The Slug And The Ladybug

The sad, silly slug said to the lovely ladybug,
“Why are you pretty while I have this ugly mug?
I live under a rock since I don’t have a shell.
Because no one likes me, I don’t feel very well.
I’ll just keep living underneath this dirty stone,
All by myself so sadly alone.

The lovely ladybug shook her head and said,
“Sad, silly slug, get out from that awful, stony bed!
Just remember each of us has a place on this earth.
We’re put here for a reason so each of us has worth.
The one to make you happy has to be yourself,
But you’ve put your best friend on a forgotten shelf.
Start by being proud that you are the best slug you’ll ever see.
Don’t compare yourself to others that you’ll never be.
Love yourself, smile and always be kind.
You’ll be surprised how many friends that you’ll find.”

The sad, silly slug had never thought that way before.
He considered himself only a sad, silly slug and nothing more.
When he looked into the brook and smiled, what did he see?
It was a miracle that changed his face so he said happily,
“This smile has found a home in my once sad, lonely heart.
I’m proud of myself and look to each new day’s start.
I’m now happy with myself and proud to be free.
I’ll work hard to make myself the best that I can be.
Just a note of gratitude from this happy, hopeful slug:
He shouted, “With all my heart, thank you, lovely ladybug! ”

Silly, Silly Fool

(kenneth gamble / leon huff)
Such a silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i
Oh, i, just a silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i
Hey, I should have never fallen
Back in love with you
Knowin how you get a pleasure
Breaking my poor heart in two
You made it sound so convincin
When you said
Im your woman, youre my man
Now I really need you
And I sit here a loser again
I guess Im just a silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i, oh i
Im such a silly, silly, silly, silly, fool am i, mmm
I should have never trusted
In my heart to lead the way
Now my mind is all busted
Thats a fools price to pay
You made it sound so convincin
When you said youd never, never go away
I should have never listened
To anything you had to say
Im such a silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i, yes I am
Im such a silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i, oh
Such a silly, silly, dilly, silly, dilly fool am i, oh yeah

Born to Work

I wasn’t born to work you know,
Not like a snail is born to slime,
Pecuniary incarceration.....
That should be a crime!

I don’t do any damage,
To your veggies or your flowers
Yet I’m bound to work, not free to roam
For years (and by the hour!)

I wasn’t born to work you know,
I’d rather be a snail or slug
Inflated monthly targets
Don’t mean much when you’re a bug.

I know a slug is not a bug
So pedants please stand down,
Poetic licence there I cite,
So loose that crazy frown!

I wasn’t born to work you know,
I’d rather be a flea
On second thoughts though
What I want
Is to be a work free me!

A Slug's Life

I met a young slug, who gave me a shrug,
And said that his life, was so full of strife,
He'd wandered around, no 'she' slug had he found,
He so wanted to find, someone who was kind.

Setting off in haste, he had no time to waste,
And slithered into, a flowerbed venue.
He saw her right there, Oh my, did he care,
Such charm on display, his love he'd convey.

Into petals she crawled, and he was enthralled,
He followed in a dream, mesmerized it would seem,
As coy as could be, she asked him to tea,
And enjoyed toast and jam, and also some spam.

He then met her Dad, who liked her new lad,
And gave his consent, so they were content,
To wait for the day, when their vows they would say.
He was certainly not subfusc, but an excited mollusc.

The wedding was grand, just as they had planned,
His blushing new bride, smiled, all starry-eyed,
They would honeymoon too, at a posh rendezvous,
For he'd won him a wife, and escaped from his strife.

Silly Game

I never thought u would be the one
That Id wanna run 2
I never thought u would be the one
That would make me care
And even tho u done me wrong
4 some strange reason I cant xplain
I get happy knowing u phoned
Cuz your voice could kill my every pain
Why do we play this silly game?
I never thought u would be the one
That Id wanna give 2
A diamond ring, anything that u ask me 2
But there u were, bragging 2 your friends
Making up a story thats so lame
That I was down 2 be your sugardaddy
One way ticket to ghetto fame
Why do we play this silly game?
Every other night u werent at home
Out in the streets, just acting grown
Never with a bodyguard or chaperone
Then I hear a rumour that breaks my heart
Instead of taking care of yourself
Ure tearing yourself apart
Now why u wanna
(why u wanna, why u wanna ...)
Now why u wanna go and do that, love?
Why do we play this silly game?
I never thought u would be the one
(that Id wanna run 2) that Id wanna run 2
I never thought ud be the one
That would make me care
No matter how far I run
Ill never be the same (Ill never be the same)
In the end, in the end, theres only us 2 blame
Why do we play this ...
Why do we play this silly ...
Why do we play this silly game?
Yeah
Ooh-ooh
Tell me why? (tell me why? )
Oh why? (oh why? )
Oh why - why?
Why do we play this silly game?
Game

Here In This spring

Here in this spring, stars float along the void;
Here in this ornamental winter
Down pelts the naked weather;
This summer buries a spring bird.

Symbols are selected from the years'
Slow rounding of four seasons' coasts,
In autumn teach three seasons' fires
And four birds' notes.

