Coming Down

Sipping my cup of camomile,
My peaceful face breaks into smile,
Reflecting on the longest mile,
The hands reset upon the dial,
No roguish thoughts can my mood spoil,
As to my feelings, I've stayed loyal.

Miss You Nights

[Shane:]
I've had many times I can tell you
Times when innocence I'd trade for company
And children saw me crying
I thought I'd had my share of that
But these miss you nights are the longest
[Bryan:]
Midnight diamonds stud my heaven
Southward burning like the jewels that are your face
And the warm winds that embrace me
Just as surely kissed your face
Yet these miss you nights they're the longest
[(Mark) Shane:]
(Lay down) Lay down all thoughts of your surrender
It's only me who's killing time
(Lay down) Lay down all dreams and feelings once remembered
It's just the same this miss you game
[Mark:]
Thinking of my going
How to cut the thread and leave it all behind
Looking windward for my comfort
I take each day as it arrives
But these miss you nights are the longest
[Shane:]
But these miss you nights are the longest

The Best Smile

It was a portrait
Of six feet height
Full size Lady Grace,
Minus lips on her face.

With all his skill
The artist failed still,
To give her a smile,
Free from any style.

He scanned every mile,
For that unseen smile,
One lovely to admire,
Forever, the world over.

Smiles, smiles every where,
But not a smile there,
New, true and plain,
His lady should own.

His wife smiled.
His girl smiled.
His servant smiled.
His boss smiled.

The milkmaid smiled.
The cartman smiled.
The beggar smiled.
The neighbour smiled.

The dandy smiled.
The waiter smiled.
The grocer smiled.
The councilor smiled.

He saw an ambitious smile,
Not an aesthetic smile,
And a cunning smile,
Not a winning smile.

He saw a dubious smile,
Not a divine smile,
And a greedy smile,
Not a graceful smile.

He saw a mischievous smile,
Not a magnanimous smile,
And a voluptuous smile,
Not a virtuous smile.

Smiles, with strings, he found,
Wherever he went round,
But not the best one,
The Lady Grace won.

The smile, the best,
He found at last,
From his own child,
Rocking in the cradle.

Now the Lady Grace smiled.
Thanks to the child.
The portrait was acclaimed,
The best of its kind.

(Longest word in English is 'Smiles'
Because there is a mile between 'S' and 'S')

Dial-a-clich

Further into the fog I fall
Well, I was just
Following you!
When you said :
Do as I do and scrap your fey ways
(dial-a-clich)
Grow up, be a man, and close your mealy-mouth!
(dial-a-clich)
Dial-a-clich
Dial-a-clich
But the person underneath
Where does he go ?
Does he slide by the wayside ?
Or ... does he just die ?
And you find that youve organised
Your feelings, for people
Who didnt like you then
And do not like you now
But still you say :
Do as I do and scrap your fey ways
(dial-a-clich)
Grow up, be a man, and close your mealy-mouth!
(dial-a-clich)
The safe way is the only way !
Theres always time to change, son !
Ive changed
But Im in pain !

Cotswolds

The road stretches far in front of me
Lined by Cotswold stone walls and old oak trees
Light flickering through branches like peppered stars
Reflecting slowly across the bonnet of my car
I see a pigeon flying alongside trying to keep pace
And feel the early morning sun kiss my face
What better way to make you smile
Driving through the Cotswolds mile after mile

If everything in life could be as good as this
The world would be happy and full of bliss
A sign I see says it's not far to go
20 minutes at the most if I go with the flow
The road damp after heavens opened up in a stream
Leaving a rainbow coloured sky as if made in a dream
It would be nice to stop and ponder for a while
Driving through the Cotswolds mile after mile

The end of my road is as far as I want it to be
Wherever this is, the choice is mine you see
I'm not there yet and have some distance to go
So slowly turn up the volume a notch on the radio
With fields and trees rushing past and sunroof open
Listening to the music with words sung not spoken
I like the sound, I like the rhythm and style
Driving through the Cotswolds mile after mile

My road is coming to an end - beautiful as it may be
Cotswold stone replaced by daffodils and blossom trees
Wide pavements give a feeling of peace and space
I see a lady jogging with her hair out of place
The postman putting mail through a door
Wonder if it's important, wonder who it's for?
And as the sun comes up I close my eyes and smile
Dreaming of driving through the Cotswolds mile after mile

Smile please...

