Prayer To Ganesh
Hey Ganesh,
You're the sun to bestow
A spectrum blossoming into a rainbow
Of powers soothing like the moon's glow
May our prayers on You dawn to flow
Providentially in lives that follow
May our obstacles be treaded low low
May our endeavours prospect to grow grow
Hey Ganesh,
You're the sun sanguine
Risen to erode our distress pain
Closer You are our woes decline
More the sun eerieness be slain
You look grey benign
Around us a brighter shine
Clad in white You're so fine
Hey Ganesh,
You're multinamed, multiformed
Yet formless too; beyond this world
Macrocosm is You spread
Incomprehensible, yet do comprehend
Be You the first sound
And the creation then evolved
Ganas the microcosms; Ganesh their God
Hey Ganesh,
Elephant-headed You with moon on forehead
Capacious belly on with netted trunk curved
Broken tusk and eyes red
Weaponed arms with noose and goad
Blessing arms granting boon and guard
Fanning ears with a body broad
Bonded with a shrew pervading globe around
Praise to your presence blissful
From turmeric to clay pliable wonderful
Shape to shape adorable meaningful
Preserved or permeated ritual willful
Our litanies Your heartful
Our oblations plentiful
May You be with us fully full
Perennially to favour the needful
Hey Ganesh, Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh
Omnipresent, wealth and victory be Thou zestful

It's Thou Pride (Rondine)
(Based on a mango-contest between
the Lords Ganesh and Muruga
as per hindu mythology)
-
'It's thou pride, gyre gyre o'lord
Winning the game no easy
Going around worlds too queasy
Yet flinch not, gyre gyre o'lord
There thy peacock, get on board
Finish the rounds so easy
It's thou pride'
Much unthought but Ganesh scored
His parents His world, rounds easy
Lost Muruga got preachings uneasy
Shiva said'Ganesh, You the first Lord
It's thou pride'

Festival Ganesh Chaturti
What though the Lord be beheaded
Handsome more He but resurrected
What though the killer be Siva or Sani
In arena of ganas He but more a honey
Risen in every home and town
Trunked of netted tenets renown
Schismatic what though so many
Oceanic His deeds against those villainy
Born of mystical legends strange
What though hued Him many we change
Unchanged He but bulged of cosmic acumen
So and now needy Lord, Ganesh for human
Happy Birth Day to Ganesh
Jollification high on ritual bash
He but the first Lord of gyring wisdom
So and now out His deco of decorum
He but the first bestower for the earthlings
So and now He be dumped of dumplings
He but the first hurdler of our indelicacies
So and now He be gluttoned on delicacies
He but the first celestial visitant
So and now hold Him tight and allegiant
What though He be in us soulful immersion

Hanibal B.
It was round about the third century B.C.
In Carthage by the sea,
That General Hamilcar Barca's son grew up
By the name of Hanibal B.
And this boy lived with no other thought
Than elephant husbandry.
I was a calf and he was a child,
In Carthage by the sea,
But we loved with a love that was frowned upon by some
I and my Hanibal B.
With such love, that the elephant god Ganesh
Fancied him and me.
And this was the reason that in 218 B.C.
In Saguntum by the sea,
The double-dealing Romans played up, upsetting
My sensitive Hanibal B.
So that his relatives said,
‘For Baal's sake, let the elephants be!
And cross the Alps and sort Rome out
For Carthage by the sea'.
Ganesh, tiring of affairs on the sub-continent,
Trumped up some nasty weather in the Pyrenees-
Yes! - that was why my poor boy came down with a sniffle
And was a bit weepy,
That the soldiers teased him because he was talking through his nose,
Chiding, deriding, saying 'Hanibal, you're so twee! '
But our love was more interesting than the love
Of those who weren't at all twee-
Of many who were ever so twee-
And when push came to shove
No puny punic soldier draftee
Could ever convince me it was droll
To mock loving minorities.
For I, one-tusked Surus, narrating these reams
Of the beautiful Hanibal B.
Say, though we shared many rumbles and sighs,
There was never any bestiality;
And yet all the night-time, I lay by his side
Warming my darling- his skin on my hide,
In the Alps, encamped past treacherous scree,
Inscribed in my heart and my memory.

