Crystal Pools

As I gazed into large
glowing eyes
clear as crystal
shining like diamonds.

I was caught off guard
my protective shield
was down
for a time I was lost
in their beauty
swallowed up in the
moment.

Opaque pools of water
inticed me
I wanted to wade in
feel splashing
around my ankles.

Get wet, be taught to
swim in those waters
know all of their
mysteries
become familiar with
them.

We stood in silence
not a word was uttered
I understood, they
understood.

I had been caught in
their clutch
my guard is up now
my shield has been
repaired.

I watched the Moon around the House
Until upon a Pane --
She stopped -- a Traveller's privilege -- for Rest --
And there upon

I gazed -- as at a stranger --
The Lady in the Town
Doth think no incivility
To lift her Glass -- upon --

But never Stranger justified
The Curiosity
Like Mine -- for not a Foot -- nor Hand --
Nor Formula -- had she --

But like a Head -- a Guillotine
Slid carelessly away --
Did independent, Amber --
Sustain her in the sky --

There were ten
Waiting by the road
Ready for a journey
Of an entire lifetime

The ten crossed the lake,
But the tenth was too scared
He left the others to their fates
And departed with some joy.

As I
stepped into
opaque pools
of water

a soft hand
beckoned me

enjoy the
flow

as gentle warm
waters
splashed around
my ankles

Trying hard, I thought I'd done my best
All my life, I can't get no rest
Some who've closed the door before
Say I can't carry on no more.
