Happiness (Love Poem)

Is a million memories...

Like your favourite Beatles track,
Like breakfast coffee in a Turin bar,
Like the old friends that never grow old,
Like your favourite Italian pasta in Rome,
Like summer swims in warm sea with cold rain,
Like the aria which sends shivers down your spine,
Like the magical taste of Gaja Barberesco for lunch,
Like coming home to a smiling face after a long trip,
Like your child buying you dinner for the first time,
Like how beautiful she was on your wedding day,
Like your first date movie being on TV again,
Like capturing a moment in a photograph,
Like rereading your favourite book,
Like watching Casablanca again,
Like publishing your first book,
Like living every moment...

... And a million more to come.

In Your Room

In your room
Where time stands still
Or moves at your will
Will you let the morning come soon
Or will you leave me lying here
In your favourite darkness
Your favourite half-light
Your favourite consciousness
Your favourite slave
In your room
Where souls disappear
Only you exist here
Will you lead me to your armchair
Or leave me lying here
Your favourite innocence
Your favourite prize
Your favourite smile
Your favourite slave
I'm hanging on your words
living on your breath
feeling with your skin
Will I always be here
In your room
Your burning eyes
Cause flames to arise
Will you let the fire die down soon
Or will I always be here
Your favourite passion
Your favourite game
Your favourite mirror
Your favourite slave
I'm hanging on your words
living on your breath
feeling with your skin
Will I always be here

The Hustler

Time to get up
Make a move
Put the brain in gear
Cut the groove
Moving slow
With a smiling face
Never look like you want it
'Til it's right in your face
I'm the hustler
Playing my favourite game
Yeah I'm the hustler
Everybody knows my name
Well I can get all around you
While I think you stand still
The way you tell me you won't
Let's me know that you will
Last thing you tell them
Is what you came here for
The're never going to find out
'Til you way out the door
'Cos I'm the hustler
Playing my favourite game
Yeah I'm the hustler
Everybody knows my name
You got to love the work you do
How long it takes
Ain't important to you
Don't care whats in it
Loving every minute
Every minute, every hour
Every second of the day
Little by little
I see it coming my way
I'm the hustler
Playing my favourite game
Yeah I'm the hustler
Everybody knows my name

Christmas Is My Favorite Time Of The Year

How wise the Wisemen
Must have been
To find the Child
In Bethlehem
He lives again
And draws u-us near-ear
Christmas time is here
A tail of love
That never dies
The laughter in
The childre-en's eyes
The child in me
Is alway-ays there
Christmas is my favourite time
Of year
The mist of wonder
Lies under my tree
The gift of memories
Is waiting for me...ee-ee-ee-ee-ee
The day will come
And soon depart
The spirit stays
To hear my-y heart
With love for people
Everywhere-ere
Christmas is my favourite time
Of the year-ear...

Of the year-ear...

Far From Home

You two, father and son - went to look for
cars at auction, came back having bought
curtains for our son's bedroom, I was so
prejudiced - but you were right

Such great effect: grey, black and beige made
the yellow pelmet, remnant of a creative phase
when I spray-painted long ago; look beautiful,
his room has new appeal

Nici, my college daughter, doing research on
photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson whose
book ‘The Decisive Moment' shows photos
taken on the run, the title sounds

Like a horror movie, Nici says, I offer ideas which
are firmly rejected by the young demoiselle, she
knows her own mind - my nuclear family makes
life worthwhile, everybody giving advice

For a trip to Stonehenge in the Free State, a
Strategic Planning Session, Nici choosing
teddies to take along, Tiaan suggesting
books to read - while hubby lectures

On food that will be safe; I cherish my new
book, looking for a favourite pillow which
might help me to sleep when
I'm alone, far from home…

The Simple Pleasures of Life

Going for a walk
reading a book
dunking a biscuit
in your cup of tea.
Soaking tired feet
in a warm bowl of water
having an early night
a good nights sleep.
Hearing a child's laughter
a letter from a loved one
listening to a favourite song
watching a really good movie.
Playing a sport you like
enjoying good company
being content on your own
making new friends.
Observing nature
walking the dog
being in a garden
smelling the flowers.
Simple pleasures
simple tastes
simple life.

IF you remember every word in this book, your memory will have recorded about two million pieces of information: the order in your brain will have increased by about two million units. However, while you have been reading the book, you will have converted at least a thousand calories of ordered energy, in the form of food, into disordered energy, in the form of heat that you lose to the air around you by convection and sweat. This will increase the disorder of the universe by about twenty million million million million units - or about ten million million million times the increase in order in your brain - and that's if you remember everything in this book.

A Musical Send Off

As the funeral came to a close
his favourite record was played out loud
All Right Now by Free was his song
I'm sure his feet were tapping under his shroud.
Which made me think about my ending
and what tune would I like to pick?
it would have to be something lively
one with a nice beat and a kick.
Highway to Hell by ACDC would be bad
as that could be really tempting fate
Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum
now that would sound awesome and great.
Classical music would be too sombre
and have me turning in my grave
Stairway to Heaven by Zeppelin is better
but please no Rap, Disco, or Rave.
Something by the Beatles would be nice
or Yesterday or maybe even Hey Jude,
but definetly not the track called Help!
and a sexy song would just sound rude,
In the end I'd probably stick with a hymn
and select my favourite Amazing Grace
because I'm sure it's the Lords favourite
as after all he wrote it for all the human race.