Thoughts
Grey east wafts in through the window
My mind is bathed blank-white
Lord Ganesh taps at my temples gently
My strifeful prayers embrace the Lord
He then gently wipes the tears of my heart
He consumes my pain all in His five hands
Yet it starts overflowing
I realise but He does not
Certain imprints climb the walls of my mind
Beat, hit, slice, slash with horrendous rhythmicity
I complain to the Lord; But He's smiling still
I complain again and again but in vain
I feel a slaughtering of my heart
I start punching on my head fiercely
And the Lord smiling still

Sceptism and Religion
The eagle is the chariot of God Vishnu.
The bull is the chariot of God Siva.
The lion is the chariot of Goddess Kali.
The mouse is the chariot of God Ganesh.
The peacock is the chariot of God Karthik.
Hanuman is the god incarnate monkey.
The Hindus revere them in images
And ignore them at ease in their live forms.
Sceptism finds no place in religions.

A Fun of September!
End of summer
And beginning of winter
Is September!
Sand melting heat
And sand wetting rain
Occur in September!
Full grown fruits
And fully blossomed flowers
You see in September!
Heat in the morning
And rain in evening and night
Town gets in September!
Summer holiday ends
And all festivals begin now on
From September on!
September begins
Fast pace of the year ever
With all festivals!
They being Ganesh Chadurthi,
Navrathri, Diwali, Christmas,
New Year and Pongal are...!
Time moves fast
As no boredom ever shows
Head from September!
Fun of September
Starts Autumn, Rain and Winter
All in one....!

Trees and Plants
Plants and trees
So green so green
The kitchen is the leaf
And the root is the chief
They give us flowers to decorate
And also to celebrate
They give us paper from their wood
And they are found in the woods
With their help we can make whatever we want
From a rubberband to a pant
We don't need to pay tax or fees
To borrow from our lovely trees
They protect us from diseases
That would make us ill
All the carbondioxide
They always take in
Some people cut trees
For things like table and chair
Not knowing what pollution
They are doing to the air
Forests are turning from green to brown
Animals' faces are always with a frown
So let's make this place from brown to green
By planting more saplings and trees

Festival of Lights- Deepawali! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
While drawing a multi hued Rangoli,
Tying a string of sacred Marigolds and mango leaves
At my door, to welcome the Goddess of prosperity,
Lakshmi, I pray for a wealth of different kind:
I want compassion and peace of mind
And eyes that don’t pretend to be blind.
Please light my path all the way,
Give me courage to not go astray
From my chosen path today.
As I mindfully walk to light each wick
with awareness striking a match stick,
Dressed in my finery and ethnic
Wear, I bow with reverence at the altar and pray
Seeking blessings of merciful Lord Ganesh,
To help me overcome challenges on my way.
So that each lamp that I thus light
Expands my heart and help me gain insight
Into my hapless suffering brethrens plight,
And my heart and soul so ignite…
Hope, one day auspicious festival of lights
Wll light up every home on Diwali night.

Superior
Mother, your baby is silly! She is so absurdly childish!
She does not know the difference between the lights in the
streets and the stars.
When we play at eating with pebbles, she thinks they are real
food, and tries to put them into her mouth.
When I open a book before her and ask her to learn her a, b,
c, she tears the leaves with her hands and roars for joy at
nothing; this is your baby's way of doing her lesson.
When I shake my head at her in anger and scold her and call
her naughty, she laughs and thinks it great fun.
Everybody knows that father is away, but if in play I call
aloud "Father," she looks about her in excitement and thinks that
father is near.
When I hold my class with the donkeys that our washer man
brings to carry away the clothes and I warn her that I am the
schoolmaster, she will scream for no reason and call me dada.
Your baby wants to catch the moon. She is so funny; she calls
Ganesh Ganush.
Mother, your baby is silly! She is so absurdly childish!

Happy Birth Day
With the side of the folded fist
Dipped into the batter of rice
Imprinted are the Holy Feet
Of little Krishna, 'Kolam' of providence
From the floor of the street
Via the steps along the house
Inwardly upto the 'pooja' almirah straight
Where picture of Krishna with floral garlands,
Lit holy lamps, incense, sandal paste
Sindhoor, assorted flowers, holy yellow rice,
Special fruits, varieties of milk sweet,
And snacks made of gram and rice-
'Seedai, murukku, thenkuzhal, thattai' on big plate
Are ready and the priest next invokes
Lord Ganesh, next to propitiate
Lord Krishna with all the delicious delights
Marking Krishna's birth thus devout great
Full of exultation eating the delicacies..
Krishna eating? mm..Krishna alone knows

