A poem is life, a being in verse,
A body traveling a minstrel's way,
Devouring all things for better or worse
With a rhythmic pulse that knows not the day.
As its chorus of words trembles with breath,
This organ of life travels on.
Like the undying conscience that gnawed at Macbeth
Long after the knife had been drawn.
An immortal being, a god of the page
This inspiration in verse shall remain
Living on and on with men and their age
As long as there's life to sustain.

The Impatient Poem
A poem with an attitude
Turned up at half-past-three,
It woke me up and said, 'Hey, dude,
It's time for poetry! '
I wrote nine poems yesterday,
Those guys give me no rest...
I slithered out of bed O.K.
And stayed there, unimpressed...
Now almost dozing, lay there still,
How long, I know not when,
Then crawled across the carpet till
I found paper and pen...
The poem prodded, like they do,
Impatient like they are,
All ready with its point of view
To broadcast near and far...
So there I was, with one eye closed,
The first line on the page,
My body slumped and strangely posed
At this most awkward stage...
The first verse came, eight, six, eight, six,
The syllables in form,
While I lay there, as cold as bricks,
Fatigued, no longer warm...
But onward, ever onward, I,
Began the second verse,
To finish this before I die,
If things should get much worse...
The third verse started very well,
I smiled at what it meant
And even giggled for a spell,
Like it was Heaven-sent...
The final verse, at last, at last,
The poem shook my hand,
'Well done, my friend, that was a blast!
I knew you'd understand! '
With that, the poem paused in prayer,
'I couldn't ask for more! '
'That's great! ' I said, eyes closed, right there,
Then slept upon the floor!

Life Art
I want to write you a poem.
One that contains no verses
no words
how long it will be
I cannot tell.
It will be a poem that you can see through
yet it will shade you from the sun
a simple lyric
as complex as a crossword
I want it to be something
that you carry through your day
every day
I don’t know if I can write that poem
Or if indeed that poem can be written at all
So instead I am with you
Of you
And slowly together
we are writing our very own poem
Not on a page
Or in a lost notebook
But in the café
and in the street
At a table
In our bed
Every day we add another line
another image
another verse
and I know that with every word that we write
I want it to be the longest poem
That has ever been written.

You went from zero to none in these past three months on your level of affection

When I try to make sense out of what we have I always fall into depression

I'm tired of fighting,
I'm tired of spiting,
My life is a storm full of raining and lighting my insides are pleading from all of the screaming sometimes I just feel like I'm no longer breathing.

I'm tired of wearing my heart on my sleeve and I just don't know why I stay cause day after day I continue to say

Inspiration (before a live audience)
To be honest – inspiration may be found anywhere, anytime, in anything
A gaggle of geese flying overhead
Sitting in an outhouse in the middle of the woods
A weed growing through a crack in the middle of a paved parking lot
While watching an ant carry a load 100 times its size
Yes, inspiration may be found anywhere!
In a whisper of wind caressing your hair with invisible fingers
A smile or glitter of an eye from a passer by
The bouquet of perfume, the sight of flowers, the smell of the sea, the laughter of friends or children
And yes, even in the death of a friend or loved one, we may find – inspiration
Or, in the kind gesture of a stranger
And, of course, inspiration may be found in a piece of art or a book
FOR IT IS WRITTEN – 'if you cannot write a poem – live a poem'
