Life (Life Poem)

Birth gives life with an awful
Closeness, since today I
Sent a 1st birthday card
To a part of me, that
I gave to my son.
It crossed in the
Post with his
Card which
Read…

'Ian donates high quality kidney to his son'

In
Giving
We receive
More than we
Can ever expect
When we do what
Comes naturally to a
Parent in this cycle of
Life and living and love.

On Not Sending Christmas Cards

Dear Friends –
for friends you are, and friends
you will remain –

I’m not sending any cards this year –
so of course, I do not deserve to receive any,
by the human law of tit for tat…

So if you’re sending me a card
because you sent me one last year
and think I’ll notice if you don’t -
don’t bother.

If you’re sending me a card
just because I sent you one last year-
I don’t want it. Just don’t bother..

If you’re sending me a card
because we haven’t seen each other all the year,
maybe we should arrange to meet? Or
maybe we simply haven’t anything more
to say to each other?
Maybe we’re happier leaving it that way?
Don’t bother with a card..

If you're sending me a card
because - it's part of Chrismas fun -
and open hearts, and memories -
then, bless us every one...

If you’re sending me a card
because you never sent one before
and feel the urge – I’ll be delighted;
and if you don’t get one in return –
rest assured, that I’ll remember, and
we’ll probably soon meet;
and know: you have enrolled yourself
as my friend, anyway,
by that warming thought..

If you’re sending me a card
because you have me so deep
implanted in your heart
that your love for me is beyond a printed word –
then that’s the way that I reciprocate your love,
how could I not? Just don’t expect mere words –

though there’s a chance
a poem may wing its way one day
as whitest swans and downy doves
know in the air and space above
their heart’s true home..

for, if ever, for however short a time
you were my friend, or I to you – you are that
always. Always. This
is what the heart is for.

Birthday Card

I kiss the card I will send you
And wonder where you'll be.
When you cut your cake
Or raise a glass,
For goodness sake
Why can't I let it pass
But sadly, that's just me.
I should admit
That you don't care.
I will sit half drunk
And swear.
Then play music
That just makes me cry.
You see,
You never said goodbye.
I write in the card I will send you.
It's hard to put down love
In 2 lines.
I'm scarred
But think the sun still shines.
Why can't I get it into my head
What lives in me,
For you is dead.
And I will sit all night in a chair
Dreaming sunlight on your hair.
And you'll be another year older.
As I shed more tears and grow colder.
I post your birthday card with a sigh.
You see,
You never said goodbye.

If You Forget Me

If you forget me

Who ever you are?

It will mean nothing to me

Who will go on living

Having forgotten the purpose

To a life

That drags heavy footed

Through grey streets

If you forget me

Just remember,

I have already forgotten

You,

And if you remember this,

Please remind me,

So that I will stop posting you

A christmas card

Whoever you are,

We who are strangers

Who go on living

Because we have forgotten

The pointlessness to our lives

Or why we wear sensible shoes

At a certain age

Or why some eat cereal

While others go empty into the morning

Why where how?

If you forget me

Remember to remind me that,

I have already forgotten you

Then I promise to stop sending you a christmas card

Or wishing you a happy new year

And if I have forgotten that you who are living

Have died and are now dead,

Then forgive me for sending you all those post cards

Without a return to sender

I may have simply forgotten to read the small print

On the invite card

Or maybe it rained

or I had a cold

Or was too busy forgetting the day of the week

And the pointlessness to my existence

Which when forgotten

Along with you, my friend,

Is less bleak

Infact it is quite pleasant

Okay

So let's just forget the whole miserable affair, okay?

January Twenty-Third

Happy Birthday mom,
today you would have been,
One-Hundred-Three,
hard to believe, you have
been gone almost ten years.

Mom you use to tell me,
to call you, write you,
said I would, but never did,
over and over you told me,
someday I won't be here.

Mom I know that, I will write,
I will call, but never did.
She always, wrote, always called,
when ever we parted, I would always,
say, if I don't see you again,
I will see you in heaven.

Today mom, wished I could call
and tell you how much love have
I for you, so nice if I could send
a birthday card to you, that is not
to be, so this poem says it all.

Mom growing up, thought
you would be here forever, never
dreaming of losing you,
mom, wished I could be like,
you, so giving, so caring.

You always thought of others,
never of your self, you always,
lifted me up, encouraging me in so
many ways, your faith in me,
amazed me so.

So mother dear, have a happy
birthday in Heaven, love you so,
someday soon, will say happy
birthday to your face.

