyone will call me Edmund,
which is what I prefer to be called instead.”

Mesmerized
Mesmerized.
My teddy bear
left alone in the kitchen all night,
had its eyes stolen by a cat.
The moggy is on the terrace
looks at me with friendly eyes…like.
Big, green buttons I sewed on
my teddy bear,
it sees right through me and beyond.
This frightens me,
I cuddle the moggy now.