I should tell summer from the trees, the worms
Tell, if at all, the winter's storms
Or the funeral of the sun;
I should learn spring by the cuckooing,
And the slug should teach me destruction.

A worm tells summer better than the clock,
The slug's a living calendar of days;
What shall it tell me if a timeless insect
Says the world wears away?

Silly Confusion

Meet me on the moon very very soon
Meet me on the stars jupiter and mars
Fly me to a star
Burning out in space shining on my face
Fly me through the night on your silver wings
Over crystal seas valleys of the kings
By the lilac shore where the dragon flies
In the diamond skies
Silly silly confusion
And tangle of wild illusion
Were living in a wonderworld of fantasy
We spent all our times in sweet living dreams
Its a silly silly confusion
Like a flower of wild profusion
You can do the things in life
You always wanted to
Within your heart you know it always will come through
Take me for a ride in your dream-machine
To a time and place where no one has been
Let me look upon worlds Ive never seen
In your dream-machine
Fly me to a star burning out in space
Let me feel the light shining on my face
Sail on solar winds sail on silver birds
Through the universe
Silly silly confusion...
Its a silly silly confusion...
Silly silly confusion...
Its a silly silly confusion...
Silly silly confusion
Silly silly confusion

Silly Boy Blue

Mountains of lhasa are feeling the rain
People are walking the botella lanes
Preacher takes the school
One boy breaks a rule
Silly boy blue, blue
Silly boy blue
Yak butter statues that melt in the sun
Cannot dissolve all the work youve not done
A chela likes to feel
That his overself pays the bill
Silly boy blue, blue
Silly boy blue
You wish and wish, and wish again
Youve tried so hard to fly
Youll never leave your body now
Youve got to wait to die
La la la la la , la la , la la la la
La la la la la , la la , la la la la
La la la , la la
La la la , la la
Silly boy blue, blue
Silly boy blue
Child of tibet, youre a gift from the sun
Reincarnation of one better man
The homeward road is long
Youve left your prayers and song
Silly boy blue , blue
Silly boy blue
Silly boy blue
Silly boy blue

Sweetie, Start the Day with a Smile

Sweetie, start the day with a smile
Your smile always melts my heart
So I am here imagining that you are smiling
It brings out the best face for you
Smile, you are so lovely smiling Sweetie

I hope you slept and have woken up well
I know you are as lovely as ever
I pray that you have a lovely song in your heart
I hope you are happy this morning
All these come out when you are smiling Sweetie

Because your face is the mirror of your heart
Smile is the language of joy and love
Smile is a way to a successful day
Smile every moment that's worth living
Your smile wins my heart Sweetie

So keep a smile on your face today!
I keep smiling by imagining your smile
Your smile is the diamond on Sweetie's face

Nineteen-Eighty

It was the Year of Our Lord, Nineteen-Eighty
A Southerner, Rosalynn, was still our first lady
Becoming lifelong friends at our place of employment
The next three decades…full of heartache and enjoyment

I burned the roads up in a green Ford Gran Torino
Silly me, I thought my car was as hot as a jalapeño
Litha had a Pontiac Firebird and you drove a VW Bug
You were sad the day a semi smashed it like a garden slug

You got wedded and became a mother to Josh and Wynne
I did the same and fathered two, Kyle and Jackie Lynn
Both marriages went the way of the bloody war in Viet Nam
I tried wedlock again, fathering twin boys, Jake and Sam

Yet again, my marital bliss ended like a Japanese kamikaze
Good thing I'm not famous, can you imagine the paparazzi
I moved back home, and we agreed to meet for a cup of joe
Before we knew it sparks flew, and soon I became your beau

On a September afternoon I asked you to become my frau
With a grin on your face, you kissed me and said yes and how
Still planning, contriving, and looking for the right date
Just think, hopefully soon we'll be a happy family of eight

Slugs and Snails - Parody Robert Frost Fire and Ice

Some say our world will end with snails
some slug out blown.
With climate change, scarce dinner pails,
I'd back whales weighed upon time's scales.
Of human nature enough's known
by those who'd live to tell tales tall
to show that for destruction sown
slug outs withal
suffice - home-grown.

Two stanza word world ends at ease
in freezer stowed
both slugs and snails preserved - one sees
a micro-wave cold sale could tease
snails from their shells - Frost's poem showed
that none cold feet should entertain
when world on ice skates, atoms slowed:
Can slugs feel pain
for tea at minus forty three degrees?

