Tribute To SudhaChandran
The molten gold drips from the sun
The silver drops plop from the moon
The yonder sparkles twinkle down
Compiled to make a face...
The gentle breeze of the fragrant flowers
The smelly soil of the monsoon drizzles
The symphony of the harmonic rains
Compounded to make a body-grace...
She is the ripples of the morn
Draped with the rain-bow yarn
Flowy and floody, up and down
The river and its run...
Swiftly bounces and crawls, walks and swirls
Her resilient plies, single foot and a prosthesis
The tenacity of the danseuse
'Losing a foot walking a mile' in praises
An angel is born
Strong and fortitude-hewn
To soar high to enthrone
Gracious willow of her mellowed elan
Sprouting on a prosthesis dances on
Invigorated her verve to ascend the global crown

An Ordinary Summer Evening
On a temperate summer evening
am walking lonely under the vast horizon.
Hither and thither patches of clouds,
creating shapes like dwarfs and elves.
Soothing, gentle breeze flowing
breeze so soft as a new-born baby
kissing bare feet, wrist and palm.
Crows are taking homewards flight: a warm retreat,
the day must have be an auspicious one.
Clouds are now evenly spread-
not a trace of single break-
covered with azure tints and shades.
Tip-toe, tip-toe rain drizzles
a merry rain: rain that brings loss to none
Oh rain! Oh breeze!
Do touch my soul
Do touch my heart
The weather there is cold and numb
Winter there is not yet gone
Make the weather inside warm
Weather is not what you see outside
It is what you feel inside
Monsoon Rains
The Monsoon rains have set at last,
A bit delayed than in the past!
The state is water-logged a lot;
The water-table, up somewhat!
No doubt, the rains are welcome but
Many have lost their lives and hut;
The torrent was sudden and big,
And left most people with no wig!
Many now suffer by the rains;
The water is from sky and drains;
It takes a month to settle down;
This is the scene in every town!
Yet, who does clean the cities’ dumps?
’Tis Nature cleaning dirt, clogs, sumps!
For, no one does this job so well,
Like rain from God that pours like hell!
Nevertheless, it does just good,
Though farmers lose their fields and food!
And roads and bridges get damaged,
They are the bad ones and the aged!
Thank God for Monsoon rains that came,
And give Him praises and not blame!
The world needs water that is fresh;
If not, no one can drink, refresh!
Oh, let the rains come in big way!
And let it rain by night and day!
Let’s face the strife those, come what may!
The Sun will shine when we make hay!

The Rill From The Foot Of The Mountain
The rill from the foot of the mountain that joins the river to the sea
It has babbled on downhill forever by hedgerows in the high
Country
It has witnessed the birth and death of millions of Seasons even before the first Human was born
In the upland wood where it flows through the birds sing at dawn of the morn.
The rill it is truly immortal something that will live forever more
Forever 'twill flow to the river that flows to the great ocean shore
To it there is not a time limit it is as old as father time
It has inspired the long dead poets to glorify it in their rhyme.
The rill from the foot of the mountain towards the river ripples along
And sometimes above it's quiet babble the dippers can be heard in song
The dark brown white breasted waterbirds of Human kind they do seem shy
By the water-way they were born and in the water-way they will die.
The rill from the foot of the mountain downhill to the big river flow
The ancestors of the upland farmers who lived by it centuries ago
In the old Village graveyard it flows by with the long departed they lay
As on for to join the big river it babbles on it's downhill way.

