Body is mortal

Body is mortal
Subjects to decay on death's arrival
I shall now be of my own feet
I don't know how shall I be able to meet?

You will be slipped into memory
I shall remember you all the times and feel sorry
It will only add some tension along with worry
I got to get along with unfinished task to carry

I sob slowly and keep quiet
Gather little strength for your body to let
You will taken off after last rites
You will be just faded memory and of the sight

Each passing of the day may pose problem
I shall have to fight and counter them
You were towering strength and source of inspiration
Holy and so close unforgettable dad- daughter relation

Your little smile gave me enough of courage
Even in dark I was sure and able to manage
You stood there for me all the times
I may now wake up in dream sometimes

"Please, you all move to one side" the voice shook my head
They were about to lift the body and take it as dead
He was no more to be seen in coming days
They were taking him far and miles away

I touched and bowed your feet
The last and memorable moment to touch and greet
I sensed it like wood with mo movement
Your soul was taken away as if to be sent

I may have to look at little stars
Sometimes I may see you above and very far
Will you talk to me dad and show the way?
You were till the last sun shine and ray

Some Days After School

Some days after school
having slipped by her mother's vision

she met you in the back woods
by the pool

and you were there
in the your tee shirt and jeans

and she stood there
for a moment

in her blouse and skirt
and you stared at each other

taking in the beauty
you saw there

enjoying the moment
the big now

shutting out the bird song
the rabbits by the trees

the far off sound of traffic
and she broke out and said

had a job get by her scanner eyes
had to slip out

before she gave out the chores
and she came over to you

standing there
and stood real close

so that you could sense her body
just about touching yours

her perfume teasing
your nostrils

stirring your body
and then she closed her eyes

and kissed your lips
and it was like

a first day of creation
as if God had said

there you go
feel the love

sense the glow
and you did

and it seemed an eternity
but was merely minutes

glued and touched
and wet and warm

then you sensed
the rain coming

and distant storm
and then the raindrops

hit the pool like small bullets
and grabbing her hand

you ran through the trees
away from the pool

carrying the memory of a kiss
and a bird's lone call.

Rudyard Kipling

For All We Have and Are

For all we have and are,
For all our children's fate,
Stand up and meet the war.
The Hun is at the gate!
Our world has passed away
In wantonness o'erthrown.
There is nothing left to-day
But steel and fire and stone.

Though all we knew depart,
The old commandments stand:
"In courage keep your heart,
In strength lift up your hand."

Once more we hear the word
That sickened earth of old:
"No law except the sword
Unsheathed and uncontrolled,"
Once more it knits mankind,
Once more the nations go
To meet and break and bind
A crazed and driven foe.

Comfort, content, delight --
The ages' slow-bought gain --
They shrivelled in a night,
Only ourselves remain
To face the naked days
In silent fortitude,
Through perils and dismays
Renewd and re-renewed.

Though all we made depart,
The old commandments stand:
"In patience keep your heart,
In strength lift up your hand."

No easy hopes or lies
Shall bring us to our goal,
But iron sacrifice
Of body, will, and soul.
There is but one task for all --
For each one life to give.
Who stands if freedom fall?
Who dies if England live?

Not forgotten

Why is it so that some faces are not forgotten?
Why that is our heart is all of sudden melt and get stolen?
Why we feel for someone who was nobody some days ago?
Now we concentrate all the times on it and can not let it forgo

They come and invade on our memory
Sometimes we are happy and second moments feel sorry
It adds to more tension and worry
Yet the relation has to be strengthened and but with no hurry

You have no spare moments in day time
You are seized with work sometimes
Nights are providing ample opportunity
The day time thoughts are given some leisure continuity

When you close the eyes, whole world is shut
No one is near you for anything to put
The rest and sleep may be miles away
You have no comfort or easy way

When you lay down on bed they strongly emerge
You like those moments but unable to manage
They come and pinch you to keep awake
You are lost in wonderland as everything is at stake

Same repeat scenes may go on without interruption
You are lying on bed without any discussion
You have no where to move but only to dream
You are mid sea with no life jacket to swim

Sea waves are hitting you directly
You have decided the course correctly
You may not let the memory to fade
It is so holy for you and not the trade

You hear the melodious voice
That sounds very assuring with promise
Nothing strikes your head in that presence
You sinking deep and deep with essence

Katherine Mansfield

To L. H. B. (1894-1915 )

Last night for the first time since you were dead
I walked with you, my brother, in a dream.
We were at home again beside the stream
Fringed with tall berry bushes, white and red.
"Don't touch them: they are poisonous," I said.
But your hand hovered, and I saw a beam
Of strange, bright laughter flying round your head
And as you stooped I saw the berries gleam.
"Don't you remember? We called them Dead Man's
Bread!"
I woke and heard the wind moan and the roar
Of the dark water tumbling on the shore.
Where--where is the path of my dream for my eager
feet?
By the remembered stream my brother stands
Waiting for me with berries in his hands...
"These are my body. Sister, take and eat."