Smile is not a document or file,
which opens when ur mood is off,
and closes when ur mood is on.
smile is 'U' line,
that makes everything straighten,
and also fine.
that's why smile is not a document or file,
so, please smile...

smile is not anything like trial,
to practice and do second time.
it comes only when u r happy or
want to make others happy.
smile is some drops of tears,
that makes rush away ur fears.
that's why smile is not anything like trial,
so, please smile...

so, keep smiling and
make others to smile.
so that there's no worry,
and doesn't keep us in hurry.
as we all know,
life's a camera,
so, better face it with a smile,
so, please smile...

Beautiful Smile (For Happy Chitongo)

When she smiles
Cotton wool of adrenalin
Dabs at my heart

Her smile
Makes my blood creamy
As a fluid avalanche
Of supple feelings
Hug my heart

When her scrump-dilicious mouth
Spread in a smile
I know i can walk for a mile
And for a while
I perspire sunshine
Of happiness

When her tender lips
Furrow into a smile
My heart lurches
With joy
And my soul swirls
With contentment

It is that smile
That i seek to renew
As days roll by
And make these feelings roost
Ever, and ever!

Smile little man

Smile little man, smile!
Show me some love
Radiate some care
Lighten up the atmosphere

Scare us not with a retarded fearful face
A smile goes a lenghty way at a steady pace
Everytime I see you, I see your frown
Your thoughts are glaring at me as if I am a vicious enemy
Demanding of you to surrender to my battalion army

Why not change your facial expressions for once
If you deem yourself not worty of silver, at least aim for bronze

Common smile little man
Show me some white teeth
Give me some love
Acknowledge I'm here

Why hath thou so miserable, day by day
A smile will make a difference to your face
Your smile will make you attractive in every place
A smile will make us listen sympathetically to your case

Drive not away the innocent ones
Allow not your frown to spoil our fun

Smile little man, smile
Smile, once, then smile twice
Smile for the ladies, smile for you
Smile for me, smile for everyone
Smile for the old ladies crossing the street
Smile little man, smile
Common give some real love for once
If you deem yourself not worty of silver, at least aim for bronze

Please smile to me

I would do anything to see you for a while
I can walk a thousand mile
to make you feel better... to make you smile

I would do anything to make you glad
You don't understand how I go mad
If I hear you sound sad

I would do anything for you
to make you pass this mood through
to cheer you up from feeling so blue
If only you tell me what to do
If only you give me any clue

If only I know the key
to make you smile to me
Smile to me..
Please smile to me

Mood Swing

Why can i change the way I feel?
Why if I change my emotions, does this scar not heal
Nor this love pass away
It persists and it will not die
I feel as if this world is fey
I feel as if my fate is written all over the sky
So everyone, knows... except me
I'm the only one who can't see
So how can I go from happy to sad?
Depressed to glad
When these feelings stick to my heart like glue
When sometimes.... sometimes all I can think about is you
I'm not sure how to cope with this mood swing
Not sure how to sing
When my song is one of affection
But your answer is one of rejection
So what's with this mood swing
Why can't I tame my feelings for you?
Or is it fake?
Were they feelings or did I just make
Make it all up
What is love when I mood swing
What is happiness when I can mood swing
Why do I base my happiness
On circumstance
What a mood swing...

Do Not Think I Am Oblivious

Feelings?
You have no idea how deep mine are.
Thoughts?
They are connected to curiousity.
With a comprehension wished.

Devotion?
I am devoted and loyal.
Until I'm given reason to despise.
And I can do that to anyone for the rest of my life.
Why?
My forgiveness doesn't come cheap.
Nor am I perfect.
I never said I was!

My feelings and thoughts are deep.
And when they are disrespected...
Do not think,
I am oblivious with unconcern.

I am not vindictive!
But I do promote the act of replacement.
And I attempt to do that...
Before the foam starts to drip,
From between my teeth.

I am aware.
But I do no wolfing!
I just do what I do and be done with it.
And I do my best to make it painless.
Unless I am tested by one in disbelief.

Give A Smile.