Rain drops fall from heaven
Tears swelling up in my eyes every night
Rain drops fall from heaven
Simply a walking disguise in the light
Rain drops fall from heaven
Wondering when i will be alright
Rain drops fall from heaven
Growing so weak no energy to fight
Rain drops fall from heaven
Losing all hope in my mind
Rain drops fall from heaven
Wishing that i could simply unwind
Rain drops fall from heaven
As time goes love makes me blind
Rain drops fall from heaven
Wishing i didn't have to leave her behind
Rain drops fall from heaven
Wanting to make everything right
Rain drops fall from heaven
Wishing i could see her in sight
Rain drops fall from heaven
Wishing I had the strength to fight
Rain drops fall from heaven
Wishing i could hold her tight
Rain drops fall from heaven
Never knowing if she remembers me
Rain drops fall from heaven
Never know if we were meant to be
Rain drops fall from heaven
Wishing i had more time to see
Rain drops fall from heaven
My family that always loved me
Rain drops fall from heaven
Thinking back to the times we had
Rain drops fall from heaven
Smiles and laughter but yet so sad
Rain drops fall from heaven
Just sitting here all alone
Rain drops fall from heaven
Wishing i was way back home
Rain drops fall from heaven
Now the only thing that is on my mind
Rain drops fall from heaven
Is the memories i have way back in time
Rain drops fall from heaven
The tears from my eyes and deep inside
Rain drops fall from heaven
Matches the drops that come from the sky
Rain drops fall from heaven
If you could even begin to wonder why
Rain drops fall from heaven
It is simply those tears from lies
Rain drops fall from heaven
Every time it rains i stare to the clouds
Rain drops fall from heaven
Hoping one day she will simply fall
Rain drops fall from heaven
Right into my arms where she belongs
Rain drops fall from heaven
So that i can sing her a song
Rain drops fall from heaven
A song that tells her how i feel
Rain drops fall from heaven
A song that is nothing but real
Rain drops fall from heaven
That will be the day that will bring me joy
Rain drops fall from heaven
Too bad it wont happen to this boy
Rain drops fall from my eyes 24/7

Walking
Take your left foot,
Bend the knee.
Move the foot forward.
Place it down.
Then do the same thing,
Wth the right foot.
'Suppose I started with my right foot?
Would that make a difference? '
Try it and see which makes you feel comfortable.
'I like this.'
Now...
Don't be frightened.
But next week,
'We' are going to attempt to do this...
From a standing position.
One moment.
Do you have a question.
~Yes.
Is it possible you can slow down a little.
I am taking notes and you are going too fast.~
No problem.
'What are you calling this? '
~Right.
What is this called? ~
Walking.
~Do you mind spelling that? ~
W-a-l-k-i-n-g.
Walking.

Angel's Theme
Sedated sunglow shines tepid and true,
Illuminating the sky’s seamless chalybous blue,
Albino candy floss clouds do float,
Shimmering in silvery sugared coat,
But stood on terran spherical shape,
An angel surveys the landscape.
She smiles and summons solar heat waves,
Where she tiptoes lush greenery spouts and paves,
This angel coolly whistles and whispers,
Awakening in harmonic hum her sylphic sisters,
Across jade garnished hills comes a rolling mist,
That surrounds and covers her in heaven’s assist,
Around her feet argent frost sparkles and springs,
Sprouting wispy wannish brumous wings,
Hoisting her high into welkin’s domain,
Flowers turn upward to her joyful rain,
Cast and spread from flapping winged form,
Pluvial prescription in sprinkler system storm.
The ever echo of the ascending spirit in the sky,
Sprouting all manner of living things, emeralds to the eye,
Each globule glistens with a wink of soul to befall,
Engendering solemn sentience within us all,
Scattering a gentle but vital spark from above,
Which does susurrate out her heartbeat in love.

Straw Foot
I guess you didnt hear me
When I told you for the first time
Well dont you worry
It wont be the last
All I need a floorboard
An a wooden shoe
Step aside an let my lady through
Hey foot, straw foot
Low we lay em down
Hey foot, straw foot
Up an back around
See the high priest
He took my place
When the judge looks to me
He saw his sons face
Not gonna join you in
Your tower of babble, boy
Tired o that talkin
Im sick o that noise
Hey foot, straw foot
Low we lay em down
Hey foot, straw foot
Coverin ground
Im not alone
An looks can be deceivin
When we get down to it
Youre talkin when you
Should be leavin
Ive been to nebraska
It reminded me of spain
All the questions loaded
All my answers same
Hey foot, straw foot
Low we lay em down
Hay foot, straw foot
Coverin ground
Let us not mince our words
Lets say it true this time
I need your forgiveness
Just like you need mine
Tell me how it is that
You dont want what hes given
It aint no sin son
To be forgiven
Hey foot, straw foot
Low we lay em down
Hey foot, straw foot
All over town

what shape is freedom?
a flicker
on the candle in the dark night
the wind blows
and the flicker moves anywhere
the wind goes
freedom?
the strong wind puts the light out
on a single blow
freedom?
the candle knows how to make its own flame
and lets go some of its melting matter
freely flowing its own body
consuming itself
down the drain
to its foot
like tears
the molten drops slide
and solidify
taking some shapes
misconceived
unassigned by us
freedom?
the freedom to take our own shapes
the freedom to consume ourselves
the freedom to be finally
extinguished
freedom.

