Explorations: VII
When earth caves
Under the feet
When words rain
sand particles
When what's held
Closest to breath
Throws one into
A maelstrom
When dust-storms
Of emotions blind
Eyes and mind
When whirlwinds
Drift one with
Merciless intensity
What's there to hold...?
Self-preservation
A supportive hand
Much talked of
Remain empty ideas
And emotional gimmicks...

Relationships--of all kinds--are like sand held in your hand. Held loosely, with an open hand, the sand remains where it is. The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on, the sand trickles through your fingers. You may hold onto some of it, but most will be spilled. A relationship is like that. Held loosely, with respect and freedom for the other person, it is likely to remain intact. But hold too tightly, too possessively, and the relationship slips away and is lost.

Monsoon Woes II
Nothing to set
Summer apart
Fading monsoon dreams!
Scorching sun
Dripping sweat
Awaiting rain!
Sterile cloud
Pricking heat
Rain holiday!
Reptiles crawling
Spewing hot venom
Respite sought!
Hot vapours rose
Still thirsty, sun gulped rain
Humid heat returns!
Drought gets sprinkled
Like arid seeds and dust
Darkness around eyes!
Sun stomps
Grass seed bud and beetle
Mud cakes'dirge!
Baked earth
Dry eyes
Silent mourning!
Clouds collide
Empty vessels cling clang
Wrinkled earth, lost!
Dust in the eyes
Dust in the ears
Dust in the hands!
Storms do rise
Not on the sea
Of dust on earth!
From cracks of earth
Crawl reptiles upwards
For cool respite!
Yesterday's dead dog
Lies baked and stiff
None to care!

Pebbles And Marbles
She started a blaze from one tiny spark
I didn't even detect
She loved the light, was dismayed by the dark
The stars, though, she seemed to respect
The faint light that flutters at night to the Earth
Would land in her eyes and collect
Luminous creatures she'd find in the surf
I never thought to inspect
Pebbles and marbles, like things on my mind
Seem to get lost and harder to find
When I am alone, I am inclined
If I find a pebble in the sand
To think that it fell from my hand
She gave me ideas, planted the seed
But she never stopped to reflect
The course that she's on, wherever it leads
I never would redirect
Pebbles and marbles, like words from a friend
Make us hold tight, but are lost in the end
When we're alone, we all seem to tend
If we find a marble in the dust
To wish someone left it for us
Pebbles and marbles, like things on my mind
Seem to get lost and harder to find
When I am alone, I am inclined
If I find a pebble in the sand
To wish that it fell from my hand
Pebbles and marbles, like things on my mind...

this Too Shall Pass Away...
everyone
everything
will be blown off
by the wind as
innumerable dust particles
on an evening of dust storms
everything
everyone
will simply be washed away
in a flash flood while the
world is fast asleep
as vulnerable as dust particles
and as susceptable to flood
why indulge in polemics...

Talked Me Into It
I'll stand and hold onto
everything I wished for
I'm stubborn, but you talked me into it
You have the key to my mind
I melt in front of you
You turn me on without trying
You talked me into it
And I let you, at that time
I could have believed
anything you said
You ignored me before that night
but I was desperate for your attention
If I was psychic,
woulda wished for anything but you
You talked me into it
Into everything I wished for
I'm stubborn, but you talked me into it
Wondered if you knew I existed
I was enchanted with you
Never felt more forgotten
I'm stubborn, but you laughed
Said, I'll never leave you in the rain
I took your word, let you
Talk me into it
You're the only one that has
enough of me to love
and wish
You talked me into it
Banished me to the back of your mind
after all these years
Never felt more forgotten
I'm stubborn, but
I remember that night
When you talked me into it
But I stood and held onto
everything I wished for
I'm stubborn, but you talked me into it
The Wizard of Clayton Close
He's steeped in the shadows of ivy and stone,
And time is the seed that the Wizard has sown,
Has sown for the magick of weaving the night
In a tapestry taken from burning delight.
Burning delight in the eyes of the mind he has
Stolen, to conjure insight for the blind, for the
Blind are the pebbles that litter his beach, while the
Tides of his mind set the blind out of reach.
The masonry wall is caught deep in the spell that he
Conjured forgotten, in some distant dell,
And if you should peer through the ivy and stone
There's a voice whispers... 'leave me, just leave me alone.
I've wandered with Ishtar, away from your eyes
From your spying and prying, away from your lies,
In the peril and terror that lonely men speak...
Seek not the undying, whatever you seek.'
But drawn to the shadows and drawn to the stone
I could leave him not ever, not leave him alone,
And turning one day to the light and the lace
He uncovered his forehead, uncovered his face.
I froze in the instant to question my mind for
The face spoke eternities, infinite time
And the stars held their place in the lips of the man
And the cheeks and the ears, and the eyes and the hand.
The wall crumbled inward as slowly I fell
Through his eyes to the stars, to the depths of his well,
And knowledge was mine as it never had been,
In my mind, misaligned, in the things that I'd seen.
But knowledge was danger, disaster and death
To the heart that would beat, to the mind, to the breath,
To the cheek of a girl or the smile of a man,
To the whisp' of the wind, to the shift of the sand.
And nothing exists in the nothing of me
But the stars and the sky, and the sand and the sea,
The light that was night and the dark of the day
As I drift in the tides of his vision away.
And look as I might for the eyes of his mind
I believe that the Wizard is totally blind,
That once in the depths of his well and his breath
We're imprisoned in freedom, the freedom from death.
If only the way was as clearly defined
In the world of the deaf and the dumb and the blind,
I'd crawl through the stars to the lids of his eyes
To the breadth of his world and the width of his lies.
For the comfort of woman and warmth of a man
I would give all the shift and the sift of the sand,
And not all the shadows of ivy and stone
Would lure me to walk in the winter alone.