Her Immortality

UPON a noon I pilgrimed through
A pasture, mile by mile,
Unto the place where I last saw
My dead Love's living smile.

And sorrowing I lay me down
Upon the heated sod:
It seemed as if my body pressed
The very ground she trod.

I lay, and thought; and in a trance
She came and stood me by--
The same, even to the marvellous ray
That used to light her eye.

"You draw me, and I come to you,
My faithful one," she said,
In voice that had the moving tone
It bore in maidenhead.

She said: "'Tis seven years since I died:
Few now remember me;
My husband clasps another bride;
My children mothers she.

My brethren, sisters, and my friends
Care not to meet my sprite:
Who prized me most I did not know
Till I passed down from sight."

I said: "My days are lonely here;
I need thy smile alway:
I'll use this night my ball or blade,
And join thee ere the day."

A tremor stirred her tender lips,
Which parted to dissuade:
"That cannot be, O friend," she cried;
"Think, I am but a Shade!

"A Shade but in its mindful ones
Has immortality;
By living, me you keep alive,
By dying you slay me.

"In you resides my single power
Of sweet continuance here;
On your fidelity I count
Through many a coming year."

--I started through me at her plight,
So suddenly confessed:
Dismissing late distaste for life,
I craved its bleak unrest.

"I will not die, my One of all!--
To lengthen out thy days
I'll guard me from minutest harms
That may invest my ways!"

She smiled and went. Since then she comes
Oft when her birth-moon climbs,
Or at the seasons' ingresses
Or anniversary times;

But grows my grief. When I surcease,
Through whom alone lives she,
Ceases my Love, her words, her ways,
Never again to be!

Robert Graves

A Child's Nightmare

Through long nursery nights he stood
By my bed unwearying,
Loomed gigantic, formless, queer,
Purring in my haunted ear
That same hideous nightmare thing,
Talking, as he lapped my blood,
In a voice cruel and flat,
Saying for ever, "Cat! ... Cat! ... Cat!..."

That one word was all he said,
That one word through all my sleep,
In monotonous mock despair.
Nonsense may be light as air,
But there's Nonsense that can keep
Horror bristling round the head,
When a voice cruel and flat
Says for ever, "Cat! ... Cat! ... Cat!..."

He had faded, he was gone
Years ago with Nursery Land,
When he leapt on me again
From the clank of a night train,
Overpowered me foot and head,
Lapped my blood, while on and on
The old voice cruel and flat
Says for ever, "Cat! ... Cat! ... Cat!..."

Morphia drowsed, again I lay
In a crater by High Wood:
He was there with straddling legs,
Staring eyes as big as eggs,
Purring as he lapped my blood,
His black bulk darkening the day,
With a voice cruel and flat,
"Cat! ... Cat! ... Cat! ... Cat!..." he said, "Cat! ... Cat!..."

When I'm shot through heart and head,
And there's no choice but to die,
The last word I'll hear, no doubt,
Won't be "Charge!" or "Bomb them out!"
Nor the stretcher-bearer's cry,
"Let that body be, he's dead!"
But a voice cruel and flat
Saying for ever, "Cat! ... Cat! ... Cat!"

A mind dosn't rest

Why it happens all the time that mind doesn't rest?
Why all the time you try to come out as best?
Why you are on move and under going severe test?
Is life is made adventurous and differ from the rest?