The Thunder Cracks In The Gray Sky
The thunder cracks in the gray sky and the rain it is bucketing down
Above the high and dry and bare paddocks by the river that flows by the town
On those paddocks that need heaps of rain it has been awhile since they were green
This countryside is looking dry 'tis as dry as it ever has been
His feathers soaked wet from the rain the magpie flutes on the blackwood tree
From it's drenched leaves the rain drips and drips by the river that flows to the sea
To the river adown the bare hill the water in rivulets run
As soon as the rain will have stopped they will quickly dry out in the sun
The Summer has been warm and dry and the long range weather forecast is for a dry Fall
An hour of heavy thunder rain of little use though better than nothing at all
For months the farmers have been praying for rain their prayers in part answered today
But the sun shines across the brown hills and the rain clouds are clearing away
And the magpie shakes his feathers dry and no rain drops left to drip from the trees
And white butterflies flitting about in the sunshine and feshening breeze.

A Time At The Beach
Why not long walks on the beach
Whispering sweet nothings to each
Walking bare foot in the sand
Walking together hand in hand
Watching the waves come crashing in
Feeling the dampness on my skin
Feeling the gentle breeze on my face
One of god's beauties, what a wonderful place
Looking up towards all the stars
On this magic night, this will be all ours
Love the ocean once in a while
Forgetting your problems and making you smile!

Monday Morning
As the sun comes up between the grey of the rain clouds
Brighter than the streetlights along the industrial parks
I travel slowly gaining foot by foot in the dense traffic
As the buses, trucks and cars fight their way up the bridge
I see beauty on this Monday morning after the rain
While misty drops of water elevated by the tires ahead
Splash on my windshield before illuminating like diamonds
The sun rises in my back welcoming this new rainy day
Harbor cranes like silhouettes along the river shores
Tower high above the freight piers blue and grey on grey
Crossing the bridge high above the city in the midst of traffic
I see the dark waters sleeping very still after the storm
Drops of water lingering on the railing far on the outer edge
Before losing balance and making the journey into the deep
To mingle with the river then travel the short distance to the sea
I dream about flying and diving into cool black waters
About becoming one with the particles of our existence
Surrounded by a vacuum I could start over in a different form
But the traffic merciless pushes me further along into the city
I missed my chance and just smile about the beauty of today

It Is Raining Now....Wow!
Dense clouds pregnant with rain
Welcome some, others disdain.
Under the spell of monsoon
Some cry and others croon.
Rains, both awful and awesome
Waiting a year, for its welcome.
Bringing forth different emotions
Smiles, horror, anguish and satisfaction.
Drizzle brings dating couple to smile
hand in hand, enjoy walking a mile.
Intermittent rains make children happy
knocking out heat from their company.
Torrents create panic in traffic wards
deluge warns flood on the cards.
Simple rain soothing the nerves
greenery laps it up with all its verves.
Incessant rains bring no relief
slum dwellers are left to grieve.
Harvesting rain makes some sense
providing water during dry months.
Strange, rains need no stage
churning elixir as well horror in rage.
Rain dance and make us dance
opened heavens give us a chance.
Creating a rhythm like bharatanatayam
life in rains is simply awesome.
Enacting different rasas sometimes in 30 minutes
weathermen watching keenly, its performance.
Like rainbows, rain brings colour and vigour
Life line of my country, let us all cheer.

Under the Silver and Over the Gold
When philanthropist Herbert Traversoni travelled to Tuareg, Africa in 1935 he fell in love with Mpenda, and together they discovered a small patch of sero astrum, commanly known as star flowers. He wrote of an evening in the flowers with Mpenda:
'Cracked the moon in a single glance
And taught the stars their silver dance
Parcae, is it your damsons that fall with her hair upon my face?
And in your apocryphal winds that i found this place?
Flowers spy her!
Drowning in grace
Lay with me, under the silver and over the gold'

Trouble River
Well, the river runs through this valley
Combing deep and black [?]
Coming like a tombstone's
Shadows across my back
Trouble river
Six foot high and risin'
Trouble river
I can't keep from cryin'
Woke up last night a'shakin'
Shakin' from a dream
All i seen was smilin' faces
Starin' back at me
Trouble river
Six foot high and risin'
Trouble river
I can't keep from cryin'
Snakes crawling in the house
I'm stuck in muddy ground
Tonight i'm gonna shed this skin
Cause water's risin' and i goin' down to
Trouble river
Six foot high and risin'
Trouble river
I can't keep from cryin'