India’s Jewel
India’s jewel of welcome the Taj Mahal
Drapes its curtains of love in the palace of dreams
Histories monument pleasured afore my eyes
Many seasons have changed my India since I last saw you
Everything is wonderfully the same
As I alight the packed train, the British made toot toot and
The rattle of the wheels moving on brings memories
Of always leaving somewhere...I arrive
The hustle and bustle of Calcutta stands before me
Majestic in its multitude of humanity
Wonderfully weaving the threads of teeming life
Where its wealth lies within the poor who are
Carving out a life of happiness with a smile
They are the real jewel of India
They beat out sorrow
Like the washer woman beating out the dirt of their lives
God I have learnt some wisdom here
The rise of living standards is creeping across the land
The middle class is booming the poor will slowly rise.
The waft of steaming rice and odours of a thousand spices
Lull my taste senses as I ride the rickshaw path.
The heady fragrance of jasmine greets me as I
Arrive at an old friend’s humble home,
Women cook over a clay oven outside at the rear,
Pictures adorn the walls
Rama and his wife Goddess of fruits of the earth,
Lakshmi Goddess of prosperity with Ganesh the
Elephant-headed God of good fortune.
Simply poor religious people generous with their happiness,
You feel the love and dedication of the people
Wonderfully weaving the threads of teeming life.
As I bid farewell I will hold my memories of my visit,
Adversity smothered with lotus leaves
Memories close to my heart...

Comrade Ganesh
Wards off our woes, worries plentitude
Accomplishing His support the First Lord
Pedestrian path, and green trees
Tank banks and road-side
On the hill, down the hill
Unafflicted by inclemency
Even amid the river in a temple
Sternly seated, Pillaiyar His Excellency
Embodied a wood, paper, clay or a stone
Installed anywhere as one wishes
Comes along one's life He alone
Bearing suitable names

Autumn
Summer droplets sweating on autumn
Perspiring brother builds his equinox column
Provoked earth invokes southwesterly solemn
For humans ever summer they condemn
Autumn is good barbering the trees
To brown and wither strewn their leaves
On Adiperukku blessed autumn by swelling rivers
Sow to later blossom variable the seeds
Questing along with the fluttering southwesterly
Autumn clinks and clinks bangles genuinely
On Adipooram with all goddesses thoroughly
Marking the goddess of genesis augustly
Autumn is the sacred son of goddess Amma
Holi-dipped on Adi amavasai turns the cause of arcana
Ere monsoon enters into nature's arena
For soothing autumn a continual hosanna
Autumn by women adored and idolized
Around power of Shakti for it is centralised
Women to Varalakshmi while surrendered
Autumn propitiates Avani avittam anew freshened
Autumn marches on showering drizzles
At courtallam with festive hurtles
Then to make for Lord Krishna delicacies
Rushes with Lord Ganesh ingesting dumplings
That the Lords apprise of a purpose
Autumn is obedient with obeissance to the manes
Then busy propitiating Dasara deities
Invokes autumn Shakti for the approaching rains

Celebrating the Immersion of Elephant-Headed Hulk
How do you feel O hulk
being left deliberately half-immersed in the shallow water
for the by passers to cast sadistic glance
craning your head desperately above the salty waters
hankering for breath
seeing the sea world for the last time
waiting hopelessly for dissolution.
now
you realize the horror of slow self-diminishing
wearing away when you thought you had not enough
of life and love
of clumsy clay and flushing doves
drowning prematurely after the silly second
when you thought you had to eat the ladoos at home and go riding on your
rodent bike to friend’s birthday party eschewing homework
seeing whining darkness, ballooning big and heavy in mind
creating vacuum suction in ears, nose and stomach
floating feather-like into the bottomless valley of unknown
losing grip on the fading straw of consciousness
when serpents of water force their way into every pore of body
and you see silvery bubbles of life forsaking you
dancing, giggling and gurgling hidden truths
and you concentrate to unravel and understand
and peer until they blast into utterly white serenity of salvation
until swelling balloon of blackness detonates
and you become a silvery dancing bubble
nobody will save you,
O the saviour of this flimsy world,
as you have eschewed your homework
have only eaten ladoos
and have rode on rodent bike
those kids* are definitely salvaged
what will happen to you soul
(*Those kids here refer to the kids who had drowned in the surging monsoon waters of river Damanganga on account of the collapse of the bridge at Daman. The socio-political ruckus flared up by the tragedy was doused inevitably by apathetic celebration of Ganesh Visarjan) .