When your down,
Give a smile,
No one wants you sad,
When your in a bad mood,
Give a smile,
Because it makes the sun shine,
When you think its the end of the world,
Give a smile,
The bad thoughts will leave,
When you're talked about,
Give a smile,
Show em that your better then them,
When your alone,
Give a smile,
Someone will come,
When you think your not special,
Give a smile,
And you will realize you are,
Thanks to you,
You Make me smile,
When im down.
All i do is think of you,
And theres a smile,
Soon after.

Around The Dial

Radios of the world are tuning in tonight,
Are you on the dial, are you tuned in right?
One of our d.j.s is missing.
Are you listening?
Are you listening to me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me clearly?
Around the dial.
Ive been around the dial so many times,
But youre not there.
Somebody tells me that youve been taken off the air.
Well, you were my favorite d.j.,
Since I cant remember when.
You always played the best records,
You never followed any trend.
F.m., a.m. where are you?
You gotta be out there somewhere on the dial.
On the dial.
(are you ready) were going round the dial,
(are you listening) around the dial,
(are you tuned in) around the dial,
(are you searchin) around the dial.
F.m., a.m. where are you?
You gotta be out there somewhere on the dial.
On the dial.
Where did you go mr. d.j.?
Did they take you off the air?
Was it something that you said to the corporation guys upstairs?
It wasnt the pressure,
You never sounded down.
It couldnt be the ratings,
You had the best in town.
Somehow Im gonna find ya, track you down.
Gonna keep on searchin,
Around and around and round and round...
(theyre searchin) around the dial,
(theyre listenin) around the dial,
(poor station) the best in town,
(poor d.j.) who never let us down.
While the critics kept on knocking you,
You just kept on rocking around the dial.
Around the dial.
Ive been searchin for you on my radio.
This time your station really must have gone underground
Somebody said you had a minor nervous breakdown.
Was it something that you heard,
Or something that you saw,
That made you lose your mind,
Did you lose control.
Did you step out of line?
If youre there, give us a sign.
I cant believe that youve been taken off the air.
Think Ill sell my radio now that youre not there.
You never gave in to fashion,
You never followed any trends,
All the record bums tried to hack you up,
But you were honest to the end.
Gonna keep my radio on,
till I know just what went wrong.
The answers out there somewhere on the dial.
On the dial.
Can you hear me (around the dial)
Are you listenin (around the dial)
Are you out there (around the dial)
Can you hear me?
Around the dial.

Feeling In A Rendezvous Mood

Feeling in a.
Rendezvous mood.
Feeling a bit desperate about it too.

And only to myself,
Will I admit this.
And only to myself,
Will I even address it.

Feeling in a
Rendezvous mood.
Feeling a bit desperate about it too.
And only will I pat myself on the back.
For encouraging urges inside me like that.

Yet I'm too,
Given to have one on ones.
Too...
Selfish to share anyone.
And just too loyal to be about cheating.
Especially with another,
Who woos me to be fooled.

I'm just too
Committed to be sneaky.
Too.
Suspicious of that hit to miss.
Too.
Quick to fall in love.
To have someone tell me,
There is another one they are thinking of.

Feeling in a...
Rendezvous mood.
Feeling a bit desperate about it too.
And only will I pat myself on the back.
For encouraging urges inside me like that.

Yet I'm too,
Given to have one on ones.
Too
Selfish to share anyone.
And just too loyal to be about cheating.

Everlasting smile….

You greet me everyday with a smile on your face,
A smile full of affection, one can easily trace..
A smile that soothes your mood in different ways,
A smile for dull nights a smile for gloomy days..

A smile deep as the oceans on your lips you deploy,
Transforming murky gesture into an aura of joy..
A smile for every emotion is one preeminent ploy,
In a gale of sorrows it still floats like a buoy..

You mesmerize everyone with cheeky words you speak,
Your smile gets better with a everlasting streak..
Beautiful emotion of joy, always does the trick,
For an ailing heart in need of strength when it's weak..

Never give up on a wonderful smile that you carry,
It'll help you get through the situations that vary..
It'll give you courage when the future looks scary,
The smile that you present is simply extraordinary..

If you love your smile, God will love you even more,
More showers of happiness, he'll be ready to pour..
It'll help you to cure and heal all wounds which sore,
As it soothes my soul with bliss right to the core..

