The Heart of the Swag
Oh, the track through the scrub groweth ever more dreary,
And lower and lower his grey head doth bow;
For the swagman is old and the swagman is weary—
He’s been tramping for over a century now.
He tramps in a worn-out old “side spring” and “blucher,”
His hat is a ruin, his coat is a rag,
And he carries forever, far into the future,
The key of his life in the core of his swag.
There are old-fashioned portraits of girls who are grannies,
There are tresses of dark hair whose owner’s are grey;
There are faded old letters from Marys and Annies,
And Toms, Dicks, and Harrys, dead many a day.
There are broken-heart secrets and bitter-heart reasons—
They are sewn in a canvas or calico bag,
And wrapped up in oilskin through dark rainy seasons,
And he carries them safe in the core of his swag.
There are letters that should have been burnt in the past time,
For he reads them alone, and a devil it brings;
There were farewells that should have been said for the last time,
For, forever and ever the love for her springs.
But he keeps them all precious, and keeps them in order,
And no matter to man how his footsteps may drag,
There’s a friend who will find, when he crosses the Border,
That the Heart of the Man’s in the Heart of his swag.

You seem so strong, now
My arms will hold you
Keep you safe and warm, This
bond between us
Can't be broken
So im gonna be here dont you cry
Cuz

You'll be in my heart,
You'll be in my heart,
From this day on,
Now and forever more,

THEY just don't trust what they cant explain,
I know we're different,

The Swagman's Rest
We buried old Bob where the bloodwoods wave
At the foot of the Eaglehawk;
We fashioned a cross on the old man's grave
For fear that his ghost might walk;
We carved his name on a bloodwood tree
With the date of his sad decease
And in place of "Died from effects of spree"
We wrote "May he rest in peace".
For Bob was known on the Overland,
A regular old bush wag,
Tramping along in the dust and sand,
Humping his well-worn swag.
He would camp for days in the river-bed,
And loiter and "fish for whales".
"I'm into the swagman's yard," he said.
"And I never shall find the rails."
But he found the rails on that summer night
For a better place -- or worse,
As we watched by turns in the flickering light
With an old black gin for nurse.
The breeze came in with the scent of pine,
The river sounded clear,
When a change came on, and we saw the sign
That told us the end was near.
He spoke in a cultured voice and low --
"I fancy they've 'sent the route';
I once was an army man, you know,
Though now I'm a drunken brute;
But bury me out where the bloodwoods wave,
And, if ever you're fairly stuck,
Just take and shovel me out of the grave
And, maybe, I'll bring you luck.
"For I've always heard --" here his voice grew weak,
His strength was wellnigh sped,
He gasped and struggled and tried to speak,
Then fell in a moment -- dead.
Thus ended a wasted life and hard,
Of energies misapplied --
Old Bob was out of the "swagman's yard"
And over the Great Divide.
The drought came down on the field and flock,
And never a raindrop fell,
Though the tortured moans of the starving stock
Might soften a fiend from hell.
And we thought of the hint that the swagman gave
When he went to the Great Unseen --
We shovelled the skeleton out of the grave
To see what his hint might mean.
We dug where the cross and the grave posts were,
We shovelled away the mould,
When sudden a vein of quartz lay bare
All gleaming with yellow gold.
'Twas a reef with never a fault nor baulk
That ran from the range's crest,
And the richest mine on the Eaglehawk
Is known as "The Swagman's Rest".

Forever
Take these roses all from me
Let me live, let me be
For a little while
Let my eyes,
See everything and nothing in their time
I do not mind
Who've guess I'd learn
To let the walls around me burn
Light up the hillside
My words, I ate them for so long and nothing changed
It was just the same
And I don't know if you see me
But I can tell you your face is clear
I will see you...
Forever
Forever
I will see you
Forever
Forever
Call me close once again
Call me teacher, call me friend
Just like the first time
Call my name, it echos around me in this room
Its all you
I don't know if you hear me there
But it's dark so no one cares
I will hear you...
Forever
Forever
I will hear you
Forever
Forever
I wanted you to be everything to me
Now I've got to learn to carry on
I know I cannot hide this emptiness inside
But nothing is the same since you've gone
Send me letters from above
Send me strength, send me love
Such sweet love
Sing me songs that echo in my head and in my heart
That's where you are
And I don't know if you feel me here
I can tell you one thing that's clear
I will feel you...
Forever
Forever
I will feel you
Forever
Forever
I will hear you
Forever
Forever
I will see you
Forever
Forever
Take these roses all from me
Let me live, let me be