Yes, it has to offer many explanations
There may not be startling revelations
It may have direct bearing on our relation
It puzzles everybody and posing a big question

We are human beings and attached with the sentiments
We get infuriated even with slight adverse comments
We settle it as quickly as possible and align with movement
We surprise them with our action and score at right moment

This is how we react angrily at our adversary
We go on planning for days and waste time unnecessary
We try to sooth it out but ill feelings still carry
This adds to tension and worry

We have revengeful attitude go for reprisal
We don’t wait satisfactory answer's arrival
We make hunt and go for immediate revenge
The defeat is taken as humiliation and wants to avenge

Good people may not opt for “tit for tat” attitude
This speaks of his sick mental status which some magnitude
Something forces him to act in haste
Life totally becomes different in taste

The bad company makes lot of impression
That is clearly seen and observed in your expression
You may cling to your ideas and suffer with obsession
You may not feel happiness even with nice possession

You may go in for quick retaliation on adversary
You may also not think it is necessary
Mind will remain occupied most of the time with rage
Body will be shaking in disbelief and unable to manage

We need complete balance of mind to live with peace
If we can succeed then it may help to reduce the tension and miss
It may take off our mind to another direction and rest
It may give momentary relief in mind at least

Revenge is not best form to show the strength
You can win adversary with friendly wave length
You can take personal ego one side and show some gesture
It may help to reduce tension in future

Let us not build trust on hatred
Never try to make other to believe in that or lead
Life can’t be compared with any body or injected into dead
It may definitely prove and rest all can be finely read

Oscar Hummel

I staggered on through darkness,
There was a hazy sky, a few stars
Which I followed as best I could.
It was nine o'clock, I was trying to get home.
But somehow I was lost,
Though really keeping the road.
Then I reeled through a gate and into a yard,
And called at the top of my voice:
"Oh, Fiddler! Oh, Mr. Jones!"
(I thought it was his house and he would show me the way home.)
But who should step out but A. D. Blood,
In his night shirt, waving a stick of wood,
And roaring about the cursed saloons,
And the criminals they made?
"You drunken Oscar Hummel", he said,
As I stood there weaving to and fro,
Taking the blows from the stick in his hand
Till I dropped down dead at his feet.

When That Body And The Soul Meets

If it's felt with-in-side,
And you've got it
That good rhythm!
That rhythm would be in your feet.
If you've got it!
You'd feel it with each patting,
Tapping out a movement
That begins your feet,
Patting beats.
Rhythmically.

If it's felt with-in-side,
And you've got it.
That good rhythm!
That rhythm would be in your feet.
If you've got it!
You'd feel it with each,
Patting of.
Both your feet.

If it's there you've got to rock it.
When that body and the soul meets.
It's a feeling you must reveal.
When that body and the soul meets.
It's that feeling done on dance floors,
When that body and the soul meets.
And benefits the one who's real.
When that body and the soul meets.

If it's there you've got to rock it.
When that body and the soul meets.
It's a feeling you must reveal.
When that body and the soul meets.
It's that feeling done on dance floors,
When that body and the soul meets.
And benefits the one who's real.
When that body and the soul meets.

It's a feeling you must reveal.
When that body and the soul meets.
If it's there you've got to rock it.
When that body and the soul meets.
It's a feeling you must reveal.
When that body and the soul meets.
If it's there you've got to rock it.
When that body and the soul meets.
It's a feeling you must reveal.
When that body and the soul meets.
If it's there you've got to rock it.
When that body and the soul meets.
When that body and the soul meets.
It's a feeling you must reveal.

When the body and soul meet,
It's revealing.
When the soul and body meet.
It's revealing.
And healing.

Few people believe.
When the body and soul meet,
It's revealing.
When the soul and body meet.
It's revealing.
And healing.

Few people believe.
When the body and soul meet,
It's revealing.
When the soul and body meet.
It's revealing.
And healing.

The Battle

I've entered the ring and I'm ready to fight
I'll need all my strength, and I'll need all my might.
The opponent is big, and so very strong.
To win seems impossible. This may not last long.

In a tension filled room the bell rang aloud.
My family was yelling; "Win. Make us proud."
My opponent came quickly over to me.
He was big and strong, and I wanted to flee.

He hit me so hard that I fell to the floor.
I lay hearing the count, … 1….2….3….4.
Should I try to get up, or stay down and wait?
The count kept on going, 23256 5….6….7….8.

Then piercing my soul came a voice to my ear;
"Son, reach out to me. We can win. I am here.
It hurts Me to see you in such agony.
You are my child, and are precious to me."

Tears came to my eyes, and new strength to each glove.
I knew that the voice was my God, from above.
I jumped to my feet just before the count ten,
Committed to never be knocked down again.