You've walked all this time never stopped for a while,
Your destination is close don't let your smile exile..
You have yet not reached, you may have another mile,
So please don't ever loose that everlasting smile..

Lass Of Cessnock Banks, The

A Song of Similes

Tune - 'If he be a Butcher neat and trim.'

On Cessnock banks a lassie dwells;
Could I describe her shape and mein;
Our lasses a' she far excels,
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

She's sweeter than the morning dawn,
When rising Phoebus first is seen,
And dew-drops twinkle o'er the lawn;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

She's stately like yon youthful ash,
That grows the cowslip braes between,
And drinks the stream with vigour fresh;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

She's spotless like the flow'ring thorn,
With flow'rs so white and leaves so green,
When purest in the dewy morn;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

Her looks are like the vernal May,
When ev'ning Phoebus shines serene,
While birds rejoice on every spray;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

Her hair is like the curling mist,
That climbs the mountain-sides at e'en,
When flow'r-reviving rains are past;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

Her forehead's like the show'ry bow,
When gleaming sunbeams intervene
And gild the distant mountain's brow;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

Her cheeks are like yon crimson gem,
The pride of all the flowery scene,
Just opening on its thorny stem;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

Her bosom's like the nightly snow,
When pale the morning rises keen,
While hid the murm'ring streamlets flow;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

Her lips are like yon cherries ripe,
That sunny walls from Boreas screen;
They tempt the taste and charm the sight;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

Her teeth are like a flock of sheep,
With fleeces newly washen clean,
That slowly mount the rising steep;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

Her breath is like the fragrant breeze,
That gently stirs the blossom'd bean,
When Phoebus sinks behind the seas;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

Her voice is like the ev'ning thrush,
That sings on Cessnock banks unseen,
While his mate sits nestling in the bush;
An' she has twa sparkling roguish een.

But it's not her air, her form, her face,
Tho' matching beauty's fabled queen;
'Tis the mind that shines in ev'ry grace,
An' chiefly in her roguish een.

Girl On Terrace

I see a girl,
Standing on terrace,
Face covered with long curls,
Staring in the empty space,

She’s watching the stars, or the clouds,
I don’t know,
But her pale face is glowing in moonlight,
Showing her mood is a bit low,

She’s trying to catch,
Someone in the empty air,
Realizes soon it was just a shadow,
And lies back on the empty chair,

Her face is again in her hands,
Seems like gaining some words or thoughts,
Just a second passed and I hear a sob,
It seemed she was in pain,
Something hurt her a lot,

She was continuously touching,
The chair beside her,
Slowly and affectionately,
Like she was touching a person,
Close to her,

Again she realized,
There was no one sitting there,
It was again a shadow,
And seemed like she was going to shatter….

Suddenly, I saw a smile,
Reflecting pain, on her face,
Maybe she remembered something good from her past,
Or just an incident case,

She flinched,
As she remembered something,
Her face was worse than I first saw,
Her silent sobs now louder,
Than any other creatures creeping,

It seemed she was living an empty life,
Full of darkness and shadows,
I don’t know what had happened to her,
Wonder if she was hurt by circumstances, friend or foe?

Suddenly, she stood up,
And was going back downstairs,
The rhythm of stick, made me realize she was blind,
Maybe that was the pain,
Beneath her beautiful pale layers,

But I soon realized,
Her pain was more than that,
Of course,
I wanted to ask about the person in her empty shadows,
The reason for her silent sobs,
But that young girl,
On the terrace,
Sometimes smiling, sometimes sobbing,
With her pain and empty shadows,
Was lost………….

The Shortness Of Life

And what's a life? A weary pilgrimage,
Whose glory in one day doth fill the stage
With childhood, manhood, and decrepit age.

And what's a life? The flourishing array
Of the proud summer-meadow, which to-day
Wears her green plush, and is to-morrow hay.

Read on this dial, how the shades devour
My short-lived winter's day! hour eats up the hour;
Alas! the total's but from eight to four.

Behold these lilies, which Thy hands have made
Fair copies of my life, and open laid
To view, how soon they droop, how soon they fade!

Shade not that dial, night will blind too soon;
My nonaged day already points to noon;
How simple is my suit! how small my boon!

Nor do I beg this slender inch to wile
The time away, or falsely to beguile
My thoughts with joy: here's nothing worth a smile.
