When Sleep Eludes
All those nights
When sleep eludes
The wily night plays
Many tricks!
Sometimes it smiles
Sometimes it mocks
Sometimes it pains
Most times it tosses
It tosses the body
On its undulating waves
Teases the mind and heart
And leaves one empty, dry and high!

Riding High on Insomnia
And on nights
When panic strikes
And sleep eludes
Even the slightest sound
Conjures to descend
On the unsettling nerves
The indiscernible depth in the belly
Expands to gorge on the self
And on nights
When panic strikes
And sleep eludes
Moving from room to room
Darkness dispels at a click
And follows at another click
To stay put within
Awaiting another ‘click’
And on nights
When panic strikes
And sleep eludes
The emptiness drowned in vain in long gulps
Stretches its tentacles to grip
The body in greed as if
A hungry tide on a dark sea
On a fateful night
And on nights
When panic strikes
And sleep eludes
Panic and sleep connive
To beat life out of the outer shell
And to throw the inner out of its gear

An Old Man Medicates His Pains Away
AN OLD MAN MEDICATES HIS PAINS AWAY
An old man medicates his pains away
He wants to live in his mind
As if his body can be temporarily forgotten-
He tries to be as he once was
Easy in the skin of himself -
But the pains the pains the pains
They come from different directions
They interrupt they remind they dismay
The pains the pains
They may go away for a time
But they don’t forget to sharpen again-
An old man does not want to think of his body as his enemy
He is no pure mind and does not dream to be
But the pains
When so many come at once
And when no medication can really put a stop to them-
They will defeat him -
Drugged into restless sleep
He will not be able to die without them.

Basket Case
Do you have the time
to listen to whine
about nothing and everything
all at once
I am one of those
MELODRAMATIC FOOLS
NUROTIC TO the bone no doubt about it
Some times I give myself the creeps
Some times my mind plays tricks one me
and it all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid or am I just stoned?
I went to a shrink to analize my dreams
she said it's lack of sex that's bringing me
down
I went to a whore he said my lifes a bore
so quite my whinning cuz it's bringing her
down
Sometimes I give my self the creeps
sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
and it all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
am I just paranoid
HU HU
GRASPING TO CONTROL!
SO I BETTER HOLD ONNNNNNNNNNN!!!
Sometimes I Give myself the creeps
sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
and it all keeps adding up I think I'm
cracking up... am I just paranoid or am I just
STOOONED?

The Love that wounds
Where does the sea
of your love foam
in the love that wounds,
love of flesh, of skin?
I see the blood
of your tender heart,
empty eyes of stone,
saddened smiles of sorrow.
You with your need,
eyes open as you sleep
letting loose arrows of flame
into the insomnolent night.
Body of lust
heart of torment,
whose shores
do your waves now caress
in the ocean of the night?
For the night is an ocean.

Your Love Is The Wind
YOUR LOVE IS THE WIND
Your love
is the wind
that passes
through trees
sets them murmuring
to themselves
the secrets of my heart
or the wind
in wheat
undulating across
fields
a golden sea
as if alive
moved
(moving me)
your love
the wind
that takes
my heart
tosses it
in the air
& laughs
laughs
as it scampers
here & there
at your
slightest whim
until
like a leaf
it lies
settled
quiet & still
becalmed
on your palm
overcome
with tenderness.