With the Lord in my corner, the opponent looked small,
My opponent's not man, but drugs and alcohol.
Though he's determined, defeat is my vow,
He trembles with fear, because God's with me now.

The fight is not over, but my foe's on the run.
A fight that seemed hopeless is soon to be won.
With the Lord on our side every battle we'll win
With victory assured when we turn to Him.

Khalil Gibran

Two Wishes XI

In the silence of the night Death descended from God toward the earth. He hovered above a city and pierced the dwellings with his eyes. He say the spirits floating on wings of dreams, and the people who were surrendered to the Slumber.

When the moon fell below the horizon and the city became black, Death walked silently among the houses -- careful to touch nothing -- until he reached a palace. He entered through the bolted gates undisturbed, and stood by the rich man's bed; and as Death touched his forehead, the sleeper's eyes opened, showing great fright.

When he saw the specter, he summoned a voice mingled with fear and anger, and said, "God away, oh horrible dream; leave me, you dreadful ghost. Who are you? How did you enter this place? What do you want? Leave this place at once, for I am the lord of the house and will call my slaves and guards, and order them to kill you!"

Then Death spoke, softly but with smoldering thunder, "I am Death. Stand and bow!"

The man responded, "What do you want? What have you come here when I have not yet finished my affairs? What see you from strength such as mine? Go to the weak man, and take him away!

"I loathe the sight of your bloody paws and hollow face, and my eyes take sick at your horrible ribbed winds and cadaverous body."

After a moment of fearful realization he added, "No, No, oh merciful Death! Mind not talk, for even fear reveals what the heart forbids.

"Take a bushelful of my gold, or a handful of my slave's souls, but leave me. I have accounts with Life requiring settling; I have due from people much gold; my ships have not reached the harbor; my demand, but spare my life. Death, I own harems of supernatural beauty; your choice is my gift to you. Give heed, Death -- I have but one child, and I love him dearly for he is my only joy in this life. I offer supreme sacrifice -- take him, but spare me!"

Death murmured, "You are not rich, but pitifully poor." Then Death took the hand of that earthly slave, removed his reality, and gave to the angels the heavy task of correction.

And Death walked slowly amidst the dwellings of the poor until he reached the most miserable he could find. He entered and approached a bed upon which a youth slept fitfully. Death touched his eyes; the lad sprang up as he saw Death standing by, and, with a voice full of love and hope he said, "Here I am, my beautiful Death. Accept my soul, for you are the hope of my dreams. Be their accomplishment! Embrace me, oh beloved Death! You are merciful; do not leave me. You are God's messenger; deliver me to Him. You are the right hand of Truth and the heart of Kindness; do not neglect me.

"I have begged for you many times, but you did not come; I have sought you, but you avoided me; I called out to you, but you listened not. You hear me now -- embrace my soul, beloved Death!"

Death placed his softened hand upon the trembling lips, removed all reality, and enfolded it beneath his wings for secure conduct. And returning to the sky, Death looked back and whispered his warning:

"Only those return to Eternity
Who on earth seek out Eternity."

Sweet Echo Dell

"Three there were that left my cot;
Two are here, and one is not;
Why does Willie linger? Say, can you tell?"

"He was weary by the way;
When we came he could but stay
In the shady grove at Sweet Echo Dell."

Echo Dell! (Echo Dell!) Echo Dell! (Echo Dell!)
It was there we softly said "Farewell!" ("Farewell!")
And the towering granite crest
Nobly guards his place rest,
Near the lovely lake of Sweet Echo Dell.

"Is he laden well with gold?
Does he bring me wealth untold?
Why then does he linger? Say can you tell?"

"All his treasures are above;
All he sent you was his love,
With a whispered prayer from Sweet Echo Dell."

Coming homeward, does he sing
Like a lark upon the wing?
Why then does he linger? Say, can you tell?"

Naught is heard but rippling waves,
Warbling birds, and shouting braves;
Silent is his voice in Sweet Echo Dell."

"Is he coming by-and-by?
May I bless him ere I die?
Why then does he linger? Say, can you tell?"

"Mirrored in that mountain lake,
Heaven is near, and he will wake
Never elsewhere than in Sweet Echo Dell."

"Would you crush my only joy?
Surely I shall meet my boy;
When then does he linger? Say, can you tell?"

"Never will his weary feet
Travel more, yet may soon meet
When your soul floats over Sweet Echo Dell."