Zero Covers All

Lately I realize.
I am a numb number,
living through life.
First child.
Date of birth.
Sixth star of twenty-seven.
Scorpio numbers six of twelve.
Studied tenth class,
Then 5-year’s graduation,
Every class I had a scroll number.
Exams written on id number.
Studied law.
Head churning three years,
with numbered sections.
Penal code, constitution.
Clauses of law in numbered sects.
Registered in bar council.
Legal practice.
Case files are numbered.
Subsequently I got,
House number, door number.
Phone number.
Mobile number.
Account numbers.
Credit card number.
Pan card number,
Folio numbers,
Car number,
License number,
Policy number,
Health card number,
Election card number,
Passport number,
Ration card number,
Ultimately, when you put me in morgue,
allotted me a number.
Which, I do no know.
However, I know a number.
I am a big zero.
It covers all my life
Yes, we discovered zero.
What a relief?
Does it not cover all?
fulfill all values!
By the way your number please?
X number or N number?
Infinite numbers.

Only Thing That I Have From You

Only thing that I have from you is this rose
This rose that you have gave me when we were in love together
And now I found it between the old pages of memory
And we are apart forever
I remember how a nice day was that day together
When you gave me the red rose and I wished that our love will last forever

Only thing that I have from you is this post card
This post card that means the worlds for me
Makes me feel all that had happend between us was just a nightmare
And I will wake up one day to be with you and never apart

Only thing that I have from you is this poem
This poem that you wrote for me, promising me to love forever
And now I am reading it and we are apart till ever

Only thing that I have from you is this sorrowful heart
This heart that still has your great love inside
Forgetting you was a nightmare for it
This heart that cried bloody tears for your love
Never and ever forgod you my sweet!

50-card Steve

There goes 3-card Mike
with all he can fight
when he left yesterday
he shoulda went right

And theres 5-card Billy
with 7-card Jack
they both get silly
smokin' that crack

And Alabama Chuck
has been down on his luck
he shoulda played Razz
instead of 7-card Stud

But they all have something in common
when they all pack up and leave-
They never had a clue
while playin' with 50-card Steve,
that he always had you
with that Ace up his sleeve.

Stuff

The realization has just fallen:
Her birthday card to me has been
Hidden on my desk-that
Cluttered mess of books and stuff (count: I) -
And since last August I forgot
That it was there.

[Over time, I oft overlook the opus words that
Make life more marvelous, less mundane.]

Have I been too worried with myself? Does she mind
My mind still figuring, still learning stuff (count: II) ?
The craft card on my desktop counter
Sits still. It is opened, words re-read.
And 'til next August,
There it rests.

As always,
Every word is a delight.

For The Love Of You

Well, well well well
Drifting on a memory
Ain't no place I'd rather be than with you, yes
Loving you, well well well
Day will make the way for night
All we need is candlelight
And a song, ooh, soft and long
Well well well, like to be
We're alone with a love unlike no other
Sad to see, a new horizon slowly coming into view
I want to be living for the love of you
All that I'm giving is for the love of you
Lovely as a ray of sun
That touches me when the morning comes
Feels good to me
Well, my loving me, loving me
Smoother then a gentle breeze
Blowing from my mind with ease
Soft as can be
When you're loving me, when you're loving me
I love to be
Riding the waves of love enchanted with your touch
It seems to me
We can sail together in and out of mystery
I want to be living for the love of you
All that I'm giving is for the love of you
I know that I'm living for the love of you, oh yes I do
All that I'm giving, giving is for the love of you
Paradise and heaven things can't feel as secure again
You're the key
This I see
Now and then I lose my way
Using words I try to say what I feel
Yeah, this is so real, so real
I might as well, sign my name on a card that could say it better
Time will tell
Cause it seems that I've done just about all that I can do, I can do
I want to be living for the love of you, oh yes I do
All that I'm giving is for the love of you
I wanna be living for the love of you, oh yes I do
All that I'm giving is for the love of you
Each and every day I'm living for the love of you
Said that I'm giving for the love of you

Part Of Life, That is

Few get to sit in the midst of it.
Part of life that is.
With the giving of opinion and the giving of lip.
Part of life that is.
Few get to sit in the midst of it.
Part of life that is.
With the giving of opinion and the giving of lip.
Part of life that is.

Stuck with sticking emotions felt in my gut...
Unable to abandon them.
Or give them up...
Had been a place I'd been,
Back then.
With no one but myself...
And faith,
To help me slowly break away...
Of a hold I had on them to mend.

Few get to sit in the midst of it.
Part of life that is.
With the giving of opinion and the giving of lip.
Part of life that is.

I have learned to feel grief deeply,
Where it is felt.
Let it visit.
And then from it to leave!
Not to forget the process...
But to breathe!

Remembering...
With an agony upon my letting go,
Knowing what I felt was painful...
It was also,
Part of life!

A part of life,
That is!

Few get to sit in the midst of it.
Part of life that is.
With the giving of opinion and the giving of lip.
Part of life that is.
Few get to sit in the midst of it.
Part of life that is.
With the giving of opinion and the giving of lip.
Part of life that is.