A passion for a hat
A passion for a hat
Passion is for people who can have passion
Love is for everyone, time and time again
Letters for mistakes can altar a mind
Too much of the same can dull the person's precious time
But what if to find the kind of love that can sun burn your heart
Poison your heart, blacken your heart
What if, what if, why do you call me, why, why, why, hello
Nothing lasts forever, don’t you know meow says the cat so I hit it with a baseball bat
Not for being a cat but for peeing on my favorite hat

Best Friend (Song)
Verse 1:
We may be far apart
But you’re safe here in my heart
You’re my sister
You’re my twin
Chorus:
Because you’re my best friend,
You’re my twin!
Don’t you worry
We will be together in the end
No matter where are
I know were wishin’ on the same bright star!
No matter where we go
We will always know always know…
Verse 2:
You are my smile
You are my blood
I will surround your broken heart
With love
You are my best friend
Now and forever
We’ll be together
Now and forever
CHORUS:
Bridge:
That you’re my best friend
Till’ the end
No matter the trials
No matter the miles
That seem to separate
No on can relate
Now and forever
We are twins together
Verse 3:
Don’t worry ‘bout
Cuz’ it may never come
Don’t worry ‘bout the future
Nor the rising sun
We will always
Have a home together
Your place is here
Now and forever
CHORUS:
Because you’re my twin
You’re my best friend
We will stay together
Now and forever…

Footsteps
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
Whenever trouble comes around
Or lonely nights lead underground
And far in the dark
Abandoned cars suddenly start up
An anxious sound
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
When loneliness induces fear
Like waves against a
Ramshackle pier
When thunder and rain
Scar the windowpane once again
I want you near
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
Im longing to see you
I want you, I need you
Like a child who feels afraid
Of the dark at night
Hoping to hear a gentle touch
Turning on a welcome light
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps

The Old Mile-Tree
OLD coach-road West by Nor’-ward—
Old mile-tree by the track:
A dead branch pointing forward,
And a dead branch pointing back.
And still in clear-cut romans
On his hard heart he tells
The miles that were to fortune,
The miles from Bowenfels.
Old chief of Western timber!
A famous gum you’ve been.
Old mile-tree, I remember
When all your boughs were green.
There came three boyish lovers
When golden days begun;
There rode three boyish rovers
Towards the setting sun.
And Fortune smiled her fairest
And Fate to these was kind—
The truest, best and rarest,
The girls they’d left behind.
By the camp-fire’s dying ember
They dreamed of love and gold;
Old mile-tree, I remember
When all our hearts were bold.
And when the wrecks of those days
Were sadly drifting back,
There came a lonely swagman
Along the dusty track;
And save for limbs that trembled—
For weak and ill was he—
Old mile-tree, he resembled
The youngest of the three.
Beneath you, dark and lonely,
A wronged and broken man
He crouched, and sobbed as only
The strong heart broken can.
The darkness wrapped the timber,
The stars seemed dark o’erhead—
Old mile-tree, I remember
When all green leaves seemed dead.

Old Stone Chimney
The rising moon on the peaks was blending
Her silver light with the sunset glow,
When a swagman came as the day was ending
Along a path that he seemed to know.
But all the fences were gone or going—
The hand of ruin was everywhere;
The creek unchecked in its course was flowing,
For none of the old clay dam was there.
Here Time had been with his swiftest changes,
And husbandry had westward flown;
The cattle tracks in the rugged ranges
Were long ago with the scrub o’ergrown.
It must have needed long years to soften
The road, that as hard as rock had been;
The mountain path he had trod so often
Lay hidden now with a carpet green.
He thought at times from the mountain courses
He heard the sound of a bullock bell,
The distant gallop of stockmen’s horses,
The stockwhip’s crack that he knew so well:
But these were sounds of his memory only,
And they were gone from the flat and hill,
For when he listened the place was lonely,
The range was dumb and the bush was still.
The swagman paused by the gap and faltered,
For down the gully he feared to go,
The scene in memory never altered—
The scene before him had altered so.
But hope is strong, and his heart grew bolder,
And over his sorrows he raised his head,
He turned his swag to the other shoulder,
And plodded on with a firmer tread.
Ah, hope is always the keenest hearer,
And fancies much when assailed by fear;
The swagman thought, as the farm drew nearer,
He heard the sounds that he used to hear.
His weary heart for a moment bounded,
For a moment brief he forgot his dread;
For plainly still in his memory sounded
The welcome bark of a dog long dead.
A few steps more and his face grew ghostly,
Then white as death in the twilight grey;
Deserted wholly, and ruined mostly,
The Old Selection before him lay.
Like startled spectres that paused and listened,
The few white posts of the stockyard stood;
And seemed to move as the moonlight glistened
And paled again on the whitened wood.
And thus he came, from a life long banished
To other lands, and of peace bereft,
To find the farm and the homestead vanished,
And only the old stone chimney left.
The field his father had cleared and gardened
Was overgrown with saplings now;
The rain had set and the drought had hardened
The furrows made by a vanished plough.
And this, and this was the longed-for haven
Where he might rest from a life of woe;
He read a name on the mantel graven—
The name was his ere he stained it so.
‘And so remorse on my care encroaches—
‘I have not suffered enough,’ he said;
‘That name is pregnant with deep reproaches—
‘The past won’t bury dishonoured dead!’
Ah, now he knew it was long years after,
And felt how swiftly a long year speeds;
The hardwood post and the beam and rafter
Had rotted long in the tangled weeds.
He found that time had for years been sowing
The coarse wild scrub on the homestead path,
And saw young trees by the chimney growing,
And mountain ferns on the wide stone hearth.
He wildly thought of the evil courses
That brought disgrace on his father’s name;
The escort robbed, and the stolen horses,
The felon’s dock with its lasting shame.
‘Ah, God! Ah, God! is there then no pardon?’
He cried in a voice that was strained and hoarse;
He fell on the weeds that were once a garden,
And sobbed aloud in his great remorse.
But grief must end, and his heart ceased aching
When pitying sleep to his eye-lids crept,
And home and friends who were lost in waking,
They all came back while the stockman slept.
And when he woke on the empty morrow,
The pain at his heart was a deadened pain;
And bravely bearing his load of sorrow,
He wandered back to the world again.