Present Intense

When everything seems to go horribly wrong,
And the walls of doubt start to close in.
The days are too short, and the nights overlong -
It can really make your head spin.

There's just too much month at the end of your money.
You're unable to make both ends meet.
The bills come at once, and it's truly unfunny
When to pay "Paul" you're forced to rob "Pete".

The distant light viewed through a long dark tunnel
Is, in fact, an oncoming train.
And your brolly transforms itself into a funnel
The moment it pours down with rain.

Then, just when you think it can't get any worse,
And believe that good luck will prevail,
You find out you're under some terrible curse
As your roof blows away in a gale!

You hear people talk of those clouds, silver-lined,
That float in the sky overhead.
Yet you can't help the feeling that they must be blind -
That's not silver they're lined with - it's lead! ! !

My advice in these times of extreme tribulation
When "The Twilight Zone" mirrors real life,
Is to see the absurd side of each situation
And to scoff at the source of your strife.

This won't make your problems just disappear
But will lessen their grip on your heart.
It's the best way I know to dissolve the fear.
You'll have strength then to make a new start.

You Were A Star (But Fallen From Grace)

each time i looked
so humbly at your darling face
i could see the shine in your eyes
the smile, the joy, the wise
the heart of likeness
but all left mine unknown to none
faded away all at once
and never saw you shine again
but, you were a star
that sent me away at once
and faded,

if it were a star i need
i would low my speed
to see the light indeed
and stand by you as a kid
would do, my own seed
has fallen by the grains of weed
never to source me a feed
but faded,

each tree by their own stem
curing its leaves for them
to green and shade over them
without care of which worm
amongst them
has any problem
to grow and seed on them
when the rain starts to fall on them
but still faded,

each moment has a memory
and each memory has a story
from each story, have said sorry
and please don't worry
but why would i worry
when all merry shall mellow
and all scary shall let go
and still faded,

to reveal is to declare
to feel the will is to dare
awe is never than stare
a science of love and care
but why dare
today
and run without say
whence all shine has gone there
and downed the star that was there
and faded away...never to shine there

but you were a star
fallen from grace
yet gone by the dark
each time i looked into yours
a star i could see
any man could reckon with
but now you are never a star
but that which fell from grace
that day you were, a star!

Last advice

Papa was looking at the ceiling
As wanted to pass on something
I could guess something unusual
He was quiet and looked so casual

He had sensed his departure in advance
He may be surely debating his last chance
To see everybody standing by his bed side
The may be bide adieu with eyes wide

Normally relative gather when end nears
Secretly cry and shed the tears
It is normal human feeling with attachment
Sad feeling at heart and heavy moment

I did not miss his last advise
He had taken from me a promise
That I shall remain alert and act wise
"In this world there is no other choice" he had confided

I miss those moments and remember his face
There were visible fear lines with some traces
He had some unfilled task for me to complete
He took my hand with grief and tried to greet

This made my heart down with grief
Even though he spoke little and remained brief
We all were sure that this time he will be gone
I prayed almighty for his last breathe to be peacefully done

All parents are alike when their end approach
They may want all relatives near to bed as such
They would see it with all kind of satisfaction
Look all over places at home with recitation

We are poor human animal
There is so much celebration upon our arrival
When time comes at last for departure
They remember God and pray as creator

I slipped deep in the thought
As this was new situation and suddenly was brought
I was new to such tragic event
Unforgettable in whole life to resent

Sacred relation

"What on earth can be called sacred relation"?
One friend parried a direct question
"Why the query all of sudden"?
I was not prepared to answer even

He had lost mother recently
He was keeping quiet but asked gently
I understood pain from his eyes
Even though the death of his mother was long gone by

Right from the conception she is aligned with child
Her nature undergoes change and remains mild
Everybody takes special care of her
First happy moment is shared by sister

The family is heavily loaded with movement
The child is expected at any moment
Everybody at home is right on toe
Only the word is awaited with the signal "go"

Mother has no more reason to worry
Whole world is on her steps to carry
She has complete time to spend after child
Even after child troubles her or goes wild

Such beautiful mother is heavenly gift on earth
Attachment is such that we don't forget even after her death
The sadness on part of friend was easily understood
I decided to console him and firmly stood by

I knew by folk tales that mother was no less than goddess
You can see entire world in her or on face
If world has to owe anything to any one
Then mother stands the only chance and none else