Fire and Ice
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Silly Boy

In the days when I was young I never had to cry
If I wanted a lover I did not have to try
But I must have set my expectations far too high
Guess Im just a silly boy
I guess Im just a silly boy
There are some things about love that I dont understand
When you promise your heart you do the best you can
But no matter how I try behaving like a man
Seems Im just a silly boy
I guess Im just a silly boy
This is the last time Ill wait to stand in line
If you dont come see me Im dropping the boom on you
cause when you lose me
Then everyone will see what a silly girl can do
Dont you tell me that its over
Dont you make a sound
til I get to the river or someplace I can drown
cause I put my faith upon you and you let me down
Guess Im just a silly boy
I guess Im just a silly boy

On this silly hill

On this silly hill I remember the silly things
That we did
We were so young and we decided to pick
Some ripe mangoes on this silly
Isolated hill away from
Our teasing
Silly friends

And I really liked her a lot
My heart was trembling
Her heart too quivering
We felt we like each other
Feelings like hot chili
Heating our ears

We said we love each other
We promised to love each other
Till the end of days

And so I climbed the mango tree
And picked the most luscious
Delicious mangoes as may be gleaned
From their color and shape
Thinking all the best for her
That I could give
To her

I put all the mangoes in my shirt
And I was silly looking silly like a tray to her
And she picked them one by one
Near my chest lower to my tummy
Nearer to my bulge

I was breathless
As she took more
Ripe mangoes from me
Slowly
Gracefully
Peeling with her mouth and tongue
Licking the yellowish pulp
And she said the mangoes were all
So sweet smelling and delicious
Like me

She was craving
She was raving
I was simply receptive
Giving in
All
To what she wanted

She touched my heart and we were silly
On our teens we did
What married people did on this silly hill
Isolated from silly friends

We did something adventurous
We had something marvelous
We did all those silly things
Like wild horses
In nature’s ways
Galloping
Breath taking

The years passed and now I am reaching fifty
Looking back I remember the silly things that we
Young silly people on our early teens did on this silly hill

We went and parted and she married the right man for her
I too went my own separate direction, taking a wife on my own

Looking back,
I feel sad,
I feel happy
What we silly teeny people did which we think was silly

Was all done in the name of pure love so endless
We were all virgins in love & we all thought of nothing else

Love and love and love
The mango was a symbol also of love
The silly hill was the seat of love
The mango tree was a climb of love
The isolation was all in the name of love
The whole was but love’s marvel
Love’s adventure

Love and love and love was all that we had
All love and love
Pure love
Unmixed untainted unblemished unadulterated
And they think it was silly
And I once thought it was silly

On that silly hill remembering the silly things we did
The silly things we said and promised

We did not talk about money, politics and family strategy
We did not bother about inheritance, a family name, a community reputation
We were not told whom to marry and when and always why.

Love can be developed and marriage can always be arranged
That to me are the silly things that we people do to ourselves.

Slugs and Snails and Homelovers' Tales

You asked me for a poem about home and I remembered
that millions of years ago there was plenty of food for all
in the Garden of Eden and slugs
were well supplied with greenery and all was one big happy family
until slugs found that other species found them tasty
chocolate jellies or unjust desserts especially when after
a good night out they were, well, sluggish about getting home
and the sun came out and gulp quick as a slug of Jack
but spotting one night or was it day, a battered caravan
serai, it occurred that a portable home would be a good thing
to evolute. Became snails. Just took time.

Poetic point of this is for there is a point, that
human beings are much the same, there's the bricks and mortar thing
we call home but really home is
in the head or heart, we carry it with us, it's the place we go when
there's no other place to go.

And next time you feel a bit sluggish
about going to work, or like a snail unwillingly to school
you'll have to admit that Evolution
does a goddamned good job, a home in your backpack
beats commuting to work any day. Respect.

Ladybug Smile

Ladybug smiles, burgundy on my wall
Sauntering tapestry; gently and noble
On six tiny legs gallop a plump little parasol
Towards a beige canvas of tiled mould heavens

Ladybug raindrop, of glossy enamel
Decant out a jungle on vertigo deserts
A sunspot of scarlet hangs onto your navel
Quixotic nascent my serpentine empress

Ladybug softly, removes my last tempest
A portrait of Mary beams in your concave
Six dots colored black, make up the best harvest
With you up above there's is no need to now parlay

Ladybug quilts me, a guardian angel
Quietly painting my face with her sunshine
You soothe hookah visions you wanderlust royal
Regaining the axletree my antenna Duchess

Ladybug merry, my eyes to your parade
Exciting and vibrant I'm flowing to rise
In your elegant scarlet's a corset display
Where I am going to join you in the life we can fly

Smiley

I am living toy in family,
Lovely face and called by name Emily,
Some times I act swiftly and silly,
No to rose but they prefer to call me Lilly,

Being eldest and cute so loved by most,
Toys, sweets available at any cost,
Everybody wants me to be happy and smiley
Though I remain playful and naughty

I know why flowers are preferred?
Rose name and beauty always refereed
Pink cheeks always praised and compared
with so much care and love is raised

Mama is always dear and papa too precious,
Cruel in look but kind at heart and look gracious
Mom says Dad was so furious when I was born
Not much happy but reconciled later on

Everything changed with my arrival,
Fortune smiled and celebrated as festival
Happiest moments with joy’s arrival
It meant so much in life for survival

Are all the kids considered so much lucky?
Will they have chance to be choosy?
Well, I don’t know but it may prove different
Heat may turn on but look not so difficult

Babies boom cause worry in entire world
Population rise and relations turning cold
Scarce means and misery to unfold
More sufferings with tales untold

Many curse our boom but I always smile
As happiness at home brought for while
What else small babies on earth can do?
Fortunes favour but no one can undo