A Melody In Eternity 4.29.2009

Without a new book to hold my mind and
focus my thoughts, I’m at a loose end to-
night; started singing my favourite songs
in intervals of thirds or sixes; delighted by
the vibration felt right through my being

I sometimes cry over the loss of song in
my life; I never dissolve into a song any-
more; still cherishing the melodies that
used to drive me to tears when I was
small – I SHALL become a song

A melody playing in eternity, my song shall
include all the notes from high soprano to
low bass, I shall feel the joy reverberate
through all of me until the only thing left
is the song - nothing else

Holds the same enchantment; to become
my favourite song, crying with the notes
of the sweetest melody, is my
favourite fantasy....

Twenty Million Things

If it's fix a fence, find the dance
I got lots of experience
Read got sped and all the letters
Never written but don't get said
Comes from confusion
All the things I left undone
It comes from moment to moment,
Day to day, time seems to slip away
But I got twenty million things to do
Twenty million things
All I can think about is you
Well, twenty million things,
Twenty million things to do
I got mysterious,
Mysterious hanging in the air
Rocking-chair hast post to fix
Well it came undid and all the things
That I let slip I found out quick
It comes from moment to moment
Day to day and time seems to slip away
But I got twenty million things to do
Twenty million things
All I can think about is you
And twenty million, twenty million things to do

A Moment In A Million Years

Music : klaus meine
Lyrics: klaus meine
The lights are slowly fading down
Theres no one else, just you and me
Nothing ever changed
I see your faces in the crowd
It seems I know each one of you
For all my life
I wish this night could last forever
But its time to go
I saw you laugh, I saw you cry
All for one and one for all
Nothing ever changed
The way you sang just blew my mind
It gave me chills from head to toe
What a glorious night
To me it could have lasted forever
But its time to go
A moment in a million years
Is all Ive got for you
A moment in a million years
To make some dreams come true
A moment that I wont forget
Until the day I die
A moment in a million years
Called life
The bus is waiting right outside
To hit the road and once again
I leave you all behind
I chase another dream tonight
And by the time youll be home
Ill be far away
Nothing seems to last forever
Its time to go
A moment in a million years
Is all Ive got for you
A moment in a million years
To make some dreams come true
A moment that I wont forget
Until the day I die
A moment in a million years
Called life

Coffee!

Coffee beans all ground up,
Coffee in my favourite cup,
Coffee black, coffee white,
Coffee dark, coffee light,
Coffee right, to start the day,
Coffee at work, coffee at play,
Coffee midday, coffee at night,
Coffee to sober, coffee to excite,
Coffee weak, coffee strong,
But maybe instead some Lapsang Souchong! ! ! !
TEA! ! ! ! !

Love At First Light

It's the crack of noon
And i sit here watching you sleeping
I only wish that i could remember your name
But i know it's written on a matchbook somewhere
And maybe i'll find it, and maybe i'll care
Or maybe your'll fix me with one of those stares
And put up a fight
So when you awake i admit i'm relieved
When you flash me a smile like a diamond
And just for a moment i almost believe
In love at first light
I propose a breakfast of coffee and aspirin
You laugh, suggesting a raw egg or two
But oh was it ever so good being bad?
Like a couple of vampires, deliciously mad
Saying this is the best blood that we've ever had
So we drank it all night
And it we untangle the webs that we weave
Then mayber there's room for more laughter
'Cos just for a moment i almost believe
In love at first light
Feeling cold
You put a robe 'round my shoudlers
Smile and pull one of your favourite books form my shelf
Let's opens the curtains and let out the dark
And if the sun doesn't melt us and there's still a spark
And we do something human like walk in the park
The spark could ignite
So maybe i'm moonstruck, or maybe naive
But i know there's a God and a Devil
So maybe i'm crazy enough to believe
In love at first light

Rudyard Kipling

I Keep Six Honest...

I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.
I send them over land and sea,
I send them east and west;
But after they have worked for me,
I give them all a rest.

I let them rest from nine till five,
For I am busy then,
As well as breakfast, lunch, and tea,
For they are hungry men.
But different folk have different views;
I know a person small-
She keeps ten million serving-men,
Who get no rest at all!

She sends'em abroad on her own affairs,
From the second she opens her eyes-
One million Hows, two million Wheres,
And seven million Whys!

I am not Destiny's favourite child

I may not be
Destiny’s favourite child,
But I have no doubt
I am one of a kind.

Of my imperfections
I am not blind,

But in my strengths
I do take pride.

I am what I am
I have nothing to hide.

I am my favourite
Even I am surprised.

Don’t be narcissistic
My elders sermonise.

Love yourself
Is my motto in life.

So I move with
Confidence in my stride.

Gone Shootin

Feel the pressure rise
Hear the whistle blow
Found a ticket of her own accord [on her roller car]
[to | yeah | that] I dont know
Packed her heart in a travelling bag [fought so hard in a travelin band]
And never said bye bye
Somethings missing in the neighbourhood
All the cryin eyes
I stirred my coffee with the same spoon [a stupor caught me with the sin spoon]
Do a favourite tune [to her favourite jewel]
Gone shootin
My babys gone shootin
Wrap yourself around
Like a second skin
Packed her favourite bag [packed|picked her favourite nag]
But she could never win
I took [your | a | her] number in another town
She took another pill
She was runnin in overdrive
Up until my overkill [a victim of overkill]
She never made it past the bedroom door
What was she aiming for? [why Id thought shed even pour]
Gone shootin
Shes gone, gone gone gone
Gone shootin
My babys gone shootin
Lil child
Gone shootin
I thought that she wouldnt even know
Gone shootin
Hey look out, look out, look out, look out!
Gone shootin
Shes shootin heroin!
Gone shootin
Shes shootin loaded
Shes gone, shes gone, shes gone, shes gone
Gone shootin
Im gonna have to get a gun
Look out, look out
She could have anyone
She sure is loaded
I used to love her so [like a rubber soul]