A Strange Day
Give me your eyes
That i might see the blind man kissing my hands
The sun is humming
My head turns to dust as he plays on his knees
As he plays on his knees
And the sand
And the sea grows
I close my eyes
Move slowly through drowning waves
Going away on a strange day
And i laugh as i drift in the wind
Blind
Dancing on a beach of stone
Cherish the faces as they wait for the end
Sudden hush across the water
And we're here again
And the sand
And the sea grows
I close my eyes
Move slowly through drowning waves
Going away
On a strange day
My head falls back
And the walls crash down
And the sky
And the impossible
Explode
Held for one moment i remember a song
An impression of sound
Then everything is gone
Forever
A strange day

Big Dumb Rocket
Ive never seen your breath before
But Im disgusted by the thought of
Waiting anymore
If I look up in your eyes
Will you notice me or
Fade into this accident
I dont want to find
The big dumb rocket on your mind
Its mostly you and mostly me
And a tired gun thats not empty
Ive never been this sad before
But Im disgusted by my fingertips
And what theyve done
If I look into your eyes
If it must be true you must believe
Ive never held such violent things
Ive never talked to God before tonight
But Im disgusted by...

Emotional Highway
Heard youre up to no good
Doin everything I never would
Shakes me up
Brings me down
Puts my world six feet underground
Well I need to know whats going on
Before I lose my mind
If I catch you with her I dont know what Ill do
When I get home what will I find
Whoa emotional highway
Driving all night and day through the pouring rain
Ive heard a rumor now
Ive got to find out for myself
If my babys giving his heart to someone else
Well my minds playing tricks
To think of you and her just makes me sick
Every mile that I go
I keep praying I dont lose control
Well the road is long and conditions are bad
And all I think about is you
I dont have time to wait in line
Move over mister
Ive gotta get through
Whoa emotional highway
Driving all night and day through the pouring rain
Ive heard a rumor now
Ive got to find out for myself
If my babys getting it on with someone else
Emotional highway
Emotional highway
Emotional highway, emotional, emotional, emotional
Baby baby I know that were two of a kind
Thats why Ive got suspicion on my mind
Whoa emotional highway
Driving all night and day through the pouring rain
Ive heard a rumor now
Ive got to find out for myself
If my babys me up for someone else
Emotional highway
Emotional highway
Emotional highway, emotional, emotional, emotional
Got to get back, get back to my baby
Emotional highway
Emotional highway
Emotional highway, emotional, emotional, emotional
Got to get back, get back to my baby

Hindered By Water, Helped By Waves
You hold me steady in these tormented waters
Your eyes an anchor for dangerous emotions that rise
Hold me stable as the wicked wind slowly slaughters
All I hold close and I watch as they accept their demise
The wreckage around me both floating and drowned
Allow little reprieve from the facts that now burn into my mind
The hope of the foolish and despair of the old now surround
Me like the blanket that I embrace as my vision goes blind
To wake in the warmth, to wake to this world is unexpected
From the water that once caressed my body so determined
To rip through my skin and squeeze my lungs till my soul was accepted
Controls my destiny no longer as it rages against the burnt sand it's conserved in
Its fury cant be felt any longer as my feet float across a solid floor
And I have you to thank for that, be you illusion or solid flesh
For they tell me no man could hold such features as those I saw
A being out of a fantasy, strong tail and gills to allow underwater breath
So I'll look to you when the breath you saved escapes its last confines
Because no god of theirs ever cared to look upon my fallen friends
And pull from the wreckage any being that breathed life at the time
Nor did they wrap me in scales and dreams as I fought against the end
So my sweet man from a land so long forgotten in the waves
I will wait out my last day on this earth where air poisons even me
And once the last poison is expelled I will return to who my soul craves
To the water that swims through my veins and the being that I die to see

Painting dreams...
Gazing at an empty page,
Thoughts and emotions run wild.
A portrait of words come to life,
Like dreams of emotions dancing.
Images of us live on in written words,
Stirring my mind and emotions.
A world of dreams built within the mind,
Forever floating upon the emotions of fantasy...
Spread the love... The peace will follow...