The Old Moon In The New Moon's Arms
The beautiful and slender young New Moon,
In trailing robes of pink and palest blue,
Swept close to Venus, and breathed low: 'A boon,
A precious boon, I ask, dear friend, of you.'
'O queen of light and beauty, you have known
The pangs of love - its passions and alarms;
Then grant me this one favour, let my own -
My lost Old Moon be once more in my arms.'
Swift thro' the vapours and the golden mist -
The Full Moon's shadowy shape shone on the night,
The New Moon reached out clasping arms and kissed
Her phantom lover in the whole world's sight.

The Universal Daydream Nights
The Moons Rise In Your Eyes
A Dual Moon Reflection As I Look
To You I See Two Of What...
When One With You Is Awe When Us
Could There Ever Be A Love So Natural
As Seen From You... The Stereoscopic
Of A Celestial Body Up Above
But Closer Still As I Look To You
As Heavenly A Body As The Moon
But A Reflection-Hope Closer To Hold
The Heavens In My Arms In Reaching Out
A Haven In My Arms In Touching You
Truth To Heaven In A Broken Heart
When Looking To The Skies Above
You See Afar Away Earth's Only Moon
While I Look Closer In At You
A Starry Eyed Reflection Into Moons
In Your Duo-Pair Of Eyes You See The Moon
But I Can Always See The Two In You
The Only Moon Reflected In Both Eyes
Where Creation Of One Into Two
Can Only Exist As I Look To You
While Our Eyes Can Meet But Not Yet Touch
Long Enough For Me To Hold You In My Heart
A Mutual Transfixation That Can Not Be
For As Long A Duration That There Is A Night
When Afar Away We Are Alone
Not Holding Each Other As Transfixed
Like You With Moon And The Divide Without
As Afar Away We Are Within
Is You To See The Up Above
And I To See You From Afar Away So Near
Enchantment Transfixes You To The Moon
While I As Equally More Enchanted Still
Of You In Person In My Eyes
That All In Eventual Learn The True Celestial Close
Where There Are More Heavens Here Than What's Above
While Here On Level Ground Where Some Can't Feel
The Impossible Truth To Know When Two Can Grow
To Exist As Reflection In Both Our Eyes
As You Look Up... I Look To You
As I Yearn To The Eventual Look To Me
As Heaven Can Only Exist In The Immediacy Of You
Or Up Into Lunar Stardust We Rise
In Hand In Hand, We Exist As One
As We Swim Together In Our Pupil Oceanus Love'
Lunar As They Are At Night
And Eclipsing As They Are To Sun
Like A Sea Of Love Over Years I've Lost
And Found Then Lost And Then Found Again
I See Two Moons Of What Can Always Shine
When The Fantastic Can Come True To Everyone
The Daydream Nights Become Real For You
In Lovelorn Need, Always Love There Be
An Ideal That's Always Been A Dream Of Awe
So Lets Hope It Shines As Eternal Full Moon
And Never As Phase As Dark As New Moon Night.

Shape Me Like A Man
Spark my body into existence
Breath your life into me
Fill these eyes with temptation
Work your mystery
Make me in the image you desire
Raise me up from the earth
Let me be your creation
Women, give me birth
Take me in your hands
And shape me like a man
Shape me like a man
Put this broken body in motion
With a strong and natural drive
Fill my flesh with sensation
Women let me know Im alive
Take me in your hands
And shape me like a man
Shape me like a man
Like a man
Shape me like a man
Like a man
Shape me like a man
Like a man
Take me in your hands
And shape me like a man
Like a man
Shape me like a man
Like a man
Like a man
Shape me like a man
Like a man
Shape me like a man
Make me like a man

When Angels Kiss...
The dark clouds turned into a brighter white,
And the moon it shone with a brighter light.
The flowers of life stand tall once again,
From this world is vanquished all of lifes pain...
An angel stared at me with eyes of love,
Looking down upon me from high above.
I'm mesmerised by those emerald eyes,
I look deep inside to where love lies...
My love approached, eyes down to the ground,
My heart it pumped with a roaring sound.
My smiling heart said what no one could say,
I breathed in every essence of this beautiful day...
And when my Angel uttered, 'I love you, '
Dark black skies turned into sapphire blue.
The bleak grey clouds turned into white,
And the moon it shone a brighter light...
Winters snow it melted and flowed,
The night passed and the sun it glowed.
All of this the world just could not miss,
For it happens only when angels kiss...
Spread the love... The peace will follow...