Open Your Heart
Tis' one life you have,
Open your heart to love.
Love your wife, your son,
Daughter, husband, or special one.
Friends never turn away-
Open your heart to love every day.
Your scars will be many;
Much pain there will be.
Knives will cut deep;
Your eyes will for years weep.
At times you will wonder,
Is it really worth it all?
To love, feel, and cry,
Or to raise walls and inside die?
The latter seems the safer,
But behind walls doth one falter.
For we were made to live,
To love, breathe, and give.
To hide behind the walls,
Slowly one falls.
Petrified till no longer a soul,
Just grey stone, dead and cold.
Never able to move beyond,
The wail of a heart break song.
Forever in the past,
Never in the future, this his cast.
Never the chance feel,
The warmth of love so real;
The closeness of a friend,
When you are facing the bitter end.
Just a life of reclusion,
Doomed to seclusion.
A life wasted, a life for nothing.
A life of pain and bluffing.
Woe to sad memory,
But happy ones will never flee.
To love and live,
Or to die all stiff.
The choice is all yours,
What will be your course?
Please please open your heart,
Though it may be oft torn apart.
For if you don't ever,
True life experience you will never.
Tis' one life you have:
Open your heart to love.

Now, while were here alone
And all is said and done
Now I can let you know
Because of all youve shown
Ive grown enough to tell you
Youll always be inside of me
How many roads have gone by
So many words left unspoken
I needed to be by your side
If only to hold you
Chorus:
Forever in my heart
Forever we will be
And even when Im gone
Youll be here in me
Forever
Once, I dreamed that you were gone
I cried out trying to find you
I begged the dream to fade away
And please awaken me
But night took a hold of my heart
And left me with no one to follow
The love that I lost to the dark
Ill always remember
Forever in my heart
Forever we will be
And know that when Im gone
Youll be here in me
Forever in my heart
You always thought Id be
Id be yours
Forever....

0108 today I read a poem
just now, today
and for a moment, thus
forever,
the heaviness of devil-darkened thought,
death in some disguise yet to be called out,
threatened grey ruin to the day
which is not mine
as that same devil, named, will not be mine -
so pushed aside my dinner plate
and read a poem
and rejoined the world of now
of sunshine, families, all
the heart loves
and mind turns grey
and into devil's grey, and death and life
stepped gratitude.

You Say
The letters started goodbye
You say
It is better to be this way
Tell me it is just only a dream
When I wake up,
You will be here next to me
You say
There is someone new in your life
My heart burn like a soften candle
You could have at least lied
Where did it go? How does it end?
Sitting by the fire we made
Crumbling the letters that you gave
I will not be ashamed to admit
That I really hurt inside
They say time will dry the tears
You say
These tears could heal my broken heart
I know I must leave you now
But goodbye is hard for me to let go
Just one thing I would asked
If you have to changed your heart
You say
The world return and the seasons change
My heart says we got something to win
But you say,
Our love will not last for a lifetime
You say
I should stop on what I believe
I can’t believe what I have just heared
If only time stood still
I would paint our memories of love
All the lessons that we have learned
In these pieces of my broken heart
You say
Memories are faded away
Like a broken, glass that never completely again
You say
Id rather hear the truth
Than hurt me with a lie
I collect the puzzle of our love
That it is the only thing I can do
But my heart cannot breathe
When I hear, you say
Its better this way
Hope you will understand
How much you meant to me
I try to put the melodies back in your heart
But you say,
The music will never keep playing
You say
The story of our love has ended
In this world always come to an end
Like a movie theater plays on stage
Like a song with no rhythm
An empty page, no words to be written
You say
Just look at rain pour from the sky
And there is a rainbow on that end
Then tomorrow I will know how to let you go
You say