Adapting To Global Warming Surge Storms
the earth is a degree warmly globally
an entire degree warmer in a century
meaning earth packs in more energy
into the atmosphere
meaning more evaporation
water in rain clouds
global warming means weather shifts
more rain faster harder causing floods
less rain more deserts causing famine
sea levels are coastline rising
glaciers ice caps are melting
means more frequent storm surges
so why build on frontline beaches coastline sand?
storms wind wave surges will inundate this land
move far inland rebuild on the solid rock mass!
won't take my advice fine
don't move stay storm blind
these words come to mind
'Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine
and puts them into practice is like a wise man
who built his house on the rock. The rain came down,
the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat
against that house; yet it did not fall, because it
had its foundation on the rock. But everyone
who hears these words of mine and does not put
them into practice is like a foolish man who built
his house on sand. The rain came down,
the streams rose, and the winds
blew and beat against that house,
and it fell with a great crash.' Matthew 7: 24-27.

Be Still, And Listen!
be still!
the One whose thoughts
conceive universes
out of particles of dust,
walks within you.
can you feel the ebb
and flow of the tide?
listen! you can hear
voices binding darkness
and light....
are they not merely echoes
of the living written
and etched into your memory?
what you call wind
is only the breath of God....
what you call rain, Her tears...
the empty place that's always
been hidden in your heart...
is only Her hand cupped
to catch your dreams....
whisper softly; Her voice blends
with yours.... and calls the robin
that builds a nest in your prayers!

Dont Hold Your Breath
One day Ill get home before the sun hits the blinds
And give you - Ill give you something to remember me by
Thats the way I am
Its what I got in mind but I dont know if I can
You gotta shoot your gun - dont expect me to dance
Hold me up to the spotlight but
Dont, dont hold your breath
Dont hold your breath
Dont hold your breath
Dont hold your breath
These empty pockets are my deepest friends
Full of nothing but good intentions
Thats the way it is
It may not be much but I can blow you a kiss
Ive been wrong - Ive been wrong once before
Ill be all right tomorrow but
Dont, dont hold your breath
Dont hold your breath
Dont hold your breath
Dont hold your breath
I may be lazy or a living wreck
I wont be swayed by your expectations
Thats the way it is
It may not be much but you know what to kiss
Ive been wrong - Ive been wrong once before
Ill be all right tomorrow but
Dont, dont hold your breath
Dont hold your breath
Dont hold your breath
Dont hold your breath

Comes A Time
Comes a time when the blind-man takes your hand, says dont you see?
Gotta make it somehow on the dreams you still believe.
Dont give it up, you got an empty cup only love can fill,
Only love can fill.
Been walking all morning went walking all night
I cant see much difference between the dark and light
And I feel the wind and I taste the rain
Never in my mind to cause so much pain.
Comes a time when the blind-man takes your hand, says dont you see?
Gotta make it somehow on the dreams you still believe.
Dont give it up, you got an empty cup only love can fill,
Only love can fill.
From day to day just letting it ride.
You get so far away from how it feels inside.
You cant let go cause youre afraid to fall,
But the day may come when you cant feel at all.
The words come out like an angry stream.
You hear yourself say things you could never mean.
When you cool down you find your mind.
You got a lot of words youve got to stand behind.
Comes a time when the blind-man takes your hand, says dont you see?
Gotta make it somehow on the dreams you still believe.
Dont give it up, you got an empty cup only love can fill,
Only love can fill, only love can fill, only love can fill.