One Winged Angel
A goddess with grace
A demon with strength
Will be born
A child of faith
A child of wisdom
A child of might
The child will know the way to fight
The child will soar the skies above
The child will know a once true love
The child will sing a loving tune
The child will die a once full moon
A child of good
A child of bad
This is a child that cannot be sad
A wing of an angel on the left
A wing of a devil on the right
This is the story of the monster of the night
He walks through the day a normal man
Through the night he's one you cannot stand
Once a child of beauty and grace
Now a fiend of wicked and waste
He walks through the forest seeking all
Creatures of size big and small
In the night he finds a place
With a man he'd like to taste
Closer up he begins to walk
While the man begins to talk
A song he sings
The monster does hear
Calms the beast while so near
The beast begins to change its face
And once again the child of grace
As the child stands in wait
An arrow strikes to seal his fate
In the moonlight a child has died
On horseback the hunter rides
Closer to see his kill
In his mind for just the thrill
As he sees the fallen angel
A puddle of blood with body mangled
He cries in tears for what he's done
It's now time for the sun
The child rises from the ground
With a halo so very round
As the angel takes it's leave
The man now he so believes
Of the one winged angel.

The whole day it is raining! ! !
Patter patter silver rain drops
Falls from the sky
The whole day it is raining!
What a beautiful sight!
Sometimes it drizzles and sometimes it falls heavily
The whole day seems to be a nice day
I like to see and touch the rain drops
The shower of the rain
Filled us with it's touch
The whole day
It is raining!
The whole day is so pleasant!
As it washes and touches our hearts with the pleasure of the rain drops!

Walking Town
One foot after the other
One place pretty much like another
Some folks got a pretty good deal
Some are just looking for their next meal
Out here where the days go by
And the glances never meet the eye
It's a walking town
And I'm just out here walking 'round
Walking 'round this walking town
You got a house on top of a hill
And a powerful automobile
The windows up, the AC high
In a world of comfort speeding by
Stressed out in the latest style
How long has it been since you walked a mile
In yours or anybody else's shoes
Well, in any life there will be dues
It's a walking town
And I'm just out here walking 'round
Walking 'round this walking town
Walking up, walking down
Walking back, walking 'round
Walking mute, walking bound
Walking through your walking town
One foot on the concrete shore
One foot in the human sea
Night falls on the streets of the city
And it falls over you and me
And all our dreams and our descriptions
Of the life this was supposed to be
Drift above the rooftops and the houses
Until the sunlight finds me where I lay
And it's a walking town
And I'm back out here walking 'round
Walking 'round this walking town

Dancing the invisible line
Some like to sit on fences, admire the view in safety;
some are born hurdlers; .
draw a line, and some minds shrink back;
others can’t wait to compete, first over wins…
poets, said the sage, should always
walk on the edge of madness…
ah, remember when you were a child,
walking down the path one foot within,
one foot beyond?
‘a line of poetry’…every line, a line,
one foot beyond, one foot within –
prose, verse; rhymed, unrhymed;
metered, unmetered; actual, fantasy;
elevated, jokey; personal, impersonal;
tragic, comic; a road taken, or not taken..
oh, so many lines
that others painted on the road –
dance down that road,
one foot beyond, one foot within..

Boatman
The spilled silver of moon
over a distanced lake,
in the still of night.
A boy mounted at the edge of boat
dips his foot,
tearing apart the silver and solitude,
torn sheet quivers momentarily
The widening circles of ripples.

Endless Walk
walking cold to the bone in the rain
wind cuts like a knife in my skin
water drips off my face i look around to see
it's just me walking in the rain, my mind is full of clouds
i start to wonder why does it rain, why am i walking, how long has it been raining, how long have i been walking...
i look at my wrist to see there's no watch
i reach for my pocket to feel there's no pocket
except strings of fibers, fibers are all thats left
from what used to be clothing
my skin looks pale and is full of scars
i fall down on my knees it terrifies me to see the reflection in the puddle of water this is not the face i remember as my own
i stand up only to realise the street is not there
it's just a dark floor
i look around there's a wall on both sides
i look up to scream there's no sound only water that fills my eyes
before i can make sense of it my body starts to move
i'm walking again, where am i going, why can't i stop