Who goes to bed supperless, all night tumbles and tosses.
Day's End
night divides as clearly
as the brightness of day
time cuts and doubly sharp
in the shadow of night
on the last train of tokyo subway
you see a woman, middled age
a goddess all on her own
face heavily painted
her fingers heavy with rings,
one of a big torquoise,
another white crystal,
and another plain gold
her powder betrays her
the lines cut through
leaving a chill
between the mouths
that in the silence
scream to the world of
the thirst underneath
to be young and supple again
and desirable as a young virgin
she looks suspiciously
and listlessly towards you
as you give her that telling
glance of what she is
the light in the red light part of town
she works is even dimmer
than the younger ones'
a lane as cold as it can be
if you are not drunk,
down and out and sordid
under bright chandeliers
in a flashy part of town
newly created manipulative angels
flutter around in body hugging dresses
obvious of the advantage they have
leaving a trail of paris designer's fragrance
female crickets
they walk faster, in full confidence too
and could tango in the highest of heels
their skin gleam like milk under
neons, and their voices a cat on heat
here and there, men in their prime
eyes excited as owl zerooing on a mice
try to play one up game
with their designer watches,
expenisve pipes, shoes and wear
out of the train, the middle age woman
walks to her one room apartment
echoes of her shoes hitting nightly and coldly
at the facts of life she finds hard to swallow
she tries to tell her lonely heart
for the umpteenth time, she is
a lot better than others her age
- at least she can still hide her lines
the only white lie she tries to do on herself
and catch some men double her age
her sleep is an ocean
she tosses and tosses
like waves floating between torture of night
and the longed for warmth of day

Dont Be Careless Love
Burn the midnight lamp
Down until the dawn,
Ill keep watch until Im sure your coming home.
Shadows play and flicker on the bedroom wall
They turn into a bad dream overnight,
Something could be terribly wrong.
Dont be careless love,
Dont be careless love,
Dont be, dont be careless.
In my dream youre running nowhere
Every step youve taken turns to glue,
Walking down a spiral staircase
Failing through, failing through,
Dont be careless love,
Be careless love.
The lamp burns down and out
Im getting pretty tired of this,
I feel so bad something might be going amiss,
I wont be there so look out for yourself
Youre getting in deep whatever you do,
Dont let me go back to sleep,
Dont be careless love,
Dont be careless love,
Dont be, dont be careless.
Saw your face in the morning paper,
Saw your body rolled up in a rug
Chopped up into two little pieces
By some thug,
Dont be careless love,
Be careless love.
But in the morning light
When I wake up again
Youre by my side and thats the way its always been,
But in the dark your mind plays funny tricks on you,
Your mind plays funny tricks on you,
Your mind plays funny tricks on you,
Dont be careless love.

Forsaken
'sleep was my first love'
and it meant a lot to me
it waited me so patiently
every time I walked out of the lobby
when hundred moons wiggled on my palms
and billion of stars carol to my eyes
Sleep walked with the thin clouds
Touched me, caressed softly my mind
From the nights I made him wait till dawn,
I took him for granted and he lost his patience
He escaped from the night’s wing
And bloomed to sun’s ranching over the continents
O how I miss his kiss when night fall tease
My bed is empty without sleep
Cold nights are broken, silence forsaken my world
Without my first love……….. sleep

Without You
It has been
six days
since I have seen her.
In all that time
she left me
totally totally alone.
Not a word
not a call
not a touch
not a sight of her.
How does she go
and leave me so
easily like this?
How is it that she
does not need to see
me by tormented day?
How is it that she
does not need to sleep
beside me during
long lonely nights?
Her naked body
under the sheets
cannot hold me
at a distance.
Her skin
cannot feel
the healing massage
of my caring hand.
Nor can
an empty bed
hold reassuring comfort
of her touch.
Nights
I lay awake
at nights
without you.
Nights
are lonely
and long
without you.
Life
is an empty night
alone wasted
without you.

Let The Night Sleep
Let the night sleep
Sleep for ever deep
With the night I sleep
Beyond the world to peep
Universe will sleep
Plants and trees
Birds and bees
Stars and moon
To sleep very soon!
Fruits and flowers
Joy with showers
Will sleep with me and the night
Not to keep the life very tight!
No dawn of the day
Right upto the dooms day!
Sleep permanent
In the world impermanent
I'll sleep without light
My agonies will sleep
My worries will sleep
My pains will sleep
My sins will sleep!
While in sleep
I am pure
I am peace
I am noble!
While my body is asleep
Awake my soul I keep
Sleep akin to death
Death akin to sleep in mirth?
Let the night sleep
Sleep for ever deep
With night I sleep
Sleep to eternity
Soul to merge in Divinity!

