On an Occasion of National Mourning
It is admittedly difficult for a whole
Nation to mourn and be seen to do so, but
It can be done, the silvery platitudes
Were waiting in their silos for just such
An emergent occasion, cards of sympathy
From heads of state were long ago prepared
For launching and are bounced around the world
From satellites at near the speed of light,
The divine services are telecast
From the home towns, children are interviewed
And say politely, gravely, how sorry they are,
And in a week or so the thing is done,
The sea gives up its bits and pieces and
The investigating board pinpoints the cause
By inspecting bits and pieces, nothing of the sort
Can ever happen again, the prescribed course
Of tragedy is run through omen to amen
As in a play, the nation rises again
Reborn of grief and ready to seek the stars;
Remembering the shuttle, forgetting the loom.

Whores of a Disposal Culture
Why would a people willfully give away
Bits and pieces of a heritage so rich and timeless...
Or become isolated and indifferent
As to not prepare for their own survival?
Why would a people playfully disregard,
Foundations of strength those unrelated
Claim as their own?
Even prostitutes have a price,
For services not rendered!
Can it be no one sees,
The whores of a disposable culture?
Uniting to release idle pleasures,
Giving away treasures...
Ancestors from the cradle of life,
Sought to keep within the family? !

Giving Way To New Beginnings
when i arrive home
today
it rains heavily
there is no one home
i have my own key still
i open the door and close it
i hear quite clearly my
footsteps reverberating
in all the corners of the
wooden room
there is a sad music
attached to each footfall
i open the glass door
to hear once again the sonorous
sounds of the rain falling
on the tin roof
gushing and
flowing freely
upon the gutters
down in
the drain
it is like remembering
and then wanting to forget
but then forgetting
may sometimes mean
the pain of having
to throw off yourself

suffering is an unseen
ghost
it haunts me in my
forest
the worms sometimes sing
and it is
more often than not
disturbing
specks of light sometimes
come in
like a drizzle of rain
it does not wet me
but makes me smooth and
glowing
a halo of bubbles
often comes out from the locks
of my hair
but i do not really mind
that indeed in every aspect
of everyday suffering

do constantly happen