Dust
As we drift through life
like a speck of dust in the air
seeking out good times
in which to share
with this heart that really cares
and as we drift through the days
our hopes start to fade
seeking dreams we never made
on a road never paved
with crumbled foundations that we had laid
waiting patiently for the dust to settle
in the hope that things get better
as I sit and write this letter
in my mind I try to be clever
seldom am I ever
in this world i`m never
will this dust remain forever

Emotional
Ooh yeah yeah yeah
Here comes the soul
Gimme that soul
Ooh hes emotional
Hes an emotional man
Sacrify the day
And bless the night
Want you to come and do me
Ooh hes emotional
Hes an emotional man
Hes got tears in his eyes
Watch him break down and cry
Watch me cry
Hear me babe
Was soll ich dir noch sagen
Es ist doch alles schon gesagt
Ohne uns sind wir die hlfte wert
Wir gehn vorbei und sehn es nicht
Hes a desperate man in a world so cold
Und du weit, ich habe ein herz wie ein lwe
Hes just longing for a woman to hold
Und das herz geht so lange zum messer bis es sticht
Do me
Ooh hes emotional
Hes an emotional man
So emotional
I had my woman right here
I had her in the palm of my hand
Want you to come and do me
Ooh hes emotional
So emotional
Hes an emotional man
Hes got tears in his eyes
Watch him break down and cry
Watch me cry
Still hear me babe
Ich wei, da die frau die mich ertrgt noch nicht geboren ist
Aber ich bitte dich, komm zur welt
Hes a desperate man in a world so cold
Und du weit, ich habe ein herz wie ein lwe
Hes just longing for a woman to hold
Und wenn du willst, dann geh ich down on my knees and pray to
The spirits above, do me
Ooh hes emotional
So emotional
Hes an emotional man
I had my woman right here
I had her in the palm of my hand
Want you to come and do me
Ooh hes emotional
So emotional
Hes an emotional man
Hes got tears in his eyes
Watch him break down and cry
Cry -
Watch me break down and cry
Tears in my eyes Ive got to cry cry
Tears in my eyes Ive got to cry cry
Watch me break down and cry
And pray to the spirits above and do me
Ooh hes emotional
So emotional
Hes an emotional man
I had my woman right here
I had her in the palm of my hand
Want you to come and do me
Ooh hes emotional
So emotional
Hes an emotional man
Hes got tears in his eyes
Watch him break down and cry
Cry -
Cry - hear me babe was soll ich dir noch sagen
Cry - es ist doch alles schon gesagt, du siehst ja wo ich bin
Cry - cant you see Im down on my knees
Cry - but Ill tell you something wenn nicht, dann nicht
Ooh hes emotional
So emotional
Hes an emotional man
I had my woman right here
I had her in the palm of my hand
Want you to come and do me
Ooh hes emotional
So emotional
Hes an emotional man
Hes got tears in his eyes

Blind Leading The Blind
Blind leading the blind
I tried to explain colors to a person who could not see
But I found it was too hard for me.
Then a thought came into my mind
To put their feelings into color and rhyme.
The first question I asked is:
WHAT DO YOU FEEL ABOUT “LOVE”?
“I feel like I’m flying high above the sky”
Then I will call that GREEN
For high above the earth, that color is seen.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT
WHEN YOU’RE FEELING “DOWN”?
It’s when I have no one to talk to and no one around.
Then I will call that BROWN.
WHAT ABOUT “SADNESS”?
That is when I lost something that cannot be replaced.
Then I will call that “GREY” for that
Is something which in your heart will stay.
WHAT ABOUT “LAUGHTER”?
That is when my stomach shakes like Jell-O.
Then I will call that emotion “YELLOW”
Then the final question I must ask
WHAT ABOUT GOD?
That is when I am lifted high above
All that I think and feel.
Since GOD is pure, I will call it white
Because he puts your heart and soul into flight.
“ we have enough colors for different emotions
Just like the raindrops that fall into the ocean.
Now the colors no longer have a barrier, because now
It has an emotional carrier.
Emotions and colors go hand in hand, just like the joining
In a wedding band.

Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain
(words & music by fred rose)
In the twilight glow I see her
Blue eyes crying in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew wed never meet again
Love is like a dying ember
Only memories remain
Through the ages I remember
Blue eyes crying in the rain
Someday when we meet up yonder
Well stroll hand in hand again
In a land that knows no parting
Blue eyes crying in the rain
Blue eyes crying in the rain
Blue eyes crying in the rain
Blue eyes crying in the rain

Will The Words Come Back?
Words slip off our pen
like warm butter off a knife.
They fall in unison across the page
with everything we write.
Then one day the words don’t flow
in unison like they used to before.
They have no rhythm within them
and just become no more than words.
We look at what we’ve written
and there is no bounce in them.
The words become no more than words
once written by a creative hand.
There is no meaning in what they say
they have no heart anymore.
They are just words written on a page
with no rhyme or reason for them being there.
Some call it a writer’s block;
others call it stagnation of the mind.
The creative juices fall away to nothing,
no spark to be kindled,
no emotions to be released,
no protests to be made,
no stories to be assembled
like a jigsaw in your mind.
Just an empty pen with words
that don’t make sense anymore.
Struggles without feeling,
ideas leading nowhere
on a spiralling downward turn.
You are no longer a writer,
your creativity is gone
and the only question you have,
will the words come came back?