A Poem of Night and Fall
I thank you for the moon at night
and also for the stars that shine
and basking in it heavenly light
I wish the universe were mine
A midnight breeze
tosses my hair
and blows the leaves
of hidden trees
into fall air
a silver light
shines on the grass
a rabbits flight
then safe at last
at home tonight
a silver silence
speaks its presence
to the world
and in the fading, evening light
the dew drifts down
behold, the night
We see the shadows running past
and in the corners of our minds
we count the summer days till last
and the beginning is falls time
the scarlet leaves are mine

High Times
Written by jay kay, toby smith, stuart zender and derrick mckenzie
You dont need your name in bright lights
Youre a rock star
And some thin foil with a glass pipe
Is your guitar, now yes it is
Little angela suffers delusions
From these high times
Shes been cleaning up,
Since she was fourteen
On the main line
And her hunky funky junky,
Of a boyfriend
Got her on late nights
With her skirt tight
Woah shes a wild thing, letting it all swing
God bless our high times
Dont you know that last night
Turned to daylight
And a minute became a day
Last night
All my troubles
Well they seemed so, so far away
Searching my reflection
For a glimpse of, an other me
Ive got to get away from these high times
All these high high times
Cause these hight times
Are killing me
Now high times go on
And on and on
High times rock your mind yeah
This twisted crystal kingdom
Where you live your nine lives
And your head spins
With purple cyclones made of dexadrine
And when the phone rings
You think bad things
Well these are high high
High high times yeah
In any backstreet when you take a hot seat
Make sure you check your flight times
Oh now mama
Dont you know that last night
Turned to daylight
And a minute became a day
Last night
All my troubles
Well they seemed so, so far away
Searching my reflection
For a glimpse of, an other me
Ive got to get away from these high times
All these high high times
Cause these hight times
Are killing me
Now drop it this time
Paranoia will destroy ya
Paranoia will destroy ya
Paranoia will destroy ya
Paranoia
Paranoia
Dont you know that last night
Turned to daylight
And a minute became a day
Last night
All my troubles
Well they seemed so, so far away
Searching my reflection
For a glimpse of, an other me
Ive got to get away from these high times
All these high high times
Cause these hight times
Are killing me
La la la la la
High times (oh yeah)
Were living in high high high times yeah

Reestablishing security
I move her body and make it shiver
Brush her lips and make them quiver.
She moans and groans, she begs for me.
I slice through her honesty.
Her head tosses back and shoots towards mine.
A kiss she wants, but i decline.

Patience, Hard Thing! The Hard Thing But To Pray
Patience, hard thing! the hard thing but to pray,
But bid for, Patience is! Patience who asks
Wants war, wants wounds; weary his times, his tasks;
To do without, take tosses, and obey.
Rare patience roots in these, and, these away,
Nowhere. Natural heart's ivy, Patience masks
Our ruins of wrecked past purpose. There she basks
Purple eyes and seas of liquid leaves all day.
We hear our hearts grate on themselves: it kills
To bruise them dearer. Yet the rebellious wills
Of us we do bid God bend to him even so.
And where is he who more and more distils
Delicious kindness?—He is patient. Patience fills
His crisp combs, and that comes those ways we know.

Sleep, Tender Heart
sleep, tender heart
sleep like a fairy between petals;
sleep like a koala
safe and sound
concealed amongst leaves
sleep, gentle mind
like the innocent newborn
without a thought or care;
sleep like the moon
that crawls to its quiet
on the advent of the sun
sleep like the waves
that crawl to a lagoon
and still themselves for peace and rest
sleep, O gentle souls
and all you beautiful beings
sleep like the pervading stillness
before the world unfolded itself

Just when you think you've finally hit bottom, someone tosses you a shovel.
The Flight
The wings hope for a surge
And the will longs for a feel.
But the flight never takes off.
In the mid summer of pathos and pains
Blows not the breeze of relief
And the sky looks deserted for once.
Mind has a mystery unresolved
That spans the life time of fear and fog
Undone by the waves of smiles and words.
The candle burns down from the top
Casting a shadow of imminent death
And the cry of life reaches the shores far.
The nights have darkened than ever before
And the timid hours of sleep have begun to haunt.
There is a need for a flight indeed.
Unto the skies of unknown glory and expanse
Let my wings take me ever and ever..
And I know not when that will be.