I too became sentimental along with him and cried
I put maximum words to console him and earnestly tried
He was quiet reasonable but carried away by memory
He felt so sad and had certain reasons to worry

I feel irritated at the news of mother's death
If that really happens to me then what aftermath!
I found no answer and winked at the blue sky
The birds were returning home for next day to fly

One Soul

I dream of closeness
Sweet talks face to face
So near and calling me dear
Yet not gripped with any fear

You showed two hearts are beating
Close acquaintance still sweating
We were here for close meeting
Exchanging views and simply greeting

Call for enough of promises
Pledges for memory and not to make any misses
Wishing for golden rays to shine
Looking for no excuses and everything to confine

I can’t forget your lovely smile
It drives e crazy and pushes to miles
How will I bear your absence and remain away?
This question puzzles me all the time and stay

I would love if you hold me for ever
It had been my dream forever
You gave me new direction to live
I still hold you in esteem and believe

I rush to you like river in spate
Sometimes I get very late
You stand there in my anticipation
But keep calm and raise no question

You had been my strength
I was not perfect not even one tenth
You did smile at me number of times
I was stunned to find it sometimes

We have merged into one
Not body but soul also belongs to none
This is what I desired all along
Please kept it intact and don’t prove me wrong

I shall stand by in every critical moment
I shall utter no word or offer any comment
I shall be entity well thought over by you
I shall hold it till last and try to be true

Move Out

I fell in love on the day we met
It was a purely physical thing
We talked and talked I like your mouth
Your minds o.k. but I love your body
We havent slept for days now
Ooh your body
We havent slept for nights
Ooh your body body
Nothings going to stop me
Ooh your body
This is a title fight
Ooh your body body
I made you laugh and you made me cry
I know its wrong but Ill never miss you
You locked me up I dont know why
But theres no law against escaping
It doesnt really matter
What you say to me
Nothings going to stop me
What will be will be
I had a dream I was on a train
I met this girl she was prettier than you
Do what you want but dont wake up
Close your eyes and lets get started
I know a secret locked in ice
Until I die Im taking action
There must be more that we can do
Where am I just when I need you
Wrap me in your body
Ill wrap you everywhere
No ones going to miss me
I know that no-one cares
Ive been in your body
Ive been in your car
You know Ive had enough now
Y know what the reasons are
Move out
Ill leave today going away
Move out
Im ready to go
Move out
Move out

The Night of Death

Twas a night of dreadful horror, --
Death was sweeping through the land;
And the wings of dark destruction
Were outstretched from strand to strand

Strong men's hearts grew faint with terror,
As the tempest and the waves
Wrecked their homes and swept them downward,
Suddenly to yawning graves.

'Mid the wastes of ruined households,
And the tempest's wild alarms,
Stood a terror-stricken mother
With a child within her arms.

Other children huddled 'round her,
Each one nestling in her heart;
Swift in thought and swift in action,
She at least from one must part.

Then she said unto her daughter,
"Strive to save one child from death."
"Which one?" said the anxious daughter,
As she stood with bated breath.

Oh! the anguish of that mother;
What despair was in her eye!
All her little ones were precious;
Which one should she leave to die?

Then outspake the brother Bennie:
"I will take the little one."
"No," exclaimed the anxious mother;
"No, my child, it can't be done."

"See! my boy, the waves are rising,
Save yourself and leave the child!"
"I will trust in Christ," he answered;
Grasped the little one and smiled.

Through the roar of wind and waters
Ever and anon she cried;
But throughout the night of terror
Never Bennie's voice replied.

But above the waves' wild surging
He had found a safe retreat,
As if God had sent an angel,
Just to guide his wandering feet.

When the storm had spent its fury,
And the sea gave up its dead
She was mourning for her loved ones,
Lost amid that night of dread.

While her head was bowed in anguish,
On her ear there fell a voice,
Bringing surcease to her sorrow,
Bidding all her heart rejoice.

"Didn't I tell you true?" said Bennie,
And his eyes were full of light,
"When I told you God would help me
Through the dark and dreadful night?"

And he placed the little darling
Safe within his mother's arms,
Feeling Christ had been his guardian,
'Mid the dangers and alarms.

Oh! for faith so firm and precious,
In the darkest, saddest night,
Till life's gloom-encircled shadows
Fade in everlasting light.

And upon the mount of vision
We our loved and lost shall greet,
With earth's wildest storms behind us,
And its cares beneath our feet.