Few get to sit in the midst of it.
Part of life that is.
With the giving of opinion and the giving of lip.
Part of life that is.

Happy Birthday!

My dearest Sonja today is fifteen,
She is her parent’s queen.
She is so sweet and nice,
She is her parent’s prize.
On the 18th of April
She turned her life’s 16th page,
She is so beautiful at her teen age.
Happy birthday, my dearest student!
Be always prudent!
May all your wishes come true,
May all your days be sunny and the sky blue.
I wish you fine and simple pleasures,
I wish you all of life’s best treasures,
I wish you all the years of laughter,
I wish you happiness ever after.
God bless you today and the whole life trough!
Happy birthday to you!

Six Feet Under

In the morning I wake up
And in the night I sleep
Since the day that I was born
Repeat, repeat, repeat
Brought to this life
Born to this life
Where was I before?
Non-existent? not at all?
Will I ever know?
Today is my birthday
And I get one every year
And some day...
Hard to believe
But Ill be buried six feet underground
Subconsciously motivated natural instinct
Alter nature for the pleasure
Orthocycline
Flirt with conception
Slow the cycle
Will the baby grow?
Social tradition interference
Control, control, control
Today is my birthday
And I get one every year
And some day...
Hard to believe
But Ill be buried six feet underground
Ill be dead and gone, no longer around
Spinng, spinning
Before I can recall
All the unknown chemicals
Control the cycle
The successive generations
From dust to dust
Burying my grandma
Then give birth to my own daughter
Today is my birthday
And I get one every year
And some day...
Hard to believe
But Ill be buried six feet underground
Today is my birthday
And I get one every year
And some day...
Hard to believe
But Ill be buried six feet undergrounf
Ill be dead and gone, no longer around
Ill be burried six feet underground.

Birthday Card

It is impossible to comprehend
How meaningful friends disappear,
I have a lifetime of flowers
To remember from when you were here.

Love has no end,
I know you will receive it.

Solitair, a teacher

Solitaire is a card game
Developed for playing
By self with no opponent
The fact is you are
Playing your own self
This is what
Solitaire teaches you

You shuffle cards
You distribute them
Upside down
Over eight or ten rows
Not knowing which card
Lays where and in what order
Keeping only the top layer open

You start arranging
Cards in descending order
As you move an open card
The card immediately under
Opens up
The card opening up may or may ot be
Matching your requirements
While opening up card
Depends on your luck
Card moving is totally
Left to you and
A lot depends on your skill
But you keep playing
Till the time either you win
By accumulating suits in order
Or when you get stuck
With no more moving of cards possible
And you lose the game

Life is like that only
And as in solitaire you play it alone
Though you seemingly have partners
And you must know that
You are all alone playing your game
You act on visible opportunities
And as you act upon this
New venues opening up
One by one
Either to your surprise or shock
Still you keep playing the game of life
Expecting each time when you act
There will be favourable changes
And with further scopes for gaining

The only difference is that
You quit the game in solitaire
But in life the game leaves you
At its discretion
Leaving you to wonder
Whether you are a winner or loser

Would-Be Birthday

Today is your would-be birthday
You would be 23 today
but you aren't here.
You would be living a life
worthy of your legend.
You would be listening to me
tell you I love you
and that we've only got one more year to wait.
Today is your would-be birthday
You woulda been
coulda been
so much more.
But it's only your would-be birthday
You would be 23 today
but you aren't here.

The color of my life

I remember…
Her pouty red lips, when she wouldn’t get her way
The blush in her cheeks when her hand grazed mine
The freshly picked hibiscus that clung in her hair
And the mosquito bite that she wouldn’t stop scratching

The red and white striped hat
Atop the cat of the book we used to read
The little red shoes she wore for Halloween
And the six little flames flickering on her birthday cake

The color of my young fingertips
When she squeezed my hand in hers
As the spots of blood leaked from her fallen knee
Flushing her tear stricken cheeks red

The color of the first Valentine card I gave to her
And the color of the last rose, I almost gave to her

The color of the burning sky
As we both silently waited for our parents to come
The bright red brake lights of her parent’s car
Leaving the school and me behind

The color of the balloon that slipped out of her hand
And floated out into the eternal blue sky
I remember… the red in my life

Consummate Bliss

Shall I dare tell my love what I’m thinking
In the veil’s of a valentine card
Or step from the shadows and tell her
Can verity transpire so hard
Will she laugh at my amour intended
Or melt in my arms with a kiss
Make excuses, to let me down slowly
Or leave me in consummate bliss

Will she read my card and implore me
To triumphantly sweep her away
Will this card lead her in my direction
Will this Valentine make it my day
Shall she wonder who wrote this poor sonnet
That is sent on the wings of a dove
Will her heart beat with glee when she knows it is me
And reward me with her perfect love