We need each other, to have and to hold
Theyll see in time, I know
When destiny calls you, you must be strong
I may not be with you, but you gotta hold on
Theyll see in time, I know
Well show them together cuz...

Loved By You
Every time is like the first time tenderly
Loving you is like breathing spring
Seasons change but your heart beats constantly
Count my blessing every day as you love me
As the sunset disappears across the northern sky
You look for forever in my eyes
All I can say, long as I have a voice
Ill thank God above that I was your first choice
Chorus:
If I should die before I wake
Ill go into the night whispering your name
If lying in your arms is the last thing that I do
At least I know that Ill be loved by you
In about a hundred years from now
When all of my love letters are found
And someone reads these words Ive written only meant for you
Theyll know how forever came true...
Repeat chorus
Let the years roll on by
These are the best times of my life
Ill just smile when my days are through
Knowing that Ive been loved by you
At least I know that Ive been loved by you

Watch it now

Forever With You
Our journey was started years ago,
Alone we walked in time so slow.
Filled with heartbreak our memories past,
The future is now with us at last.
Together we walk, no longer alone,
Forming paved roads from stepping stones.
Overcoming sadness from time before,
Together we walk through a new door.
Keep me in your heart as I will for you,
Our love is strong, pure, and true.
We cannot deny this passion we found,
Our love is connected, tied, and bound.
I will love you forever as you will love me,
My heart was locked up, but you had the key.
And yours I unlocked with a key of my own,
Together our love was released and shown.
Forever will we love, forever will we fly,
Forever will we have this love of you and I.
Forever will we laugh, forever will we cry,
Forever will we walk together side by side.

You, the Dark
Dark, She is the mind of yours.
Icy chill of thought becomes
A steely shimmer.
Behold a glimmer in the black -
A flash of grey, that even glows
In show against the hallowed dark of you.
And that is why you scream in jarring tones
'I have no heart for joy!
My white and brittle bones have died'
You cried in dark and fractured moans.
So now the Queen of Black you writhe,
Whence from dark of shade
That honed an evil form afar;
In curse of me you bade:
'I, the wave shall rape the shore!
Violence will there be in glares I'll throw
At all who prey, and more:
A dark and fetid sea I'll bleed.'
And now, the bitter tinge
And bleak of waste
That eyed the death of once your soul
Will here forever be!
Indeed you tell:
'The cramping pain is here!
Eternal spasm, infinite chasm,
The Devil's chaplain plays!
We'll climax in a tortured glee
As all my love decays.'

Heart To Heart
(Emmylouy HarrisPaul Kennerley)
Heart to heart we'll hold together
Hand in hand we'll find a way
Oh, the storms of life may blind us
But with the loving vows that bind us
Heart to heart hand in hand we'll stay
Side by side forever and always
Day by day till our lives are done
This sweet love is ours to treasure
Far beyond all time and measure
Side by side day by day as one
The years connot take what's between you and me
We'll stand her together for the whole world to see
Heart to heart there'll be no other
Hand in hand for our love is true
Oh, the words that we have spoken
Will be a promise never broken
Heart to heart hand in hand with you

Love Will Wait
(l. stansfield/i. devaney/a. morris)
Love that will wait forever
When they can be together
And apart at the same time
Love that will wait forever
Time has no bond on to keep this heart
When they can be together
And apart at the same time
Although, while you gone, the love still carries on
Instead erased, but we feel its real
Because, I know, that youre here in my heart
Warming me inside, until the fire is real
Chorus
Love that will wait forever
Time has no bond on to keep this heart
When they can be together
And apart at the same time
Love that will wait forever
Time has no bond on to keep this heart
When they can be together
And apart at the same time
Now, in my mind, seems to lie upon the good times
We spent, sharing love, in the hope that we could share again
The time, like before, for me youve opened up the door
But to make this again like we never had before
Chorus
Its been worth it, just to see your smile
Your laughter makes it all worthwhile
Its been worth the waiting for
All the doubts in my mind is simply final
Chorus
